A/N: Ok, I've thought about it, and realized that this story sucked. So I'm going to go back and revise it all, so look out for the rest of the chapters soon, and then new ones after, even though this is pretty much new anyway…

“Okay, Star! I'm taking my lunch break now!” I shouted through the small daycare center. My best friend and I had our own daycare center in the middle of town; we did good business, for the most part.

“Okay! Just be back before one!” She yelled back.

“Will do!” I walked out of the door out into the street; I was extremely hungry. I took my wallet out of the loose pocket on my shorts; I opened it and counted the cash that was in it. “Only three bucks?! That won't even get me a friggin' chili dog!” Frustrated, I stuffed the black contraption back into my pocket, figuring I could make it home, have lunch, and be back at the daycare by one at the latest.

As I was walking home, head hung low, I noticed a black figure out of the corner of my eye whiz past. My small ears flopped out behind me; I turned around sharply to see him, or her, turn the corner at the end of the street. It occurred to me that I had only walked a block. At this rate, I'll be home at one, never mind back at the daycare at one… I thought.

I sighed heavily and started speeding up my pace; I felt a drop of rain on my head and looked up to the sky. “Greeeeat…” I complained, rolling my eyes. I liked the rain and all, it's just that when I was out in it and getting wet… Well, that was a different story.

“Watch out!” I turned around, squinting my eyes, and felt a big weight fall on top of my body. I opened my eyes to see the same black figure that had run by me before get up and run off towards a big machine; it was shooting off rockets in random directions. And, turning my head to the side, I realized why he knocked me down: there was a big hole in the ground, smoke escaping it.

I got up and started running away; I had to get home and fast if I was to make it back in time for work…

Later…
“I'm telling you Star, I was saved from getting totally obliterated by some giant rocket on my lunch break!” I was trying to explain to her what had happened over my lunch break, but she didn't believe me.

“Yeah, and I'm Santa Clause,” she replied sarcastically.

“I'm being serious! Some black hedgehog tackled me to the ground before the thing blew my head off!” I hit the wall in anger, waking one of the small kittens that were left for the day.

“Stop taking your anger out on the kids…” she said, picking it up and cradling it in her arms. “You're delusional. Sunny, you did not get saved by Shadow the Hedgehog today; there's no way.”

“Shadow… Do you mean that one guy who helps Sonic and them fight Eggman?” I asked; she looked at me like I was psychotic.

“Yes, `that guy who helps Sonic and them fight Eggman,'” she said, shushing the small kitten that was now screaming its lungs out. “You were probably just seeing things…”

“'Seeing things'?” I repeated, almost to myself. I shifted my eyes about on the floor, finally meeting hers; she was staring at me like I had gone crazy.

“Yes, seeing things,” she said after a few moments. She finally set the small kitten in her crib; the little hairball finally stopped crying. “Now, can we get off of this subject and get to your vacation plans?”

“Fine…” I sighed, sitting down.

“Okay, you wanted to take a month off, right? Will December be okay with you?” she asked.

“Yeah, December's fine,” I replied, looking up at her so she at least thought I was paying attention. “And I get the whole month off?”

“Yes, starting December first `til December thirty-first. That sound okay to you?” she asked, clarifying as much as possible. “But I do have something for you to do until then…” She then proceeded to pull out a huge pile of papers from behind the desk. “I need you to enter all of these into the computer.” She said; she rolled her eyes at my bewildered expression. “They're all the customers we've served; though we might be wild, we do have to be organized.”

“Fine, fine. When do you need it by?” I asked, placing the pile on my lap; I grunted under its weight.

Star suppressed laughter as she said, “By the end of this month, if you can, which is when your vacation starts anyway. It's November 15 right now; do you think that's enough time for you?”

“That's plenty of time,” I nearly whimpered, scanning the papers with my eyes.

This time she let out wholehearted laughter. “Just don't forget… I know you, slacker.”

I got up and walked to my desk, which was located in the back of the small building. I got to work straight away, getting through about an eighth of the papers. “This is gonna take forever,” I moaned, running my hands through my shoulder length hair. I heard Star laugh in the other room.

At six o'clock, when all our clients picked up their kids and it was time to go home, I stuffed roughly fifty papers in my bag. I figured if I was to have them done by the end of the month, the least I could do was work on them at home; I could always email what I had done to my computer at work.

“Alright, Star, I'm headin' out. See ya tomorrow.” I said, waving as I walked out the door.

“Okay; we open at seven tomorrow, don't forget!” She shouted through the door.

I gave her a thumbs-up in the window and smiled; I turned around and frowned. I liked work, but hated the hours. Damn these parents and their stupid work schedules… I thought, grimacing.

I lugged the bag I was carrying farther up onto my shoulder, but as soon as I did, the strap broke and all of my papers fell on the semi-wet ground. “Dammit… It was only a matter of time…” I cursed under my breath the whole time I was picking up the papers.

When they were all safely back in my bag, the strap tied to the handle, I got up from my kneeling position and nearly died of fright. It was that black hedgehog again, only this time closer up. He narrowed his eyes at me, and they flashed menacingly. I looked down at the paper he was holding; it was one of mine.

“You dropped this.” He said bluntly. I snatched it from him, not really knowing why. “You really should watch where you walk next time Eggman tries to destroy the planet,” he said, anger tinting his words. “That fat bastard…” he breathed.

“Yeah, thanks for saving me and all, but I think I can watch out for myself.” I said, and shoved off.

“You wouldn't have been watching anything more than fire and blazing Hell if that rocket hit you,” he said, and when I turned around and stared at him threateningly, he added, “Or bright white light, though I think that all people will eventually end up in Hell…”

“Well, we have different opinions then, haven't we?” I asked him, staring him down; I took note of the gun in the holster at his side.

Seeing my reaction to his bodily features, he took a step back and said, “I suppose we do.” And he was off, speeding down the street.

“Pfft. Didn't see Shadow my ass…” I muttered under my breath, and continued on my pursuit to my apartment.

A/N: Yes, I have decided to redo this whole entire story, if you haven't figured that out already. I've realized that Shadow isn't as straightforward and into the dating thing as I originally wrote. So, I'm going to work on revising it. Hope you like it so far!
