Chapter 4

Shadow and Sonic had been trudging over the dirt path for over twelve hours with no town or city nearby.

"Damn...why the hell is it so hard to find a town?!" Sonic complained, his feet were killing him.

"I don't know, we can't...stop though..." Shadow was having a hard time continuing to walk as was Sonic, but they finally had to rest on a few stones near the grass.

"Damn, I'm starting to think that leaving that hospital was a bad idea, Shadow..." Sonic said worridly.

"We had to go somewhere!" Shadow proclaimed.

"I know, I know...its just that all these strange happenings as of late have me wondering about what that blue echidna said earlier..." Sonic said as his thoughts trailed off to their earlier confrontation.

"He said something about a 'greater group'." Shadow mentioned to Sonic, who was still in thought.

Sonic barely heard a word Shadow said, though, Amy and Michael were the two things that were top priority on his mind at that moment.

"Amy...is she...?...is she still alive...?" Sonic felt another flow of tears about to come forth.

Suddenly, Sonic heard a voice infront of him, but there was no one there.

"Now I'm hearing my sons voice...I must be going crazy..." Sonci said to himself, but then he heard his sons voice again.

'Dad, its me, your son, Michael! Don't lose hope, you're almost to a city! I have great news as well: Amy is alive! Whatever happenes, don't lose hope, I know you can do it, dad!'

Sonic then got silence as he was very relieved about Amy being alive. Half of his doubts were over with and he knew that there must be a city enarby.

"Lets go, Shadow! We're almost there!" Sonic grabbed Shadow and sped off towards the distant hilltops with unforeseen vigor and stamina as all pain in his legs seem to vanish.
