“Now class if you multiple the first factor by the second like this…”

 

`Boring. Come on ring already!'

 

“Chihiro, would you please come up to the board and do the work for this example?”

 

“Uh, me?”

 

“Is there anyone else named Chihiro here?”

 

“No Sir.”

 

“Ahaha!”

 

`And of course the whole class has to laugh.'

 

“Okay, well first you-“

 

RING

 

`Thanks the spirits! Saved by the bell at long last!'

 

“Okay class. Read lesson ten and complete the bookwork for Monday. Have a good weekend class.”

 

Chihiro grabbed her books and rushed out of the room as fast as her legs would carry her. She got halfway down the hall when her best friend called out to her.

 

“Chihiro, where's the fire?!”

 

`Maybe if I ignore her she'll go away.'

 

“Don't you even think about ignoring me Chihiro!”

 

`Guess today isn't my lucky day.'

 

“Sorry Aki. I'm just in a big hurry today.” Chihiro stopped to allow her friend to catch up. It was a tradition for the two girls to have a sleepover every other Friday and this Friday it was suppose to be over at Chihiro's house.

 

“Have you forgotten what today is?”

 

“No of course not! Do you think that maybe we can…postpone it to next Friday?”

 

“What?!”

 

“I know we hardly ever do that, but…”

 

“Are you sick?”

 

“No. I just have some family matters to attend to.”

 

“Is everything alright?”

 

“Yeah.”

 

“You know you can tell me anything, right?”

 

Chihiro looked at her friend and could tell the truth behind her words, but she could also see the curiosity in her friend's eyes.

 

“I'll tell you all about him sometime.”

 

“Him! Who is him!”

 

“I'll tell you all about it next Friday. It will give us something to talk about, okay?”

 

“You promise to give me all the details?”

 

“You got it. It's a deal!”

 

“Okay, I'll let you off the hook this time.” Aki winked at her friend and turned to head toward her home. “Call me when you can!”

 

“Alright! Thanks Aki!” Chihiro called waving back at her friend.

Chihiro raced up the hill that led to her house. She usually took the longer way home. She would take the route her father had taken that one time. She loved passing the trees and she felt such peace in the forest. The main reason she took the long way home was the fact that she might sight Haku. She no longer felt the need to look for him though. In a few short hours he would come for her and they would leave for the spirit world.

 

It had been six years. She wondered if anyone changed. Would Lin recognize her? Would Kamanji still be working in the boiler room? Would Granny remember her name? So many things raced through her mind as she approached her doorstep.

 

Chihiro threw the door open and raced inside, kicking her shoes off to the side in the process. She looked around the kitchen and noticed her mother stirring something at the stove and suddenly realized.

 

`What am I going to tell Mom and Dad?!'

Haku was in the boiler room with Kamanji and Lin making the final preparations for Chihiro's stay when a servant came to tell him that Yubabba was looking for him. Apparently, she finished her last mission early.

 

Haku quickly left the room and rushed to the elevator that would go to the top floor. When he reached the door that led to Yubabba's office he stopped. The doors flung open to reveal several rooms. He followed the breeze that always led him through the maze of rooms.

 

“Haku.”

 

Haku stood before Yubabba and bowed.

 

“Did you send for me?”

 

“I have a job for you to do.”

 

“Surely it can wait until tomorrow.”

 

“Since when do you tell me how to run this bathhouse?”

 

“I am no longer bound to you. I stay here of my own free will. I'm sure it can wait.”

 

Haku turned to leave before he was stopped by Yubabba's cackle.

 

“I see. Well, Haku I must say that I am getting extremely tired of your attitude.” At that the doors in her office and the doors outside the room shut as though a hurricane blew in.

 

“What is the meaning of this, Yubabba?!”

 

“I am tired of you talking back and I am tired of following your orders!” Fire started crackling in her mouth as she screamed. “THIS IS MY BATHHOUSE! PEOPLE FOLLOW MY ORDERS NOT YOURS!”

 

Haku's eyes widened as he felt his heart quicken its usual calm pace. Was he in danger for once? Did Yubabba finally lose control? What was he suppose to do about Chihiro. He had to see her again!

 

“Haku, I will put you in a place where no one will ever find you!”

 

A bright red flash appeared and disappeared within a blink of an eye. When the room returned to normal Yubabba stood in the room alone.

Chihiro sat by her window with her bag packed for the weekend. She had convinced her parents that she was staying with Aki and her family for the weekend. Luckily Aki had agreed to cover for her in exchange for details.

 

Haku was late. She was expecting him a lot earlier and he still hadn't arrived. She didn't now what to do. A lot of things could happen in the Spirit World. Was her Haku hurt?

 

Chihiro sighed and looked up at the stars in the sky.

 

“Where is Haku?”

A/N: Sorry it took me awhile to update, but I started Driver's Ed and that takes up my time and then I'm tired. Or maybe I'm just lazy. Anyway, I'll try to update faster.
