Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Ozzy ❯ Take no prisoners ( Chapter 9 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Rouge was lying down in the infirmary with Ozzy sitting next to her bed. He hadn't left her side for a second. Ozzy recovered pretty quickly but Rouge was still weak. Ever since they returned Tino did nothing but poke and prod her with needles and run tests.
Rouge looked over at the door and saw Tino come in. “I'm going to stick that needle some where you don't want it.” She snapped glaring at him.
Tino put up his hands defensively, “Whoa…Take it easy. No more tests I promise.” He pulled a seat up next to Ozzy.
Ozzy smiled at Tino and yawned loudly. “So what's up?”
Tino looked down at his clipboard and looked up at Rouge. “Well let's start out by going over what happened to Rouge.”
“Again!” Rouge moaned. “We went over it like a million times!”
“I know, it's just to make sure we covered everything.” Tino looked down at his clipboard again. “So you were assigned to Japan but Isis intercepted you. Correct?” Rouge nodded and he continued. “You were rendered unconscious until she revived you. Then the next thing you knew you were back in Japan…”
Rouge nodded again. “Yeah… I only remember bits and pieces. But I do remember the pain.” She winced, “Yeah I definitely remember that.”
“Well what about the whole glowing eye thing. That has to be more than just a really bad eye condition.” Oz put in. Tino and Rouge looked at him. “What?”
Tino shook his head, “It was a sudden burst of energy Oz. Power of the chaos, it feeds and lives off of the host; it uses the host for its own incubator replicating itself over and over again, this process is called amplification. Then once the host's body reaches critical limits then the power is released taking over the host.”
Oz sat there dumbstruck. He looked over at Rouge then back at Tino. “What?”
Rouge rolled her eyes. “It's called the Eggman Virus.”
“Again with this Egg dude. Who is he?”
“That's off the subject Oz.”
“Well then…” He looked at Rouge. “How did you get it?”
Rouge took in a deep breath. “I was infected with it some while ago…I was infected by force.”
“Well we can make a cure for it…can't we?” Oz looked at Tino hopeful.
Tino shook his head. “You can't reverse something like this.”
“I'll be stuck with it for life. It can only come forth if I'm under immense pain or if the main host, like the one who infected me, calls it forth, or like what Tino said, if my body reaches critical limits. Each time the virus comes out it takes over my body, it's more of a brain virus. It attacks the midbrain that is connected to the primitive parts of the brain, like in this case aggression. The virus has become a part of me, it can't live with out me and I can't live with out it.”
Oz leaned back in his chair thinking. “So…that was Rouge we heard on that frequency.” He started talking to him self. “Isis must have brought out the virus.”
Rouge nodded. “Yup.”
He looked back up at Rouge. “It was all a distraction. Chasing down the emeralds, you getting reassigned, and this whole virus thingy.”
“Also the whole thing with Scythe. I bet Isis wasn't even planning on getting her hands on those emeralds.” Rouge said her and Oz now on the same page.
“I don't believe it this whole entire set up was planned out. She planned everything from the beginning to now…” Oz was completely impressed and puzzled.
Rouge looked at him. “I wonder why not just take us out. I mean it would have been easier.”
Oz stared at the floor lost in his thoughts. “Its better to get rid of us together. Kill two birds with one stone.”
Rouge nodded, “ I suppose you're right. But

~Somewhere in the desert, Isis' lair~
The shady figure sat in the dark in her chambers. The only light was the few candles and a single laptop on a near by table. The flames from the candles flickered and cast shadows across her slender frame.
She smiled as she delighted in how perfectly her plan had fallen into place. Soon enough she would be in control. She would wrench the world to its knees with fear and terror. Nothing could get in her way now. She had nothing to fear…for she was fear itself.
“Come now Arsinoe. It's time we prepare for our visitors.” She spoke to the female hedgehog behind her.
Arsinoe stepped into the candlelight. The light cast a shadow across her face and her golden amber eyes glowed with malice. “Yes master.” She replied standing in military posture.
Isis smiled again. Nothing could stand against her…

Rouge and Ozzy were both suited up in their black stealth uniforms. Rouge was double-checking that all their gear was in perfect order while Ozzy finished tuning up their ride in the garage. Rouge packed up their gear and headed towards the garage.
Ozzy jumped down from the plat form in front Rouge. “So what do you think?”
Rouge looked up at the jet. “Nice.” It was a stealth bomber. “I hope you know I'm driving.”
“I figured you'd want to.” Ozzy took his pack from Rouge. “Come on. Lets get this show on the road.”
“Hey Rouge when I tell you be ready to pull that little lever on your right.” Oz said once they were in the air. “The pod will separate and we'll land a little ways away from the target. Tino has some rides for us waiting.”
“Roger that.” She smiled, “I always wanted to say that!”
Oz looked down at the GPS, “Ok we're coming fast, slow it down a bit.” Rouge pulled on the throttle slowing the plane down a couple of notches. “On my count throw the switch. Three…two…one.”
Rouge pulled the lever and their pod separated from the plane and smaller wings extended out the side of the pods sending them into a glide. Rouge then flipped another switch releasing the parachute from the rear slowing them down some more. “Brace yourself…” She pushed the throttle sending them into a dive.
“Uh Rouge…you might wonna pull up a lil bit…please?” Oz tightened his safety belt.
“Yeah yeah..” She kept the capsule at a steady dive and then right at the last second pulled the nose up so that they were gliding a few feet above the sand dunes. She released the landing gear and lowered the plane and they glided on the sand until they came to a stop. Rouge unclipped her belt and opened the hatch, “Thank you for riding Rouge airlines please watch your step and have a great day!” She laughed as she jumped out of the plane.
Oz slightly shaken hopped out after her, “That was so not cool.”
“Lighten up! That was fun!”
“Yeah if you enjoy getting the piss scared out of yah!” Oz shouldered his pack, “Next time I drive.”
Rouge rolled her eyes, “Wimp…” She looked around. “So where are our rides?”
“I think you passed them…” He took a few steps forward and looked around.
“Me! You're the navigator!” She threw her arms in the air exasperated. “Great! We're stuck in the middle of the desert! And what's worse is that I'm stuck with an idiot that cant get the coordinates right!”
“Woman! Chill! We didn't miss them by far so don't get your knickers in a twist!” He started walking up the sand dune.
“Shows what you know. I'm not wearing any.” She stood next to him and smiled evilly as his jaw dropped and he gawked at her. As she took the lead she called over her shoulder, “Come on let's go!”
Oz just blinked and stared after her momentarily frozen. After a couple of seconds reality struck and he ran after her catching up. “You know now I won't be able to look at you without thinking really dirty thoughts this whole mission.”
Rouge laughed, “Sorry I couldn't help it.” Oz looked at her sideways then jerked his eyes forward and smacked himself. That made Rouge laugh even harder.
“It's not funny! I wont be able to focus!” he said keeping his head forward. Rouge just shook her head and kept walking along side him.
Ozzy was right, they didn't have to walk very far. Oz approached a camouflage tarp and removed it. Underneath was a dune buggy. Oz pointed at it and said, “See I told you!”
Rouge brushed him off, “Yeah, yeah…come on lets get a move on.” She got into the passenger side and looked up at him expectantly. “Well?”
Oz glared at her, “You just wait…”
“Oh I'm real scared. That was so intimidating Oz” She said sarcastically.
The fur on the back of Oz's neck rose a little as he got into the driver side. “You know you're really pushing it bat girl.”
“Like I haven't heard that be-“ Oz cut off her sentence as he started the engine. He put in gear and took off.
Oz made sure he took the roughest route just to tick Rouge off. It seemed to be working because she slapped him and he took it a little bit easier, but only a little bit.
They finally approached Isis' “fortress”, more like warehouse, and Oz stopped and cut the engine. By now it was dusk, so Oz pulled out his night vision goggles and got out of the buggy and crawled up a dune that look over the compound. Rouge wasn't too far behind him, he handed her the goggles and spoke in low tones.
“What do you think?” he nodded towards the compound.
“Well security is a bit tight.” Rouge began in the same tones. “We can easily get in through the front.”
Oz nodded. “She has plenty of surveillance that's for sure. Think you can wipe it out?”
Rouge went back to the buggy and pulled out her laptop. Oz came up and sat next to her and watched as she took a small antenna and attached it to the top of the laptop and started tapping on the keypad.
“I can send a loop so that the camera's keep playing the same thing over and over again, but I can't activate it until I'm inside.”
“Great.” Oz stood up and went for his field pack. He strapped on his throwing daggers around his wrist and made sure he still had the ones in each of his boots and the one on his back. He attached a small pack to his belt and activated his earpiece.
Rouge put her laptop up and prepared as well. She made sure all her daggers were in place and slipped a small disk in her boot to copy all of Isis' data. She activated her earpiece and tested it. “Testing…can you hear me?”
Oz looked at her, “Of course I can. You're standing next to me.”
Rouge blinked, “Oh, well shut up I was just seeing if you'd catch that.”
Oz's right eyebrow lifted, “Uh huh sure…” He looked towards the compound his gaze fierce and cold as stone. Rouge new that look, it meant this mission just got personal. She looked at the compound and couldn't wait to get a taste of Isis.
