Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Lost and Found ❯ Anything..... ( Chapter 1 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Sooo yeah……..posted a new story for some reason. It's kind like a sequel to Everlasting Love, so to understand how Haley and Shad meet you might wanna read the first few chaps of that. I don't think you'll need to tho.
Before I start tho I want a huge thank-you to go out to the Editor in Chief, Mel *Loud, bursting applause* who reviewed this and EL for me. Luv ya hun! ~_^
There's more than likely going to be some hentai in later chapters, but bear with me cause I'm a little rusty at writing citrus.
And not that I'm done yakking, here's Chapter 1 of Lost and Found: Anything.

It seems fate never had a liking for Westopolis.
Was it really five years ago that this very city had been brutally invaded by the black aliens of the Black Arms? To some, it seemed long ago. To others, it was only a short time.
Whether five years is a long time or not is really a matter of opinion. But regardless of that detail, history seemed to be repeating itself. This time, however, it was not a coincidental, 50-year plot.
No, this time, like so many other things that go wrong, this was a problem the humans themselves caused.

Over the city, a GUN helicopter hovered noisily. Most of the occupants inside were hunched over a radar computer. Several red dots appeared on the monitor.
Standing over to the side was a voluptuous white bat, Rouge, and a handsome black hedgehog, Shadow. Both were looking thoroughly bored with the current situation.
“Didn't I just clean up this city?” Shadow mumbled nonchalantly. It was obvious that the years had changed him, but not too much. He had grown literally over a foot, he was almost four-foot nine now. The quills on the back of his head were longer and the red highlights complementing so well with his whole body but mainly his eyes that almost any girl who looked at him would swoon on the spot. His body didn't change much, slightly more built in the chest and shoulders and his legs and torso were of course longer to reach that incredible height.
“Yes but,” the commander started nervously, “the damage shouldn't be as devastating as it was when the black aliens arrived. We think this is something we can control better and…”
“Just tell us our mission commander,” Rouge said politely. The years hadn't changed her as dramatically as they had Shadow. Not physically anyway. She had grown slightly taller, tall enough that she could reach Shadow's shoulders without her heels on. She didn't wear heels much anymore, and had grown accustomed to more casual clothes. Mentally she was much less immature, and to the joy to everyone around her, she laughed much more easily.
But there was something hidden within her, something that few people could recognize. Her eyes had lost their mischievous sparkle, and she was less flirtatious. However, she was very good at hiding things, even things that weren't priceless gems.
The commander continued, “Very well Rouge. We have just gotten word that the Guard Robots we have placed around the vicinity of the city have suddenly run amok. We shut down all the forces we could, but there are still too many loose in the city.
“So they need to destroyed,” Shadow stated, finishing the speech for him. Sounds easy. Good. Then I can get home.
Rouge looked over at him. He was looking out the helicopter window with a look of apprehension on his face. But she knew that it wasn't solely because of the mission.
She hesitantly looked down at his left hand. A small, medium-thick band encircled his finger.
It was amazing how something so small could mean so much.
“You know,” she said, walking over and smiling to try and hide her nervousness, “I seem to recall a time when you would stare like that and be thinking about me.”
“That was a long time ago Rouge,” he said so quickly and bluntly that Rouge almost flinched. Shadow paused, and then looked at her. “Don't try to open old scars. I forgave you End of story.”
She narrowed her eyes as remnants of what she did came back to her. “You didn't have to you know……….” She said guiltily.
“I didn't want to.” The bitter truthfulness of his words stung. He gently ran a thumb gently ran over the ring on his finger and his eyes returned to the window. “She convinced me.”
Rouge's eyes widened and her mouth dropped open slightly. “She did?! But I thought-
“Time to go,” he cut her off. The helicopter had reached a low enough point to where they could jump off and with a nod to each other, they did so.
On the ground, after the chopper had flown away, it was eerily quiet. “Jeez, and those guys up there made it seem like we were gonna get jumped as soon as we touched the ground,” Rouge commented dryly. As soon as she'd finished, the building behind them gave a loud bang and a crazed MK Hunter sprang and attempted to grab her.
She didn't seem very surprised by the attack. However, at the angle she was at she couldn't do any real harm and skillfully glided to the side. At the same time, Shadow whirled around and leapt forward and sent the robot flying backwards. It hit the ground and gave a firecracker-like pop before it erupted into a small flame. Then the human soldiers behind them ran forwards with fire extinguishers to put it out.
Rouge nodded a small thanks to Shadow, who in turn gave a small incline of his head.

They scoured the rest of the city in the same way, each switching off on who would destroy. Before they knew it, they were finished.
“Well that takes care of that,” Rouge stated with finality in her voice.
“Yeah,” Shadow responded hurriedly as he boarded the craft that would take them back to the base. He looked even more anxious now then when they had arrived.
“He sure seems uptight.” Rouge heard behind her. She turned and saw that it was Topaz, walking towards her.
“Yeah, I suppose everyone's ready to go back home,” she mumbled in response and then frowned.
Topaz, not noticing this, smiled and said, “You really scored, huh?”
Rouge shot her a mixed look of confusion and anger. “What?!”
Taken aback by the show of aggression, the female officer held up her hands in defense. “I'm sorry! I just saw that he was married and assumed it was to you.”
Rouge's featured softened. I suppose it's something that's easy to mistake, considering how we were……....No. She couldn't bear to think any further. Bringing back those memories would only make her break down.
Topaz had never seen her friend so ailed by something. “If you don't mind me asking,” she started hesitantly, not wanting to deal with an enraged bat. “But what happened to you two? You guys seemed awfully close.”
If it were any other person, Rouge would have just ignored the question like she had all the other times. But this was Topaz. It's not like she'll tell everyone, and maybe talking about it will make it go away. “Its fine, but I'll tell you right now that I'm not proud of what I did.”
They were boarding the plane now, and the two women stood a good ways away from Shadow as Rouge started to explain. “Shadow had been staying at my place for a pretty long time. Things were fine, we were as close as you've known us to be. Then one day Shadow found this girl. Her name was, is, Haley. He found her in an old alley.”
“They were friends for a while, which made me angry enough, but soon I could tell that they wanted a lot more from each other.”
“So he just got up and went with that girl ad left you?!” Topaz asked as her eyes widened.
Rouge shook her head. “No, let me finish. Anyway, I went off on another jewel-hunting spree and brought Shadow along with me.” She paused for a moment, recalling the happy memories of that trip.
“A few days after we got back Shadow was asleep and the doorbell rang. It was Haley, and she said she was several months pregnant. At 19. She gave me a letter explaining things possibly, I don't know, I didn't read it, and told me to give it to Shadow when he woke up.”
“What'd you do with it?”
Rouge closed her eyes. “I kept it and hid it from him………………………… 8230;………………………for over a year. He went into my room one day and I had the letter out for some reason and needless to say he found it.”
“What'd he do?!”
“I got home and saw that he had it.” Rouge had to work to keep her voice from breaking. “He looked at who it was from, looked at the date, and then looked at me. And he left.”
“Left?”
“Yep. Just used Chaos Control and left. I didn't see him again for about a month when he asked me to help him and Haley build a house n a little remote place in the mountains called Springleaf Valley. Afterward he said he'd forgiven me but we've never been quite the same since.”
“I'd imagine not! But its okay Rouge,” Topaz tried to reassure. “That was about a year ago and he said he forgave you so there's no need to worry.”
“I guess. Whoa, it's already dark out.” Then she flipped open her cell and saw that it was past 9:00. Oh, no wonder.
“You can jump off from here Shadow,” the pilot aid from the cockpit. Rouge looked out a nearly window and couldn't help but smile at the scene below.
Flowers; some white, red, orange, and any other color flower could be covered the entire stretch of ground below. They ended abruptly at a lake where across the shore the small lights of a house shone across the water. The entire landscape seemed to glitter with a secret joy as it all reflected the moonlight.
She turned her attention back to Shadow and saw that he was smiling. She didn't know quite what to think of that. Her heart seemed to jump and sink at the same time.
I'm happy for him……….I've never seen him this happy, not even with me.
But…………
He jumped from the aircraft and Rouge had to fight back tears.
I'd give anything to have him back……………….
