Teen Titans Fan Fiction ❯ Normal Like You ❯ Sickeningly Sweet ( Chapter 11 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

I was rereading the last chapter and noticed many mistakes. I apologize for this. I'll try harder.
Sorry I haven't updated in forever. My brain is not working for this story or any of the ones I started in eight grade or over the summer.
Normal Like You
Chapter 11: Sickeningly Sweet
Dick joined them at the table. It was like a string of bombs going off.
Boom! Most popular boy sits with pretty new girl and her freak friends.
Boom! Kitten plots revenge.
Boom! Somehow Raven is blamed.
And to top it off, Gar was acting very strangely.
Raven had first noticed it when he wouldn't look at her. At least not in the eyes. He kind of stared past her. And fidgeted. He seemed really jumpy around her.
Gar wasn't the only thing bugging her.
It was unanimous that Dick and Kori made them want to puke. They were so goddamn lovey-dovey that Raven seriously considered putting a fork through her eye and twisting it back and forth.
Jinx agreed.
“When do you ever see them together?” Raven asked.
“I got to class,” the goth answered defensively, “Just not often.”
“I always wondered about that,” Raven suddenly remembered something Gar had said. “Hey, have you ever dated Vic Stone?”
Jinx started, raising an eyebrow, and placing a slender hand beneath her chin. “Yeah… For like a week. How'd you know?”
Raven smiled. “You're not the only one with sources.”
Jinx stuck out her tongue and rolled upside down on the chair. “I heard you had fun with Roy on Saturday.”
“What else have you heard?”
“Well, practically everyone saw who I suppose to be your `Gar' friend punch Roy out. Hence about fifty percent think that you two are secretly dating for some reason and will elope by the end of the school year. I think there's a bet going. About thirty percent think you are dating and that's why he punched Roy out, and twenty percent think he likes you more than he should and now you're going out.”
“How long will the teenage population be watching our every move?”
“You either have to do a fake break up or make out with other people.”
“Doing neither.”
Jinx scoffed and tumbled off the chair. “Do you have anyone I can hook you up with?”
“No.”
“So I guess you won't go to anymore parties.”
“Not even if I was bribed.”

Raven's head was down on her desk. The lights in her classroom were off and the overhead was on, projecting notes she was supposed to be taking down. Of course she wasn't, but neither were Kori or Gar, who were too busy trying to figure out why she was sleeping.
“Maybe I'm tired,” she murmured as Gar poked her.
“Duh,” he said, “But why?”
She buried herself deeper into her sweater. “Maybe I'm having trouble sleeping.”
Kori frowned. “Why?”
Because her father was being a jackass at all hours of the night. Because she was officially afraid to go to sleep in fear of what her father would do to her. Because she spent all hours of the night walking around so she wouldn't have to deal with her father inside the house.
Raven shrugged.
The bell rang before more questions could be asked. Raven scooped up her books and hurried from the room, giving Gar and Kori little time to follow.
“You're not feeling well?” Kori asked as she caught up with the fleeing goth.
Raven stifled a groan. She wasn't feeling well. “I'm fine.”
“You don't look fine,” Gar said.
“I'm fine. I'm going to class. This way.” She turned into a hallway and disappeared into the crowd.
Raven woke up the next morning feeling worse. She pressed a hand ot her forehead and groaned.
`This cannot be happening.'
She was burning up. She felt too sick to move. With a stiff jerk she pulled off her covers and trudged to the door, listening carefully.
Not a sound.
It was unnerving.
There was no way she was staying home that day.
It only took three minutes longer than it normally did to leave.
School through the day was torture. Just looking at her meager lunch made her want to hurl. Not to mention sitting through seven hours of classes.
Ah, but Raven's day was far from over.
As always, Gar was to blame.
He and Vic had gotten their hands on a copy of Wicked Scary and couldn't wait to watch it. Normally, they would wait until they could watch it into the wee hours of the night, but according to them, it was too good to wait for. Kori was too anxious not to miss it, so Dick came along to do what guys normally did with girls during horror movies.
So, of course, Raven was forced along.
If at full strength and health, Raven wouldn't been quick to say no, but currently she was too sick to do much but sit and pretend to pay attention, so there was little trouble in getting her to come.
There was much preparation involved for movies, Raven soon realized. Popcorn and sodas and all sorts of tooth-rotting sweets had to be set out. Blinds were closed to keep the last bits of sunlight from entering the room. A larg array of stuffed things were set out to keep them comfortable.
And so the movie began.
The opening seemed right. Five teens isolated in the middle of nowhere. Creepy foreshadowing, a weird video, the usual.
After a few romantic subplots and a lot of hormones raging, the monster showed up and-of course- began hunting them off one by one.
Raven had the special privilege of sitting next to Gar and got much commentary on it. When he finally shut up, he was holding the blanket she had draped over herself over his head like a hood.
The scariest part of the movie was coming, as all the signs pointed to it. Only the male and the female were left, and once again hormones raged (it seemed dangerous situations made people horny.)
Raven was not feeling so hot. She clutched her stomach and her forehead and leaned back against the couch. It was taking all her energy not to groan or be sick in any way.
And her energy was running out.
The monster reached forward to attack the girl in its usual stalker-like manner.
Raven's eyes closed just as the TV screamed.
Author(ess) Notes:
Well we can see my attraction to letting Raven pass out when Gar is nearby.
My allusion to Fear Itself. Except instead of making a haunted house, she gets sick and passes out.
Maybe she just swoons at the sight of our favorite little shapeshifter.
So, sorry for the long wait. You'll forgive me with this awesome chapter. Plus my favorite part's coming up. Yay!
Review please. I like it when you review.
