Chapter 6- Of Insurrection andLiberation
The colony of Dathos had a bio-dome covering it from the harsh environment of Dathos Secundus itself. The colony from a sky view appeared small but once landed and inside the crew of The Mistress discovered that it descended close to forty stories below the ground and was close to four miles in diameter. It was inhabited by a little more than six hundred original colonists that worked within the mines the lay to the west of the colony. Another eight hundred refugees, space scum, traveling workers, and other such drifters inhabited and worked the mines as well.
Aayla, Tivia, and Hadda approached Veaok's stolen fortress down a crowded street as lunch hour began. The “fortress” was not more than a one time Republic communications outpost. It stood directly in the middle of the bio-dome. It had its own transit track that ran from four different directions of the colony.
The three of them were accompanied by a group of ten of Ebbin Fe'Shod's revolutionaries disguised as maintenance workers carrying gear. In reality all the containers the men carried held blasters and in Aayla's case, a lightsaber and a blaster. The street was filled sparsely with workers returning to their jobs when they reached the first pickup booth for the transit to the fortress.
Tivia set her box down and came to stand next to Aayla. They were both disguised in tight trousers and coats that had the reek of oil and lubricants and were smudged and stained to look as if they were in heavy use. Tivia looked up to the Fortress and spoke quietly. “I remember when Bane had us searching for you he said he could sense you. It was how he knew exactly where you were.” She glanced at the silent and blank faced rogue Jedi. “Can you, you know, sense where he is?”
Aayla glanced at the fortress. “Yes. He is some where in the lower levels.” She returned Tivia's gaze. “I won't be using my abilities quite yet though.”
Hadda came over and spat. “Why?” Tivia glared at him he held up his hands in defense. “What did I do?”
Before Tivia could respond Aayla answered. “I won't be using my abilities because Veaok and his apprentices will be able to sense it. It would give us away immediately.” The transit car stopped at the station in a spray of fumes and steam. She picked up her tool box and walked into the car. “I will use them once the battle begins but until then I cannot use the Force.”
All the men loaded up and one warned off a single worker who tried to load up with them as well. He spoke grimly and pointed the other direction; the worker looked confused and wandered off. He turned around and saw Aayla looking at what he had done. He smiled, his mouth was lacking many teeth and he was missing one eye. He looked more like a space pirate than a freedom fighter. “Sorry Miss, but we don't want any non-combatants involved.”
Aayla had fought in the Clone Wars and had participated in enough conflicts to know that despite the man's rough appearance and non-professional air that he would fight and die for what he believed in. That was the way of revolutions typically. Those who fought were willing to die for their cause, no matter how rag tag they may appear.
The transit shot forward down the track buildings flying by as the vehicle approached its destination. It was silent in the car as all examined themselves before the coming confrontation. Aayla began to calm herself with several deep breaths. She looked within herself and found a secluded and serene portion of quietness. A meditative state came over her as her breathing evened and her anxiety gripped insides loosened. She looked at the fortress that lay in front of her and she calmed her wits. With a deep breath she knew she was as ready as she would ever be.
Tivia broke the silence with a sarcastic. “A revolution… how the hell does Bane always get us into these kinds of messes?” Hadda snickered and some of the soldiers let out dark chuckles others looked remorsefully at the red skinned woman. Aayla did not let out as much as a sigh. She was prepared to go find Bane, whether it be through wars, revolutions, or even star fleets; she knew she would find him.
Within Darth Veaok's fortress.
Bane stood from his exercises as his cell door opened. Ebbin entered with a tray of steaming hot food, his steps were hurried. Bane had not heard from Ebbin for a day and had no idea if a rescue was even occurring. The rebel tossed the tray to the bench and removed his helmet. His eyes were wild and excited. Before the man could even utter a word Bane knew what was about to happen.
Ebbin glanced behind him before speaking quietly. “All those talks you had with Narros seemed to have paid off. In the soldier's cafeteria Narros is riling up his mercenaries to show the Imperial soldiers exactly what they're made of.” He glanced behind him once more. “Your crew members have arrived and are accessing the compound now.” Bane nodded as Ebbin hurriedly continued. “I need to go retrieve my team and then we will come free you.” He formed a fist and growled. “Then the battle may begin.”
With that the man left. Bane shook his head. He honestly did not know if it was good luck or bad luck that got him into situations such as this but regardless he knew that he was either dieing or running away a free man within the next few hours. He ignored the steaming food and grabbed his shirt.
A sudden thundering caused his head to snap to the ceiling. Something had exploded and Bane had a feeling the revolutionaries had nothing to do with it. He did not know what was happening and it was highly vexing. He found himself pacing as several more explosions sounded. The sudden sound of blasters outside his door made him run to the small opening at eye level to look out.
There were several of Veaok's soldiers in armor like Ebbin's firing up the farthest ramp towards a foe he could not see. One of them dropped screaming as a bolt hit him in the chest. They had flipped the two desks that served as a guard station on their sides for cover. They continued their fire fight and he made his way back to his bench. He had to try and get out.
He focused and raised his hand towards the door. His mind felt beaten and bruised from all the constant bombarding from Veaok, it was a huge test of endurance trying to cause the door to open or fly off its hinges. Sweat beaded on his forehead and he his hand began to shake. He let it drop tiredly. He could not open the door.
He looked at the floor as the blaster shots continued. He was trapped and for once he did not know if things were going to work out. Bane thought about Aayla and how much he wished he could have seen her just once more. He heard a shout from out in the hall and he stood up tiredly and went to the door. It was Ziezsha.
Her lightsaber was drawn and the mercenaries within cover shot at her desperately. Her lightsaber waved and bolts ricocheted off. She flipped into their midst and with a gleeful laugh she began dismembering the men. The remaining three ran. She beheaded the closest with an easy snap of her weapon. With a sick smile and a flick of her wrist one of the tables spun down the hallway and crashed into a screaming soldier and carried him speedily towards the wall and ramp next to the Banes cell. The man's scream was cut off short as his body slammed hard enough against the wall for broken bones to be heard and his head to splatter gorily against the cement.
The final man spun around, dropped to his knees, lowered his weapon to the ground, and raised his hands. His eyes were desperate and his voice pleading. “I surrender! Mistress I surrender!”
Fully armored ex-Imperial soldiers moved forward to seize him but were stopped with a single raised hand from Ziezsha. She walked forward her lightsaber humming hungrily. Her eyes looked insane and her smile was all teeth. She looked like a predator looking forward to playing with its prey. She stopped right in front of the man. She lowered her head to his level, her eyes sparkling.
“You surrender?” She asked sweetly.
The man nodded quickly. “Yes Mistress! I was misled.”
She continued smiling and her voice turned into a growl. “I want to hear you beg.”
The man faltered and coughed; by a cruel twist of fate some of his spittle flecked on the Dark Jedi. Bane watched as Ziezsha's eyes widened and she wiped away the saliva with a look of disgust. She grabbed the man by the head and yanked it forward brutally.
“You have soiled me scum!”
The man began to babble wide eyed and afraid. It was not necessary what Ziezsha was doing, Bane knew, but the man was doomed. Ziezsha never spared anyone unless directly ordered by Veaok himself, which happened quite rarely. He watched as the doomed man began to beg. Ziezsha watched him with an insane grin on her face.
She grabbed him by the head and pulled up. “Stand up!” The soldier stood, his hands still raised and his lips still bubbling apologies.
She patted the man's unshaven cheek with a gloved hand. “That's not good enough.” Her lightsaber flashed and suddenly the man was screaming as his arms tumbled to his sides and his legs were severed beneath him. As he fell hard to the floor Ziezsha wickedly laughed out loud. She spun and the man's head toppled from his shoulders. She motioned the men behind her and spoke, her voice calm.
“Retrieve the prisoner. We return to Lord Veaok's chambers immediately.”
Bane rushed back to his bench and grabbed his tray of still hot food. He ran back to the door and braced his back to the wall. The door's lock sounded and it swung inward. A soldier wandered in confused. Bane focused his breath and made his move.
With one blinding motion he smashed the tray into the visor of the man's helmet. The soldier dropped and Bane's hand motioned to the blaster on the soldiers belt. It shot out, thankfully, into his hand and he spun into the doorway. Four surprised troopers were raising their weapons.
With a growl he shot his weapon and charged forward. One fell and he toppled another. The third tried to bring his weapon to Bane but he was too fast. He slammed his shoulder into the man's stomach and blasted the fourth in the face of his helmet. Bane brutally kicked the one who had been knocked into the wall in the face and turned around.
Ziezsha stood with a smirk over her recent victim. She extended her lightsaber and began to walk forward. Her eyes sparkled and she stopped a few feet away, he could see his lightsaber on her belt. “That was cute Atammar. Now why don't you stop being so childish and come with me.”
He raised his blaster. He was sick of her little quips and attitude. He spoke flatly. “I don't think I'll be accompanying you today Ziezsha. Instead I think I'll kill you.” He squeezed the trigger. The blast was repelled by her and he saw her face turn into a mask of fury.
“You dare attack me?” She spat. “You have a simple blaster. I have a lightsaber. I will not have much trouble in dispatching you!” She moved forward quickly. “Now come here!” Bane jumped to the table that was crookedly leaning against the bloody wall just as she reached him and swung her weapon. The table fell with a loud searing noise and he flew over her head.
She growled and spun her weapon aiming for his head. Bane ducked and slammed his fist into her stomach and carried her to the wall as she let out a painful groan. He slammed her against the bloody cement and raised his fist for another blow and was sent flying across the floor and lost his blaster among the dead troopers. Ziezsha coughed and lowered her hand. She moved forward with a snarl on her face. Bane knew that there was no realistic way he would survive. So he made do with scooting back while searching for a weapon. He would not let the bitch kill him that easily.
Else where in the Fortress.
Aayla had remove d her jacket once the gunfire had been heard. None of the rebels had any clue as to what the large explosions had been but all had pulled out their weapons and slipped on white arm bands. Now they moved through the hallways of the fort shooting any of the blast armored soldiers they found. They met up at a rendezvous point for the second and third teams of the revolutionary group.
Hadda crouched holding a blaster rifle behind a support on the wall. “Any clue when your men are supposed to get here?”
Captain De'Shoda glanced at him. “They should have been here.”
Aayla gripped a blaster and kept her lightsaber hidden. It was not the time to reveal herself quite yet. She was growing increasingly anxious for she could feel Bane's desperation as she waited for the other revolutionaries to arrive at the large maintenance room. Gunshots rang out and two ex-Imperial soldiers tumbled into the hallway. One dropped dead and the second backed into the corner of the hallway. Several men bearing white armbands ran into the hallway and began ramming knives into the man in the corner. Blood splashed on the floor and the soldier fell with a moan into his own fluids. The men rushed into the barricaded room.
Ebbin Fe'Shod ran up to them and all the rebels moved out of the room. With out a word all of them rushed down the hallway. Aayla moved up next to Ebbin just as they came into a large entry hall. Inside battling loyalist forces were stationed. The room was singed from dozens of blasts and many bodies lay strewn around. There was a passageway leading down to the innards of the fortress towards the back with a stairway and an elevator leading upward.
The rebels rushed in their armbands shining brightly as they fired on the few remaining loyalists. The troopers ducked behind their dead comrades and fired back at the new assailants. Hadda rushed forward and tackled one man to the ground. Tivia came up and shot the man in the head and kept rushing forward.
She shouted over her shoulder. “That's one me zero you Det'Hetta!”
Hadda stood and shot past her cheek and a man tumbled over the raised entrance to the downstairs. “That would be one-one Tiv.”
Aayla rushed forward her blaster firing clumsily in her hands. She was doing just enough damage to keep the enemy blinking as the more blaster prone soldiers moved forward to dispatch the enemy. After several minutes of firing she growled and threw the blaster at a soldier guarding the downstairs ramp. It hit the man in the helmet and as he fell backwards in surprise her lightsaber came to life in her hands, the green glow shining on her azure skin. She flipped over and the man fell with a cut down his torso.
She deflected two shots into a trooper rushing up to support his fallen comrade. He tumbled with an armored crash and rolled down the ramp into the lower wall. With out pausing she Force leapt back to the battling rebels. She landed lightly and one of the troopers spun around his blaster raised to shoot. Her saber hummed and the man fell apart. Captain De'Shoda rammed a knife into the throat of the final trooper and threw him against the wall.
Ebbin turned around his dark features covered in sweat. He motioned to several of the other rebels. “Tunn take your men and begin the assault upstairs and move to the cafeteria. Remember to take any and all prisoners.” The soldiers nodded and rushed to the ramp leading upstairs. He turned to Aayla, Tivia, and Hadda. “Your captain is being held down stairs.” He waved over De'Shoda and his men. “Captain De'Shoda shall accompany you.”
Aayla watched as the six rebels and Tivia began to trot over to the ramp leading downward. She spoke with out looking at Ebbin. “Once we have Bane we will move upward to assist you.”
He looked at her. “We will see you soon.”
She led the charge down into the depths of the fort with grim determination.
Down in the prison sector.
Ziezsha moved forward her saber humming. She smiled as he jumped for a blaster on the ground. She lifted a dead corpse and threw it at Bane. He rolled to the side as it crashed past him and skidded across the floor taking the blaster with it. She laughed out loud and threw the second table at him. He simply leapt over it and landed lightly his hands out to try and ward off any Force attacks she may have launched. She had not stopped her easy stride.
She sneered. “I must commend you Atammar. You really do not know how to accept your fate.”
His back hit the wall and he stood defensively. His mind was completely focused on the fight to the extent that he did not see the single warrior descending down the ramp towards he and the Sith. He knew he would die the woman was armed to heavily for him to defend against. Ziezsha moved forward a snarl on her face her lightsaber raised to kill Bane. He faced her.
Ziezsha swung the lightsaber downward and it was stopped with a loud rebounding crackle as a green saber met the Sith's red. Ziezsha growled in surprise as Aayla looked at her coolly. When she spoke her voice was colder than her gaze.
“Are you attacking my man, Sith?”
Ziezsha's lightsaber darted towards Aayla's unshakeable face and her blow was blocked. The red haired woman smiled evilly. “If I told you that he fucked me and moaned out my name instead of yours, Jedi, would that make you jealous?” Aayla let out her own growl and their lightsabers clashed red and green crossing. Bane watched and lowered his hands. He was still processing the sudden appearance of his blue skinned angel.
The rogue Jedi and the Sith Warrior fought back and forth across the hallway. The two women's faces were determined and grim. There were no growls or speeches. They simply fought. Bane watched his lightsaber bounce on Ziezsha's belt and began to move forward. Aayla swept her blade closely and the two women were brought mere inches from each others faces. Bane darted forward and Forced his saber off of Ziezsha's belt and looked for an opening to aid Aayla, there was none.
With a snarl the Sith whirled her lightsaber and flipped backwards. Before Bane could move Aayla flew forward. Ziezsha landed and was immediately driven backwards by Aayla's assault. The two dueled viciously. Bane could find no room to try and support Aayla. They had come to the second ramp and in their maddening duel began to ascend upwards. Ziezsha fought bare toothed and was beginning to sweat. Aayla just pushed harder and harder until the two began a running battle that took them out of Bane's sight.
Bane spun around as one of Veaok's troopers tumbled down the ramp behind him. “Bane!” Tivia yelled as she ran down the stairs and gave him a shove towards the second ramp. “We're here to rescue you!”
Hadda followed and was tailed by six rebels in grey blast armor and white armbands. “Whether you like it or not.” He added happily.
He nodded and motioned them forward. “Now is not the time for talk, Aayla fights a Sith and we must find them.” With that he charged after his fighting companion his foot steps ringing out on the cement.
“So much for thank-you's.” Hadda muttered and led the charge up the ramp.
Several minutes, and floors, later.
Aayla chased the Sith through the corridors of the fort their sabers flickering and cutting at each other. They ran through fire fights between armed rebels and Veaok's men and caused soldiers to jump out of the way. Aayla attacked with brutal blows and strived to kill the Sith.
It was thanks to scum such as the woman she fought now that her Order had been destroyed, her friends killed, and her hearts desire stolen, tortured, and imprisoned. With each blow Aayla wanted nothing more than to see the woman's head on the ground. So with each blow she went harder.
They found themselves fighting outside as the Sith led her up maintenance walkways that ran around the outside of the fort. Ziezsha shoved back her assailant and jumped to a catwalk. Aayla drew back her lightsaber and with a flick of her wrist and a push of the Force the weapon spun upward and clove the catwalk in two. Ziezsha tumbled as Aayla's saber flew back to her hand and she leapt on top of the woman.
Her weapon came through the air and was blocked by a desperate block from the fallen Sith. Behind her Bane charged up a ramp his own lightsaber out. Aayla looked down at the woman with an icy stare. In one fluid motion she spun her weapon, threw Ziezsha's saber from her hand, and severed the Sith's arm at the elbow.
Ziezsha screamed in agony and her last hand grasped her severed stump. Aayla drew back her lightsaber for the death stab but the Sith screamed at her and her arm shot outward. A burst of lightning flew from the woman's hand and Aayla let out a cry as she was blasted backward. She slammed against the ground, her lightsaber tumbled from her grasp, and she skidded to the raised wall that served as railing and moaned out in pain. Aayla watched disappointedly as the Sith stood on shaky legs with a painful gasp. She ran to the far door moaning and swerving with unsteady steps. Ziezsha stumbled out of the room into the elevator whimpering and clutching at her severed arm.
“Aayla!”
Her entire body ached. She heard footsteps and suddenly someone was gently picking up her up. She opened her eyes painfully. She saw Bane. She smiled, even through the pain she could feel the warm honey glow within her grow as she looked upon him. He looked haggard, tired, and unshaven; he was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. Her hand came up and stroked the side of his face as sunlight from Dathos's sun warmed her. In her daze she tapped his nose.
“Now we're even, love.”
His hands were checking her pulse and still he let out a small snicker. She sat up and leaned her head against his shoulder. She absorbed the sensation of him and sighed contentedly. She looked into his blue eyes and had the sudden urge to kiss him. She leaned in and he watched her with a wary expression. She got closer and knew that she wanted, needed, to taste him. She could feel his warm breath on her slightly open lips. A sudden explosion came from above them caused both to look up and see one of the side of the fortress blow out in fire and debris.
He grabbed her hand and looked at her with concern. “Can you walk?”
She reluctantly shook her head of the thoughts that had inhabited them and stood up with him. “Yes. I'm sorry for my… behavior.” She bent down and picked up her lightsaber. She turned back to Bane. “I can't believe I let her get away.”
Bane began to jog up the walkway towards the elevator door and hit the button. He looked at her tiredly. “I've been chasing them for ten years, I know how you feel.” He laughed. “You're no worse for wear and you removed a limb from Ziezsha. If anything you just made more progress than I have for three years.” He looked to the elevator as it opened. “It is time for us to find Veaok and end this.” He smiled at her. “We can talk later, but right now we have a mission.”
Veaok's grand chamber.
Veaok sat and listened to his apprentice's forces battle below him. He smiled. It had all gone according to plan. He had planned for his two apprentices to come to open conflict. It was his way of weeding out the weak. His chamber was large and lit dimly. He was not fond of bright lights. His lightsaber sat beneath his hand and a beautiful slave girl was at his feet. He fed her a small berry-like fruits and stroked her dark haired head with a smile.
“Mirri, my pet…” He did not take carnal physical liberties with her. That would have been defiling and dirty. Instead she was literally his pet. He fed her and gave her a place to live. He did not care for her beyond the entertainment that she gave him in dance and soft sounds. He had not let her learn to talk fully. He knew that within the next six months he would have her killed or tossed to a random planet since she would be too old for his taste.
The elevator doors opened and Ziezsha stumbled into the chamber. He knew Ziezsha had much potential and would most likely defeat Narros and become a mighty Sith Mistress if she could learn how to control her temper, and by the look on her sweat soaked face she had let it get the better of her. He was still petting Mirri and feeding her when Ziezsha dropped before him clutching her stump of an arm. He looked at her blankly. Had Narros actually defeated her?
“My Lord!” She cried to the floor. “My… arm!”
He stood and Mirri backed to the side of the throne in fear. Veaok looked over her in distaste. “Has Narros bested you girl?”
She shook her sweat soaked face. “No, my lord.” She looked at the ground in shame. “It is the bastard Atammar! He has escaped with his Jedi whore's aid. She did… this to me!” She swooned on the ground her black form fitting robes shifting. She moaned out. “My arm…” Veaok ignored her and clicked a communications button on his throne.
“Captain.”
“Yes, Lord Veaok?” A mono toned voice asked.
“Contact Narros and tell him to come to me immediately.” He looked down at the sniffling Ziezsha. “That will be all.”
He sat back down and Mirri moved under his hand as he covered his head with his black robe. His pale fingers ran through her combed hair as he looked down upon his apprentice. He was surprised, though he did not show it. He had always thought Ziezsha to be stronger than what she showed. But Atammar was who he was. Veaok was not surprised that he had escaped. He only regretted not having another day with Attamar. He had been close to having another apprentice. Had he taken Bane he knew he would have rose in power by leaps and bounds. He might have even toppled Lord Sidious. That being said Veaok also knew that it was time to leave.
The elevator opened and Narros entered with a handful of his men. He glanced at Ziezsha and smiled as he went to a knee and bowed to his master. “Yes master? You sent for me?”
Veaok motioned him forward. He examined Narros. His apprentice watched the floor silently with a victorious grin on his face. Veaok knew that Narros was becoming more and more impetuous and forward with his own plans. It was time for him to become a Lord. Veaok smiled, had Narros known that his coming promotion was to abandon him he would have been furious.
“Narros you have served me for many years.” Veaok said raspily as he stroked Mirri's cheek. “And it is time for your due reward.” He stood his robes sighing. “Rise, Lord Darth Narros!”
Narros rose and bowed his head. “Thank you Lord Veaok.”
Narros motioned to Ziezsha. “Atammar has escaped and I am leaving Dathos on an errand. I leave its populace and contents to your rule.” It was time to save his skin and find Ziezsha a new arm. He picked up the leash that Mirri was attached to and she followed him as he took several steps forward. He stopped next to the prideful Narros. “Remember that Atammar is powerful, but you are greater, crush him.”
Narros nodded his black ringed eyes sparkling. “Your advice is heeded.” He motioned to his men. “Captain call a cease fire with what remains of my former comrades forces and escort them out.” He looked back to Veaok. “You will be escorted to the Preator Lord Veaok.”
Veaok smiled. The arrogant fool. “Thank you Lord Narros.” He motioned to two soldiers who moved to help the near catatonic Ziezsha. “Perhaps the next time we meet you will have your own apprentice.” With that he walked to the elevator. He watched as Narros sat in the throne and smiled. All the pieces were in place and now he was free to leave down the secret elevator rail that ran outside of the fortress and would take him directly to the transit track.
Down several stories a different story continues.
Bane cut another man in two. He had served in war on several occasions, yet it did not halt he fact that he had already killed twenty troopers. He may have been a smuggler and a part time bounty hunter but he still found himself finding battles where he could help. This revolution was minor and small but it did not halt his feelings that it had to happen.
He watched Aayla hack her way to the elevators and motion forward the two squads of rebels that she led. She was gorgeous and every feeling his body called for him to go to her. When they had been on the outside catwalk he knew she had been delusional from pain and he had drawn back from kissing her. He did not want to greet her while she was in such a state.
The soldiers all stopped to reload and take care of the wounded. Bane ked Captain De'Shoda and his squad and after talking to him briefly he walked among the soldiers to see if he could help the wounded and was joined by Tivia. She looked at him closely and felt a on his torso for bruises. He stared at her and yelped as she touched a painfully, and possibly broken, rib.
“Tivia what the hell are you doing!”
She smiled sweetly. “Don't worry Bane we only traveled all over the goddamn galaxy searching for you.” She poked him again and he slapped away her hand with an irritated swat. “Your lady led us directly to you.”
“I know I was trying to contact her the entire time.”
She looked at the dead soldiers. “It's odd how easily we fall into the routine of taking life.” She sighed and turned back to Bane. “We came for you. You should at least be grateful. That's all I'm saying.” She holstered her blaster. “You can allow a being who may as well be your sister a chance to examine you.”
Bane chuckled. “How about after we get out of this fight I'll thank all of you.”
Hadda walked up. “I hope that thank you comes with a nude massage.”
Bane snorted. “I'd rather fuck a Rancor.”
Ebbin Fe'Shod approached. “We are close Bane Atammar. Veaok's throne room is the next level.” He motioned to his men. “The others will leave now unless you would prefer more support.”
Bane nodded. “I will challenge Veaok.” At the look from Ebbin he shrugged. “He'd destroy your group single handedly.”
Ebbin nodded. “You are Jedi.”
Bane sighed. “Ebbin I told you. I am not a Jedi.” He motioned to Captain De'Shoda's squad. “I will lead De'Shoda and his men.” He glanced at the mass of armed combatants. “Where will the others go?”
Ebbin shouted to De'Shoda and turned back to Bane. “A portion shall descend into the colony and detain the soldiers who were not in the fortress. The others will clean out the rest of the fort.” He smiled his teeth almost glowing. “Then we shall be free.”
Captain De'Shoda called out and all of the freedom fighters moved towards the elevators and ramps that descended. Bane made his way through the crowd of thirty or so rebels to Aayla. She stood in front of a squad of rebels. He came up on her right and touched her arm. She turned and her eyes smiled but her features remained grim.
“Where are you off to?”
She glanced at the ramp. “The Western guard center. What about you?”
He motioned to the elevator. “I am going to confront Veaok. For a final time.”
She looked at him and he felt his heart soften. He loved her dearly. Her hand suddenly came out and in front of all the soldiers she brushed his brow and cheek with a sensual hand. One of the men let out a tired hoot, but she ignored him. She leaned closely and her hazel eyes stared deeply into his own. He was lost in her gaze.
Her breath was soft and had the slight scent of cinnamon. She murmured. “Come back to me.”
“You have my word.”
With that Aayla turned and led her men up the ramp. They would see each other again.
Hadda snorted as Bane made his way over to his squad. “I thought Jedi were supposed to be all emotionless and boring.” He looked at Tivia. “Now that our Captain is back we can start being chased by the Empire once more. In a very un-Jedi manner.”
Tivia nodded and responded knowingly. “Or we can steal a Rancor from a Rodian slave trader and incur a gang war.”
Bane rubbed his eyes in irritation. “That only happened once.”
Within the elevator ascending to the throne room.
“When we enter fight the guards and secure the doors. I will deal with Veaok.” Bane said firmly.
De'Shoda nodded and checked his blaster rifle once more. “You know, I didn't think you were going to actually help us.” He lowered his rifle. “I actually thought you were going to depart once your cell door was opened.” He stared straight ahead. Bane couldn't decide if he was offended or not. De'Shoda continued. “It is a welcome surprise and correction on my part. Thank you Bane Atammar.”
Bane twirled his lightsaber in his hands. “It's not in me to abandon people with a cause such as your own. I am only doing my part in the battle plan.”
De'Shoda spoke out loud to the squad. “May the Fates grant us one last drink.”
The door dinged and Bane spoke quietly. “If we survive this I'm buying all of us a round.”
The throne room was large with the center of the parallel wall extending into a stair ascending stage that kept the throne taller than all others in the room. The edges of the room were ringed with wall connected pillars. There were guards off to the right flank within a fortified room. But what caught Bane's eye was the figure who sat jauntily in the throne.
Narros smiled. “Atammar.”
Bane motioned to the guards. “Take them De'Shoda.”
He walked forward, his steps ringing loudly on the floor as the rebels rushed to their duties. He did not extend his lightsaber yet instead he kept it in his fist. He stopped in the middle of the room as Fe'Shoda's men detained the troopers in the guard room. “Where is your master Narros.”
Narros smiled and spread his arms wide. “I am no ones lesser.”
Bane did not change his icy stare. “Congratulations.”
Narros's saber extended and he smiled. “I wanted to thank your pretty Twi'lek whore for dealing with Ziezsha.” He moved down the stairs quickly. “But you will have to do.”
Bane's weapon came out and the two sabers began to slam against each other. The two men fought evenly trading little ground. They parried and returned attacks and moved fluidly across the ground. Narros's teeth were bared and he growled with each swing. Bane remained cool and collected. He would not let his intense hatred for the man disrupt his almost meditative state that he fought in. As he caught Narros's attack up high he kicked the other man in the chest and flipped backwards.
Narros tumbled into the stairs to the throne and was immediately set upon by Bane. The rogue Jedi's lightsaber swung seeking his flesh as he defended himself from the ground and tried to back up. He rolled to the side and sparks flew as Bane's purple saber slashed a molten line in the stone. He attacked Bane's blind side but w as blocked and a painful kick in the face sent him tumbling across the stairs and his lightsaber spinning to the floor.
Suddenly Bane was over the Sith his lightsaber a few precious inches away from Narros's chest. “Where is Veaok? Tell me and I'll make your death quick.” Bane hissed.
Narros smiled. “He gave me lordship and left while you stupidly slugged your way through the fort.” He laughed. “You have failed again Bane Atammar!” He laughed louder and narrowed his eyes. “And if you think me beaten…” His saber suddenly shot to his hand and knocked away Bane's and slashed at the smugglers stomach. “You are wrong!”
Bane fell back as Narros charged forward gleefully savoring the final moments before murdering the rogue Jedi. Bane blocked his attacks but his feet continued their track backward and his face shone with sweat. Narros began to let out loud growls as he attacked the other man.
Bane spun his saber and parried an attack and rotated his lightsaber so that he grasped it extended behind his back. Narros let out a victorious guttural yell and slammed a mighty downward swing at the open man. Bane made his move and darted forward blocking the blow with his backwards lightsaber and spinning his body behind Narros. In half a heart beat his saber spun forward and he rammed it through Narros's chest cavity. The Sith's yell cut off short and Bane's sweat soaked face leaned to the man's ear.
“I'll see you in hell!”
He let the Sith slide off of the weapon and tumble to the floor. He stared down at the man who had murdered hundreds of innocents and he felt his cause for chasing Veaok justified. The light was gone from Narros's eyes and Bane retracted his lightsaber. He had not caught Veaok though. The damned Sith was clever and if Bane knew him, he would be headed for a Sith hide out. He turned around and headed to the elevator. De'Shoda shouted.
“Bane where are you going?”
Bane hit the button and replied. “I'm going to go find the bastard that started this.”
Outside on the entry steps to the Dathosian Outpost.
Aayla Secura, Hadda Det'Hetta, and Tivia Jyoula stood behind their Captain. He stood grimly as the systems sun shone on him silhouetting his form. He watched the form of the Sith ship The Praetor blast its way off of Dathos Secundus with an ice cold glare in his blue eyes. He turned around and faced his friends.
“We will continue our pursuit immediately.”
Hadda rubbed his stomach. “How about we pursue after we resupply, refuel, and eat.” He motioned behind Bane. “Veaok is not good at shaking us. We'll find him again.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “And you still have not thanked us for coming to your rescue.”
Tivia nodded. “You wouldn't believe what we did to even get the location of this backwater world.” She crossed her arms under breasts. “For once I agree with Hadda. Don't get so caught up about some bastard like Veaok. We will find him once more.” She arched an eyebrow. “If it were not for us Veaok would have you wiping his ass and eating from his hand.” She motioned to Aayla. “And your Lady fought and killed for you. Be appreciative Bane Atammar.”
Aayla felt her mouth hanging open and closed it. It was not only abrasive and blunt, but the tone as well of the Zeltron's voice was razor sharp. She looked at Bane and saw his face lighten. He finally sighed and walked forward muttering. He reached them and in one quick motion took them in one large hug.
“Thank you all for risking your lives on my behalf. I love all of you dearly and I would gladly and unhesitatingly come to your aid if you were ever in trouble. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I am some times blinded by my mission to find and bring the Sith to justice. I apologize if I have been selfish.”
He stood back. “Happy?”
Tivia laughed and Hadda clapped loudly at Bane's words. Aayla just smiled at him as he extended his hand to her. She moved forward and he took her hand in his gently. It sent electricity up her arm as he smiled at her and dragged her into a deep embrace. She sighed contentedly as he squeezed her. Her heart soared as she smelled him and she rubbed her face against his chest. They were both filthy and had blood and sweat crusting their bodies but neither cared. He only held her and their Force sensitive minds touched. Both felt only one thing from the other. A shining golden and adoring aurora of love poured into both and happy smiles were stuck on their faces. Bane looked deeply into her eyes and she let out a small giggle.
Tivia whistled loudly and Hadda spat and rolled his eyes. “Find a room you two.”
Several hours later at the Colony Convocation Hall.
“We are now free!” Ebbin Fe'Shod shouted. There were fifty or more white armband sporting rebels shouting from the ground and the entire population of Dathos thundered their praise from the stands. He motioned to the four captains to his right and the crew of The Mistress. “It is thanks to these brave men and women that we are able to walk with out fear!” He raised his arms to the gathered soldiers. “To you brave fighters who volunteered to combat the forces of Darth Veaok Dathos owes you the greatest debt!” The applause grew louder. He held up a hand and the crowd quieted. His voice was tinged with sadness. “But let us not forget those fallen warriors. All thirty eight of their families shall receive payment for their deaths from the coffers to make due with a missing member. To these fallen heroes will all the honor of our victory be dedicated.” He bowed his head. “May they be at rest in Paradise.” He looked to the stands once more. “Let us never forget what they died for. They fell screaming for our freedom. Let Dathos Secundus never again fall into the hands of a tyrant! Never again shall we be slaves! For we are sentient creatures not made for the bonds of a master! Let us never forget! We are free!” He screamed his dark muscular arms shaking with his voice.
The crowd thundered. Their screams joined Ebbin's and drowned him out. The entire convocation center shook with the sounds of joy. All on the stage screamed with them. Whether rogue Jedi or mine worker turned military commander. All screamed for the greatest act on Dathos since its founding.
It was during the massive celebration that followed that the crew of The Mistress ate and drank with the now freed citizens. Their names were spread through the crowds as traveling space heroes, even the word Jedi was used to describe the crew. Aayla and Bane denied all knowledge of the Jedi since they did not want to give the Empire any hints that would have been to obvious. People spoke of The Mistress almost as if they spoke of a gods chariot.
Bane went to Ebbin and the two laughed and grasped each other's forearms. Bane gave the man a hug. He had several drinks and he felt a slight buzz. “Ebbin I want to thank you for freeing me.”
“I want to thank you. Had it not been for you and your friends actions we may have never gotten the Sith off of our planet.” He grabbed Tivia as she walked by and hugged them both. “Your crew and your ship are fast becoming a local tale.” He motioned to where Hadda sat among a huge group of younglings and acted out some of the adventures that The Mistress had been on. Ebbin turned around and raised his drink. “We drink to those who fell.” All three drained their cups.
Much later.
Aayla was drunk. She had only been intoxicated several times in her life but as she helped Bane back to the ship she was glad she had celebrated with the Dathosian people. Bane sang loudly, and badly, and hugged her closely as they stumbled back to the Mistress. She laughed as drunken miners shouted to the group as they wandered down the street to the ship dock.
“It's the Saviors of Dathos!” They continued to yell.
Hadda and Tivia walked with them, Hadda with a woman under his arm. They all glowed. Tivia grasped a large jug of spiced wine with another pretty woman whom Tivia had enticed into sleeping with her. The city would continue to celebrate for the rest of the night, if not the week, but the friends only wanted to go back to The Mistress.
The large form of the Mistress could be seen and Bane yelled. “My ship!” And rushed off shouting gleefully for his spacecraft. Aayla and Tivia laughed as they followed him. They found the rogue Jedi hugging one of the landing legs happily when they reached the ship. He turned around and hugged Aayla.
“I want to show you my cabin.”
Tivia chortled suddenly. “Bane! You will never believe who we worked for to find you!”
Hadda laughed as well. “Just wait till you hear this.” He scratched his unshaven chin. “Honestly I don't know how we aren't dead. I think it was all thanks to your Aayla that we even made it out.
Bane looked at Aayla. “Why are the Hyenas laughing?”
Aayla shrugged. “We went to Jabba the Hutt.” His eyes widened and the laughter of Tivia and Hadda rang out loudly. He took a drunken step backward and his hands gripped the sides of his head as he asked in terrified disbelief. The look on his face only caused her to laugh and Tivia and Hadda to nearly fall to the ground crying.
“You talked to WHO!?”
