The GEARs of Love
Disclaimer: I don't own the series but I do own Alex… and soon Gear shall be MINE! MUAHAHAH-Cough …. I'm working on it…

THIS STORY HAS BEEN MOVED FROM MY OTHER ACCOUNT!!!
My other account is “XephonGodess” …I had no success with that account and I really enjoy this fic so I moved it!! :)
Rated M for: Some Language, Violence, and Mature Content later on
Let it be known: This is a Static Shock Fan Fiction without Yaoi.
I'd just like to say that I know that this is a Very VERY cheesy name but it's the best I could think of at the moment… This fic is dedicated to my favorite character! (Guess who?) And no it's not Static… I like Static but hey…
TAKES PLACE THREE YEARS AND A FEW MONTHS AFTER “Power Outrage” Forgive me if it starts slow and a little serious… I plan to put in more humor and action later but there will definitely be romance!! Static is beginning to live up to what the justice league know about (his older version)… and Gear, well, ever since Virgil warned him about the fatty foods he's been working out! Not to mention they've both become a lot more mature but they still crack jokes and make fun of their enemies

This is a rough colored drawing of my version of the adult Gear... I did not make the costume up; it's the new one from the episode "Future Shock" that crosses over with Batman Beyond -

Chapter One: Alexandra
----------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------
A shadow his itself as it surveyed the dangers below the skyline it crouched on. The moon light glittered over the visor that the figure had on the mask that covered the face.
“Come on Ripper! Get the shit and lets go already!” A thug called another as they raided a jewelry story.
“I'm coming already! Man good thing we jacked up the security system! Static and his side kick aren't here!” The other said happily, suddenly a woosh was heard and the thugs whirled around in alarm to see a silhouette of a figure in the shadows.
“But I am!” The figure said and rushed out of the shadows. The thugs gasped in surprise but had no time to study their attacker as they fell into to the ground.
“You little-Come here I'm gunna rip you apart!” Cried the one called ripper and withdrew a knife from his belt signaling the other to do the same. Together they charged their attacker. The figure dodged their blows and landed a heavy blow to the back of ripper's head, forcing him to submit to unconsciousness. The remaining thug took the opportunity of the figure's crouched position to strike his knife it its direction. The figure was able to sense the attack and move out of the way but not before being grazed on the left arm. It yelped and jumped back. The thug swung and ran forward; the figure used the thug's angry and wreck-less mood to befall him as easily as his friend.
The figure rose from its position between the thugs and observed the area. It brought its palm up and moments later a reddish light flowed through the figure's hand and guided the jewels back into their holding cases. After that task was done it used the energy to fuse the shattered glass back together and bring the glass back to the store.
“Good as new” The figure said and used the power that radiated within it to haul the thugs inconspicuously into the local prison. The figure winced with the pain in its arm and decided to fix it as soon as the trip home was secured.

Alexandra McCoy yawned and stretched her arms over her head as she rose from bed. She took a quick shower, dressed and headed down the stairs to greet her mother. Her father would not be awake until three hours later to work.
“Good morning sweetie! You got back from the library late last night right?” Her mom asked and a concerned look. Alexandra gave her a sheepish look,
“Sorry mom… I was studying for my entrance exam for school…” she said and scoffed. Her mom gave her a guilty look.
“I'm sorry we had to move ok? It'll all work out, I promise… I'm sure you'll make lots of friends!” Mrs. McCoy tried to soothe. Alex shrugged,
“I guess…” she muttered. She turned on the kitchen TV and dug into her cereal as the news went on.
“Oh what good news!” Her mom said, Alex looked up and caught the last bit of what the news anchor said.
“The authorities have not been able to retrieve the mysterious identity of who placed the thugs known as Jugger and Ripper into the local prison. More on that at ten…”
Alex stopped listening; she hid the smile from her lips and grabbed her bag as her watch whined with its alarm, signaling it was time for her to head off to her new school. “I'm off mom!” she called over her shoulder.
“Okay! Have fun! Don't sleep in class!!!' Her mom yelled back as the door shut.

The sound of the bell rang through the halls signaling the start of a new school day. Virgil Hawkins sat with his partner in crime, or rather is justice, Richard Foley, or Richie, in their first period Algebra 2 class, “Man that last fight was whack!” Virgil complained rubbing the back of his sore neck, Richie twirled a pencil in his hand and smirked, nodded in agreement.
“Yeah, I had no idea that gas would leak out of the ship last year… if that's what happened. I wonder what took the new bang babies to show up and cause mayhem?” he asked rubbing a small healing scar on his chin from the recent battles, Virgil shrugged
“At least we still have our powers… But what was weird was how those robbers got jailed… we didn't do it so who did it?” Virgil asked, lost in his own thoughts, he gave up trying to figure it out for now.
“Probably a Gear wannabe!” Richie said with a smug grin. Virgil gave him a look and snickered.
“Dream on dude, he's probably a Static admirer that wants to follow in his steps!! Huh, that reminds me, did you manage to fix your jet blades from the fight?” Virgil asked but at that same moment he was asking a girl walked into the class, their teacher Mrs. Barns stood and ushered her to the front,
“Class, I'd like you to meet Alexandra McCoy, she's a transfer from another school. Have a seat next to Richard over there if you don't mind dear.” She said signaling the empty seat next to Richie who was stunned; Virgil was still trying to get Riche's attention,
“Rich? Richie! What's wrong with you man?” Virgil asked waving his hand in front of his best friend's face; Richie had his eyes on the girl the second she walked in; he couldn't explain the sudden feelings that over-powered his mind that very moment and he couldn't tear his gaze away, “Richie! Come on!” Virgil nearly yelled, grabbing Richie's shoulder and shaking it. It seemed to help, Richie jerked his attention from the girl that was now taking her seat next to him and finding his pencil very intriguing,
“Wha-What? Sorry, what was that V-Man?” He asked finally looking at Virgil, who looked at him concerned,
“You okay Rich?” he asks slowly, Richie smiled nervously and nodded,
“Sure! Never better!” He answered before nearly ripping his algebra 2 book open and shoving his nose in it, Virgil blinked in confusion,
“Geez I knew you liked this type of stuff but I didn't know that… well no, I guess it is normal for you to be so into mathematical stuff…” Virgil muttered. Richie hadn't heard a word Virgil said, his eyes were trained on the book and was only distracted by a light tap on the shoulder… he knew Virgil would never tap that lightly and his taps were usually super-static charged so it could only mean one thing… he slowly turned to look at the girl, her hair was covering her eyes and her eyes themselves were averted, either something else caught her attention or she didn't want to look at him, which his slight self-consciousness around girls was telling him. He decided to shove those thoughts out of his mind and clear his throat, attempting to sound smooth… it didn't work,
“Yes? Can I help you?” he said a little unevenly, his voice cracking slightly and cursed at himself for not keeping his nerves in check. He could fight an army of mutants, defeat super-viruses from taking over the world, solve near impossible mathematical equations in under five seconds but when it came to being in the presence of a pretty girl he lost his nerve… He tried to clear his throat again to recompose himself, which apparently snapped her out of wherever her mind was,
“I-Um” she cleared her own throat, “I was wondering if you had a pencil I could borrow?” she asked in a soft, polite voice. In Richie's mind he was telling himself that she sounded like that because she didn't want to be heard speaking to him, a geek! What he didn't know was it was because of the complete opposite. Alex sat there with her head turned slightly, her hair covering half her face, trying to keep her blush at bay.
`He's… really cute!' she thought as she asked for the pencil, `Great! Great going Alex, your chance at talking to the, till now, cutest guy you've seen in school and that's the only thing you can say?! UGH! Sometimes I hate me… hmm well actually I haven't seen many guys yet, I rushed to this class.. who knows'
“Um… sure…” Richie said, digging into his bag and pulling out a mechanical pencil, he handed it to her and she reached for it, she accidentally laid her hand on his and both inwardly gasped as an electric shock surged through them, and Static wasn't even near her so how could it have come from her too? She took the pencil from him as if it were on fire; he of course thought it was because she didn't want anything to do with him, which were her thoughts as well when he turned to stare at the head of the class, deliberately ignoring her…
“Thank you…” she mumbled. Virgil saw this exchange with great interest; he smirked at his best friend and nudged him,
“She's pretty isn't she?” he teased and almost saw fangs pop out of Richie's silent snarl,
“Shut up…” he said in a harsh whisper which only got Virgil more amused and chuckled at his reaction. The day seemed to drag on, when the last class was finally over there seemed to be a collective sigh of relief all around the school as the students grabbed their books bags and headed to their lockers or cars. “No way V! Your dad actually let you borrow the car? That's incredible! Someone call the press!” Richie mocked, swinging his arms around in mock exasperation. Unfortunately he didn't see where he was going in the halls and bumped into someone.
“Ooff… huh? Oh geez, I'm sorry I-” his sentence stopped short when he realized who he was helping gather books; it was the same girl that sat next to him that morning. He gazed at her with a gawky expression. Alex blushed and hurriedly grabbed her books, accidentally knocking another book she had out of her arms but was too in a rush to escape from self-embarrassment to notice. Richie snapped out of it and saw the book; he picked it up and raised it above his head, “Wait! You forgot your-… book…” he sighed and looked at the worn leather cover book in his hand, with neatly stitched gold thread words on the front, it said “Diary”, he blushed and stuffed the small book in his pockets before Virgil could see it.
“Rich? You okay man?” Virgil asked helping his friend up,
“Yeah… I'm fine…” Richie answered, his eyes lingering on where Alex had just walked before turning to his concerned looking friend and putting on a smile, “Bro! Really, I'm fine. Let's go!” he said dragging his friend out of the school.
To Be Continued…
