Trigun Fan Fiction ❯ Careful What You Wish For, You Might Regret It ❯ Birthday Girl ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

"This is a great party, Mrs. Trayl!" A young girl stated. It was the middle of October and the leaves were just starting to fall off the trees. The Trayl family had invited the whole neighborhood for their daughter's 16th birthday.

"So, where's the B-Day girl?" The young girl asked, taking a sip of her root beer. The mother sighed and looked up the stairs.

"She's still in her room. She's angry with me because I threw a party for her when she told me not to. How could I not resist? It's her sixteenth birthday!" The mother went on and on with the girl, while upstairs, the birthday girl was sitting on her bed, watching Trigun, ignoring the fact that there was even a party.

Naomi sighed as she popped a few pieces of popcorn in her mouth. She hated parties, especially ones that were meant for her. She sat there, crossed legged on her bed, watching her favorite anime. Trigun was the first anime she had ever watched. Then came Digimon, but she wasn't THAT into it.

Over the episodes, she started picking out her favorite good guys and bad guys. She didn't like Vash all that much because he was too emotional and was always fooling around. She didn't like Knives at all because he never gave anyone a chance at life and because everyone she knew, that watched Trigun, thought he was gay. Literally! (A/N: *coughs* my friends never see the manly-ness in Knives, poor guy ^^U)

Legato and Wolfwood were her favorite. Legato mainly. He was so cool, maybe one of the coolest villains she had ever watched! He was always calm, sure of what he was doing, had a sweet tooth, which she thought was really cute, and he had the smoothest attitude she had seen on a villain.

She watched as Vash, acting like the fool he was, try to catch the last drop of water from the container that Wolfwood was holding. This was the episode where Vash and Wolfwood save the little girl that was left behind in the desert. (A/N: Episode 9 if ya don't remember people! ^^)

A sudden knocking came to her door and the doorknob turned, but the door didn't open. Naomi heard her mother mumble something about how she had ever agreed to let her daughter have a lock on her side of the door.

Naomi rolled her eyes and leaned back on her bed, tucking her hands under her head while her mother demanded that she open the door.

She rolled her eyes again, but didn't move. She had always had the disobedient streak, never liked being told what to do or being told what was right and wrong. She was very smart for her age and she picked up things quickly.

"Naomi! Open this door!" Her mother shouted, though the door, that separated her from the room, muffled her voice. She yawned and stared at the ceiling through half closed eyes.

"Why? I'm still mad with you, you know." She stated in a tone of boredom. Naomi heard her mother heave a defeated sigh.

"Alright, fine, be a stubborn two-year-old, but you got a small package from Aunt Jane and Uncle Carol. It'll be outside your door if you want to see it." She waited until her mother's footsteps disappeared down the hall before sitting up.

She moved the bowl of popcorn from her lap and slid off the bed, making her way slowly toward the door. Naomi was a bright girl when it came to trickery because it seemed everyone thought she was the hopelessly gullible kind of girl. She wasn't.

Instead of opening the door, she silently knelt down on the floor and bent over. She peeked under the door and spotted a white, paper wrapped box. She moved her gaze down the hall and saw a pair of slipper covered feet. She rolled her eyes upward and mumbled, "Typical."

Naomi sat up and leaned her back against the door. She tilted her head up and, staring at the ceiling, shouted, "You think I'm that stupid, mom? Go away or I'll never come out again! I can see your feet!"

She bent back down and peeked under the door again just in time to see the feet shuffle around the corner. With that done, she reached up, turned the lock, and turned the doorknob. She looked both ways before grabbing the light package and closing the door, locking it again.

Instead of walking back to her bed, Naomi just sat there, her legs crossed again with the package lying silently in her lap.

She hadn't seen her aunt and uncle in two years. They had moved out of Colorado to Montana two years back. She made sure she always wrote to them, asking how they were doing, how the weather was up there, but she never got a reply. Sometimes she thought that the post offices weren't doing their blasted jobs and at other times she thought she had put down the wrong address each time.

Well, whatever the reason, she had the right address now. She slowly peeled away the white wrapping paper and popped open the box. The first thing she pulled out was an elastic bracelet with black beads going all the way around. Somewhere on the bracelet, there was a small, silver star that dangled a few centimeters down between two if the many black beads.

"Wow, neat." She slipped it on her left wrist that was already occupied by a thick, snap on black bracelet with five silver crosses. Above that were three, skinny bracelets with brown beads. Each one had a different pattern with two different shaped beads. All three came attached to one cardboard slab when she bought them.

Naomi pulled out a small card then looked inside the box to see anything else. She spotted a small, plastic arm under some of the white grass (A/N: ya know, the stuff ya put in your Easter baskets!) and pulled it out. She gasped, dropping the card. It was a Legato action figure. (A/N: God if only I could find one! XD)

If he were standing up on her desk he would be striking the same pose he seemed to do a lot on the show, which was standing straight with his arms at his sides. But the action figure had his the back of right hand pressed against his hip, making him look all the more sexier.

"Wow!" Naomi set Legato next to her while she picked the card back up. She tore open the top of the envelope and pulled out card with a "Happy 16th Birthday!" greeting written in big blue letters on the front. She opened it up and two twenty-dollar bills slipped out and landed in her lap.

"Alright!" she shouted happily. She had always loved saving up her allowance for big things and getting money from her relatives just made her day. She folded the money slowly while she read what was in the card.

--Happy birthday, Naomi! Are you thrilled to be 16? Sweet, sweet 16! Now you can try out for a driver's license! Once you get a car you could always drive up here and visit us! We would be happy to see you. We miss you and your brother a lot. Also, we've been getting your letters! I bet you're wondering why we haven't been writing back, eh? Well, your uncle and I have been up to our necks in work and trying to pay off these unnecessarily huge bills! I know, you may think it's a lame excuse, but we won't put it against you if you don't believe us. I hope you enjoy our little gifts.

That bracelet represents dreams. There were two others. One meant Love and the other Wishes. I dunno what possessed me to get the black one. Maybe it's because you like dark colors? Anyway, your uncle got you that little boy toy. Why do you like that character so much? He's not real you know! No matter how many times I keep telling you this, you never want to believe me. Maybe that's why I got that specific bracelet also. You like to dream about things that are very odd.

Well, we hope you have a wonderful birthday!

Aunt Jane and Uncle Jason

P.S. Don't spend that money all in one place, y'hear?--

Naomi smiled slightly and placed the card back in the envelope then glanced back at her Legato action figure. She picked it up and walked back over to her bed.

"Wow, my own Legato. Cool!" She ran a finger over his head before placing him in the black backpack that was sitting between her bed and the wall. She had planned on leaving the house to visit her boyfriend, Mike, at his house for their own private birthday celebration then have a sleep over while his parents were away. There was another knock at her door, this time it was her father.

"Naomi? Honey, could you come downstairs? We have your cake ready and we need to you blow out the candles! Please? Your mother is very sorry."

"Yeah, well, if she was sorry she would have listened to me and not have thrown me a party!"

"Please, just come down here and blow out your candles then you can come back up here and sulk," he begged. She clicked off her TV and made her way across the room, unlocking and opening the door.

"I wasn't sulking for your information," she grumbled as she walked past her father and down the stairs.

Alright people. This IS my second attempt at a Legato romance. No it's not self-insertion cause I already have a self-insertion story! ^^ But, I'm also going to attempt writing like a real author. I've been writing for almost 3 years and to think I'm starting this now ……. -.-U

I dunno, I want to be a writer when I get older, but none of my stories are created like a real book. So I'm starting with this one now. I'm going to try to keep it slow paced (not too slow), make it have good romance, good action, try to keep it out of the way of a Mary Sue, (someone said that "Demon In Her Dreams" was a angst Mary Sue, but I wouldn't know) make it have much conflict but not too much, and I might even bring in a lemon. ^^

So I want you guys to give me some HONEST reviews, don't lie if ya think it sucks, tell me! Flame me! I need to know these things so I can figure a way to make `em better! *^^* Laterz and enjoy!
