Vash stood alone in the bathroom cursing his own reflection in the mirror, a victim of his own bad timing. `Just couldn't wait, could you Vash? Just blurt it out without thinking.'
In the past few days Wolfwood had been nearly killed, raped again and crossed the desert with a body clearly in need of nothing but rest only to come face to face with the progenitor of his nightmare of a life. He needed Vash to shut up and be a soft, safe place to heal and recover. Instead he'd offered Wolfwood the one thing he truly needed and just as quickly snatched it away, whether he'd meant to or not.
It wasn't something he could back away from, even momentarily. He'd said it, and now he had to back up his words with some serious action. There would be no `later.' There was only one way to recover from such a monumental mistake and it was going to hurt.
But there was no help for it. He had no intention of running or hiding. He'd only allowed himself this brief moment to prepare for the battle ahead, because getting through to Wolfwood now would be just that: a battle. After a long, slow breath Vash opened the medicine cabinet before him, frowning when he didn't find anything useful. He checked next under the counter and there found something suitable. He hit the light switch and there in the dark he closed his eyes briefly. Once he felt calm enough he opened his eyes, twisted the doorknob and headed out into the light.
Wolfwood was still in that tight ball facing away from him, still awake but oblivious to his surroundings. The room was warm but his shivering continued. Vash grimaced. He walked over, crawled onto the bed calling his guide's name and still Wolfwood didn't move. Finally he steeled himself to do things the hard way. He straddled the prone form, took him by the wrists and rolled him over onto his back. That certainly got a reaction. Awareness flooded back into the dark eyes along with a pain deep enough to match any he'd ever felt.
“I thought I told you to get away from me.”
“You need me. Why would I leave you now?” Anger flashed and just as quickly Vash felt Wolfwood's muscles coiling against him. He tightened his grip on Wolfwood's wrists and pinned his legs down with his own. It was enough to quell any real resistance on Wolfwood's part, and that in itself was frightening. Once he felt the fight draining away he relaxed his hold, leaned down to nuzzle at Wolfwood's neck. “Relax, please,” he said quietly. “I know you think I'm toying with you, that I don't understand but you're wrong. I love you.”

I love you.”
“Stop it,” Wolfwood hissed. Vash was further saddened when he flinched and tried to turn away. “I can't do this anymore. Now just let me go.”
The choice of words terrified Vash but swallowed down on his panic. “There is no way in hell I'm ever going to let you go. You want to trust me, I can see that. Don't give up on me, not now.”
“You don't get it. I don't have anything left to give you, Vash.” Wolfwood settled his dull gaze on the far wall and said no more, clearly intending to just ignore Vash and whatever else he had to say or do.
Vash could feel his heart hammering in his chest. Words, expressions, reassurances all flitted through his mind rapidly and he discarded each because they just weren't right. He began to despair that he wouldn't find the right words to get Wolfwood's attention. “Then let me help you. I'm not going anywhere. Let me show you how much you mean to me, how much I love you. That's what you need, isn't it?”
Wolfwood finally looked at him. It was so simple Vash couldn't figure out why he hadn't said it sooner. His lips parted and Vash held his breath, waiting for the words fighting to escape. “Show me, then.” There was no challenge in his dark eyes. Only permission granted for one last chance.
It was a gift and Vash would not waste it.
He finally released his hold on Wolfwood's wrists and leaned down to capture soft lips with his own once more. As soon as those lips parted to let him in Vash delved in to claim Wolfwood's tongue. Wolfwood responded to the treatment as Vash knew he would, fingers burying themselves in his hair of their own volition. He shifted himself to kneel between Wolfwood's legs, pleased beyond measure when they shifted and rose to welcome his body's weight.
Vash carefully lowered himself, bringing their hips together and gently rocking. Wolfwood tried to rise against him to get more of that delicious friction but Vash denied him, pressing against his hip to hold him down. A shaky moan released into their kiss that sent Vash reeling.
They were both close and neither could wait. Unwilling to risk even the appearance of further rejection Vash raised himself only as much as required to shove his pants down over his waist to free his straining erection. He fumbled for the makeshift lubricant he'd found in the bathroom and slicked himself quickly. The coolness of the lotion was jarring but it had the positive effect of pulling him back from the edge.
He pressed against Wolfwood's knee with his hand and hooked his leg around his waist. A quick indrawn breath answered his actions and he had to bury his head in Wolfwood's neck, unable to bear witness to the flash of pain he was sure to cause.
“This is going to hurt,” he whispered into Wolfwood's ear. “I'm sorry.” Without further warning he pressed himself to the vulnerable opening and rocked his hips forward, entering Wolfwood in one long stroke. Even with the generous lubrication Vash could feel it when fragile tissues tore under the onslaught. Wolfwood groaned and fisted the sheets under his hand as his body clenched at the sudden pain. Tears pricked Vash's eyes. “I'm so sorry,” he murmured.
A moment later Wolfwood reached out to grab his wrist. Vash looked down in to the panicked eyes and understood the slight shake of the head. “I won't stop. I couldn't if I wanted to.” It was no lie; with Wolfwood's muscles spasming around him it was all he could do not give in to the feeling. Had it really only been days since they'd last come together like this? Vash wondered. It seemed like an eternity had passed in the interim.
He didn't bother waiting; it would have just prolonged the hurt. Instead he slid out halfway and pushed back in, changing his angle just slightly and this time Wolfwood gasped. The tension in him relaxed a little, but not enough for Vash's peace of mind. His fist wrapped around the hard flesh trapped between them and yes… there was that low, shaky moan that told him pleasure was finally winning out against the pain.
His muscles trembled with the effort of keeping his pace slow and steady, but he managed it because he knew Wolfwood couldn't handle anything more strenuous right now. Still, it was enough and he silently rejoiced when Wolfwood released the sheets under his hand to wrap his arms around his body.
It wasn't long before he felt Wolfwood's length twitching in his grasp. That and the small, gasping cries he made told Vash how close he was and he let himself go a little. He took his hand away and instead wrapped his arm around Wolfwood's hips, lifting him and trapping his cock between them. He bucked his hips forward, sheathing himself in his lover's body and leaning low. “Feel me Nick,” he whispered into his guide's ear. “Trust in me. This is real.”
He pulled back, almost all the way out and drove back in. Wolfwood trembled against him, around him and he gave a strangled cry.
“I fell in love with you the day we met. You looked past my eyes then, looked into me and saw me. That's when I knew you were the one I'd been waiting for.”
Another pull, another push even deeper than the last and they were both on the brink.
“I'm never letting you go, Nick. I love you.”
His words were the trigger and Wolfwood suddenly went rigid, clamping down hard around Vash's length. Vash could see his head tipped back, eyes closed and mouth wide but no sound escaped his lips as he spilled himself between them. He barely had time to contemplate how beautiful his guide looked like this before the sudden pressure of rippling muscles around him drew him over the edge. Vash spent himself there with a harsh cry, buried deeply in Wolfwood's body.
Vash didn't let him go. If anything he only clutched his body tighter to his own, waiting for that familiar and inexplicable reaction. It didn't take long, nor was it what he expected. Wolfwood drew in a long, shuddering breath, holding it in so long Vash started to worry. But he released it soon after in an equally long moan that took all the tension in his body with it. His body relaxed and Vash lowered them both down to the bed.

Wolfwood held on. There wasn't much else he could do. Vash had made sure of that.
Every flex of Vash's hips brought pain, but it was nothing compared to the starbursts of pleasure that exploded every time Vash came to rest inside him.
He could do nothing but feel until Vash's lips began to move at his ear, his warm breath ghosting impossible things into his ear. His reality seemed to fragment then, becoming a disjointed strand in which he floated. Only Vash kept him grounded, his voice whispering unbelievable things one after another-
“I love you.”
No telltale signs or buildup of pressure. He simply came then, his fingers squeezing into Vash's skin. He knew the word `ecstasy,' but now he understood it. And when Vash released inside him he felt it, and this time he knew it wasn't his imagination.
Love you. I don't want you to hurt anymore. My Nick, mine. Trust me. I love you.
The rush of energy that usually tore through him, alighting his nerves with pure bliss didn't come. Instead warmth flooded his body, taking pain away as it flowed through him. The relief was overwhelming, almost as much as the fact - yes, the no questions asked, undisputed mother-fucking fact - that Vash loved him.

“Nick?” Vash called anxiously. Wolfwood took a moment to respond, opening dazed eyes that still leaked crystalline tears to blink slowly up at him. “Oh, god,” he breathed, mistaking them for tears of pain or fear. He reared back in shock to see the bandaging over Wolfwood's abdomen soaked through with blood. He had to force himself to lower his gaze further, where to his horror he saw smears of blood where their bodies were still joined together. “I went too far…”
Wolfwood still floated in a wonderful state, wondering why Vash was attempting to back away from him. Seeing horror fill the blue eyes at such an incredible moment finally snapped him out of his trance-like state. He sat up to wind himself around Vash like a vine, stopping his retreat and bringing their bodies back together. He shivered at how right it felt to have Vash inside him like this.
Vash shot his hands out to the side in fear of inflicting further harm. “I didn't know you were hurt this badly… No wonder you're so cold, you're bleeding out! You need help and I have to…” A mystified frown came over Wolfwood as he ran his fingers through the soft hair at the base of Vash's skull.
“Hurt me?” He threaded a hand into Vash's dark hair and kissed him, teasing his reluctant lips open with licks and nips, then diving in when the door opened for him. He drew Vash's tongue into a dance with his own, and before long soared at the feel of strong arms circling him once again.
“It wasn't bad,” he murmured between kisses. “It doesn't hurt now. Nothing hurts anymore, just… Say it again.”
Vash cupped his cheek in a warm hand, gazing deeply into the smoky eyes and letting the words flow once more from the deepest part of him. “I love you, Nick.”
Nicholas D. Wolfwood smiled and Vash the Stampede, Humanoid Typhoon and scourge of the planet Gunsmoke… simply forgot to breathe.

The first chapter was done about a week or so ago, but answer me honestly. If I'd left ya'll hanging after the `Reunions' chapter you would've hunted me down with pitchforks, wouldn't you? Yep, that's what I thought. ~_^
