Meanwhile:
(the entranc e tunnels to Warfang)
The many citizens& nbsp;of Warfang cautiously walked towards the  ;tunnel's entrance, where a
large boulder&nb sp;rested solidly against the opening. It had been placed there by the
Guardians&nbs p;to shield the cities occupants from the&nbs p;chaos and destruction that was
consuming&n bsp;their world. An entire day had passed&nbs p;since Spyro and Cynder left with
Igni tus to face off against the cruel Dark&n bsp;Master. Now the planets tremors had final ly
ceased and the land remained still&n bsp;and silent. This dramatic turn of events& nbsp;gave them
hope that they were succ essful in defeating Malifor and saving their& nbsp;home.
As the citizens began to sof tly converse amongst themselves; the Guardians,&nb sp;Hunter,
and Sparx made their way thr ough the crowd towards the tunnels entrance.& nbsp;Upon
reaching the boulder Hunter lifted his right hand up he thoughtfully strok ed his
whiskers and chin. After several seconds of this he turned his head  ;to face the
Guardians.
"It has be en eerily calm this past hour. Do you&nb sp;recon it is a sign that the war is finally
over? Did the young dragons& nbsp;succeeded in defeating Malifor."
"It co uld well be possible, but we shall not&n bsp;now for certain if such is the case& nbsp;until we
remove the boulder from t he mouth of the entrance tunnel."
Terra dor replied in his naturally commanding deep& nbsp;voice.
"Yes, well put Terrador. It  ;will most certainly be impossible, intolerable,&n bsp;unmanageable,
to know for a fact un til we move this enormous obstruction.â&euro ; Volteer commented.
The rest of the&nb sp;group groaned loudly in unison. Everyone k new Volteer was by far the
most in tellectual of the Guardians, yet he was not without his own faults. The most
prominent of which was his tendency to&nbs p;ramble needlessly and use a ridiculous amou nt
of complex vocabulary. This particular&nb sp;fault of his, often lead to people ha ving little
patience when talking with him. They found it to be quite irritatin g.
"Well than, who would like the honor of going outside first to see what awaits us...
hmm?"
Cyril bluntly asked the rest of the group.
They all remained silent and neither said nor  ;did anything for several moments. Then as&nb sp;
if they all had the same idea i n mind, the eyes of the Guardians and&nb sp;Hunter came to
rest upon Sparx.
"Hey, why is everyone looking at me?&nb sp;Wait don't tell me. Do I have somethi ng stuck in
my teeth?
I know that I had some tasty little butterflies  ;for a snack earlier. Although I could h ave
sworn I'd managed to get all t heir little bits out from between my tee th. Then again I
wasn't exactly concent rating when I was doing it. I mean give me a break here. The
world wa s falling to pieces at the time. So  ;you can guess that I was a bit dis tracted by
the possibility of us all&nb sp;dying a painful death. Or maybe it wa s just me and you were all
just&nb sp;perfectly fine."
The Guardians began to&nb sp;grin mischievously while Hunter just simply&nbs p;chuckled softly. All
were a great dea l entertained by Sparx and his melodramatic&n bsp;sarcasm. Even more so
amused by the fact that he appeared to miss what  ;they had been discussing and was
compl etely oblivious as to the reason they we re all staring at his flouting figure. I t was
only after he saw their reac tion to his outburst that it dawned on&n bsp;Sparx what it was that
had them&nbs p;fixated on him. They wanted him to be& nbsp;the one to go outside. Needless to say
he didn't like the sound of th at idea one tiny bit.
"Oh no, I&nb sp;don't even think so! That ain't gonna  ;happen. Not in this or any other lifeti me
am I going to do it. So yo u can just forget the whole thing right& nbsp;now you crazy old
relics."
"Oh&nbs p;come now Sparx be reasonable will you.  ;We guardians need to remain here so as& nbsp;
to watch over and protect the peop le of Warfang."
"Ok you make a goo d point there Terrador. So you Guardians  ;can't go, but what about
Hunter? Why&n bsp;can't he be the one to go?"
"I t is because I Sparx, am charged with&nb sp;the more important task of locating your&n bsp;
brother, Cynder, and Ignitus; as well&nb sp;as making certain that they are not b adly
wounded. Now although it is safe&n bsp;to assume that stillness of the world&nbs p;is sign that they
were able to d efeat Malifor, it does not give us any&n bsp;indication as to what state the land  ;
is currently in. So I cannot begin&nbs p;my search for them until we fully unde rstand has
happened outside the tunnels."&nb sp;
Sparx had not thought of that. He&nbs p;had been so caught up in watching out& nbsp;for his own
well-being that he for gotten about Spyro. He and Cynder were o ut there all alone
somewhere. They need ed to be found as quickly as possible&nb sp;and the only way that
would happen&n bsp;is if he agreed to scout ahead first . Hanging his head in shame and
de feat he hovered over to hunter.
"All&nb sp;right Hunter I'll go, but on one cond ition. When I return you take me with&nb sp;you to
find Spyro, Ignitus, and the& nbsp;evil she-dragon."
"Very well Sparx, you may come with me as soon as you&nb sp;return. With you with me we
will&nbs p;be able to cover more ground over a&nb sp;smaller amount of time. That being said&nb sp;we
should with some luck find them&n bsp;within a weeks’ time."
Nodding in acceptance of Hunter's terms for him accompanying him on his journey
Sparx flew over to Terrador.
"Well bi g guy let’s move this huge  ;hunk of rock so I can get going al ready." Sparx said
to the tough earth&n bsp;guardian.
"All right everyone, stand back . Sparx, once I've moved the boulder eno ugh for you to
squeeze through fly  ;outside and get a quick view of the&nbs p;valley."
Terrador replied to the dragonfly as he took up a stance in front&nb sp;of the boulder. Then
concentrating on&nbs p;his earth powers he slid the boulder a side a couple of inches. Just
enough&nb sp;to let Sparx out and still keep any&n bsp;creatures on the outside from getting int o
the tunnels.
"Well here goes not hing. I'll be back in flash boys." Sparx shouted to the group as he
flew&n bsp;through the the tiny opening Terrador had made for him.
Once outside Sparx blinked in astonishment at what his eyes  ;were seeing. The sun was
starting to&n bsp;set in the sky and the land was  ;in one piece again. There were even bir ds
singing and small animals scurrying in the trees and grassy meadows of the&n bsp;valley.
As he flew farther along th e valley he also so some chunks of land floating in the air.
Looking almos t like serene islands that had always be en there. Overlooking the land
below. T hey added a sense of grace and peacefuln ess to the valley that would not be  ;
felt if not for their presence.
C onvinced that he had seen enough, Sparx flew as quick as his wings would carry&n bsp;him
back to the tunnels to tell&nbs p;the others about what he had discovered.&nb sp;He reached the
tunnels in under 5&nb sp;minutes and squeezed himself through the s ame slit that he used to
get out.& nbsp;As soon as he was inside Terrador c losed off the small opening using his powers to move the boulder into place.&nb sp;
Hunter and the Guardians stood there  ;waiting anxiously to hear what Sparx had&nbs p;to
report back to them. They were&nbs p;forced to be patient with him because all of that flying
around had him completely out of breath. After taking a  ;few minutes to catch his breath
Sparx& nbsp;was able to tell them what he saw&n bsp;outside.
"You guys wouldn't believe it.& nbsp;They're all gone! Every single last one& nbsp;of those ugly little
grublins and their even more hideous big buddies... just&n bsp;simply gone! It's like they
never e ven existed. The only sign that anything  ;terrible happened is the burned lands
that were left behind from The Destroyer.&nbs p;Other than that the valley looks perfectly& nbsp;
normal. The sun is brightly shinning,&n bsp;there are animals playing in the woods,&n bsp;and the
land is whole once more.&nb sp;Well, that is to say that it's mostly whole again. For it would
seem as though when it got put back together&nb sp;that some parts got left out in the&n bsp;
process. So now the sky is dotted&n bsp;with these floating islands. It's really quite an
amazing sight to behold."
The Guardians and Hunter remained rooted&nbs p;to were they stood. They were so surpr ised
by what the dragonfly was telling& nbsp;them that they simply did not know how to react. His
report had left them inexplicably speechless.
"Well letâ&eu ro;™s not have everyone all talk at&nbs p;the same time." Sparx sarcastically cracked.&nbs p;He
was attempting to use his shrewd&n bsp;sense of humor to break the group of their stunned
stupor. To his great&nbs p;satisfaction it appeared to have worked. As the four of them began
to blink&n bsp;their eyes and shake their heads. At  ;last they seemed to find their voices o nce
more to be able to respond to& nbsp;what they just heard.
"Well done S parx! This is most excellent news. Now t hat we know Malifor and his dark
f orces are gone we can take the citizens& nbsp;back to Warfang." said Cyril.
"Yes,&nbs p;quite right you are Cyril. The sooner we can get them back to the city th e sooner
we can get to work rebuil ding and repairing structures that were damag ed during the
war. Wouldn't you agree&n bsp;Terrador?"
"I agree Volteer. There is&nbs p;much that needs to be done there. Let& nbsp;us round up the
citizens and head& nbsp;back home to Warfang. As for the tw o of you, I wish you the best of&nb sp;
luck. Let us pray you find Ignitus&n bsp;and our two young heroes soon."
Hav ing wished the cheetah and dragonfly good&nbs p;luck Terrador took his tail mace and < br> crushed the boulder blocking the way out . This made the way out clear so th at they
could now leave the tunnels.&nb sp;He then turned and left with the othe r Guardians to gather
the citizens.
Hunter grabbed his bow and quiver of a rrows from where he had set them down.&n bsp;
Making sure they were firmly secured&nbs p;as he went through the tunnels exit. O n his right
side Sparx hovered beside&n bsp;him. And so they began their search.  ;
