No one knew my Legato; I say my Legato because…well he just was. Let me tell you something, I never told anyone this. Legato Bluesummers: the murderer, the god, the demon. He wasn't any of these things; he was just a man and my lover.

Many years ago my family was killed in an accident, I wandered the streets of a small town until some man who said he could feed and clothe me picked me up. The only catch was that I had to work in exchange; I had quickly agreed…the work was to be a whore. I grew up there; I had no self-respect or dignity because I sold them to the man who found me.

Fifteen years past, I was now twenty years of age…and still a whore. I left the cat house for a while trying to find a decent job and make myself respectable, no one would take me or trust me. I gave up that tirade when I began to starve, so, I went back…back to being a whore. My boss had been expecting me and sent me to the first men who came through the door.

One night, my boss sent me to a man. I knew it had to be someone special because I was sent to the best room of the entire building, I was told to wear my best dress and tidy myself up. I ignored the fat bastard, but I did shower and wash my hair. I found a plain dress and headed to my next customer, I was running a bit late and was expecting an angry, horny rich git. Imagine my surprise when I saw a calm, well-collected man sitting on the edge of the bed sipping wine. He was the most fantastic male I had ever seen, all the others had been pig ignorant bastards whose only goal was to get laid and leave.

I remember muttering my apologies for my lateness and introduced myself as Jade Billow. I was rather surprised when he stood up and introduced himself as Legato Bluesummers and gave a slight bow of his head. I was so shocked, this had been the first man to introduce himself properly and treat me like an equal. He must have noticed because he asked me why I looked so shocked, so I told him, something in those golden eyes changed, emotionless to angry, I thought his anger was my fault and I tensed up a little.

Amazingly, he offered me a drink and told me to tell him about myself. We spent the entire night talking, after I had finished he told me a few things of himself, he told me what he did, how he could do the strangest things with his mind and well his goal to cause Vash the Stampede eternal suffering. I didn't care that he'd killed people because at the time I hated them so much; I was ashamed to be one of them at times. People always said cruel things to each other and tortured each other and I hated them for it. I marvelled at the things he did with his mind, he moved objects around the room and spoke to me in my mind and even controlled my body to get up and get him another drink. I wasn't angry at that, I knew it was only a demonstration. I always thought this Vash was just another human so I wasn't at all bothered about that.

When I woke up that morning he was gone, I wondered if it was a dream at first but when I saw a single crystal necklace placed on top of a note, I think I exploded with joy I quickly read that note:

Dear Jade,

I had to leave early this morning; I have left some clothes in the wardrobe.

Please accept both that and the necklace. Meet me at the sand steamer station at

Ten.

Legato Bluesummers.

I rushed to the wardrobe and saw a beautiful silk dress, it was a beautiful sky blue, the skirt part was flowy so it wouldn't be tight around my legs. Feeling I couldn't wait any longer I washed and put on the dress. This man I had met was going to take me away and I wanted it, I didn't know where he would take me but all I wanted was to start a new life in a new place.

I strode down the stairs of the cat house; all the girls down stairs stopped what they were doing and gawked at me. The boss curious of the sudden silence, looked up at his eyes almost flew out of their sockets. I felt so bold that I told him I was leaving and never coming back, I was going to a far away place and become I respectable young lady. I strolled right past him, I think he was too shocked to stop me and that's how I became free of being a simple whore.

I arrived at the station a little early and suddenly I felt nervous, everything was being laid out before me, but I was frightened. I backed away from the platform and found an empty corner with a bench, I remember sitting down with my face in my hands… I was finally escaping from everything I hated. I didn't even know anything about where I was going or why this blue haired man was taking me. I must have sat there for a long time, someone else had sat on the same bench and I hardly noticed. The person sitting next to me asked where I was going, so I looked up and there he was! Mr Bluesummers, looking like a cat that had just got the cream.

I stared at him for a while, well, now that I think about it I was probably glaring. He told me that we were going somewhere nice and he asked if I trusted him. There was something in his eyes that made me say `yes', it wasn't any of his mind tricks, I've always been certain of that. I linked my arm with his and told him to lead the way, I went of my own free will, simply because with Legato I had free will.

What seemed like hours later I was standing in a beautiful room, there were two double beds and a bathroom! A mini kitchen, a desk, room service and expensive artwork! He told me to make myself comfortable, Legato also told me that we would be meeting a colleague of his in the main dining hall. I was rather shocked because…. Well I had nothing to wear! Legato simply nodded his head at a wardrobe.
