Garnet read eyes watched as Fayt moved about the market, gathering everything they needed before they continued on their journey. Albel Nox stood outside the Inn, leaning against the cold stone of the wall. He watched darkly as Cliff went up to Fayt, leaned down and whispered something in his ear. Swallowing, as Fayt's eyes glistened as he looked up at Cliff and laughed. That was all the General could stand. Shoving away from the wall he stalking though the crowds, headed for thew gates of the city.
His Katana slashed though the air, bringing down his opponent and ending the seventh battle in the last hour. Sighing he lifted the blade and stared angrily at the blood that covered the steel. Why had what happened bothered him so much? The image of Fayt looking that happy burned though his mind like fire. Cursing he stabbed his blade into the earth. He knew that he would never be able to make Fayt smile like that, and he hated that knowledge. It seemed that yet again the Gods had turned their backs on the `Wicked one.'
“Albel?”
Despite himself he flinched. Not even turning around before responding. “What do you want, fool?”
Even though he had meant to sound aloof, the question had come out almost desperate. As if he were pleading with who was standing behind him.
Fayt shifted. “Are you . . . okay?”
He bit his lip not knowing if he should be afraid of Albel's temper. Sure enough Albel's crimson eyes flashed dangerously as his body pivoted to face Fayt.
“Why would it concern you? You're a fool and you're worthless! I don't need you to care about my well being!” With that he stormed away to the river, staring hotly into the cold clear waters.
“Go away Fayt.” He moaned, when he heard footfall behind him again.
“No, I won't. I care about you `cause I like you Albel.”
The longhaired swordsman's heartbeat sped up. “What do you mean?”
For once the hard tones of mocking had left his voice.
The blue haired teen smiled. “You're my friend.”
Albel clenched his teeth together in a mixture of anger, frustration and embarrassment. Friends. Fayt only thought of him as a friend. Albel felt jealousy fill his heart. It had to be that stupid girl. She was the only one that had laid claim to Fayt's heart. Turning around Albel took the few short strides and stood in front of the Earthling. He gently placed his hand ok Fayt's cheek.
“Would you feel differently if I did this?”
Leaning down only those few inches Albel's lips met Fayt's. His eyes widened as his male companion kissed him. It was more that Fayt's mind could comprehend at the moment. Especially with Albel's tongue caressing his lips like that. Wait…was he enjoying this? Fayt scrunched his eyes tightly shut. No, he couldn't be enjoying this. He wasn't gay he liked girls. He liked Sophia, but when the Elcoorian trailed his lips to the skin just under his ear and sucking, Fayt lost it. Throwing his head back and moaning. Gods that felt good…
At that moment Albel pulled away, taking a shuddering breath. “Can you still say I'm just your friend after you enjoyed that?”
Fayt stumbled back, his hand over his mouth. “I didn't!” he cried, turning and fleeing. His face was flushed with a mixture if arousal and deep confusion. Albel watched him go. The moan that Fayt had made still ringing in his ears. He groaned when his head cleared and he realized what he had just done. He'd probably just gone and blew any chance he might have had with Fayt. Growling darkly he walked back to his sword and sheathed it, blood and all. Then decided that he was going to take the long way back to town
…………………….
Fayt walked slowly back to the Inn. Why had Albel done that? His blush flamed back to life as he remember how it had felt when Albel's lips had touched that spot on his neck. He was so consumed with his thoughts that he didn't hear Cliff talking to him.
“Kid. Hey kid! Fayt!”
Said boy jumped and looked up at the Klausian.
“Huh?”
Cliff smiled. “Something on your mind?”
Fayt leaned away from the blond and shook his head. “No. N-Nothing.”
Cliff was about to let it drop when he noticed Fayt's neck. Reaching out he quickly calculated the situation. Sophia and the other girls had been here at the Inn the whole afternoon. The only one of them that hadn't been in town was . . .
“What did Albel do?” He asked taking hold of Fayt's shirt collar. The boy jerked back but the mark that Albel had left on his skin was already exposed.
Cliff's eyes narrowed, “Want to tell me how this happened?”
“I don't know!” Fayt cried frustration. “He seemed to be upset earlier. Well, more then he normally is. So I went to go see what was wrong. And . . . And he . . .” Fayt took a slow breath. “He kissed me.”
Cliff nodded as if expecting something like that. “Let's go inside and you can tell me everything.”
Fayt didn't say anything but followed nonetheless. Once they were alone Fayt fell onto one of the beds with a sigh. Tiredly he retold everything that had happened between him and Albel almost and hour ago.
“It sounds like he really shook you up.”
“Of course he did! He kissed me!”
“Does it really bother you that much?”
“Ye . . .” Fayt faltered, did it? He wasn't so sure anymore. He groaned and covered his face with his hands.
“I don't know. I've never really kissed anyone before but, I never thought of Albel like that before either.”
“Well, it is obvious that Albel does. Though he's got an odd way of showing it. So I guess the question is: what are you going to do about that?”
“I don't know.” Fayt whimpered. “Oh gods, I don't know.”
Cliff sighed. “What about Sophia?”
Fayt flopped back onto the bed and stared at the ceiling. He was quite for a long time. “Before this all happened I was really into her. I thought that we were going to be together forever. But now I'm not too sure I still feel that way. Even before Albel kissed . . .me.”
He shifted into his side and tucked his arm under his head. He was silent for an even longer period of time.
“Hey, Cliff?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you hate Albel? For you know, kissing me?”
The heavy built man crossed his arms over his chest. “Hmmm, well, having to question your sexuality because of what someone you trusted did. Though that might seem cruel, it's probably the way he is. So I don't think that I could truly hate him for finally opening up to someone. Now, if we were talking about his attitude, that would be a whole other story.”
Fayt took this information in before asking the next question that was nagging on his mind. “Do you think he's just interested for sex?”
The question startled Cliff, to say the least, but he answered honestly. “In my opinion of the guy, that would be a no. Why?”
Fayt smiled. “No reason.”
“Wait a minute. You're not thinking about . . .” he let the question hang in the air for the both knew what was meant.
Fayt's eyes glinted. “And what if I am?”
The look on Cliff's face was priceless! Fayt couldn't help but burst into uncontrollable laughter. It took the older a moment to realize that Fayt had just wanted to see his reaction.
“You are an evil little minx, you know that?”
“How can I be, if I am virgin?”
Cliff's eyes widened. “Really? You're still virgin?”
Fayt nodded, he didn't really care if others knew he was virgin or not. “Yeah. I'm just waiting for the right time.”
The blond snorted. “You sound like a girl. Specking of which, you're rooming with Albel tonight.”
The blue haired boy fell off the bed. “What?”
“I was going to tell you earlier. But this was far more amusing.”
“Gee, thanks. Even though I doubt that he will be back any time soon, or at all for that matter.”
As if on cue they heard the sound of Albel's husky voice in the hall. Followed by the high pitch of Sophia's voice.
Cliff groaned. “I really don't want to deal with another one of their cat fights.”
Fayt nodded. Albel and Sophia had been getting into vicious verbal fights nearly every time they saw each other.
“Well, I don't want to either.”
“Maybe Nel will take care of this one.”
“I hope so.” Fayt sighed, listening to the shouts.
“Come on, Albel! Don't be such a jerk.”
Albel growled. “No. I don't need to watch you hang all over him.”
“The switch rooms with Me.” she whined
“Not a chance. I am quite comfortable where I am.”
“Why?”
“Because Fayt is the only one out of you that I mildly trust.” his eyes glowed like embers. “I know what you say about me. And you can all go to hell.”
He turned his back on the girl and threw the door open to the room he would be sharing with Fayt. Taking in the body language of the toe there. Cliff was watching him like a hawk and Fayt was blushing slightly, staring at the floor. Interesting.
“Something wrong?” Albel asked in a mildly bored tone.
Cliff laid his hands on his knees. “Not really. We were just having a little chat.” Standing up he strutted to the door. “I'll talk to ya later Fayt, `Kay?”
The boy just nodded, and listened to his pulse as Cliff shut the door. He was now alone with Albel. He didn't know weather to say something about what had happened or not. After a while he looked up to find that Albel was staring at him. His face flamed and he dropped his gaze again.
“Aren't you going to say something?”
Fayt's head jerked up at the question. “Huh?”
Albel sneered. “Don't you want to know why I did what I did?”
Fayt smiled. “I think it is pretty obvious why you did.”
The longhaired one nodded carefully. “Doesn't it bother you?”
Fayt pondered about that. Sure, it had at first but the more he had thought about it the less it bothered him. He was more confused about how he felt about it than anything else. At the moment anyway.
“No, not really.” At least he answered half truthfully.
Albel lowered his eyes, giving him that sleepy-bored look. Slowly he made his way over to Fayt. The other boy just sat there on the bed looking lost. Setting his katana down he leaned over Fayt, pushing him against the mattress.
“You're a fool.” he whispered placing his good arm on the bed by Fayt's head.
Fayt whimpered. Not ever sure why, but the look in Albel's eyes was frightening, yet alluring. He reached up to touch Albel's cheek. “You're pretty.”
Albel looked shocked, and slightly offended. He pulled himself off the bed and turned away. Fayt trembled, he hadn't even meant to say that. It had just came out. Standing up he reached for Albel. Upon contact Albel jerked away, his temper was rising. Fayt could feel it, and although he knew he should back off he needed to apologize.
“Albel, I didn't mean it like that.”
Whirling around Albel stared icily at Fayt. “What did you mean then?”
“I . . . I don't know. I'm sorry, but you're attractive.” Fayt bite his lip as he fumbled over those words in his mind.
It was then that Albel smiled. “You really are a fool.” he took a step forward and lightly touched Fayt's lips with his own.

That is it for chapter one. I hope you all like it. This is also the first Star Ocean fic that I have posted. And I haven't gotten that far in the game yet. So I am sorry for the OOCness if there is any. I tried to keep the characters as close to IC as I could. As for Albel's behavior, from what I have seen of him in the game, it is hard to tell just what he is thinking and might do. So keeping him IC is kinda difficult.
