Chapter 9
Thirty minutes after Tikal and Michael's little incursion, Larry and Chris came back with a couple sticks of dynamite.
After warning Michael and Tikal, the dynamite did its thing and blew up the rock pile, allowing Michael and Tikal to be free.
"Finally!" Michael said as he strecthed his arms and legs out.
"While we were gone, we heard some moaning in there! You two didn't happen to...you know?" Chris gave Michael and Tikal a suspicious eye.
Michael simply grinned at this statement, making Chris shake his head.
"Lets move on, shall we?" Larry asked.
"We have seven shards, we need 23 more to completely fix the Master Emerald!" Tikal said.
"I sense a strong energy source coming from the East, about three miles away!" Chris said, pointing towards where he sensed the shards.
"Well, lets get going!!" Michael shouted, grabbing Tikal and dashing off towards where Chris pointed.
"Wow..." Larry stated with his jaw dropped about half his body height.
"You do know thats Sonic's son, right?" asked Hank.
"Yes...I do now..." Chris said.
<two hours later>
"Damn, whats taking them?!" Michael was getting very impatient with the echidnas' delay.
Michael, you must realize that they are not nearly as fast as you are." Tikal stated.
"Oh, yeah...I forgot about that..." Michael said embarrassingly.
"Michael!" Michael heard Chris and the others calling out for him.
"Over here!" Michael responded.
"Dude...you have...GOT to stop....doing that!" Larry complained.
"Sorry, sometimes I can't contain it...<snicker>" Michael replied.
"whatever..." Bill replied.
"I sense at least 10 shards of the Master Emerald around this area! We must search hard, and we should be able to find them!" Chris said.
"Lets move out!" Michael shouted.
After some extensive searching, Only 8 of the shards were found, yet the group remained hopeful that they would find the other shards.
However, their hopes were dashed when Chris did not sense any trace of the shards in their area.
"That means that..." Tikal was about to start.
"That means that that dragon probably found two of them..." Hank said sadly.
"We can't lose hope, guys! I want my father back very much! If we give up now, that dragon will become even more powerful!" Michael said.
"You're right, Mike, we need to keep searching...I'm sure that we can still revive Michael's dad even without all the pieces, right Tikal?" Chris asked hopefully.
"I'm not sure...bottom line is that we need to collect the remaining pieces, then we can start to figure out how to get the other back!" Tikal said.
"You're right!" Michael said.
"C'mon! The remaining pieces should be in the Ice Region!" Chris yelled, signaling for the others to follow him.
"Five fragments down...5 remain...Michael, do you think we can stop that beast?" Tikal asked.
"I don't know, Tikal. I really don't know..." Micahel responded nervously.
Michael grabbed Tikal and sped off to where the echidna's were headed: towards Eagle-Eyes tallest mountain, Mt. Serguret.
"Guys! I'm sensing the remaining pieces except for the two we don't have! If we hurry, we can find the 13 shards up here!" Chris called out, telling everyone to split up so they can find them all.
Chris was walking along one of the narrow paths along the mountainside, there, he saw a shard dangling off the mountains edge. Chris carefully grabbed it and kept searching for more pieces.
Larry was at the summit of the mountain, it was there that the majority of the pieces were, and he found 6 pieces up there. Larry went back down to meet up with Tikal and Micahel so they couyld fuse the shards together.
Hank had the most difficult section of the mounain to scale. He barely avoided three rock slides and almost lost a shard of the Emerald. Through it all, Hank found 3 shards on the East side of the mountain.
Bill was on the Northern side of the mountain, and there he found 3 more shards of the Emerald. After collecting them, Bill went back down the mountain to join back up with the others to fuse the shards into the Emerald.
"Great to see you all back! Did you all find the shards?!" Michael asked, the temperature was getting low and Michael really wanted to get off this mountain.
"We got them!" Chris said proudly, handing Tikal the Emerald shards. Tikal fused them together, forming an almost-completed Master Emerald.
"It looks powerful enough to do some reviving!" Hank said.
"No, we need to find those other two pieces, otherwise we will never be able to revive Michael's father! I don't know where those other pieces could be, but I just pray that dragon hasn't obtained them!" Tikal said, fear evident in her voice.
"Well, if we're gonna find those pieces, we need to forulate a plan to get them!" Hank said.
"What w-!" Chris saw something in the sky.
"What the hell is that?!" Michael shouted.
"Greetings, fools!" the voice of Darian said through a speaker.
"Darian!" Everyone shouted at once.
"You may have collected the majority of the shards, but I have the other two, and you'll never get them! I've hidden them in far away places! By the time you even get close to finding them, my ultamite Dragoon of Chaos will be strong enough to destroy this planet!!" Darian said crazily.
"Damnt, you aren't going to get away with this, Darian!!" Michael shouted, attempting to hit Darian, but Michael merely blunced off an invisible barrier.
"You can't stop my ultamite plan! Even if you DO find a way to revive that pathetic excuse for a father you have, you would still be no match for the Dragoon of Chaos!!" Darian shouted as he sped off into the distance.
"Come back here!!!!" Tikal yelled, not even noticing Michael had already dashed off towards the vehicles location.
"Can't let him get away!" Michael said to himself as he found the vehicle, uncloaked, and jumped inside the vehicles backseat.
"What the hell?!" Darian surprised to see Michael, said.
"You are going to give me those shards, now!!!" Michael landed a vicious kick to Darians head, knocking him out cold, Michael found the shards and grabbed them.
Michael didn't see the oncoming traffic, though, and he narrowly escaped an 18-wheeler. Michael jumped out of the vehicle and landed hard on the street.
"Michael!!!" Tikal shouted in the distance.
"Guys! I got it!!" Michael held up the Master Emerald shards and handed them to Tikal.
Tikal fused them together with the Master Emerald, reforming the Master Emerald to its origionality.
"Now we need to head to Angel Island and revive Sonic!" Tikal shouted.
"Lets go!!" Michael grabbed Tikal and sped off towards Angel Island, with the other lagging behind the very fast speedster.
<Ten minutes later>
"Well, here we are!" Michael said heppily, setting Tikal down gentily on the ground.
"Theres the shrine! Hurry! We need to revive Sonic!" Tikal ran towards the shrine and placed the Master Emerald on the piller.
The others just managed to get there before Tikal started the process of bringing Sonic back.
Tikal started saying incoherent words, closed her eyes and lifted her arms in the air.
Michael was astonished to see a figure in a white light floating down from the sky.
"Is it possible!?" Michael ran towards the shrine to check Tikal to make sure she was alright.
Tikal was on the ground in severe pain; the reviving process had drained a lot of her energy.
Michael looked at the figure with huge eyes as it slowly descended from the sky.
Suddenly, a blue quill was recognizable to Michael's eyes.
"DAD?!"
