SONIC VACATION
PART ONE: THE VACATION BEGINS!
It was a bright summers day, the sun was shining, the birds were singing.
And inside a small apartment in Station Square, Sonic the Hedgehog was frying, because basically, it was just too hot for our poor Hedgehog hero.
" Too warm, need to get cooler" moaned Sonic as he laid stretched out on the couch.
Sonic's misery was soon interrupted as the phone started to ring, and so Sonic leaned over and picked it up.
" Hello?"
" Hi Sonic, i was just wondering how your doing"
" Oh hi Tails, I'm not doing so good, i think I'm dying in this heat" Sonic answered, sitting up in his seat.
Tails chuckled softly, " Well i was just phoning to ask you about this years vacation"
" Vacation?" repeated Sonic, " I didn't know we were going on one this year"
" Yeah, but we haven't gone on one for awhile, so i was thinking we could go this year, somewhere nice and cool"
" As long as were not going to the ice cap zone, I'll be happy" said Sonic.
" Hehe, maybe we should go to Angel island, I'm sure Knuckles would just LOVE to have us all up there" Tails said, grinning evilly.
" Yeah right" laughed Sonic.
" Actually maybe we SHOULD go to Angel island, since it's so high up I'm sure it would be a lot cooler up there, plus we'll
have great views" said Tails.
" That is true, but first we've got to convince Knuckles" Tails said, " And that won't be easy..."
" Don't worry, I'll convince him, I'll just use the old Sonic charm!"
" Well there goes our chances"
" Hey!"
" Sorry Sonic. Hey, can you phone around and see who else can come too?" asked Tails.
" Sure" said Sonic.
" Well, i gotta go now, bye Sonic"
" Bye Tails"
Tails hung up and Sonic leaned back in the couch.
" Heh, now here come's the tricky part..." Sonic said as he picked up the phone again and started to dial.
Angel island, such a happy peaceful place, the breeze blew, Chao played happily, and Chaos sulked because he was once again stuck in the Master Emerald.
Oh wait, that last one wasn't so good...
And speaking of the Master Emerald, it still sat in the Emerald shrine, it's green light shining almost hypnotically.
Knuckles the Echidna sat on the steps of the shrines, just in front of the Master Emerald.
His eyes were closed as thought to himself deeply.
Lately, he had been thinking of Sonic quite a lot, of all the years they had been friends, of their time together.
He didn't quite know why, but sometimes when Sonic was near him, his heart started to beat faster, and he became all nervous and couldn't stop stuttering.
Knuckles blushed and shook his head to try and clear his thoughts.
" Don't think of him" he whispered to himself, " Think of the Master Emerald, think of-"
'RING RING! RING RING!'
The sudden ringing of the phone caused Knuckles to leap up in the surprise, and shriek quite loudly.
Knuckles calmed himself and answered the phone.
" Hello? Who is it?" he asked.
" Hello Knuckles-Chan! It's me, Sonic!"
Knuckles gulped and blushed at the nick-name Sonic had called him.
'Oh, why did he have to call me that? Now I'm all nervous again...'
" Er, um, hi Sonic" Knuckles stuttered.
" Are you ok Knuckles? You sound a little jumpy" asked Sonic, sounding concerned.
" Yes, I'm fine Sonic" said Knuckles, " What do you want?"
" Well, er, i was just wondering..." began Sonic, pausing for a moment, " You see, i was just wondering if me and the rest of the gang could come up to Angel island for a, er, you know...a vacation...thing..."
Knuckles remained silent for a moment as his mind processed what Sonic was saying.
Sonic...on island...here...with me...vacation...possibly for a few weeks...
" Sure!" Knuckles answered brightly.
" ...Really? You don't mind?" asked a very surprised sounding Sonic.
" Of course i don't" Knuckles said.
" Great! Them me and the others will be there in a couple of days!" Sonic said happily.
" Wait...what others?" asked Knuckles, 'They'll be OTHERS!? It won't just be me and Sonic?'
" Yeah, you know, Tails, Shadow, Rouge, Cream and Urg...Amy" said Sonic, muttering the last name in annoyance.
" I don't remember you mentioning them coming" said Knuckles.
'Of course you don't' his brain told him, 'you were to busy being off in you 'i love Sonic' land'
" Um, Knuckles, i just mentioned them!" sighed Sonic, breaking into his train of, " What's the matter with you? Did you eat too many grapes again? You know those things make you act crazy"
" Shut up!" cried Knuckles, " I've just got a lot on my mind that's all!"
" Oh yeah, like what?" asked Sonic, a smirk in his voice.
" Just stuff"
" What stuff?"
" You know, stuff..."
" Yes, what stuff!?"
" Stuff..."
" WHAT STUFF!?"
" Er...Master Emerald stuff, you know ,me and that old Emerald, weir inseparable!"
" ....You weird Knuckles"
" Be quite" said Knuckles, " Now just everyone together, and come up here!"
" Geez, ok, you don't have to get so excited, I'll come, I'll come" Sonic said, " Ok, see you soon, bye Knuckles-chan"
" Bye...Sonikku-chan" Knuckles said and the line went dead.
Knuckles sighed, releasing the breath he didn't know he had been holding.
He blushed slightly at Sonic's last words.
Because the thought of Sonic coming {in more ways than one...} to the island, really did 'excite' him.
" Hmm, i wonder who else he'll end up bringing with him anyway?"
Shadow was sitting on a deckchair on the balcony of his apartment in Station square, enjoying the gentle summer breezes that blew past and ruffled his dark coloured spines, cooling him down somewhat.
The ringing of the phone suddenly caught his attention, and he walked back inside the apartment and picked up the phone.
" Hello" he said into the phone.
The ever happy voice of Sonic answered him, " Hi Shadow-chan! How i you doing? I haven't heard from you in awhile"
" My apologies Sonikku, I've just been a little busy lately"
" That's ok" said Sonic, " But please try to speak to me more often, i like hearing from you"
" And i like hearing from you too" Shadow said softly, a tinge of pink coming to his cheeks.
Shadow had recently discovered that he had a little crush on his sapphire blue look alike, and hoped that no one, especially not Sonic himself, realised his crush.
" Aww, thanks Shadow-chan" said Sonic, " Anyway, i come to you with a proposition, how would you like to go on a nice relaxing vacation on Angel island?"
" A vacation on Angel island?" Shadow said, " And your Echidna friend went along with this?"
" Yep, he said yes quite easily actually" said Sonic, " So if you want to come, meet us at the Mystic Ruins workshop, Tails is going to fly us there in his new plane"
" Don't worry, I'll be there" smiled Shadow.
" Ok, see ya Shadow"
" See you there Sonikku"
And with that the Hedgehogs hung up.
While Sonic was busy calling Knuckles and Shadow, Tails, assuming that Sonic had managed to win Knuckles over with his 'Natural charm' had taken the liberty of calling Rouge and Cream.
Rouge had been quite eager to come on the vacation, but Tails couldn't quite tell what she was more excited about seeing, Knuckles or the Master Emerald.
Tails had then called Cream, and sadly Cheese, her Chao, had picked up the phone.
After about ten minuets of trying to get the little creature to understand him, Cheese had finally fathomed out what Tails was saying, and run off to get Cream.
Cream had happily said yes to the vacation as well, this pleased Tails quite alot.
Tails smirked to himself, now all that was left was for Sonic to call Amy.
" This should be fun!" giggled Tails.
" Chao!" Cheese cried happily, staring up at his owner with his large blue eyes.
" That's right Cheese, weir going on a vacation" said Cream, patting Cheese on the head and handing him a bright blue and yellow Chao fruit.
Cheese got a delighted look on his face and happily started to munch down on the Chao fruit.
Cream smiled fondly and sat down next to the Chao.
" You know, i hope i can spend some time alone with Tails on this trip, I'd really like to get to know him better"
Cheese paused his eating for a moment and glanced up at his owner, nodding his head in agreement.
" Do you think that Tails could like me too?" asked Cream.
The Chao swallowed the last of the fruit and stood up.
Turning to his own he grinned and close his eyes in a happy expression and gave her a thumbs up, " Chao!"
Cream picked him up and hugged him, " Oh Cheese, thank you, I'm so glad you believe in me"
" Chao!" he said, and hugged Cream back.
Sonic's fingers danced nervously over the numbers that made up Amy's phone number.
He waited as the phone rang and started to feel very nervous when Amy answered.
" Hello?" the female Hedgehog answered in her high pitched voice.
" Er, hi Amy it's-"
" SONIKKU!!!"
Sonic yelped and almost dropped the phone in surprise.
'I didn't think even Amy could be that loud' he thought.
" Amy i was just wondering if-"
" I knew you would call today Sonikku!"
" Huh?"
" I was just sitting there thinking to myself 'Sonic is going to call to say how much he loves me' and now you are! I knew you loved me!"
" But-"
" Yay! You love me! Now that you love me we can go out, and get married and have kids and-"
Sonic wondered briefly, as Amy prattled on, if it would be too mean if he just hung up.
...
Nah, it probably would be.
" Hey Amy"
" And then we'd get a pink house and- huh? What is it Sonikku?"
" The reason i phoned you was to ask if you would like to come on a vacation with me and the others too Angel island"
" Ooooh, you and me on a vacation together? YAY! That's sooooo sweet of you Sonikku!"
" Is that a yes?"
" Of course!"
" Ok. See you tomorrow, weir all meeting outside Tails work shop"
" Ok Sonikku, by my love, see you tomorro-"
Sonic quickly hung the phone and breathed a sigh of relief.
He paused as a thought suddenly struck him.
" Oh great, a few weeks with Amy! This is going to be hell!"
" A few weeks with Sonikku! This is going to be heaven!" exclaimed Knuckles.
It was the day of the vacation, and Knuckles was sitting of the soft grass around the Master Emerald shrine, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Sonic and the others.
Knuckles ears pricked up as he started to hear the sounds of fast closing in propellers.
The large blue plane was soon hovering overhead, and it gently came in to land.
Tails had modified his plane yet again, and now he considered the newest version 'The Tornado 4' to be the best plane ever.
He had added quite few more seats and a storage compartment at the back, which is were everyone's luggage was at the moment.
" Hi Knuckles! Said Tails, hopping off the plane and walking over to him.
" Hi Tails, how long are you guys planing on spending here anyway?" asked Knuckles.
" About three or four weeks" answered Tails.
Knuckles eyes widened slightly, he hadn't expected them to be staying that long, but then again, it did mean more time with Sonic...
Speaking of Sonic, the blue Hedgehog was currently helping everyone down from the plane.
Once they were all on the ground, it was time to unload their bags.
Tails offered to carry Creams bags, giving Sonic an idea.
" Here Shadow I'll carry your stuff for you" said Sonic.
Shadow smiled at him, " But Sonic if you carry mine, then who will carry yours?"
Sonic blinked, he hadn't thought of that.
" Well, er, I'll come back for mine!"
" Don't be silly, if you carry mine, then I'm carrying yours" said Shadow.
" Oh ok" nodded Sonic, grabbing Shadows bags.
He glanced around for a moment, before yelling, " Race you!" and dashing off to Knuckles house that was on the ground just behind the shrine.
Shadow blinked and stared after him, and picked up Sonics bags.
It was at that moment that his eyes locked with Knuckles's, who had watched the scene with a glare on his face.
" I didn't know you and Sonic were so friendly..." muttered Knuckles.
" Oh, well we are" Shadow said.
Both of them stared at each other for a moment, before it suddenly dawned on them.
'Hey,' they both thought, "He likes Sonic too!'
Shadow narrowed his eyes and stalked past Knuckles after Sonic, the Echidna glared after him.
Tails, Cream and Amy had all gone ahead, so all that was left were Rouge and Knuckles.
" So, " began Rouge, batter her eyelashes at him in a flirty manner, " Are you going to offer to carry my bags"
" ...No" he said simply, and walked off after the others.
Rouges jaw dropped and she gawked at him in shock, " Well, thank you very much!" she muttered, before angrily following after him.
Since everyone was gone, nobody noticed the small robotic Chao land on the island.
" Hi! I'm Omochao, I'm here to- Oh, their not here..." said Omochao, " Oh well, i just have to follow them then!"
And with that Omochao flew off after them.
And now, the real vacation can begin!
