The gates are… open

Darkscream silently moves across the citystreets, staying in the shadows. He looks at the iron gate before him, taking a leap and jump/flying over the structure, landing on his four paws and staying still to observe the area, yuck, why do I have to patrol here? There're no autobots here! He looks at a couple on a bench and nearly gags, quickly retreating into the bushes.

The man looks up, frowning, followed by the girl, "what's the matter?" she asks, the man shakes his head, "I thought I saw, a giant squirrel?" the girl giggles, "joker"

Darkscream sighs, stupid humans. He walks further, jerking to a halt as he hears a rustle behind him, he immediately transforms, turning around and preparing his center laser, "who's there? Show yourself!" he commands, wondering why a strange coldness crawls around his spine, strange, I'm used to night patrols, why am I so scared then? As if I feel something dark is here? The thought is unstoppable, Darkscream snarls angry, "last time, show yourself!!" he warns, his laser starting to glow as it charges.

"wha, What!" the Predacon spins around as he hears another, now much clearer, rustle, gasping as a dark shadow leaps at him…

"goodmorning everyone!!" Koji cheers as he enters the base, seeing Tai, "hi Tai!" the hologram turns around, "hi Koji! How are you?" she asks, Koji smiles, "I'm fine, are the others on patrol?" Tai nods, "yes, all of them" Koji grimaces, Tai frowns, "why the sad look?" she asks

Koji looks up, "I was going surfing, I asked the autobot brothers to join me"

Tai nods, "yes, they told us that, but they have duty" Koji grins, "yeah, like Sideburn would stick to duty's" they both laugh.

"Sideburn??!!!!" Tai gasps as the blue transformers walks into the room, coming from the quarters-area, "what are you doing!!?? You're supposed to be on patrol!" Sideburn looks at her with a somehow strange, satisfied smile, silently, then he enters the spacebridge, still silent.

"that…was just weird" Koji whispers, looking at Tai, her eyes are round, "yeah, tell me about it, why did he smiled like that? So strange"

(4 hours later, 18:37)

"Sideburn, you're taking me home?" Koji looks at the autobot, his pal smiles, "sure!"

"well, can you take me somewhere else, I have to sign in for a contest" the boy says as he enters the car, leaving the autobot HQ.

"oh, and why were you not on patrol this morning?" Koji asks, Sideburns board computer turns black, "I eh, overslept" the bot responds, slightly embarrassed, Koji laughs, "haha, overslept, stayed up late?" "uh yeah, sort of" Sideburn responds.

"this is the place!" Koji points to a large building, exiting the car, "you don't have to wait, my home is nearby, I will cut through the park" Onishi's son says, waving goodbye to his Autobot friend as he leaves the street.

Optimus Prime watches the monitors, arms crossed, ignoring the quarreling of the build team, they had a slight misunderstanding.

"Optimus, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, maybe de Predacons just decided to quit, it's not like they're gaining anything" X-Brawn ponders, Optimus shakes his head, "no, they always are so silent when they are planning some huge plot, remember that case with Fortress Maximus?" X-Brawn nods, "yes, we had to give all we had, good thing Koji was there to stop him" Prowl nods, "which was still strange, who'd ever thought that Fortress Maximus would listen to humans"

"Humans are just better!" a female voice responds, giggling, Prowl looks at the red transformer, "why do you always say that humans are this, humans are that, by Primus, you could be a human yourself, the way you act!" again, the femmebot giggles, Heavy load turns around to face her, "Shara, I've been wondering…" "that's new" another giggle, the truck grimaces, "serious, how come you know so much about human ways? You seem to understand Koji way much better than we do, and what you say to Koji, he understands immediately" the red car grins, "well maybe because I'm smarter than you" she jokes, "no, that was just a joke Heavy Load, here's how: I lived through two wars at least, the beast and the spark, after that, I survived in New Cybercore district's outskirts, if you don't know what that is, then I guess you had your head stuck in a dumpsite for maybe 10 stellar cycles or more, that's what you all know of me" they nod, she giggles, "but, what you don't know is, that I have lived as a normal human girl on planet earth before I was shot into the Beast wars, there! 14 years as a human girl!" they look at her, she smiles, "I'm serious, believe me!"

"ok, whatever you say" Optimus Prime says, feelings mixed.

"alright, then I will see you about two weeks" Koji waves at the woman at the check-in as he leaves the building, alright!! Talent show here I come!! Koji grins as he enters the park through the south entrance, the gravel beneath his feet gives him a relaxed feeling.

"if I take that path through the woods, I will come out on the picnic park, it will be way shorter!" he comments, entering the worn out passage between the trees of the park, starting a run as he doesn't quite like the darkness.

(4 minutes later)

Koji breaths loudly as he stops running, coming out on the picnic park, I should take more exercise he thinks as he tries to calm down before continuing, looking at the ground.

"what's that?" he whispers, looking at a small, dark puddle before his feet, he bends through a knee and touches the liquid with his fingertips, the nearly full moonlight lights his fingers a little, Koji swallows a little as the liquid drips from his fingers in little drops, warm drops, red drops, giving out a scent.

Koji closes his eyes as his brain remembers the scent, locked in his memory from when he was 7, he got a nose bleed then, he learned from that that blood indeed has a scent.

He slowly straightens and looks around, getting nervous and gasping at a sound, then he relaxes, just an owl! Relax man! You're flipping! He looks at the puddle one more time, now noticing that it has a track walking from it, alright! That's it! I'm getting out of here! He starts to leave from the blood, his pace increasing until he's running over the field, heartbeat rising over normal, breath rasping his air pipe until Koji brutally comes to a halt, freezing on the spot, eyes automatically focusing on the scene before him, Koji desperately tries to turn away and flee, at least not to see the horror before him, but his feet nor his eyes obey him.

He feels himself shaking as he looks at the creature, the moon shows little but enough from the beast to make Koji shudder: an almost humanoid creature, 4,5 meter if straight up, a tail with spikes at the end which could make a stegosaur proud, Koji's eyes come onto the hind legs; solid, strong with three nails sharp enough to rip an elephant's skin to shreds. The front claws are even worse: the arms are just as solid and strong as the legs (strong enough to break my backbone the thought strikes Koji's mind fast and hard) the claw has four fingers with equal sharp nails, covered with blood.

The blood! Koji whimpers as he looks at the dried blood on his own hands, looking at the lifeless, half eaten carcass of a deer, the deer-head that has been disconnected from it's body when this monster threw itself on the herbivore.

A suppressed growl, Koji jerks his head up, meeting the eyes of the creature, four eyes which intensely penetrate his, two on one side of the head, two the other side, blood red. He has a mouth with carnivore teeth, 2 times bigger than a lion's. Last, to make it complete, four horns: two small horns on his forehead, two long and curled horns besides his head, beginning in the back of it's head.

Koji looks terrified how the beast turns around, completely facing him, eyes narrowing as it focuses on the human.

"eh, calm down, I won't hurt you" Koji whispers, walking backwards, away from the strange creature who, on his turn, advances on him, tensing his hind legs to take a leap at Koji, "whoa! But you me!" the boy throws himself on the ground to avoid the razorsharp claws, rolling over the grass until he's able to stand up, taking a fast glance aside, only to see the beast turning and raising his tail.

"no!" Koji jumps aside as the tail slashes at him, the spikes missing him on an inch, he turns sharply and starts to run, making a deadly mistake to lose his view of the demon.

"wha..? r-aaaaaaaahhh!!" Koji's scream sounds in the moonlit night as the demon, who had turned himself, kicks his hind legs hard into Koji's back, the boy gets launched and lands a good 8 metres further, he opens his eyes, seeing the beast advancing before he collapses…
