Teen Titans Fan Fiction ❯ Normal Like You ❯ Little and Largely Known Facts ( Chapter 5 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
K, this chapter's kinda Kori-oriented, but it's all important to the plot (I think.)
I've figured out why Raven never eats: Robin is the only one who eats anything normal, and he never eats either, so we can't be sure on that.
Normal Like You
Chapter 5: Little and Largely Known Facts
It was a little-known fact (to the teenage population of Jump City, that is) that Kori Anders, their newest peer, had a huge, gigantic, the-only-reason-I'm-not-stalking-him-is-because-I'm-shy (though many a shy girl has followed a cute boy home only to duck into the neighbor's yard the moment he turned around) crush on the one and only Dick Grayson (a subject to be discussed in due time.)
It was a well known fact to the entire city (and possibly the state) that Kitten (yet another subject to cover) had a humongously public crush on this same boy.
Kitten (no last name to be revealed, for even the teachers dare not speak it) was possible the most obnoxious, spoiled, and loudest girl to enter the West Coast. Her father, a genetic scientist, was wrapped more tightly than her boyfriend, the infamous Fan ( a nickname chose by his punk friends.) But everyone knew Kitten wanted Dick, and no one was stupid enough to stand in her way.
Now, Kori was hardly stupid. She was intelligent and passionate. Unfortunately, she was completely naive and gullible, an unfortunate combination. It wasn't that she screamed her love to the skies (something Kitten did often), and she hardly understood how to hook a guy. Kori was just too shy to do any of that. But she did understand the moment the famous (or infamous, dependant on your view) Dick Grayson helped her (a different story to cover soon), she had a slap-in-the-face realization. What that realization was is something to be considered.
For the moment, it's best to explain who Dick Grayson was.
Dick Grayson (Richard, but you won't survive high school calling him that) was one of the most important (or popular, another varying view point) boy at Jump High. He was known in every crowd- from the spoiled rich kids, such as Kitten, to the lowest of subcultures. He was suave, cool, and drop-dead gorgeous. Perhaps a bit too much gel, but that seemed a common trend among male teens. Nearly every girl wanted him, but he was a far step away from Roy. He rarely dated (besides the blackmail-influenced dates Kitten forced him through) and had parties at his house (a giant mansion) nearly every other week.
As to how he and Kori met, it's a fairly normal boy-meets-girl story. Kori, being the new girl, was completely lost, looking ready to cry. After a ten minute search through the maze-like hallways, she collapsed against a locker. What she had not realized was the locker she had chosen to lean against was wide open. She squealed as she dropped farther than she expected. The owner of the locker had looked up in shock and rushed to the fallen girl. He helped her stand. It was at this moment God looked the other way and Kori slipped on the backpack the boy had dropped. This time, she fell forward, pushing the boy into his locker.
It's fairly obvious this boy was Dick Grayson. Kori repeated apologies (in her own language, so that poor Richard had no idea what she was saying and wrote it off as a concussion) and pulled him up (with incredible strength, Dick surprisingly thought.) That's when she saw his eyes, which brought upon her mind-blowing epiphany.
`He has such intense eyes.'
Before she could comment, he snatched his sunglasses up and placed them carefully in front of his eyes.
“I'm sorry,” she whispered, still struck down by his eyes.
Dick managed a chuckle. “No big deal. You new?”
“Er…yes…”
Which of course prompted the usual responses. By the time she next met up with her new friends, she was very conflicted.
“Hello, friend Raven,” she said.
“Hey, Kori,” Raven answered.
“What are you doing?”
“Deciding whether to burn Roy or castrate him.”
“…”
“I'll explain later. What do you want?”
“I was wondering if we could talk… perhaps…”
Raven sighed. “Yeah, why not? I don't suppose you've made any other friends…” She put up a hand. “Never mind. I'm heading to the library. We can talk as we walk.”
Kori let out a relieved breath and hurried to catch up with Raven. They walked in silence for a full minute.
“Kori, didn't you want to…” she saw her cringe, “…talk?”
She jumped. “Oh, yes, I just… I'm not sure how to say it.” She pushed her forefingers together.
“Please just spit it out.”
“I believe I am `crushing' on a boy-”
“Before you go on, I can tell you now, I know as much about boys as I did when I was ten.”
“I just thought you might know what I must do.”
“Fine. Tell me who this guy is so I can tell you to dump him or not.”
Kori often found it hard to tell when her new friend was joking or not (poor thing was sarcasm-impaired.) “I believe he told me his name was Dick.”
“Dick Grayson?” Her voice came out as a short chuckle. “The guy Kitten obsesses over?”
“…I do not…”
“Never mind. Listen, I know absolutely nothing on this subject.”
Raven stopped. They had reached the library, a gothic-looking building that stood out in the glass-and-steel city. It was an old building, probably to feared to be torn down.
Kori snapped from her daze as Raven cleared her throat. Somehow, she had climbed halfway up the stairs without Kori's noticing and seemed expectant for her to follow.
`What's the worse that could happen?'
Author Time:
I'd like to point out that, though this story is half as long as my Crescent Moon one, it has ten more reviews. I guess I attract a bigger audience in Teen Titans than I do in my favorite manga.
Next chapter: Jinx and Kori meet. Boom!
Reviews!!!! (Wheee!)
TerraTitan27- I have a new fan!!! I'm glad it seems so real. I like stories that are more realistic than totally even-though-this-is-impossible-it-happened (though those are fun too.)
RavenFlyingSolo- Well, I think I crossed out Jinx/Cy (though there shall be some mention of that), but a tiny bit of Cy/Bee never hurt anyone. Cy never gets enough love. He deserves two ladies.
dark-demon2156- ^__^ I know, I'm awesome.
Bunnysquirrel- …Damn, you're well-equipped. I only have pink fluffy bunnies and the ability to annoy you relentlessly. I'm glad it's amusing. It might get a tiny bit more serious in future chapters. A quick note on your name: love it. Squirrels are awesome, and every time I hear the word bunny, I think “Come to me my fluffy minions!” I need to stop reading webcomics. They warp my brain.

BlackBloodyTears- I update. Now review!
Jackalobe- Hm… Larry… I would love to introduce him… I've been trying to get Slade in here, but I don't think that'll work out. I always love Beast Boy. He's only second to Raven.
Mad Mauser- …No, I'm pretty sure Trigon is evil in this story. Maybe a result of a deeper problem, but I'm not gonna go into that here. He is definitely NOT a molester (mostly because I can only take one depressing thing at a time for the moment.) I've decided not to make Robin an asshole. But he might be a tiny bit self-centered. Just enough to annoy some people. It's Speedy that I'm gonna focus on now (and then Trigon can get his.)
animeobsessed3191- Yeah, definitely bi. But Speedy/Aqualad is adorable! How can you not like it? And I'm a very original person. Most people think I'm weird, but I think they're insane, so they've got nothing to worry about.
