Chapter 8

Michael and Tikal ran as fast as they could out of the building, trying to escape the horrible reality that had just been born. The ultamite Dragoon of Chaos had been arisen, and Tikal knew only too well of the destruction that beast would cause unless something miraculous happened.

"Michael! We need to find the pieces of the Master Emerald! I have a way of reviving your father! We must act quickly, though! The dragon will most likely be afetr these pieces too! We must find the 30 shards that have escaped and reform them into the Master Emerald! Once we do, I can use whatever power I have to try and revive your father!!" Tikal said as Michael placed her on the ground, well out of the dark shadow of the Mystic Sanctuary.

"Well, what are we waiting for?! We need to go!" Michael shouted.

"With me and you, this task is nigh impossible! I don't have very good hunting skills...Im a female echidna and the males are the ones that have the extra-keen senses for the emerald fragments! Knuckles is dead, and he was our only source of hunting skills! With him gone, it could take years until we even find one piece!" Tikal said, starting to cry some.

"Tikal..." Michael gave Tikal a kiss on the cheek, assuring her that everything was going to be alright. "I have an idea! We need to head to Eagle-Eye and head towards its most barren secotr! There is a gang called "The Freaks" that are comprised of many male echidnas! If I could recruit them, we could find the emerald fragments in a much faster time!" Michael siad, brightening the face of Tikal with his grin.

"Genius!!" Tikal went with Michael, and the two were off in no time to the Freaks hideaway.

<5 minutes later>

"Yo, Chris! Hank! Larry! Bill! I need to talk to you all!" Michael called out into the speaker of the gangs hideaway.

"Ok, you can come in, Mike!" Gloria opened the door and allowed Michael to walk in, but halted Tikal's advance. "Its ok, Gloria! She's with me!" Michael said, reassuring Gloria to let Tikal pass, which she did.

"Hey! Its my man! Mike!" Chris gave Michael a hug and a slap on the back.

"How's it hangin' bro?" Larry asked.

"Guys, I'd like you to meet Tikal, my girlfriend." Michael said proudly.

"You go man!" Hank gave Michael a shove on the shoulder.

"Thats not the main reason we came here, though. Tikal, would you explain the predicament we are in?" Michael asked.

"Listen, we just got out of the Mystic Sanctuary, and we met a mad scientist by the name of Darian...he just unleashed a powerful beast called the Dragoon of Chaos!" Tikal said.

"Oh my god..." Chris's complexion turned three shades of white when he heard this.

"Knuckles is dead, and we need to find the Master Emerald shards before that dragon does! I have an idea of how to revive Michael's dad, but we must work quickly! I beg of you four, please, help us recover the missing fragments of the Master Emerald!" Tikal was on her knees while asking this.

"What do you think, Chris?" Bill asked.

"Its been so long since we were in the outside world...yet, with Knuckles dead, we have no other alternative...only the male echidnas have the treasure hunting senses powerful enough to find the Master Emerald shards...If what Tikal is saying about that creature is true, then we need to revive Sonic and fast!" Chris said, agreeing with Tikal to help out.

"Lets go!" Bill told Chris, Hank and Larry to follow Michael and Tikal.

"Be safe, Chris..." Gloria said.

<Meanwhile, outside Eagel-Eye>

"Alright, we need to get a good start if we are to ever hope at getting Michael's dad alive again!" Tikal said. Michael could only stand there and listen to Tikal's instrcutions.

"We understand." Chris said, speaking on behalf of the entire crew.

"There are thirty fragments that we must find before that dragon does!" Michael said.

"Lets do it!!" Tikal shouted, leading the charge for the recovery of the Master Emerald.

"Lets start at that mountain! I'm certain there are some emrald fragments there!" Chris said.

After reaching the foot of the mountain, Michael helped Tikal up the mountain, while the others simply punched their way through all the rubble and boulders. The rubble was no problem for the males, but Tikal and Michael had to manuver around it while the others looked for the pieces.

"Hey, Tikal! Isn't that one of them?!" Michael noticed something green sparkling from a rock formation near a cave.

"It is! Hurry, grab it!" Tikal told Michael to grab the emrald fragment, which he did successfully.

"We need to keep these fragments in a safe place so that they don't get lost or stolen!" Michael said.

"I have a bag we can keep them in until later, right now, we need to hold onto it and hope to find enough to form a fragment!" Tikal said.

"How many shards does it take to form a fragment?" Michael asked Tikal.

"Three at least." Tikal responded.

"Hey! I think you guys should get down here!" Hank was heard calling from a cave on the other side of the mountain.

The others hurried over to see what Hank had discovered; it was a piece of the emerald.

"Great work, Hank!" Chris gave Hank a slap on the back while Tikal hanbded the other fragment to Michael.

"We need to find one more to complete one of the fragments of the Master Emerald!" Tikal said.

"Well, we have 2 down, but we can't stop here! We must find 28 more pieces before we can revive Michael's father!" Bill said as he ran into one of the caves, sensing a shard.

"Hey! Lets follow him!" Larry shouted as he too sensed an emerald shard.

"They probably can sense another shard! Come on!" Chris said as he ran towards the cave.

Michael and Tikal followed close behind them, allowing them to guide the way towards the next shard.

After some brisk running through the cave, Bill stopped suddenly as the others saw another shard in the hands of a creature.

"Hey! He's got a shard!" Michael shouted, causing the creature to swallow it.

"NO!!!" Chris ran to the creature and beat the living shit otu of it, causing it to cough up the shard.

"Got it!" Tikal put the shard together with the other two, forming a fragment of the Master Emerald.

"One fragment down! We must form 9 more before the Master Emerald can be used to revive Sonic!" Tikal said.

"Lets get busy then!!" Larry shouted as he led the group deeper into the cave.

Michael and Tikal were right behind the echidna's when a rockslide caused the group to be seperated, the echidna's on one side and Michael and Tikal on the other.

"Oh no!" Michael pounded at the wall, him and Tikal were sealed in on both side, with no way to escape.

"We'll try to find a way to get you' two out of there! You'll just have to bear with us!" Chris yelled as their footsteps got fainter and fainter.

"Great...now what do we do, Tikal?" Michael asked.

"I don't know..." Tikal was very upset that this had happened, but she was glad that of all the people to be trapped with, it would be her lover, Michael.

Michael sat next to Tikal on the ground of the cave and put his arm aeound her waist. Tikal shivered at his touch, sending goosebumps up and down her spine.

"Mmm..." Tikal slightly moaned from Michael's hand around her waist.

Michael took his other arm and massaged Tikal's shoulder, making Tikal gasp somewhat.

Tikal told Michael to stop and had a better idea to pass the time.
