Kurogane was pacing the floor like a caged tiger. The later the day grew, the more agitated he became. It had been two days since he'd seen anyone other than the occasional servant bringing him his meals. He'd considered making an escape during these moments, but found that an invisible barrier stopped him short just a few feet from the huge doors. A similar barrier had been erected been the pillars which lead out to the huge, marble-floored balcony. The fact that he was not even allowed outside galled him, even more so because there was absolutely nothing for him to do in his room.
Though the area was extensive, it was relatively bare. The large bed and one small chair were all the furniture within it. When Kurogane had explored the day before, he'd realized that the only other space he was allowed into was a spacious bathroom, equip with a deep hot tub. Rather than being pleased by at least this luxury, the ebony haired man had cursed in frustration. It occurred to him that his living space was furnished sparingly because his position was no more than that of a pampered sexual slave. Everything was ornate and lavish, but there was nothing that catered to the need for intellectual stimulation even on a base level. Though the swordsman had never been a big reader, he enjoyed sharpening his skills with a few manuals on the arts of war and he would have welcomed a few books in his dwelling if only to stave off his boredom. He deduced that the opulent surroundings were more for his captor's convince than for his own.
And his captor had been the mysterious mage he'd finally come face-to-face with just two days before. During the years in which their battling armies had fought, Kurogane had fantasized a thousand different ways by which he would inflict unending pain upon the man who seemed to be such a ruthless conqueror, the man who so mercilessly killed his men. It hadn't simply been the fact that he killed, either. Kurogane was a killer himself and he could readily admit to the war-lust that sometimes overtook him. But he also played by the rules of war and enjoyed the strategy inherent on the battlefield. Fai's overpowering magics had tilted the scales so dramatically, however, that battles became less a game of strategy and more of a one-sided massacre. Armies were never simply beaten, they were totally annihilated and for that the red-eyed warrior had held the wizard in unrelenting, hateful contempt.
Until, that is, he had actually met him after his capture. It seemed so odd to him that his images of the man could be altered so severely in so short a time. Fai had been nothing like he'd imagined. A far cry from the brutal and sadistic man he thought him to be, the lithe blonde seemed much more like a used doll and his penchant for submissiveness lead Kurogane to believe that it had been King Ashura who had all the ambition after all. The man's head flooded once more with the vision of the willing blonde writhing beneath him and his head spun in conflict. It disturbed him to realize how deeply the slender wizard had affected him. He resented being haunted by the sight of him in his ecstasy, especially when he failed to appear over the ensuing two days, leaving the swordsman to fester in his conflicting thoughts and pace the floor of his ornate prison.
This morning his patience had finally cracked. He had barely eaten, despite the excellence of the food, because his pride caused him to refuse and because he secretly hoped to force Fai to come to him again one way or another. Not that he put it that way in his mind. He only thought of his action as defiant and wouldn't acknowledge the part of him that yearned to see his former nemesis for more intimate purposes.
Yet he couldn't help but see those perfect lips crying out in pleasure and wanting to taste them once more. In frustration at the turn of his thoughts and growing exceedingly cranky from lack of food, Kurogane picked up the one chair in the room and with amazing strength, hurdled it at the barrier between the pillars leading to the balcony. He'd expected the lovely, carved and cushioned masterpiece to splinter into a hundred pieces upon impact, but to his surprise he found that the barrier must have been set to keep only himself from moving beyond the boundaries and the chair, flung with such fury, flew through the marble columns and soared across the wide balcony to finally fall beyond its borders, crashing moments later onto the unseen ground.
Oops, he thought with a little laugh to himself. Well, he hoped /that/ would get some attention. He was going stir crazy, god dammit!
But no one came until later that evening, then Kurogane saw the doors open and a familiar form walk into view. And he had that damn grin spread across his face as he held a tray laden with platters and stepped toward the swordsman.
“Kuro-pin!” the blonde said lightly, “I've heard you haven't eaten anything! What a stubborn man you are!”
Now that the dark haired man finally was able to see the wizard, he didn't know what to feel. He thought his emotions would be clarified, but now he was in even more turmoil. The man was even more breathtaking than he remembered, yet his heightened desire only made him more enraged- at himself or at Fai, he wasn't sure.
“Of course I haven't!” he suddenly shouted. “I've been caged in here for over two days like some animal! I can't go outside! There's nothing to do!” he bellowed.
Fai cocked his head at him as he set the tray down on the edge of the bed. “You certainly have a lot of energy for someone who's barely eaten, Kuro-min!” he said, ignoring the other man's ranting as if he were indulging a spoiled child. And Kurogane, oddly enough, was beginning to feel like one.
He'd been treated fairly, when everything was said and done. He could've been in a dungeon somewhere, or dead for that matter. But the thought that he had been kept alive only as an amusement, for his sworn enemy no less, was somehow worse to him. He'd rather have died with honor. And yet, he couldn't deny that he wanted the lithe wizard- was his fate really all that terrible?
“And you really shouldn't be throwing things off the balcony, Kuro-tan!” Fai chided.
“Stop calling me by those stupid names! And maybe I wouldn't throw things if I were allowed a little room to move! Why can't I go out on the balcony anyway?” he grumbled.
The wizard shrugged saying, “I suppose I could move the barrier back a bit- to give you more space- but tossing around furniture might not be the best way to show how trustworthy you are, ne?”
Kuro simply folded his arms at this, looking cross. He knew the blonde had a point, but he wasn't going to admit it. “Well I needed to get your attention somehow!” he replied, and then realized he might have given the other man too much information.
“You wanted to see me so badly, Kuro-chan?” Fai murmured, looking rather pleased.
“Just so I could negotiate about being cooped up in here, that's all!” he lied.
“I see,” the other man replied with a smile, as if he could see right through the swordsman's transparent excuse.
“So,” Kuro continued, unnerved by the feelings the wizard's presence was causing within him and wanting to keep the conversation from wandering into uncomfortable territory, “will you move the barrier or what?”
“Maybe if you eat your meals like a good boy I can arrange something,” the blonde said in a parental tone, gesturing to the tray he had brought with him.
“I haven't been hungry,” Kuro replied stubbornly.
There was silence in the room for a moment, and then Fai said, in a quiet tone, “You really should eat, Kuro-san.” His tone was completely changed from the light-hearted voice just moments before and Kurogane looked at him standing near the bed, his head hanging. “What will it prove if you just waste away in here?” the blonde asked, now looking up at the other man with a sad expression.
“It'll prove I still have my own will, my own mind!” the dark haired man replied gruffly, though he was surprised at the change in Fai's demeanor.
The wizard gave a soft, hollow laugh in return. “It doesn't make a difference, though does it? It won't change your circumstances,” he told him.
“It doesn't matter! I'm still my own person!” Kurogane yelled, feeling increasingly frustrated by the blonde's disparaging tone.
Fai's eyes suddenly turned hard. “It's pointless!” he said with surprising vehemence. “Everything is `hitsuden'; it's fate, you'd better learn to accept that!” he told him, looking dangerous and desperate as his heavy-lidded gaze stared defiantly at the taller warrior.
Then the mask fell back into place and he plastered a smile over his features. “You'll only cause problems for yourself otherwise!” he said with nonchalance.
Kurogane walked slowly over to the other man, his crimson eyes gazing at the wizard challengingly. “Is that what you've done?” he asked, standing so close that he blonde was forced to tilt his head up to look at him, the taller man's presence strong and palpable. “You just allowed yourself to be used as a pawn?!” he said with some heat, his voice harsh and filled with disdain.
The swordsman had always been a good judge of character, it was a trait one needed on the battlefield as a commander- knowing who could stand up to the challenge, who could be trusted and who would buckle under pressure- and now his feelings that Fai was merely the King's tool were confirmed. The wizard was nothing more than the arrow in Ashura's bow, used and then forsaken until it could be called upon again. But the fact that the mage just accepted his treatment and fought for the tyrannical ruler boiled the blood in Kurogane's veins.
The blonde wizard didn't much care for the other man's tone; moreover, he didn't like the way Kuro's heavy breathing was caressing his neck at the moment, causing little shivers to trail down his spine. Now he remembered vividly why he had avoided the tall, imposing man for the past two days. This uncanny feeling that the swordsman could look right through him and stir emotions even Ashura hadn't been able to touch. He'd been rather disconcerted by the way the Kuro had affected him that first night. The fact that he'd been so swept away by the encounter and had so easily forgotten himself made him uneasy. After all, he hadn't even been sure he wanted to take sexual liberties with his captor that evening. Until he's seen him, his brilliant odd-colored eyes staring at him with open defiance despite the fact he had been bound and forced to his knees. The swordsman had been the greatest opponent he'd faced and he admired his courage and strength of will even after defeat. Fai only wished he had such audacity. But that vital spark had been smothered long ago under Ashura's firm hand. The wizard no longer even entertained the idea of escape to a different kind of life.
When his King had told him he had a special surprise waiting for him in the guest chamber, Fai had been a bit surprised to discover Japan's Imperial Guard Commander kneeling in the center of the room. His first thought had been that he was glad the man had survived- he deserved to after his valiant fighting. However, the blonde wasn't sure he liked the idea that his King and lover had `given' him this man as he did. It was obvious that he was there for sexual conquest and the thought that Ashura would so willing let him take another lover hurt him. Not that he should've been surprised by anything the man did anymore, hadn't he learned his lesson by now?
So he'd decided to allow Kurogane to take him to spite his master, but the situation had quickly developed into something he had never expected. And now the swordsman was far too close to him again, igniting feelings within him he had thought were forever buried. He needed to get away.
Without replying to Kurogane's stinging words, Fai turned abruptly to leave, afraid of what might happen if he stayed any longer under the warrior's penetrating stare.
“Where do you think you're going?” came the swordsman's quietly threatening voice as Fai felt a strong hand suddenly grip his wrist. After days of solitude, Kuro wasn't about to let the blonde leave so soon.
“Let go,” Fai said in a warning tone. He could almost /feel/ Kuro smirk behind him, the dark haired man was just itching for a good fight to vent all his frustrations.
“You're staying,” Kuro told him. He knew he was risking the mage using his magic against him, but he had a feeling that the blonde would refrain from this.
And he was right- when Fai turned around he didn't use his magics, but his response certainly wasn't what Kuro had expected.
The blonde turned to face him and, determined not to allow the swordsman to have the upper hand, glanced up at him with a wicked look in his eye. “How do you plan to convince me to stay, Kuro-chan?” he asked in a silky voice. Then he watched the dark haired man's eyes widen as he lifted the hand Kuro still had wrapped about his wrist and slipped the tip of his tongue out to lick across his fingers.
The swordsman's look of astonishment was priceless and just what Fai had expected. He had meant to shock him long enough to slip from his grasp and make his exit. However, he underestimated Kuro, who recovered from his stupor in time to grab the blonde by both arms and roughly throw him over to the bed, his desire suddenly and sharply aroused by the wizard's boldly seductive move.
Fai cursed himself for letting his guard down and lifted himself up onto his elbows- or tried to. Kurogane's powerful frame was already atop him, pinning him down into the silken sheets. The swordsman noted that although the blonde beneath him looked rather displeased at the turn of events, he wasn't struggling against him either. The entire situation began to give the dark haired man a wicked erection. He grinned.
“You like this, don't you?” he said, leaning down to whisper seductively into the wizard's ear. Fai remained silent, fighting with himself.
When the wizard didn't reply, Kurogane lowered his lips to brush across the man's neck, darting his tongue out to lick the exposed flesh and cause tiny shivers to rush through the blonde's body.
“Tell me you like it, Fai,” the swordsman insisted, punctuating his command by sinking his sharp teeth into the creamy pale skin along his throat.
The blonde gasped as the pleasant pain shot adrenaline through this system. Already he was overwhelmed by the man's domineering attitude and longed to give himself over to him. “I-“ he began, but the words seemed to catch in his throat, the last thread of his will power struggling to hold on.
In response to Fai's hesitation, Kurogane bit down deeper, applying his teeth with vicious force to the sensitive skin. In addition, he moved from his straddling position to place his legs between the blonde's thighs, pushing them wide in the process.
The wizard beneath him cried out, his independent will now crushed by his desire. Throwing himself at the mercy of the other man he finally gave in, saying with a whimper, “Yes, I like it! I want you, Kuro!”
The man above him grinned, finding his former enemy's submission thrilling beyond words. He gave a little laugh that sent a chill down the blonde's spine. Then Kurogane's mouth covered his, smothering his lips with punishing force and pushing his tongue deep within the wizard's waiting mouth.
Fai responded eagerly, mewling and purring beneath the swordsman's wandering hands as his pants were slipped down his legs. He was left naked, accept for his sheer white robe, which only served to frame his lithe body. Kuro paused to admire him, drinking in every elegant curve. Instinctively, he began moving his clad hips against the other man's exposed groin, eliciting the sweetest moans before slamming harder against him, giving him a preview of the carnal pleasures to come.
“Please,” Fai pleaded, “Please take me!” His slim fingertips clawed at Kuro's chest as he spoke.
The swordsman pinned his wrists back down to the bed. “You're far too eager, little neko-chan,” he teased. “I'll fuck you when I'm good and ready!” he hissed with unveiled excitement, grinning ear to ear, completely engaged by the blonde's submission. After two days of solitude with only his thoughts and the memory of Fai and their first sexual encounter, Kurogane was going to milk the experience for all it was worth.
He also had a strange thought itching at the back of his mind. Fai hadn't required much preparation the last time they had been together and now he was already eager to rut without much foreplay. It meant he'd probably been taken before, and frequently. Was it the King who'd ravished him? He wouldn't be surprised, but he found he disliked the idea. An uncomfortable feeling of jealousy crept into his chest and try as he might to suppress it, he found it growing as he watched the man beneath him respond so eagerly. Perhaps it hasn't just been with the King; perhaps the attractive blonde wizard had many lovers.
Kurogane's smile faded, replaced by a scowl. Fai noted the change in the man's attitude with confusion. “Kuro?” he whispered, pressing his hips into him in an attempt to bring his attention back to the moment. The blonde was desperate for release. He'd never felt so aroused so quickly, even with Ashura. There was something different about the swordsman that he couldn't quite pin down, but he felt it nonetheless. For one, he seemed to be able to read him better than anyone he'd known, which was saying a lot since the wizard prided himself on keeping his true emotions locked away. However, he found he couldn't read Kuro as well as he'd thought. He could swear the man looked almost jealous right now… but that couldn't be right, could it? What cause could his former enemy, the man whose armies had suffered so by his own hand, have to be jealous?
Suddenly Fai found himself flipped onto his stomach, his hips pulled up and back against Kuro's now naked groin. The dark haired man pushed the wizard's thin white robe up his back and flung it over his head, leaving his arms through the sleeves so that the garment now constricted his movement and covered his head so the man was blinded to the sight of the warrior positioning himself at the his tight entrance.
Kurogane licked his hand and coated his member as best he could with his saliva, not knowing what else to use for lubrication and not feeling inclined to wait and look around. His mind reeled with thoughts of the gorgeous blonde being pounded into submission by other men and he was incensed that he should have such inappropriate feelings about the man who he still considered his enemy. Lusting after him was one thing, wanting to possess him the way he had possessed the lovers he truly cared for was something else entirely. He was irritated with himself and with the man who had stirred the emotions inside him and now Fai would feel it the brunt of his anger.
Without word or warning, Kuro plunged to the hilt within the blonde's pliant body, causing the man to cry out in surprise and not a little bit of pain. Although it was true the slender man had been taken many times, and Ashura was not particularly gentle, the swordsman had taken him with a force and brutality the blonde had not anticipated. His body tensed and he began to feel slightly overwhelmed. Moreover, he had hoped Kuro would reach around to stimulate him, as he was incapable of reaching his own aching erection with his arms caught in the sleeves of his robe. His frustration did nothing to calm his increasing tension.
Kuro, however, had now lost himself in the feeling of Fai's gripping channel. He hadn't remembered him being so gloriously tight. With unmasked aggression, he clasped the blonde's hips and slammed himself into him again and again until he could bare it no longer and, shooting his seed inside the other man's heated body, he collapsed on top of him.
The swordsman had never felt anything like it before. Admittedly, he was a jealous lover, but his feelings towards Fai seemed completely unfounded. He knew that logically he shouldn't have any feelings at all, but he'd been totally swept away by the sensation of pumping himself in and out of the man's willing body. He released a deep sigh and began to lift himself from the blonde's body, realizing his substantial frame was probably a bit heavy for the mage.
Then he heard it: a soft sniffling noise. His brow furrowed as he felt Fai's body trembling beneath him. Pulling the man's robe down once more and looking at the blonde's face pressed into the sheets, he felt as if he'd been punched in the gut.
Fai's cheeks were stained with tears, his blue eyes laced with red.
“I don't want to play this game anymore,” he whispered miserably.
“Fai…” Kuro breathed, shocked into stillness. “What have I done?”
