The names that I've given Eggman's machines aren't their official names, so you have my permission to use them if you wish.

- The scene: on top of an icy mountain. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy all Chaos Control in view. -

Tails: Welcome to the Twinkle Snow Mountain Range.

Sonic: Okay, there should be an Emerald around here somewhere…

Knuckles: Sonic, we still have to think about what Eggman said. It's possible there may not be one here.

- While Sonic and Knuckles are talking, Tails takes out his binoculars and peers out towards where the other regions should be. Toy Kingdom is still there, but none of the others are. -

Tails: (thinking) Strange. They should still be there, but they're not. Hmm…

Amy: C'mon everyone. Let's get a move on before we all get frostbite.

Sonic: How? We're on top of a mountain. There could be cliffs or other traps everywhere. Eggman was most likely here before us anyway.

Amy: (points to a closer mountaintop) We could have Tails fly us over there.

Knuckles: I can glide over.

Amy: Let's go.

- Amy walks forward, but the snow collapses beneath her and she falls into a mysterious machine. -

Sonic: Amy!

- A frozen Amy is then shot out of the machine and lands over on the other mountain peak. -

Tails: Oh no!

- Knuckles then jumps up and glides over. When he arrives, he punches the ice and frees Amy. -

Amy: Whew. Thanks Knuckles. What was that?

Knuckles: All I can say is this: you stepped into it and were shot out in a block of ice. (shouting out to Sonic and Tails) Jump in! I'll break you free of the ice when you get over here!

Sonic: Are you sure?!

Amy: I'll help you out if I need to!

- Sonic shrugs and jumps in. Once he is shot out, Tails follows suit. When both are across, Knuckles breaks them from the ice. -

Sonic: God, that was uncomfortable.

Tails: Now what?

Amy: Hey! Why don't we try that? (points to a mine cart)

- Sonic runs over to a nearby cliff and peers down to the track below. -

Sonic: The track looks like it goes on for miles. We can really cover some ground with this thing.

Knuckles: Then hop in.

- The four hop into the cart, and it begins to move forward. -

Tails: (takes out the blue Emerald) Let's use our Chaos Emeralds. If one of them stops glowing, then we're close to another one.

- Sonic takes out the red Emerald and Amy takes out the green Emerald. The cart track starts out as a steady slope, but its gets steeper and steeper. And steeper. And steeper. As a result, the cart gets faster and faster… -

Sonic: Everyone, hold on! It's speeding up!

- Sonic and co. are desperately trying to stay inside the mine cart as it travels up and down mountains, through valleys, and even underwater. Several hours later, the cart finally stops at the end of the track. -

Amy: (weakly) Oh man. I think I'm gonna be sick. (pukes over the side of the cart)

Sonic: I'm so dizzy right now it's not even funny.

Knuckles: And there were no signs of another Emerald either.

Tails: This mountain is the only one left.

Sonic: We might as well search it.

- Before any of them can get out of the cart, the ground starts descending. -

Sonic: What? What's going on?

Knuckles: The ground's moving!

Amy: Where's it taking us?

- Eventually the platform they are on comes to a stop inside the mountain. The sudden appearance of a hallway in the ice surprises them. -

Tails: What?

Sonic: This must be one of the last sections of the mountain range. The Emerald must be in there.

Tails: If it's even here at all, Sonic.

- The group climbs out of the cart and enters the hallway. Lights automatically turn on as they approach them. -

Amy: This is kinda scary.

Sonic: Don't worry, Amy. I'm sure we'll be out of here in no time.

Amy: (smiles) I know I can count on you, Sonic.

Tails: Hey guys, look over there! It's a giant ice cave!

Sonic: Alright! Let's go!

- Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy all rush to the room, only to have the door slam down behind them. -

???: (over an intercom) Muahahahaha! You fools fell right into my trap!

Sonic: Eggman again…

Eggman: And you thought there was a Chaos Emerald in the mountains? Hahaha! I got the yellow one here first, before I headed to the Ocean Base to try and get the blue Emerald!

Knuckles: I told ya there may not have been one here, Sonic.

Eggman: Prepare to die!

- The ground begins moving again, but this floor moves up instead - right towards a low ceiling with large icicle spikes on it. -

Knuckles: Brace yourselves! I'll try to stop it!

Amy: But how?

Knuckles: Like this!

- As the platform gets closer to the top, Knuckles places his hands on the ceiling and tries to hold the floor back. As he does so, the sound of malfunctioning machinery begins to echo throughout the room. Indeed, Knuckles is causing the floor to jam and shut down. When it does, he collapses. -

Tails: Knuckles! (places the blue Emerald on Knuckles; energy starts to flow into him)

Knuckles: Thanks for the energy boost, Tails. Now we have get out of here. (punches the floor, knocking out a chunk of metal)

Sonic: (looks down) That's a long way down. Longer than we were a minute ago. (looks down again) Hey, there's G-mel!

Amy: Let me at `em! (jumps down, Piko Piko Hammer in position)

- Once Amy falls close enough to G-mel, she smacks him in the head with her hammer. G-mel is so damaged from her attack that it can only lay there. Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles then land in sequence behind her. -

Sonic: Nice shot.

G-mel: (gets up) Heavy damage sustained. Retreat. (disappears with Chaos Control)

Amy: We better get out of here before Eggman shows up again.

Sonic: First, let's see which regions we haven't gone to yet. Get close, everyone. (Tails, Amy, and Knuckles get closer to Sonic) Chaos Control! (they disappear and reappear on the top of the mountain)

Knuckles: Where to next, Tails?

Tails: (takes out binoculars) One second, Knuckles. I just want to check something out first.

- Tails looks into his binoculars again and sees that Toy Kingdom is gone too. -

Tails: They've vanished.

Sonic: What? What's vanished?

Tails: The other regions. They're nowhere to be found.

Sonic: Huh?!

Tails: And I have the feeling the Chaos Emeralds have something to do with it. Amy, how long did you have the green Emerald before we showed up?

Amy: I don't know, about a few hours?

Tails: That earthquake I felt…I wonder if moving the Chaos Emeralds from their spots causes their respective regions to disintegrate…

- A massive earthquake then starts rumbling through the mountains. -

Tails: (over the rumbling) And it looks like this one is going down too!

Sonic: Where's the next region?!

Tails: A place called Cyber Track! It's a blend of the world's computers and software programs!

Sonic: Huddle up! (the group, once again, huddles near Sonic) Chaos Control! (they disappear, once again)

Again, sorry I took so long to update. I had to do a 12 page research paper over the past couple weeks. Thus, "research paper + other homework = no time for fanfics." But now the research paper is finished and I'm ready to rock and roll! I'll be trying to post stories like crazy for the October 15th through 17th weekend (year 2004, of course). Please review!
