"Whoa, hello!" Naomi shrieked as she fell back on her butt. She blinked a few times before looking around her. The last that she remembered was some rabid wind blowing around her. She put her an index finger in each ear and pulled them out sharply, getting the whistling sound out.

She stood up and winced, remembering her leg. She sighed. Where was she anyway? She stuffed her CD player in her backpack and slipped it on. It was still nighttime and it was kinda chilly. She rubbed her arms and started her walk toward nowhere.

"Damn, where the heck am I? In a desert? Sure seems like it." It was, in fact, a desert. Nothing but sand for miles from what she estimated. She limped for five minutes when she stopped after noticing something in the sky. She stared at two moons. One was blue and the other red.

"Oh, puh-lease. This isn't what I'm seeing! Wait, this is what I'm seeing. Does this mean that my dumb wish actually came true? Dude! Maybe I should have wished for Legato to be my soul mate or somethin' other than coming here!"

She smiled slightly at that thought then shook her head and started walking again, "Nah, maybe it's better I don't press my luck. At least I'll get to meet the guy."

Suddenly she stopped when a thought came to her. Was she going in the episode timeline or after? She so hoped that it wasn't after or this trip was going to be worthless. She really only wanted to see Legato.

"But first I gotta see where the hell I am," she said with a sigh. She looked all around her and all she saw saw was, oh my, would ya look at that, sand. That's all she saw. Sand, sand, sand. She groaned and plopped down in what she currently hates. She had no idea where to move.

Then, like someone from above her saw her distress, a jeep drove right past her, but slowed to a stop a few feet away. A young woman popped her head out and looked at Naomi.

"Hey, girl. Lost?" She shouted. Naomi wanted to know just who was sending her all these miracles, but she would do that later.

"Uh, yeah. Yeah I am. Could you, um, maybe give me a lift?" She asked hopefully. Even if she did seem to find a town not so far, she doubted she would even make it half way with her damned leg. The woman smiled and nodded.

"Sure, hop in!"

+++++++++++++++++++++

A few miles (A/N: or iles? -.- I'm using the proper words! >] ) later, Naomi was sitting uncomfortably in the jeep as the woman beside her drove at least one hundred miles per hour. She learned that the damned thing didn't have seat belts so she was half scared that she would fly through the windshield if the woman suddenly stopped.

Her leg was starting to give her hell after she had her mind on nothing except maybe the never-ending desert, which was starting to disgust her. Who can stand all that sand? So instead of staring at the ever-lasting nothing, she started massage her ankle, which was giving off the most pain.

Her knee hurt, but that was because it slammed rather hard into the floor when she tripped over-she choked at the remembrance. Naomi still couldn't believe Mike would do that to her. He always said that Susan was a nightmare come true for him and that he was glad that she had dumped him for some "macho cha-cha hunk" and that he had found her. Kind of obvious that he lied.

The woman gave a sideward glance her way then noticed her rubbing her ankle. She turned her eyes back onto the road and said, "What's wrong with your foot?" At first Naomi didn't want to say anything, but she didn't want to be so rude to her. After all, she had offered to take her to the next town called October. (A/N: I don't remember what happened in all the towns, so I'm making some up! So sue me! ^^)

"I fell," she said bluntly. The woman arched an eyebrow and looked at it again.

"Is it broken?" She asked. Naomi blinked. She had never thought of that. It was possible that she could have fractured it, but she instead said, "Nah, just twisted it. By the way, what's your name? I'm Naomi." She wanted to get off the foot topic cause she was starting to get depressed. The woman smiled.

"Caroline. Nice to meet ya, Naomi. So, mind telling me why you were all the way out there? What did ya do? Fall out of the sky or somethin'?" She laughed. Naomi turned her gaze out to the desert and mumbled, "Guess so."

"Pardon?"

"You wouldn't believe me if I told ya."

"Try me," Caroline said with a smirk. Naomi arched an eyebrow.

"Well, I'm human, from Earth-" she started, but was interrupted when Caroline laughed.

"So? I'm human, but my grandparents were from Earth-"

"-that is from another dimension. I'm from the real world and I made this insane wish that is the only obvious reason how I got transported here. In my world, you are a Japanese cartoon known as anime and this world is called Trigun, which is the name of the anime show." She took a deep breath then watched Caroline. The young woman was staring at her, her mouth agape, and her eyes wide.

"What the hell are you on, girl?!"

"I'm not ON anything! I'm telling you the truth! I told you that you wouldn't believe me!" Naomi turned her gaze ahead and screamed.

"Look out!"

"Huh? AAAHHH!" Caroline slammed her foot on the brakes and they skidded to a complete halt, jus a few inches from were a cliff started. Both girls leaned back as their eyes roamed all the way up to the top of the cliff then they turned and looked at each other.

"Oh wait, now I remember!" Caroline said with a laugh. Naomi looked confused as the young woman put the vehicle in reverse, backed up and drove parallel with the cliff. A few minutes later they came to a narrow road that led up, and half around the cliff.

They drove slowly and carefully, but they made it to the top in no time. Naomi gawked at what she saw. October was built right on top of the cliff. It reminded her of something straight out of some old western movie.

Houses that were poorly built stood crowded together, the yellow lights inside each building or house shun out of it's windows, thus giving a little light for those walking around outside, and little tumbleweeds rolled around every time a wind picked up. Caroline parked her jeep next to an old shed and jumped out. Naomi did the same.

The both walked, or in Naomi's case, limped up onto the boards that had been placed tightly together in a row, much like a side walk, only made of wood. They stopped at the second building that said at the very top, in big white and bold western letters "INN".

"Why hello ladies. I can't say I've seen you two around these parts. Come to rent a couple of rooms?" An elderly man said with a warm smile on his lips as they walked in. Naomi smiled back, a true smile. Caroline pulled put a few coins from the brown leather pouch that she had tied to the left front belt loop of her white slacks.

"I'd like to rent a bedroom with two beds, please." The man took the money and turned around to pick a key off a hook then turned to hand it to Caroline.

"Here you go, ladies. Your room is up the stairs and to the right. Thank you and please, enjoy your stay," he said.

"Thank you very much, sir," Naomi said and followed the older woman down the dimly hit hall and up a small flight of stairs. They turned to the right and started looking for the right door.

"Two three one, two three three, two three five, ah here it is," she said in triumph and stuck the key into the doorknob and turned it, shoving the door open, "two three seven!"

Naomi switched on the light and closed the door behind her. The room was plain with only one closet door, a bathroom, two twin size beds, a desk with a small lamp and two nightstands for both beds.

Naomi walked over to the bed that was nearer to far wall. Caroline sat down on her bed and started tugging off her roughed up brown boots.

"Thank you," Naomi said after a minute of silence.

"Ah, it's nothing. I always like helping out," then she added with sly smile, "besides, I'm interested in that little tale you told me back in the desert!" Naomi smiled slightly. She had a hard time believing it could have been her odd wish that brought her to this made up world, too.

"But right now, let's get a little rest, alright? I've been driving from May all the way here with only two pit stops and I'm exhausted!" Caroline stated before stretching then lying down on top of the sheets.

After getting back up and switching off the light, Naomi followed her new friend's example and tugged off her tennis shoes then sliding under the covers.

"Why did you come here, if you don't mind me asking?" Naomi asked after a bit. At first she thought Caroline had already fallen asleep, but she soon spoke in a sleepy tone, "I'm visiting my cousin. She and her friend are in the next town. I can't wait till I see her. I haven't seen her in almost three years now!" Naomi smiled, closing her eyes.

Absently, Naomi mumbled, already half asleep, "What's her name?"

"Meryl Stryfe," Caroline mumbled before dozing off completely. Naomi bolted upright, her eyes wide. Needless to say, she was going to have a hard time going back to sleep because of the excitement that had suddenly flooded her system.
