As Oz looked down at the compound Rouge asked him, “So how do we approach?”
Keeping his eyes on the compound, he said, “Let's wait until it is completely dark. Then we'll move in.” He looked down at his watch. “We only have twenty minutes till sun down.”
Rouge nodded her head. She went back to her computer and did some final touches on infiltrating Isis' system. She tried to get information from the main database but the security was way tuff. Not that Rouge the bat couldn't hack, she was just lazy and felt like getting it from the inside. Before she new it the sky around her was pitch black. She turned off her computer and watched Oz move down the hill. She sat and waited for his signal once he was in position. Then she took off into the sky to the watchtower.
Oz took cover behind a truck just outside the main door. He unhooked a couple of explosives from his belt and attached one to the gas tank. He looked to see if it was clear and then stealthily moved to the next truck and set up the other explosive.
Rouge hovered at a safe distance from the tower. She stayed in silence and then a loud thunderous sound erupted from below. As the first truck blazed the guards set up and took their counter positions. The guards in the tower turned on the spot light and swept it across the ground. Rouge watched as they ran to inspect the scene.
“You four! Stay at the door!” Commanded a guard. She turned and pointed to three others. “You, check the perimeter.” They nodded and split up searching around the compound.
Oz was well hidden behind some barrels on the corner of the compound. He watched the guards move toward the second truck. They were all females, no doubt clones. But he didn't see the host anywhere. He waited patiently and then when they were close enough reached for the detonator.
“Commander!” called out one of them. She was on her stomach with a flashlight pointing it at the bomb under the truck. “I think I found-“. Boom! The truck exploded taking out the guards.
Two guards were running towards Oz's hiding place. When they got close enough Oz jumped out and tackled them both to the ground. Oz knocked one of the guards out but the other one managed to knock him of his feet and started strangling him with her gun. He elbowed her in the stomach and she dropped the gun. He jumped up and as he did he spun around and kicked her in the face. He ran to the front and took out another guard on his way. When he got to the main door the four guarding it pointed their guns at him. He stopped and put his hands in the air.
He smirked, “Some party you got going.” They answered by cocking their guns and glaring at him.
“Get on the ground!” One of them commanded.
Oz obeyed and got down on his knees. He glanced up; Rouge could hurry any time now he thought.
Rouge darted to the tower as soon as the second truck went up in flames. She kicked one guard out of the tower as she flew in and landed. The other guard kicked her from behind and Rouge hit the rail. Right as the guard was coming at her again Rouge spun around and kicked her. Rouge grabbed her by her quills and punched her in the face knocking her out.
Rouge glanced down and saw Oz cornered by four guards. When she glance back up more were coming up to the tower, guns at the ready. Rouge ran at them dodging their bullets. She punched the first guard and tossed her over the side. She jumped up and kicked the other two before they could counter. She took to the air and grabbed the two guards by their shirt collars and flew over to Oz.
Oz glanced up again. He smirked, “Hey ladies! Heads up!”
Before they could react Rouge dropped her load on the guards. Oz ran drop kicked one of the standing guards. Rouge came down and drill kicked the other guard.
They slipped through the main door and took cover in a side hall as more guards made their way out. Once it was clear the spies prepared for the second faze of their mission.
Rouge slipped her palm pc from her belt and activated the loop and sent a distortion signal through the guards' communications. Then she pulled up the map of the complex. “Ok, this hall branches onto the main one.”
Oz nodded and pointed to a little block on the screen, “There's where the main computer is.”
Rouge glanced up the hall. “We better get moving.”
They activated their earpieces and Oz took the lead. They walked stealthily down the hall. The base had concrete floors and aluminum walls. It wasn't long before they came to the main hall. It was empty and quiet. The hair on the back of Oz's neck stood on end. Something definitely wasn't right. He sensed Rouge felt the same way. Her ears were darting this way and that. Both of their senses were on hyper mode.
Rouge looked down at the map and pointed left down the hall. They started down the hall and heard footsteps coming up fast behind them. Oz signaled for them to split up and they darted into separate rooms.
Oz tried to adjust his eyes to the dark. He was in some type of training room. He put his ear on the door. There were two guards standing outside talking. He noticed the small light on a camera flashing. He didn't worry about. Or, at least he hoped he didn't have to.
Rouge stood in the dark the only light coming from her pc. It started beeping and she switched the screen to the surveillance. She cursed under her breath. They discovered the loop! She couldn't do anything about it either. They had already deactivated it.
Oz heard Rouge and whispered, “What is it?”
“They found the loop! They deactivated it too!” Rouge sounded really annoyed. It's not every day someone hacks her system.
Oz's eyed widened. “So the little light on the camera isn't supposed to flash?”
“No. Where are you?”
Just then the lights came on in the training room. Oz blinked focusing his eyes. He turned around slowly and gulped. There were at least thirty to fifty pairs of eyes glaring at him.
Oz saw out of the corner of his eye a wrack of sparring staffs on his right. But before he could get to them the guards charged him five to seven at a time.
Rouge heard him and ran out into the hall. She ran into two guards and stumbled back. They wasted no time in attacking. One on her left kicked her across the face and the other puncher her in the stomach. Rouge was bent over gasping for air. One went to kick her but she caught her foot and flipped her over on to the ground. She blocked the other's punch with her forearm and countered with an upper cut and they fell on the ground. She ran into the training room and saw Oz on the ground being pummeled. Quickly Rouge grabbed two of the wooden staffs and swung them knocking the guards back from Oz.
Oz got up to his feet and brushed himself off. “Took you long enough.”
Rouge tossed him a staff, “Stop complaining.”
Oz caught it and spun it expertly. “Shall we?”
Rouge rolled her eyes, “You're a walking cliché.”
The guards regrouped as Rouge and Oz got back to back. The spies fought fiercely until there wasn't a guy standing. ( my bad “girl” standing XD )
Oz panted slightly. “Good warm up.”
Rouge chuckled, “Yeah.” She tossed the staff down. “Let's go we don't have that much time.”
Oz tossed his staff down too. “Ok. How far to Isis?”
“Not far. There's a short cut this way.” Rouge started walking to the back door of the training area. Oz followed her and they headed out.
Rouge opened the door to another room and gasped. Oz came up behind her, “What's the-“. They walked in shocked. The room was long and wide. Along either side of the walls were body length capsules. Rouge walked up to one them and peered inside the glass. She quickly pulled her hand back as she touched it.
“Its…cold.” She hooked her pc to the capsule. “There in a cryogenic state.” Her eyes widened. “Oz, these clones are different from the ones we fought so far.”
Oz stood next to her. “What do you mean?”
“Their genes have been mutated. They're stronger, faster, and smarter.”
Oz scanned the room. “So these are the ones for the army.”
Rouge nodded. “We gotta shut it down.”
“I agree.” Oz unhooked another bomb and placed it on the capsule. “With all this equipment, one explosion should set off another.”
Rouge put her pc up. “We better go. There's no telling when Isis will locate us.”
“My guess is that she already knows where we are. She's just waiting for us to find her.”
Rouge glared. “I never liked hide and seek.”
~~~~ They took off with Rouge in the lead. The came to a deserted corridor and stopped. Rouge activated her eyepiece. It could detect anything booby traps or other hidden lovelies. Just as she thought, sensor beams. She shook her head. No matter the villain, they still pull the same clichéd stunts. If its not sensor beams then its robots. She turned to Oz. “Sensor beams.”
Oz shook his head, “Will they ever think of anything new?”
Rouge sighed, almost bored, “Follow my lead.”
They started making their way down the corridor. They were half way there the beams disappeared. They looked around puzzled.
Then the tiles on the floor began to glow softly. Oz looked down, “That's new.”
Rouge cursed, “It changed! The floor is pressure sensitive now!” She jumped up and hovered in the air. Just then an alarm went off. Rouge swirled around. “Oz! You triggered the alarm!”
Oz glared annoyed, “Well I would've just lifted myself into the air but I'm missing a little something…wings!”
“Never mind just run!” Rouge yelled over her shoulder. She flew as fast as she could with Oz hot on her heels. “We're almost there! Just around this corner is the main computer!”
They turned the corner and came to an abrupt halt. Guards were waiting for them and had their guns ready. They turned around to see more guards coming up behind them.
Rouge and Ozzy got back to back with their hands in the air.
Oz whispered to Rouge out of the corner of his mouth, “So, got a plan?”
Rouge looked around and whispered back, “Not really.”
Ozzy looked up and noticed an air vent. “Be ready Rouge.” He whispered.
One of the guards stepped up to Oz. “Stop talking!” she said jabbing him in the chest with the barrel of her gun. She nodded and two more guards came with cuffs in their hands.
Oz kicked the gun from the guard in front of him and Rouge grabbed the two with cuffs and bashed their heads together. As the others opened fire Oz set off a smoke bomb. When the smoke cleared the guards looked around and noticed the vent hanging open and the culprits gone.
“How long do you think they'll notice we're not in the ventilation system?” Rouge asked as they walked down the corridor.
“Probably not long.” Oz said. He stopped and pricked his ears up. “What's that noise?” Oz turned around and looked down the corridor. “I don't see the guards.”
Rouge listened attentively. “Sounds like…”
All of a sudden the walls of the corridor started sliding down and huge lasers opened fire.
