[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Maria fell into a sleep full of dreams. She dreamt about the first time she ever saw Shadow's
face, she remembered how Shadow had never yelled or beaten on her. Maria also had a dream
that was very sad in a positive way, she had found Shadow and they went back to the only house
Maria had ever known.

The next morning, Maria left the bush she'd slept in and was greeted by a sunny morning. She
noticed a fruit on the ground, she went over to it but a huge animal came and snatched the fruit.
It looked over at Maria, she was so startled that she fell down. The creature moved closer to
Maria, she backed away until she'd been cornered. Maria began to cry and scream, (Shesh,
Maria cries a lot, doesn't she?) the animal moved closer and licked her on the cheek. Maria
continued to cry, the animal picked Maria up by the neck of her shirt and carried her to a cave.
In the cave was a nest of what looked like baby dinosaurs, Maria was placed in the nest. The
dinosaurs sniffed Maria and then left her alone, their mother had brought some fruit for them
and there was an extra one for Maria. Maria smelled the fruit to make sure it was safe to eat, she
grabbed it and gobbled it down just like a chao that was really hungry. The dinosaurs let Maria
stay for the night, it was surprisingly warm in the cave.

The next morning, Maria went outside the cave and looked up at the clouds. She saw a cloud
that looked like her and her father snuggling, another looked like the picture she always kept
with her: Maria sitting on Shadow's shoulder while smiling happily. Suddenly, Maria realized
that it was her destiny to find Shadow even if she died trying. Maria ran up the hill, she saw the
men from the night before. They had Shadow struggling to get free of the ropes he was tied in,
he glanced at Maria, he seemed to be frantic, he screamed as loud as he could.

"Shut up, troublemaker!"a man said.

Maria knew she couldn't save him now, she decided to train until she became strong and wise
enough to fight and so began her journey for knowledge.

This chapter may not seem long but it has to go into another story called Adventures of the
Future, but you must read Maria's side of the story.
