Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Loved Ones ❯ Chapter One ( Chapter 1 )
A/N: This came to me out of nowhere. I'm surprised about it too, and now I'm gonna write it. My first ever attempt at a romance fic. Yeah, I know, someone with my low writing ability attempting this will probably end up being a huge flop, but oh well. Alrighty, withough further ado, I present...Crap, I need a name for it...Um...It'll come to me by the end of the chapter, hopefully. Anyways, here's the fic. And no, it will not turn into a lemon. It will get nowhere close to it. I hope. Anyways, on with the fic!
Disclaimer: I do not own Sonic or any related characters. They are owned by Sega and Sonic Team. They can have them for all I care, I'm just using them for this story.
Chapter One
Sonic zipped through the empty streets of Station Square. Buzzing through every store he could find, he desperately searched for something. Leaving another store empty handed, he sighed and let his head hang. "Man...Why can't I find it?" Sonic began his trek home, walking so that he could have some time to think what it was exactly he was searching for. Snow crunched softly under his feet, some of the liquid seeping through his shoe and getting his feet cold and wet. "Stupid snow," he muttered. "I have two weeks to find something." Valentines day was 15 days away, but Sonic wanted to get a gift early so that it could be delivered without the sender's identity revealed.
"Sonic! Sonic!" Sonic turned to the voice, knowing full well who it was. "What are you doing here?" his pink friend asked. "Usually you're off running around with Tails."
Sonic sighed. "I just came here to pick some things up for Tails' new invention." Sonic held up a plastic bag with mechanical parts sticking out of the top. "What are you doing?"
"Oh, just shopping for groceries." She had her hands full with bags of different types of vegetables. "Say, are you doing anything today? I thought that it would be cool if we got all of us together for a very late Christmas dinner. You know, since we missed Christmas and all."
Sonic thought back to what happened over that period of time, when Eggman chose to put his latest plan of world domination. Eggman had invented an army of robot clones of him and his friends, powered by shards of the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy had to fight through hundreds of them to get to Eggman, where his newest invention, the Egg Claw, made its debut. Put simply, the Egg Claw was similar to a giant crab, complete with rockets and lasers. The claw had the ability to hurl balls of metal at the heroes, which if left alone for too long hatched into smaller crab robots, which would clamp on to their legs and make them sitting ducks for the bigger robot. Though they successfully defeated the robot and ruined Eggman's plans, most of them took quite a beating. Sonic and Knuckles were released from the hospital no more than a few weeks ago, while Tails had minor bruises. They didn't know about Shadow's condition, as he disappeared shortly after the destruction of the robot clones. Amy was the luckiest of them all, as she walked away with no damage done to her at all.
Sonic snapped back to reality, and opened his mouth to speak. "Uh...Yeah, I'll ask the guys if they're up for it."
"All right," Amy said with a smile. "See you later then!" She took off into another store, waving to Sonic the whole way.
Sonic began walking back to the train station, ready to get back to the home he and Tails shared. He began reflecting back on the past few months. Amy still bugged him constantly, yet it didn't seem to bother him as much lately. He actually looked forward to having her sneak up behind him and give him one of her famous death grip hugs.
Sonic reached the train station, bought his ticket, then boarded the train. He set the bag of parts on the seat next to him and stared out the window, letting his mind drift again. Ever since the ARK incident, his feelings for Amy have changed, and they have continued to get stronger. Sonic constantly questioned why he wouldn't confront her about his feelings, yet he already knew the answer: Eggman. He kidnapped her enough as it is, but if he ever got together with her, Sonic would have to go rescue her every week. That's why he was searching for the perfect gift, so that he would be able to show how much he cared about her, even if he was going to send it anonymously.
The train eventually slowed to a halt, pulling into the Mystiic Ruins station. Sonic grabbed his bag and exited the train. He jumped down the stairway onto the ground as he normally did. He never did like taking the stairs. He headed towards Tails' workshop, where he was sure the twin-tailed kitsune was doing something that would end up starting a fire again.
Sure enough, as soon as he got close to the workshop, an alarm within it began ringing loudly. Sonic sighed and took a fire extinguisher out of the bag, and ran into the house. Sonic quickly disposed of the flames, and afterwards set the fire extinguisher on the ground against a wall. "You okay, little bud?" Sonic asked while walking over to him. Sonic took out a white cloth and began scrubbing the young fox's face, which was black with soot. "What am I gonna do with you?"
"Sorry," Tails said. "I was trying to get my newest version of the Tornado working, and I guess something went wrong..."
Sonic smiled and patted his young friend on the head. "Don't worry about it, Tails. I'm just glad you're okay." Sonic then pointed towards the door. "Your stuff's out there in a bag, okay?"
Tails nodded and headed out the door as Sonic headed for the kitchen. He took out a loaf of bread and and a package of lunchmeat, and proceeded in making himself a sandwich. Simple, yet filling enough for the moment. He was in the process of putting the meat away when Tails walked into the kitchen. "Thanks for picking the stuff up for me, Sonic," he said.
"Don't worry about it," Sonic said, waving it off. "It gave me something to do." Tails was about to walk out of the kitchen when Sonic remembered about Amy's dinner invitation. "Hey, Tails! Do you have any plans this evening?"
"No, not really," the fox replied. "Why?"
"Amy invited us over for dinner," the cobalt hedgehog replied while walking over to his phone. "Do you know Rouge's phone number?"
"She doesn't have a phone," Tails said. "She moved in with Knuckles on Angel Island."
"Okay, what about Cream's?"
"Cream lives with Amy..."
"Oh yeah..." Sonic said with a chuckle. "I forgot about that." Sonic set the phone back down on the receiver. "Well in that case, will you do me a favor?"
"Sure, what?" Tails replied.
"Will you go to Angel Island and tell the two lovebirds about the dinner?"
"All right. What are you gonna do?"
"I'm gonna hunt down Shadow." Sonic grinned. "He's one of us now, he should start acting like it." Sonic grabbed his Chaos Emerald out of a desk drawer on his way out the workshop. "Later, little bro!"
Tails took one last look at his workshop before leaving and locking the door. He walked into the hangar and hopped into the Tornado. He pressed a few buttons, causing the plane's engines to start. The plane soared out over the water, heading for the mystical floating island.
Sonic was zooming through jungle trees, searching for the ultimate life form. Barely dodging around trees at breakneck speeds, the blue hero took out his emerald. It began tugging slightly in the direction he was headed, which he hoped would lead him to Shadow. Sonic began doing unnessesary flips through tree branches, enjoying himself for the first time in a while. He came across a waterfall, taking a moment to enjoy his surroundings. His emerald began tugging upwards, so the hedgehog zoomed forwards, heading straight up the verticle cliff close to the falls.
He slowed to a halt when he found Shadow peacefully resting in a small Chao garden. Sonic slowly walked over, trying not to make any noise. He froze when he noticed his opposite's deep red eyes open and focus on him.
Shadow picked up a Chao that was peacefully dozing on his stomach and set him on the ground, and motioning to Sonic to follow him. Shadow led him to a small creek far enough away from the Chao to bother them. "Why have you come here, Sonic?" Shadow questioned.
"Yeah, hello to you too," Sonic replied. "Listen, Shadow, Amy's invited all of us to dinner tonight."
"So? Why have you bothered me?" Shadow asked.
"That means that you're coming, too," the blue hedgehog replied. "Listen, Shadow, you're one of us now. Start acting like it and hang out with us sometime."
"Hmph." Shadow turned and glared at his blue counterpart. "Listen, Sonic, and listen closely. I am a weapon, built only to destroy."
"Shadow, you know that's not true!" Sonic yelled. "Come off of it, you were built, but not as a weapon. You know as well as I do that you were created to help bring about a peaceful future, one where people live together in harmony."
Shadow stayed silent and closed his eyes.
"Tails has been going through some old research files of Eggman's grandfather. I'm not sure what it all meant, exactly, but they told about the reason of your creation." Sonic sighed and walked right in front of Shadow. "Now, documents don't lie. You were created to bring about a peaceful future for everyone. If you were meant to do that, then you would need a peaceful future too, one filled with memories of me and the others. Your friends."
"You speak the truth, although I do not like admitting it," Shadow said. "The last thing I want is for GUN to come after me and have you pulled into it."
"GUN doesn't stand a chance against us," Sonic said. "Eggman's a bigger threat than them, and that's saying something." Sonic grinned and held out his hand. "So, you ready to try this?"
Shadow nodded and grasped Sonic's hand firmly into his. "Yeah. Now, you were saying something about a dinner?"
"Yeah, Amy's hosting it tonight..."
Amy Rose was a very busy hedgehog at the moment. She was in the process of cooking a large turkey, fixing some ham, making seperate plates of veggies and other appetizers, and trying to clean her house before her guests arrived. Not too long ago, she had recieved a phone call from Tails letting her know that him, Rouge, and Knuckles were on their way, and that Sonic would be there shortly.
As busy as she was, she was also extremely excited. Sonic was going to be here, willingly, and she was going to do her best to amaze her hero in every way she could think of. Cream offered her help, and the two of them were putting the finishing touches on their dinner when the doorbell rang.
"I'll answer it, Amy," Cream said, heading towards the door along with Cheese. She opened the door and let Tails, Rouge, and Knuckles in. Cream led them into the living room where they sat on the couch to wait for dinner to be ready.
They didn't have to wait long, as not more than five minutes later Amy called them into the dining room where they took their seats.
"We should wait a little while for Sonic to-" Amy began, but was interrupted by the doorbell. She walked into the other room and opened the door, allowing Sonic and Shadow to enter.
"Sorry we're late," Sonic said, slightly smiling. "We kinda got lost on the way back."
Amy just smiled and led them into the other room, where everyone was waiting for them. The three of them took their seats, and Amy looked at all her friends. "Guys, thanks for showing up tonight."
Knuckles grinned and said, "Thanks for cooking all this. So, can we start eating now?"
Rouge smacked him lightly, mouthing something to him.
Amy smiled and nodded. "Yeah, dig in guys."
/End Chapter One of the Story With No Name/
A/N: Yeah, there's the first chapter. Tell me how it is, I probably won't be getting to the real mushy stuff for another chapter or two, but I will get there. Um...oh, yeah, please leave a review."
