It was a windy summer day in Gotham city and the Titans Tower was looming over its city. Even in the normality of the day, something was different. For at the base of the tower, a figure in a red shirt and dark tan pants, ending in two large black boots. The figures grey trench coat billowed in the breeze as he walked to the doorway of Titan's Tower.

 

Meanwhile in Titan's Tower, the Titans were busied in their morning tasks. Beast Boy and Cyborg were playing video games, Raven was sitting on the couch next to them reading her book, and Robin was walking across the floor reading the latest crime report. Too engrossed in his report, Robin did not notice Starfire floating right toward him. The both of them bumped into each other and fell onto the floor. “Oh, Star! I, I didn't see you. Are you okay?” Robin turned over on the floor to see Starfire staring back at him. Her emerald eyes glistened in the sunlight. She merely giggled at his apology. “It is alright, Robin. I am fine.” The two stared at each other for a long moment before breaking away from their trance. Robin got up and offered his hand in assistance. Starfire took his hand and allowed herself to be pulled up. “Thank you, Robin.” Robin and Starfire both blushed. “Listen, Star, there's something I wanted to ask you.” Starfire looked innocently at Robin. “What, friend Robin?” before Robin could reply, the doorbell rang. This was a true oddity at Titans Tower seeing as how most people who visited busted through walls. Raven looked up from her book. “Who would actually use our doorbell?” “I dunno,” answered Robin. “But I'll go check.” With that, Robin headed down the stairs to the front door. As Robin was about to open the door, it opened by itself. Hidden by a dense sheet of smoke, a figure stood at the doorway. Robin took a cautionary step back. “Titans, get down here!” in seconds, the titans were readied at the door, waiting to strike. “Yo!” Cyborg Called to the figure. “I don't know who you think you are, but if you think you can take us in our own tower, you've got another thing coming!” the figure laughed. “Now why would I want to do that?” the figure stepped forward to reveal himself. It was a teenage boy with brown hair and fiery eyes dressed in the red shirt, dark tan pants, black boots and worn grey trench coat. Beast Boy looked at the boy in confusion. “Okay, dude, who ARE you?” the boy chuckled again. “Oh yeah, the name's Merrick.” Raven looked at the newcomer skeptically. “Alright Merrick, mind telling us why you're here?” Merrick instantly turned more business-like. “I'm here to try out for your team.” The Titans looked at the teenager in his tattered clothes and couldn't help but laugh to themselves. “Dude, you need powers to be a Teen Titan.” Teased Beast Boy. Merrick looked at him with exasperated eyes. “Okay first off, boy wonder over there doesn't have any powers, and he's your leader.” Robin grumbled at this remark. “Besides I DO have powers. Beast Boy looked surprised. “Really? What are they?” Merrick held out his hand fingers facing the floor in front of Beast Boy. From his thumb shot little pebbles, from his pointer finger shot fire, from his middle finger shot electric shots, from his ring finger shot a jet of water and from his pinky shot a gust of wind. Beast Boy jumped away from the floor. “Whoa!” Merrick held up his hands. “I'm and Elemental Sorcerer.” Raven's head poked up from the back of the room. “Did you say sorcerer?” Merrick already knew what she was going to ask. “Sure, I'll teach you some spells.” Seeming satisfied, Raven floated back down to the floor. Starfire flew over and hugged Merrick. “Welcome to our home, new friend!” Robin smiled. “Alright, lets take you to the training course and see what you can do.” The Titans headed outside to the training course with their new friend.
