Together again. Although I can't believe it's true, we're all together again. Just like…well, I suppose we've never really been like this before that I remember. Good thing we managed to get back to the ground. The group had drifted down to Angel Island and turned in for the night. Shadow knew that, in the morning, everyone would be expecting him to relay what had happened to him. Shadow rolled onto his side on the soft grass beneath him. And how shall I manage that? I can barely retain their faces, even now, and they want me to give detail of those nights? Shadow shuddered as an icy breeze washed over his body. Shadow sat up and turned his head to the Master Emerald. How strangely it shines at me… the Emerald, there. Cold grass hit Shadow's head

A young boy, alone in the world

Twirling before him, but just out of reach

He reached for the Emerald, but it spun away

"I'll never reach it…why is this?"

Bitter tears were released

"Never…"

"SHADOW!"

A the shriek rang in Shadow's ears as he roused from his trance. Rouge hovered over him (not literally, of course), her eyes laden with unshed tears. Shadow felt a horrible surge in his stomach. He sat up and saw Sonic and Tails a few feet away, looking quite frightened.

"What is it?" demanded Shadow, sounding annoyed through no intention of his own.

"You-you were in a trance or something…your eyes were open, but glazed, your whole body was stiff, and th-then you-you-" Rouge whimpered this much, but couldn't seem to finished.

"You started to disappear." Shadow started as Knuckles made himself known with this statement. "You'd gone sort of white-ish, and then you were fading…"

Shadow's head reeled. He had been disappearing? How could this be so? What on earth is going on? And... Shadow stopped mid-thought. Not of his own accord, all of his thoughts seemed to flee his head with no explination.

"Why are you all staring at me?" Shadow asked those around him. These are an odd bunch: A bat, an echidna, a fox, and a hedgehog! Who would have thought of such a group? "May I help you?"

"Shadow…" Tails began.

"Yes, those are those things on the ground… is that fox mental? Ha ha!" Shadow laughed at this odd fox with two tails. He looks so young? Why are they all looking at me so strangely? "Well, I'll be going to-" Wait, where am I going? And how did I get here? Where is `here'? What on Earth is going on?
