Episode 5: Tour Guide

Faculty Inservice, No School
-Alarm clock beeps.
Kiyobi: "mmmm.. that time already?"
-Kiyobi gets up and turns off alarm.
We have no school today! And I'm always revvin' on a no-school day.
-Kiyobi gets off the bed. The moment he hit the ground, something squeaked.
Kiyobi (sweatdrop): "Uh oh..."
That squeaky toy only meant one thing: My sister's back.
-View shows Kiyobi's sister sleeping right beside his bed in a sleeping bag.
But aside from that, where's Hawk and Xyrho?
-Room shows nobody but Kiyobi and his sleeping sister. Kiyobi carefully leaves the room, without making audible footsteps.
Ms. Kawazaki: "Good morning, Kiyobi!"
Kiyobi: "Morning, mom."
Ms. Kawazaki: "Did you sleep well last night?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah. By the way, why is Keiko sleeping in my room?"
I guess I forgot to tell you about my sister, too. Her name's Keiko, and she's 12 years old. She's a real annoying sister though, she always looks at what your doing. It's menacing when you know she's watching you.
Ms. Kawazaki: "Oh, I forgot to tell you then, didn't I? Keiko got back from her workshop early this morning."
Kiyobi: "Oh yeah... that thing..."
Last Thursday, Keiko left to Osaka to take some sort of animation workshop class. She got to stay in the local high school for a week as she learned all this stuff. Hmm... I wonder if she can make me into an anime character... that would be awesome!
Ms. Kawazaki: "Xyrho and Hawk went to visit the new neighbors."
Kiyobi: "Oh, ok."
Ms. Kawazaki: "I think they're having breakfast over there."
Kiyobi: "I'm going then."
Ms. Kawazaki: "All right, take care. Make sure to look both ways before crossing the street! Don't forget to call!"
Kiyobi: "Okay, mom. Bye!"
It's only a five second walk to their house. It's only across the street, what's the worst that could happen?!
-Kiyobi leaves the house, and he notices a traffic jam in the middle of the street.
Kiyobi: "G-reat. How ironic."
-Kiyobi weaves in between the cars and makes it to the neighbors' home.
Kiyobi: "This is the place."
-Kiyobi knocks.
Ruri: "Be right there!"
-Ruri opens the door.
Ruri: "Oh, it's you! Come on in!"
-Kiyobi enters.
Rumina: "And so he says, 'Peas?! I thought you meant cheese!'"
-Laughter is heard from the living room.
Rumina: "Hey! 'Sup, Kiyobi?"
Xyrho: "Morning, sleepyhead!"
Kiyobi: "How long have you guys been here?"
Xyrho: "Oh, like..." *checks clock (8:40)* "Two hours."
Kiyobi: "Two hours?!"
Xyrho: "Yeah. By the way, who was that girl sleeping right beside you?"
Rumina: "Girl? Girlfriend? What?"
Kiyobi: "Easy there, she's only 12. She's my sister, Keiko."
Xyrho: "Oh, part of the family. Phew... I was about to smash her with my foot."
Kiyobi (sly face): "Oh you better not have."
Chelsea: "Oh, Kiyobi! I didn't see you come in, would you like some breakfast?"
Kiyobi: "Yes, I'd appreciate it, thank you."
Chelsea: "Be right back."
Ruri: "So... what's this city like? I haven't seen much, but Diamond City looks great from what I've seen so far."
Kiyobi: "Well, you probably haven't seen the mall, or the huge park... that's basically it. This city isn't very big compared to Tokyo or others."
Ruri: "I like it here. It's kind of quiet."
Rumina: "I don't know... it suddenly got noisy."
Kiyobi: "That... pile of cars is just plain out of the ordinary here. Just be glad you're not living in the industrial area."
Rumina: "Why is that?"
Kiyobi: "Oh man, if I had a yen every time I heard a horn blare or someone shout, I'd have... like 4500 yen right now. It's NOISY over there."
Rumina: "And people live there?"
Kiyobi: "Well, it can't be helped. When houses go for about half the price of this house... cheap bastards go for it."
Rumina: "I get your point."
Chelsea: "Here, I hope you like it."
-Chelsea gives a plate of pancakes to Kiyobi.
Kiyobi: "Thank you very much, Chelsea."
-Kiyobi starts eating.
Kiyobi: "Oh man, these are good!"
Chelsea: "Glad you like them!" *smiles*
Hawk: "So anyway, we were talking about Diamond High earlier."
Ruri: "It is only about a five minute walk away."
Rumina: "You think you can give us a tour later?"
-Kiyobi, still eating, just gives a thumbs up.
Oh man, these pancakes were delicious. I was speechless! Literally!
Rumina: "Great!"
Ruri: "How about we check out the mall? I'm in the mood to shop right now."
Rumina: "All right!"
Kiyobi: *gulps* "Yeah, the mall's always a choice pick when it comes to hanging out with friends. There's places to shop, of course, there's an arcade, a food court, bookstore, and the super-huge department stores. Sure, the city isn't much, but what's inside is full of stuff!"
Ruri: "I'm so excited to go now!"
-Kiyobi scarfs down another bite.
Xyrho: "So, when do you guys want to go?"
Rumina: "How about after lunch?"
Kiyobi: "mmm hmm."
-Kiyobi gulps.
Kiyobi: "You guys got to try the food there, too. My treat!"
Chelsea: "Plus... we're running out of food to cook with..."
Kiyobi: "What do you guys say?"
Ruri: "Well, since we're going to have lunch there, let's go now!"
Rumina: "Yeah!"
Kiyobi: "Hold up! I'm still eating." *Smiles and sweatdrops*
Chelsea: "Take your time. Don't want you to get indigestion."
Kiyobi: "Yeah." *Takes another bite.*
Hawk: "So, anyway..."
*Time cut: 10 minutes later*
Kiyobi: "Oh man... those were the best pancakes ever."
-Kiyobi takes the plate to the kitchen.
Chelsea: "I'll do it."
Kiyobi: "No, I insist. It's the least I can do for serving us those awesome pancakes!"
Chelsea: "Well... okay..."
-Kiyobi washes his dish and the small stack of other dishes.
Ruri: "All right, then, what are we waiting for?"
Chelsea: "For Kiyobi to finish washing the dishes."
Kiyobi: "Done!"
Chelsea: "That was fast."
Xyrho: "Hold up. What about the other girls?"
Rumina: "Other girls?"
Kiyobi: "Right! Cream, Shamoo, and Aurelli! I got to give them a call."
-Kiyobi returns home and dials Cream's number.
*Ring... ring...*
???: "Hello, Misute residence."
Kiyobi: "Hi. May I speak to Cream, please?"
???: "Just a minute."
...
Cream: "Hello?"
Kiyobi: "Hey, it's Kiyobi."
Cream: "Kiyobi! Ohayoo (Good morning)! I was about to call. Aurelli and Shamoo already called me. We're going to meet at the mall, that all right with you?"
Kiyobi: "Perfect! We have new neighbors and they want to see the mall too."
Cream: "Great! We'll see you there at 10. Bye!"
Kiyobi: "Later!"
*Click*
Perfect! And it's... 9:00.
-Kiyobi returns to Rumina's home.
Rumina: "So, what happened?"
Kiyobi: "Let's get over there!"
Everyone: "All right!"
-Everyone leaves and Rumina locks the door.
Kiyobi: "Mom! I'm taking some friends to the mall!"
Ms. Kawazaki: "Okay! Have fun!"
-Everyone starts following Kiyobi's lead to the mall.
Chelsea: "So, how do we know if we see the mall?"
Kiyobi: "You'll know it when you see it."
*Time cut: 9:45 AM*
Kiyobi: "There it is!"
-Camera points to a huge building at the corner of a street.
*Insert gigantic triumphant fanfare here.*
Ruri: "It's so huge!" Xyrho: "I know!" Chelsea: "This is a mall?!"
Kiyobi: "What are you talking about? That's not the mall, the one beside it is."
*Record scratch*
-Camera points to the rundown looking building right beside it. Everyone has shocked faces except Kiyobi.
*Wind of silence blows*
Chelsea: "...This is a mall?"
Kiyobi: "It may not look like much from the outside, but it's a great place inside!"
-Everyone enters the mall.
*Insert same gigantic triumphant fanfare here.*
Hawk: "You're right! This place looks awesome!"
Kiyobi: "Geez... it's just a mall! Nothing to get all riled up about."
*Fanfare breaks down.*
Kiyobi: "...right?"
Ruri: "Let's go shopping already!"
Kiyobi: "Let's all meet at the food court..." *points towards the food court* "... at lunch. Agreed?"
Everyone: "Got it."
Cream: "Kiyobi!!!"
Kiyobi: "Hey, the girls just arrived!"
-Cream, Shamoo, and Aurelli run up to meet the group.
Cream: "Konnichiwa! So, these are your new friends?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah. Meet... Rumina Asagi..."
Rumina (waves): "Hey."
Kiyobi: "...Ruri Sarasa..."
Ruri (bows in respect): "Nice to meet you."
Kiyobi: "...and Chelsea Rorec."
Chelsea: "Hi."
Cream: "I'm Cream Misute."
Shamoo: "I'm Shamoo Prisune."
Aurelli: "I'm Aurelli Yumeni. Nice to meet you all."
Kiyobi: "Anyway, I was saying we could meet at the food court at lunch. You girls all right with that?"
Shamoo: "Sure!" Cream: "Okay." Aurelli: "Sounds good."
Kiyobi: "All right then. Anyone want to go to the arcade, follow me."
Cream: "Who wants to go shopping? I'll give you the grand tour!"
-Everyone breaks into two main groups, the guys in one, the girls in the other.
Kiyobi: "So we'll meet at lunch."
Cream: "Got it."
-Everyone heads in their directions.
Rumina: "Hold up, before we head to the arcade... let me drop by here real quick."
Xyrho: "...'Kawaii Neko'?"
Rumina: "I just want to give something to Ruri."
-The group makes blank stares at Rumina.
Rumina: "What?! Is there something wrong with getting a girl a gift?!"
Kiyobi: "Nothing."
Man, I hate it when guys laugh at other guys walking into a girly store. It's called getting a gift people. Think about it!
Rumina: "All right the, be right back."
-Rumina enters 'Kawaii Neko'.
Hawk: "Someone's got a crush."
Kiyobi: "So do you."
Hawk: "No I don't!"
*Time cut: 15 minutes*
-Rumina returns to the group with a bag.
Rumina: "All right. Let's go!"
-The group resumes walking.
Kiyobi: "What you got in the bag?"
Rumina: "Nothing much... just a few pins and ribbons."
Hawk: "Good idea, I should get some for Aurelli."
*Time cut*
Kiyobi: "Here we are!"
Xyrho: "Cool."
Rumina: "Oh sweet! They have Time Crisis!"
-Rumina runs inside.
Kiyobi: "Who's up for a round of air hockey?"
Hawk: "Bring it on!"
So we made our way inside, and we passed by the aisle of fighting games when I passed by someone familiar.
???: "Kiyobi! What's up!"
Kiyobi: "Hey, Alan!"
Meet an old friend of mine: Alan Surega. He was one of my first friends when we entered Diamond High freshman year. We also started the "Maple Syrup" club. Ironically, this club has NOTHING to do with maple syrup. We're a gamer club. Who doesn't like friendly, heated competition?
Kiyobi: "Still can't beat the final boss yet?"
Alan: "No way, he's friggin' hard, I can't believe it! Hey, who're these new guys?"
Kiyobi: "They're the new guys I told you about. Xyrho, Hawk, this's Alan. Alan, Xyrho and Hawk."
Alan: "'Sup."
Hawk: "Hey!"
Xyrho: "'Sup!"
Alan: "Oh crap, next level's starting."
-Alan gets back to his game.
Kiyobi: "Up for some 2 on 2 air hockey later, Alan?"
Alan: "Sure, just let me... argh! Damn, lost again."
Game: "CONTINUE?"
-Alan mashes buttons to speed the countdown.
Game: "GAME OVER."
Alan: "All right, let's go!"
-The four head to the next available air hockey table and pop in their share of coins. Kiyobi hits the start button.
Kiyobi: "I'm with Alan."
Xyrho: "Whatever. Me and Hawk'll kick your ass!"
I don't think you'd want to hear me narrate the entire game. Simply put, we won, 7 to 6.
Hawk: "Dammit!"
Kiyobi: "Heh. Good game."
Xyrho: "Yeah, nice shot back there..."
Alan: "Thanks."
Xyrho: "Hey... where's Rumina?"
Alan: "Rumi-wha?"
Xyrho: "Rumina."
Alan: "Mind filling me in, Kiyobi?"
Kiyobi: "He and two others moved in to the house across from us. I think they'll enroll into Diamond High on Monday."
Alan: "Cool. Maybe they can join the club?"
Hawk: "What club?"
Kiyobi: "The Maple Syrup Club. I didn't tell you?"
Hawk & Xyrho: "No."
Xyrho: "But I'll tell you, I can't stand maple syrup."
Kiyobi: "Don't worry, it has nothing to do with syrup. It's a gamer's club!"
Alan: "And we started the club."
Hawk: "Can we join?"
Kiyobi: "Of course!"
Xyrho: "Sweet!"
*Wind of silence blows.*
Oh man... cheesy pun!
Xyrho: "...what?"
Kiyobi: "We should find Rumina. It's..." *checks watch* "...11:40."
Rumina: "Don't need to. I'm right here."
Kiyobi: "WA!!"
-Kiyobi stumbles over.
Kiyobi: "Rumina! Scared me there..."
Rumina: "My bad."
-Rumina helps Kiyobi up.
Kiyobi: "You guys wanna head for lunch right now?"
Xyrho: "Yeah, I'm starved!"
Hawk: "Sure." Alan: "Count me in."
Rumina: "Yeah!"
-The group leaves the arcade heading for the food court.
Rumina: "Maple Syrup club...?"
Kiyobi: "It's the school gamer club."
Rumina: "Cool."
Hawk: "Shut up about that! It's making me hungrier..."
Kiyobi: "Hey, there's the food court."
Xyrho: "I'm so hungry!!! What to choose...."
-Xyrho looks around panicky.
The food court has a nice variety of places to eat. There's Kai's Sushi, Panda Express, Mexican Grill, Pizapai, and even a McDonald's! Myself, I can't stand McDonald's, but it's the most popular place to buy food here. But hey, that means shorter lines for Pizapai and Kai's. ;)
Xyrho: "Oh.... someone help me decide!!!!"
Hawk: "There's a McDonald's?!"
-Hawk falls in line.
Xyrho: "Really?! Wait for me!!!"
-Xyrho follows Hawk.
I don't know why everyone likes McDonald's... I tried their Big Mac, it tasted so nasty I didn't even bother finishing it. Eck. Their McNuggets are tasty, thuogh.
Rumina: "Hmm... Kai's Sushi sounds good."
-Rumina falls in line.
Kai's Sushi is a great place to get some good sushi. They serve a wide variety, from the traditional to the weird, like Spam sushi!
Kiyobi: "I'm going to Pizapai."
Alan: "I'm thinking Mexican Grill..."
-Kiyobi and Alan head to their lines.
Pizapai is the place for pizza here in Diamond. It's so delicious! Especially their BBQ chicken pizza... oh man that's heaven right there.
And Mexican Grill... well... they cook mexican food over there. I never went there, personally...
*Time cut: 10 minutes*
-Everyone already has a seat.
Hawk: "Aww man, Big Mac! I love these!"
-Hawk takes a bite.
Kiyobi: "Dude, how can you actually eat that shit?!"
Hawk (muffled): "Cuse ith chastes ggud.."
Xyrho: "What he said."
-Xyrho takes a bite of his hamburger.
Kiyobi: "Why have that when you can have some pizza?"
-Kiyobi takes a bite.
BBQ chicken pizza... oh man... I'm always speechless when I take a bite of it! I'm not gonna stop saying it! BBQ chicken pizza!!!!
-Rumina fiddles his plate of sushi with his chopsticks.
Rumina: "Hmm... which one first?"
-Rumina picks one randomly and eats it.
Alan: "I always love a good taco!"
-Alan digs in.
Shamoo: "Hey guys!"
Hawk (still muffled): "Ey! Itch deh gurz!"
Kiyobi: "Hawk, you're spitting all over my face!!!"
-Hawk gulps.
Hawk: "Sorry."
Shamoo: "Got room?"
Kiyobi: "Of course."
-The girls scoot a table over right beside the guys' tables.
Rumina: "What did you guys get?"
Aurelli: "Me and Shamoo have some sushi."
Cream: "I got some stir fry with Ruri.
Chelsea: "I just have some spicy curry from the grill over there."
-Everyone starts or continues having lunch.
Cream: "So, you three are planning to join Diamond High?"
Ruri: "That's right."
Kiyobi: "What about Chelsea? She doesn't look like a junior or senior."
Chelsea: "I'm thinking of teaching over there."
Alan: "Really? Sounds cool."
Rumina: "Oh! I got a little something for you, Ruri."
Ruri: "Really?"
-Rumina hands the platic bag over to Ruri.
Rumina: "I know it isn't much, but I hope you like it."
Cream: "What is it?"
Ruri: "Aww.... it's so cute!!! Thanks Rumina!"
-Rumina grins happily.
Aurelli: "What is it?!"
Ruri: "It's a cute lil' kitty hairpin."
-Ruri puts it on.
Rumina: "It looks pretty good on you."
Ruri: "Thanks." ^_^
Aurelli: "Hey, Hawk?"
Hawk: "Yeah?"
Oh no, here we go again.
Aurelli: "Do you-"
Hawk: "YES!!!! OF COURSE!!!!"
Aurelli: "Really? Okay, here."
-Aurelli passes her plate of leftover sushi to Hawk.
Aurelli: "I just can't eat another bite."
-Hawk freezes and turns despair blue with dropped mouth.
Kiyobi: "I thought you didn't like tuna, Aurelli?"
Aurelli: "That doesn't mean I like other fish." *smiles*
-Ruri takes a bit of stir fry.
Ruri: "This is good!"
Cream: "See?"
Ruri: "Thank god I took your word for it!"
*Time cut: 1:25 PM*
Kiyobi: "So, what do you guys want to do now?"
Alan: "I don't know about you, but I gotta go."
Kiyobi: "So soon?!"
Alan: "Yeah... I got some homework to make up."
Xyrho: "Yeck."
Alan: "So, yeah. Later. Nice meeting you all!"
-Everyone says their goodbyes and laters as Alan leaves.
Kiyobi: "You guys and girls wanna hang out at my place? Maybe play some video games?"
Hawk: "Sounds great!"
-Everyone agrees.
Kiyobi: "All right then! ONWARDS! TO DERRIS KHARLAN!"
*record scratch*
Kiyobi: "...what!?"
So we all head back to my place for a nice ol' fashioned get-together. First, everyone got to meet my sister...
Kiyobi: "We're home!"
Keiko: "Kiyobi! Kombanwa!"
Kiyobi: "Hey sis, when'd you wake up?"
Keiko: "Around like 12. Where have you been?"
Kiyobi: "Giving some people a tour."
Rumina: "Who's she?"
Kiyobi: "She's my little sister, Keiko."
Keiko: "Hi!"
Everyone: "Hi!"
...then we all had a smash playing Smash Bros...
Kiyobi: "And there!"
-(On screen) Falco knocks away Donkey Kong with a powerful smash kick.
Kiyobi & Game: "Game set!"
Rumina: "Dammit!"
Kiyobi: "I wasn't kidding when I said I'm undefeated regional Smash champion."
...and got to show off playing DDR with real pads...
-"Dynamite Rave" is playing in the background. Hawk (playing Difficult) and Ruri (playing Expert) are on stage.
Rumina: "Damn! I didn't know Ruri could dance!"
Chelsea: "Neither did I. She's really good!"
Kiyobi: "Hawk isn't that bad either."
-Ruri makes a handplant.
Everyone: "WHOA!!!"
Kiyobi: "You know someone's a pro when they start using hands."
-Song ends.
Kiyobi: "My turn!"
...then had a blast playing some sports...
Kiyobi: "Yah!"
-Kiyobi shoots, camera cuts to backboard, where the ball is seen hitting the rim, rebounding lightly off the backboard, and falls through the hoop. Rumina catches the ball.
Xyrho & Shamoo: "Whoa!!!"
Cream: "That has to be at least half-court!!!"
-Camera then shows the vast distance between Kiyobi and the hoop.
Yeah, I can throw a ball far, but it really kills my arms after only about two or three shots.
Rumina: "Oh man... I feel sorry for you Chelsea."
-Rumina tosses the ball to Chelsea.
Chelsea: "Shit."
...and ended the day with a nice homemade dinner made by my mom.
Ms. Kawazaki: "I hope you all like it!"
Kiyobi: "You guys got to try it. Her dishes are awesome!"
All residents: "Itadakimasu!"
Xyrho: "Say what?"
Kiyobi: "I don't know if any of you are familiar with Japanese culture. 'Itadakimasu' is like saying grace."
Ms. Kawazaki: "That's bascally it."
Xyrho: "Oh. Itadakimasu too!"
-Everyone attempts to say it.
Kiyobi: "We'll work on it."
-Everyone digs in.
Shamoo: "Wow, this food is great! Thank you very much!"
Ms. Kawazaki: "You're very welcome." *Smiles gently*
My mom's the best, isn't she?
Cream: "Look at the time!"
Aurelli: "Cream's right. We should be going."
Cream: "Thank you for letting us stay for the day, Ms. Kawazaki."
-Cream bows in respect. Aurelli and Shamoo follow after.
Ms. Kawazaki: "You're always welcome here."
-Ms. Kawazaki bows in return.
Cream: "Okay, bye everyone!"
Aurelli: "See you Monday!"
Shamoo: "Bye!"
Everyone: "Bye!"
-The three girls leave.
Kiyobi: "What now?"
Chelsea: "I think we should be going too."
Xyrho: "Really?"
Rumina: "We're only across the street, Xyrho."
Xyrho: "Oh, yeah..."
Ruri: "Thanks a lot, Ms. Kawazaki."
-Ruri, Rumina, and Chelsea bow in respect. Ms. Kawazaki bows in return.
Ms. Kawazaki: "You're always welcome here."
Chelsea: "And you're always welcome at our house, too. Why don't you stop in for breakfast sometime?"
Ms. Kawazaki: "Why, I appreciate the invitation. I'll see to it."
Chelsea: "Great!"
Rumina & Ruri: "Bye!"
Everyone: "Bye!"
-The three leave.
Ms. Kawazaki: "Well, today must've been a great day for you, huh?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah."
Hawk: "I'm exhausted."
Xyrho: "It was great! We should do this more often!"
Kiyobi: "Hell yeah."
Ms. Kawazaki: "Could you help me clean up the table first?"
Everyone: "Awww...."
Ms. Kawazaki: "Come on, it's the least you could do...."
-Fade out.

-Room shows nobody but Kiyobi and his sleeping sister. Kiyobi carefully leaves the room, without making audible footsteps.
Ms. Kawazaki: "Good morning, Kiyobi!"
Kiyobi: "Morning, mom."
Ms. Kawazaki: "Did you sleep well last night?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah. By the way, why is Keiko sleeping in my room?"
I guess I forgot to tell you about my sister, too. Her name's Keiko, and she's 12 years old. She's a real annoying sister though, she always looks at what your doing. It's menacing when you know she's watching you.
Ms. Kawazaki: "Oh, I forgot to tell you then, didn't I? Keiko got back from her workshop early this morning."
Kiyobi: "Oh yeah... that thing..."
Last Thursday, Keiko left to Osaka to take some sort of animation workshop class. She got to stay in the local high school for a week as she learned all this stuff. Hmm... I wonder if she can make me into an anime character... that would be awesome!
Ms. Kawazaki: "Xyrho and Hawk went to visit the new neighbors."
Kiyobi: "Oh, ok."
Ms. Kawazaki: "I think they're having breakfast over there."
Kiyobi: "I'm going then."
Ms. Kawazaki: "All right, take care. Make sure to look both ways before crossing the street! Don't forget to call!"
Kiyobi: "Okay, mom. Bye!"
It's only a five second walk to their house. It's only across the street, what's the worst that could happen?!
-Kiyobi leaves the house, and he notices a traffic jam in the middle of the street.
Kiyobi: "G-reat. How ironic."
-Kiyobi weaves in between the cars and makes it to the neighbors' home.
Kiyobi: "This is the place."
-Kiyobi knocks.
Ruri: "Be right there!"
-Ruri opens the door.
Ruri: "Oh, it's you! Come on in!"
-Kiyobi enters.
Rumina: "And so he says, 'Peas?! I thought you meant cheese!'"
-Laughter is heard from the living room.
Rumina: "Hey! 'Sup, Kiyobi?"
Xyrho: "Morning, sleepyhead!"
Kiyobi: "How long have you guys been here?"
Xyrho: "Oh, like..." *checks clock (8:40)* "Two hours."
Kiyobi: "Two hours?!"
Xyrho: "Yeah. By the way, who was that girl sleeping right beside you?"
Rumina: "Girl? Girlfriend? What?"
Kiyobi: "Easy there, she's only 12. She's my sister, Keiko."
Xyrho: "Oh, part of the family. Phew... I was about to smash her with my foot."
Kiyobi (sly face): "Oh you better not have."
Chelsea: "Oh, Kiyobi! I didn't see you come in, would you like some breakfast?"
Kiyobi: "Yes, I'd appreciate it, thank you."
Chelsea: "Be right back."
Ruri: "So... what's this city like? I haven't seen much, but Diamond City looks great from what I've seen so far."
Kiyobi: "Well, you probably haven't seen the mall, or the huge park... that's basically it. This city isn't very big compared to Tokyo or others."
Ruri: "I like it here. It's kind of quiet."
Rumina: "I don't know... it suddenly got noisy."
Kiyobi: "That... pile of cars is just plain out of the ordinary here. Just be glad you're not living in the industrial area."
Rumina: "Why is that?"
Kiyobi: "Oh man, if I had a yen every time I heard a horn blare or someone shout, I'd have... like 4500 yen right now. It's NOISY over there."
Rumina: "And people live there?"
Kiyobi: "Well, it can't be helped. When houses go for about half the price of this house... cheap bastards go for it."
Rumina: "I get your point."
Chelsea: "Here, I hope you like it."
-Chelsea gives a plate of pancakes to Kiyobi.
Kiyobi: "Thank you very much, Chelsea."
-Kiyobi starts eating.
Kiyobi: "Oh man, these are good!"
Chelsea: "Glad you like them!" *smiles*
Hawk: "So anyway, we were talking about Diamond High earlier."
Ruri: "It is only about a five minute walk away."
Rumina: "You think you can give us a tour later?"
-Kiyobi, still eating, just gives a thumbs up.
Oh man, these pancakes were delicious. I was speechless! Literally!
Rumina: "Great!"
Ruri: "How about we check out the mall? I'm in the mood to shop right now."
Rumina: "All right!"
Kiyobi: *gulps* "Yeah, the mall's always a choice pick when it comes to hanging out with friends. There's places to shop, of course, there's an arcade, a food court, bookstore, and the super-huge department stores. Sure, the city isn't much, but what's inside is full of stuff!"
Ruri: "I'm so excited to go now!"
-Kiyobi scarfs down another bite.
Xyrho: "So, when do you guys want to go?"
Rumina: "How about after lunch?"
Kiyobi: "mmm hmm."
-Kiyobi gulps.
Kiyobi: "You guys got to try the food there, too. My treat!"
Chelsea: "Plus... we're running out of food to cook with..."
Kiyobi: "What do you guys say?"
Ruri: "Well, since we're going to have lunch there, let's go now!"
Rumina: "Yeah!"
Kiyobi: "Hold up! I'm still eating." *Smiles and sweatdrops*
Chelsea: "Take your time. Don't want you to get indigestion."
Kiyobi: "Yeah." *Takes another bite.*
Hawk: "So, anyway..."
*Time cut: 10 minutes later*
Kiyobi: "Oh man... those were the best pancakes ever."
-Kiyobi takes the plate to the kitchen.
Chelsea: "I'll do it."
Kiyobi: "No, I insist. It's the least I can do for serving us those awesome pancakes!"
Chelsea: "Well... okay..."
-Kiyobi washes his dish and the small stack of other dishes.
Ruri: "All right, then, what are we waiting for?"
Chelsea: "For Kiyobi to finish washing the dishes."
Kiyobi: "Done!"
Chelsea: "That was fast."
Xyrho: "Hold up. What about the other girls?"
Rumina: "Other girls?"
Kiyobi: "Right! Cream, Shamoo, and Aurelli! I got to give them a call."
-Kiyobi returns home and dials Cream's number.
*Ring... ring...*
???: "Hello, Misute residence."
Kiyobi: "Hi. May I speak to Cream, please?"
???: "Just a minute."
...
Cream: "Hello?"
Kiyobi: "Hey, it's Kiyobi."
Cream: "Kiyobi! Ohayoo (Good morning)! I was about to call. Aurelli and Shamoo already called me. We're going to meet at the mall, that all right with you?"
Kiyobi: "Perfect! We have new neighbors and they want to see the mall too."
Cream: "Great! We'll see you there at 10. Bye!"
Kiyobi: "Later!"
*Click*
Perfect! And it's... 9:00.
-Kiyobi returns to Rumina's home.
Rumina: "So, what happened?"
Kiyobi: "Let's get over there!"
Everyone: "All right!"
-Everyone leaves and Rumina locks the door.
Kiyobi: "Mom! I'm taking some friends to the mall!"
Ms. Kawazaki: "Okay! Have fun!"
-Everyone starts following Kiyobi's lead to the mall.
Chelsea: "So, how do we know if we see the mall?"
Kiyobi: "You'll know it when you see it."
*Time cut: 9:45 AM*
Kiyobi: "There it is!"
-Camera points to a huge building at the corner of a street.
*Insert gigantic triumphant fanfare here.*
Ruri: "It's so huge!" Xyrho: "I know!" Chelsea: "This is a mall?!"
Kiyobi: "What are you talking about? That's not the mall, the one beside it is."
*Record scratch*
-Camera points to the rundown looking building right beside it. Everyone has shocked faces except Kiyobi.
*Wind of silence blows*
Chelsea: "...This is a mall?"
Kiyobi: "It may not look like much from the outside, but it's a great place inside!"
-Everyone enters the mall.
*Insert same gigantic triumphant fanfare here.*
Hawk: "You're right! This place looks awesome!"
Kiyobi: "Geez... it's just a mall! Nothing to get all riled up about."
*Fanfare breaks down.*
Kiyobi: "...right?"
Ruri: "Let's go shopping already!"
Kiyobi: "Let's all meet at the food court..." *points towards the food court* "... at lunch. Agreed?"
Everyone: "Got it."
Cream: "Kiyobi!!!"
Kiyobi: "Hey, the girls just arrived!"
-Cream, Shamoo, and Aurelli run up to meet the group.
Cream: "Konnichiwa! So, these are your new friends?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah. Meet... Rumina Asagi..."
Rumina (waves): "Hey."
Kiyobi: "...Ruri Sarasa..."
Ruri (bows in respect): "Nice to meet you."
Kiyobi: "...and Chelsea Rorec."
Chelsea: "Hi."
Cream: "I'm Cream Misute."
Shamoo: "I'm Shamoo Prisune."
Aurelli: "I'm Aurelli Yumeni. Nice to meet you all."
Kiyobi: "Anyway, I was saying we could meet at the food court at lunch. You girls all right with that?"
Shamoo: "Sure!" Cream: "Okay." Aurelli: "Sounds good."
Kiyobi: "All right then. Anyone want to go to the arcade, follow me."
Cream: "Who wants to go shopping? I'll give you the grand tour!"
-Everyone breaks into two main groups, the guys in one, the girls in the other.
Kiyobi: "So we'll meet at lunch."
Cream: "Got it."
-Everyone heads in their directions.
Rumina: "Hold up, before we head to the arcade... let me drop by here real quick."
Xyrho: "...'Kawaii Neko'?"
Rumina: "I just want to give something to Ruri."
-The group makes blank stares at Rumina.
Rumina: "What?! Is there something wrong with getting a girl a gift?!"
Kiyobi: "Nothing."
Man, I hate it when guys laugh at other guys walking into a girly store. It's called getting a gift people. Think about it!
Rumina: "All right the, be right back."
-Rumina enters 'Kawaii Neko'.
Hawk: "Someone's got a crush."
Kiyobi: "So do you."
Hawk: "No I don't!"
*Time cut: 15 minutes*
-Rumina returns to the group with a bag.
Rumina: "All right. Let's go!"
-The group resumes walking.
Kiyobi: "What you got in the bag?"
Rumina: "Nothing much... just a few pins and ribbons."
Hawk: "Good idea, I should get some for Aurelli."
*Time cut*
Kiyobi: "Here we are!"
Xyrho: "Cool."
Rumina: "Oh sweet! They have Time Crisis!"
-Rumina runs inside.
Kiyobi: "Who's up for a round of air hockey?"
Hawk: "Bring it on!"
So we made our way inside, and we passed by the aisle of fighting games when I passed by someone familiar.
???: "Kiyobi! What's up!"
Kiyobi: "Hey, Alan!"
Meet an old friend of mine: Alan Surega. He was one of my first friends when we entered Diamond High freshman year. We also started the "Maple Syrup" club. Ironically, this club has NOTHING to do with maple syrup. We're a gamer club. Who doesn't like friendly, heated competition?
Kiyobi: "Still can't beat the final boss yet?"
Alan: "No way, he's friggin' hard, I can't believe it! Hey, who're these new guys?"
Kiyobi: "They're the new guys I told you about. Xyrho, Hawk, this's Alan. Alan, Xyrho and Hawk."
Alan: "'Sup."
Hawk: "Hey!"
Xyrho: "'Sup!"
Alan: "Oh crap, next level's starting."
-Alan gets back to his game.
Kiyobi: "Up for some 2 on 2 air hockey later, Alan?"
Alan: "Sure, just let me... argh! Damn, lost again."
Game: "CONTINUE?"
-Alan mashes buttons to speed the countdown.
Game: "GAME OVER."
Alan: "All right, let's go!"
-The four head to the next available air hockey table and pop in their share of coins. Kiyobi hits the start button.
Kiyobi: "I'm with Alan."
Xyrho: "Whatever. Me and Hawk'll kick your ass!"
I don't think you'd want to hear me narrate the entire game. Simply put, we won, 7 to 6.
Hawk: "Dammit!"
Kiyobi: "Heh. Good game."
Xyrho: "Yeah, nice shot back there..."
Alan: "Thanks."
Xyrho: "Hey... where's Rumina?"
Alan: "Rumi-wha?"
Xyrho: "Rumina."
Alan: "Mind filling me in, Kiyobi?"
Kiyobi: "He and two others moved in to the house across from us. I think they'll enroll into Diamond High on Monday."
Alan: "Cool. Maybe they can join the club?"
Hawk: "What club?"
Kiyobi: "The Maple Syrup Club. I didn't tell you?"
Hawk & Xyrho: "No."
Xyrho: "But I'll tell you, I can't stand maple syrup."
Kiyobi: "Don't worry, it has nothing to do with syrup. It's a gamer's club!"
Alan: "And we started the club."
Hawk: "Can we join?"
Kiyobi: "Of course!"
Xyrho: "Sweet!"
*Wind of silence blows.*
Oh man... cheesy pun!
Xyrho: "...what?"
Kiyobi: "We should find Rumina. It's..." *checks watch* "...11:40."
Rumina: "Don't need to. I'm right here."
Kiyobi: "WA!!"
-Kiyobi stumbles over.
Kiyobi: "Rumina! Scared me there..."
Rumina: "My bad."
-Rumina helps Kiyobi up.
Kiyobi: "You guys wanna head for lunch right now?"
Xyrho: "Yeah, I'm starved!"
Hawk: "Sure." Alan: "Count me in."
Rumina: "Yeah!"
-The group leaves the arcade heading for the food court.
Rumina: "Maple Syrup club...?"
Kiyobi: "It's the school gamer club."
Rumina: "Cool."
Hawk: "Shut up about that! It's making me hungrier..."
Kiyobi: "Hey, there's the food court."
Xyrho: "I'm so hungry!!! What to choose...."
-Xyrho looks around panicky.
The food court has a nice variety of places to eat. There's Kai's Sushi, Panda Express, Mexican Grill, Pizapai, and even a McDonald's! Myself, I can't stand McDonald's, but it's the most popular place to buy food here. But hey, that means shorter lines for Pizapai and Kai's. ;)
Xyrho: "Oh.... someone help me decide!!!!"
Hawk: "There's a McDonald's?!"
-Hawk falls in line.
Xyrho: "Really?! Wait for me!!!"
-Xyrho follows Hawk.
I don't know why everyone likes McDonald's... I tried their Big Mac, it tasted so nasty I didn't even bother finishing it. Eck. Their McNuggets are tasty, thuogh.
Rumina: "Hmm... Kai's Sushi sounds good."
-Rumina falls in line.
Kai's Sushi is a great place to get some good sushi. They serve a wide variety, from the traditional to the weird, like Spam sushi!
Kiyobi: "I'm going to Pizapai."
Alan: "I'm thinking Mexican Grill..."
-Kiyobi and Alan head to their lines.
Pizapai is the place for pizza here in Diamond. It's so delicious! Especially their BBQ chicken pizza... oh man that's heaven right there.
And Mexican Grill... well... they cook mexican food over there. I never went there, personally...
*Time cut: 10 minutes*
-Everyone already has a seat.
Hawk: "Aww man, Big Mac! I love these!"
-Hawk takes a bite.
Kiyobi: "Dude, how can you actually eat that shit?!"
Hawk (muffled): "Cuse ith chastes ggud.."
Xyrho: "What he said."
-Xyrho takes a bite of his hamburger.
Kiyobi: "Why have that when you can have some pizza?"
-Kiyobi takes a bite.
BBQ chicken pizza... oh man... I'm always speechless when I take a bite of it! I'm not gonna stop saying it! BBQ chicken pizza!!!!
-Rumina fiddles his plate of sushi with his chopsticks.
Rumina: "Hmm... which one first?"
-Rumina picks one randomly and eats it.
Alan: "I always love a good taco!"
-Alan digs in.
Shamoo: "Hey guys!"
Hawk (still muffled): "Ey! Itch deh gurz!"
Kiyobi: "Hawk, you're spitting all over my face!!!"
-Hawk gulps.
Hawk: "Sorry."
Shamoo: "Got room?"
Kiyobi: "Of course."
-The girls scoot a table over right beside the guys' tables.
Rumina: "What did you guys get?"
Aurelli: "Me and Shamoo have some sushi."
Cream: "I got some stir fry with Ruri.
Chelsea: "I just have some spicy curry from the grill over there."
-Everyone starts or continues having lunch.
Cream: "So, you three are planning to join Diamond High?"
Ruri: "That's right."
Kiyobi: "What about Chelsea? She doesn't look like a junior or senior."
Chelsea: "I'm thinking of teaching over there."
Alan: "Really? Sounds cool."
Rumina: "Oh! I got a little something for you, Ruri."
Ruri: "Really?"
-Rumina hands the platic bag over to Ruri.
Rumina: "I know it isn't much, but I hope you like it."
Cream: "What is it?"
Ruri: "Aww.... it's so cute!!! Thanks Rumina!"
-Rumina grins happily.
Aurelli: "What is it?!"
Ruri: "It's a cute lil' kitty hairpin."
-Ruri puts it on.
Rumina: "It looks pretty good on you."
Ruri: "Thanks." ^_^
Aurelli: "Hey, Hawk?"
Hawk: "Yeah?"
Oh no, here we go again.
Aurelli: "Do you-"
Hawk: "YES!!!! OF COURSE!!!!"
Aurelli: "Really? Okay, here."
-Aurelli passes her plate of leftover sushi to Hawk.
Aurelli: "I just can't eat another bite."
-Hawk freezes and turns despair blue with dropped mouth.
Kiyobi: "I thought you didn't like tuna, Aurelli?"
Aurelli: "That doesn't mean I like other fish." *smiles*
-Ruri takes a bit of stir fry.
Ruri: "This is good!"
Cream: "See?"
Ruri: "Thank god I took your word for it!"
*Time cut: 1:25 PM*
Kiyobi: "So, what do you guys want to do now?"
Alan: "I don't know about you, but I gotta go."
Kiyobi: "So soon?!"
Alan: "Yeah... I got some homework to make up."
Xyrho: "Yeck."
Alan: "So, yeah. Later. Nice meeting you all!"
-Everyone says their goodbyes and laters as Alan leaves.
Kiyobi: "You guys and girls wanna hang out at my place? Maybe play some video games?"
Hawk: "Sounds great!"
-Everyone agrees.
Kiyobi: "All right then! ONWARDS! TO DERRIS KHARLAN!"
*record scratch*
Kiyobi: "...what!?"
So we all head back to my place for a nice ol' fashioned get-together. First, everyone got to meet my sister...
Kiyobi: "We're home!"
Keiko: "Kiyobi! Kombanwa!"
Kiyobi: "Hey sis, when'd you wake up?"
Keiko: "Around like 12. Where have you been?"
Kiyobi: "Giving some people a tour."
Rumina: "Who's she?"
Kiyobi: "She's my little sister, Keiko."
Keiko: "Hi!"
Everyone: "Hi!"
...then we all had a smash playing Smash Bros...
Kiyobi: "And there!"
-(On screen) Falco knocks away Donkey Kong with a powerful smash kick.
Kiyobi & Game: "Game set!"
Rumina: "Dammit!"
Kiyobi: "I wasn't kidding when I said I'm undefeated regional Smash champion."
...and got to show off playing DDR with real pads...
-"Dynamite Rave" is playing in the background. Hawk (playing Difficult) and Ruri (playing Expert) are on stage.
Rumina: "Damn! I didn't know Ruri could dance!"
Chelsea: "Neither did I. She's really good!"
Kiyobi: "Hawk isn't that bad either."
-Ruri makes a handplant.
Everyone: "WHOA!!!"
Kiyobi: "You know someone's a pro when they start using hands."
-Song ends.
Kiyobi: "My turn!"
...then had a blast playing some sports...
Kiyobi: "Yah!"
-Kiyobi shoots, camera cuts to backboard, where the ball is seen hitting the rim, rebounding lightly off the backboard, and falls through the hoop. Rumina catches the ball.
Xyrho & Shamoo: "Whoa!!!"
Cream: "That has to be at least half-court!!!"
-Camera then shows the vast distance between Kiyobi and the hoop.
Yeah, I can throw a ball far, but it really kills my arms after only about two or three shots.
Rumina: "Oh man... I feel sorry for you Chelsea."
-Rumina tosses the ball to Chelsea.
Chelsea: "Shit."
...and ended the day with a nice homemade dinner made by my mom.
Ms. Kawazaki: "I hope you all like it!"
Kiyobi: "You guys got to try it. Her dishes are awesome!"
All residents: "Itadakimasu!"
Xyrho: "Say what?"
Kiyobi: "I don't know if any of you are familiar with Japanese culture. 'Itadakimasu' is like saying grace."
Ms. Kawazaki: "That's bascally it."
Xyrho: "Oh. Itadakimasu too!"
-Everyone attempts to say it.
Kiyobi: "We'll work on it."
-Everyone digs in.
Shamoo: "Wow, this food is great! Thank you very much!"
Ms. Kawazaki: "You're very welcome." *Smiles gently*
My mom's the best, isn't she?
Cream: "Look at the time!"
Aurelli: "Cream's right. We should be going."
Cream: "Thank you for letting us stay for the day, Ms. Kawazaki."
-Cream bows in respect. Aurelli and Shamoo follow after.
Ms. Kawazaki: "You're always welcome here."
-Ms. Kawazaki bows in return.
Cream: "Okay, bye everyone!"
Aurelli: "See you Monday!"
Shamoo: "Bye!"
Everyone: "Bye!"
-The three girls leave.
Kiyobi: "What now?"
Chelsea: "I think we should be going too."
Xyrho: "Really?"
Rumina: "We're only across the street, Xyrho."
Xyrho: "Oh, yeah..."
Ruri: "Thanks a lot, Ms. Kawazaki."
-Ruri, Rumina, and Chelsea bow in respect. Ms. Kawazaki bows in return.
Ms. Kawazaki: "You're always welcome here."
Chelsea: "And you're always welcome at our house, too. Why don't you stop in for breakfast sometime?"
Ms. Kawazaki: "Why, I appreciate the invitation. I'll see to it."
Chelsea: "Great!"
Rumina & Ruri: "Bye!"
Everyone: "Bye!"
-The three leave.
Ms. Kawazaki: "Well, today must've been a great day for you, huh?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah."
Hawk: "I'm exhausted."
Xyrho: "It was great! We should do this more often!"
Kiyobi: "Hell yeah."
Ms. Kawazaki: "Could you help me clean up the table first?"
Everyone: "Awww...."
Ms. Kawazaki: "Come on, it's the least you could do...."
-Fade out.
