Chapter 1

Space...The never-eneding frontier...Although its mysterys are vast and complex, the discoveries of mankind have revealed to us the secrets of the black void in the sky. Thought to be figured out, mankind soon quit any furthur explorations of space. This was soon discovered by many people wanting nothing more then to find out the mysterys of space: in their own manners...No one suspects a thing in the human world, except for a certain group of individuals who, through much toil and hardship, have found a way to sneak into space and find out just why the sky has been quiet for oer 50 years. This is their story.................................

The sun began to rise over the earth's corners, illuminating the darkened globe caused by the daily process called night. As the sun lit up the planet, so did a certain space ship...

"Atmospheric stabilizers on...Fuel tank full...Left-wing lasers on...Right-wing lasers on...Underside lasers on...Ion Cannon on..." The computer bleeped as Sonic looked on in approval.

"Everything is set, and all thats needed is to find out just what is the reason for all this peace in space..." Sonic said to his friend, Tails, who was in charge of the ships navigation controls.

"Sonic, we are currently entering Sector 2, Quadrant 1, Area 0.4532A. This area is known for a planet that has long been a hideout for a group called Space Pirates. This planet is known as Planet SR388. Despite its infamous record it has not seen any activity from assaulters for over 200 years. This is the only planet or extraordinary landmark we will find for the next three Sectors, Captin, I recommend landing on this planet for investigation and exploration." Tails commented, getting the ok from Sonic.

"Land the ship, all crew members, prepare to land!" Sonic shouted to the others, sitting down and buckling up for the landing.

As the ship began to descend into the planets atmosphere, memories of Sonic's past began to come back to him...

"He's a lucky one eh?"

"Yes, he was one of the only ones to survive that explosion!"

"We also found a pink hedgehog and a yellow fox that had two tails! They were all beaten up and battered, but they should make speedy recoveries!"

{End Flashback}

"It seems like it was only yesterday when I overheard them talking...but what still puzzles me is what were they talking about?" Sonic questioned himself as the ship touched down on the planets ground, a heavy rain falling on the planets surface.

"Amy, scan the area, I want a full diagnostic on this planets lifeforms and its seismic activity...we don't want any surprises while staying here..." Sonic said to Amy.

"Right away, Sonic! <hitting keys on the computer> This planet is home to many species, some very violent ones, but most of them are not going to pose any threat whatsoever to our safety." Amy commented.

"Hmmmmm...alright, we may need to go back to the ship should we meet any hostile life-forms, we need all the help we can get if that happens...right now, is everyone armed with their charge guns?" Sonic asked, getting a nod from everyone on board. "Alright, if everything is set...lets move out." Sonic said, opening the hatch door s he and the rest of the ships crew stepped on the planets ground for the first time.

"Hmmmmm...this planet looks deserted..." Knuckles commented after seeing many dead trees and exploded doors.

"Yes, it probably is...but we must keep our wits about, who knows what we may encounter since we have no idea what this planet's lifeforms are like..." Sonic commented back to Knuckles, walking ever so carefully and keeping their wits about them as they traveled through doors that had exploded and hanging carcasses that still had not decomposed completely.

"This place...it brings bck memories...bad ones at that..." Sonic said to himself as he grabbed his gun, ready to fight if something dared stop him.

As the group traveled furthur and furthur, the lighting grew dimmer and dimmer, soon the only thing that could represent their location would be if they felt a breath on their necks. The dripping caverns and the lowly echos of their footsteps were the only sound in the complete silence they received. Bats flew down from the many stalagmites, their high-pitched shrieks startling enough to raise the hair on someone's back.

As the group went furthur on into the cave, they managed to spot a statis tank of some kind, it had been broken, almost as if someone or something had broken free.

As Sonic went to inspect the tank, a resounding echo seemed to start when he would get close to the tank.

"What on earth?" Sonic commented, stepping away from the tank as the echo slowly died away. owever, as Sonic went back over to the tank, the same bone-chilling echo resounded in the cavern, sending chills down the entire crews's spine.

"I think we should get out of here, Sonic..." Amy said to Sonic, getting a no in response. "This whole place is creeping me out! I wanna get out of here!" Amy cried out as the echoing sound got even louder.

"Whatever it is, its origionating from this stasis tank...Knuckles, help me lift this thing so we might be able to find out what this echoing noise is all about!" Sonic said, Knuckles almost too happy to oblige.

"I haven't smashed somethin up since I was at Angel Island..." Knuckles said excitedly to himself as he prepared to pummel whatever it was making the noise out of its misery.

When Sonic lifted the tank, a strange object started floating out of the broken glass, but it was too dark to see clearly. When Sonic got closer to it, a red light was shone on his face, causing a high-pitched alarm to go off.

"SHIT! Blast it!! BLAST IT!!" Sonic shouted, pulling out his gun and firing at the strange object. After a few shots, the object short-circuited and fell to the ground, the shell of it remaining intact.

"We should take this back to the ship, it might provide some useful information that we might be able to use to our advantage!" Tails commented, picking up the broken object, soon discovered to be a machine.

As Tails ran analysis on the mechanism, Sonic and Amy were embracing each other tightly, Amy more specifically, as Knuckles stood guard outside the ship.

"Its ok, Amy, its ok...It was just a machine...it wasn't anything lethal...at least I don't think so..." Sonic said as he spoke to himself on his last statement.

After a few minutes of waiting, the analysis on the mechanism was finished and Sonic and the others eagerly listened to what Tails discovered about it.

"This is a sentry droid; Model IA. This machine is simply an observer droid, not firing at any threat, simply alerting the other droids of the intruders whereabouts." Tails stated, getting a shocked expression from Sonic.

"That can't be good..." Sonic said to himself as Knuckles opened the hatch door looking extremly worried.

"Guys! We got trouble!!" Knuckles said.
