Twilight Fan Fiction ❯ Faith Says ❯ 4: What Next? ( Chapter 4 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]
It's Saturday. What now? Mom's still dead, and I don't know where Dad is. I think he just disappeared.
Maybe he doesn't care since Mom is gone now.

I think Chris is still gone. Mom isn't dead. She's hiding. Either way, she's in Heaven, where life is going to
treat her greatly.

Annabel wants to go shopping. I don't. I'm bored. I hate Saturdays, they take away from our daily routines.

I get ready for a boring day and decide to go for a drive. When suddenly, the phone rings.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Faith! It's Jessica. Let's go out. We can get some food or something."

What else is there to do? "Jessica, can I bring a friend?"

"Sure, whatever. I'll be there in a few minutes! So be ready."

I hang up the phone, and I tell Annabel to get ready, and we'll go shopping with a few friends from school.
She agrees. I need to change. Not my clothes, but who I am.

Beep beep! I hear from the driveway. "Faith, your friends are here! Are we ready to go?" Annabel shouts
as she marches downstairs.

I nod at her. "Annabel, where's Chris?"

She stares at me as we leave the house, "I don't know. He disappeared when we found out Mom died."

I know she's lying, but I won't force her to tell me. "Ok, well let's get going!"

Jessica's car is nice, and little, slow seeming though. Annabel and I slide in the back seat and say hi to
Jessica and Angela. "Jess, Ang, this is Annabel, my sister. Annabel, they're my friends, Jessica and
Angela."

A few exchanges of hi's, and we're off. "So, where are we going exactly?" Annabel asks quietly. She is
shy, unlike me.

Jessica looks back at her through the rearview mirror, "I was thinking we could go shopping. Maybe, we
could even go eat something, and then have a sleepover!"

I stare at her. "Who's house will we stay at?"

"Not sure yet. Can we stay at your place?" Jessica asks. I can see her reaction to my room now. Perhaps
I'll buy a bed or something while we're shopping. The next step in preparing my room.

"Sure, if you help us finish unpacking tonight and then tomorrow we can do something awkward." Annabel
says.

I had forgotten that Mom and Dad never did finish unpacking. And we're so busy with school we never
even have time to.

Angela let out a giggle. "That actually sounds fun, believe it or not. So, where do we want to go shopping
first?"

"Hot Topic." I say. The girls stare at me, and I shrug. "What? It's my type of store."

"How about American Eagle?" Annabel suggests, and I gag. Jess, Ang, and Anna all laugh at my
reaction. "Or Aeropostale?" Again, I gag. But Aeropostale isn't as bad as American Eagle.

"I wouldn't mind going to a book store." Angela speaks up. I like books, too, so I smile in approval at that
idea.

"Hm, I just need clothes. So, maybe I'll go to Debs." Jessica says. Funny, I never took her as a Debs kind
of person.

We pull into a little shopping center type of place, and we walk around together, looking at this and that. I
see Rue 21 across the street and talk them into going. It's not scary to them like Hot Topic, so of course
they agree.

Once we were done shopping, we each had a few bags or so of our own, Jess and Anna had more than
me and Angela. We go and eat at a small, Italian restaurant, and we make our way to Jessica and then
Angela's house to get some things for staying the night.

Once we get home, Chris and Dad are still out, so it's just the four of us for the night.

"Very nice interior as well as exterior of the place." Jess compliments, and we thank her.

"So," Annabel begins, "There's not a lot left to unpack. But there is a certain variety of things for each
room that needs to be set out and unpacked and the such. Let's all choose a separate room and make it
look nice. Use your imagination though." I like that idea.

Annabel gets to finish the kitchen, Jessica chooses the dining room, and Angela and I decide to work
together on the living room, since it is big and all.

"Faith, where are your parents?" Angela asks.

I look at her, and I work at keeping my self-control and emotions in check. "Oh, they are, um, out. I guess. I
don't know."

"Oh, I'm sorry. It's not my business, and I honestly didn't mean to bring up bad memories."

I smile at Angela a sad smile. I can't keep holding this in. I need to tell everyone. I need to get it all off of
my chest. I want to make things better. For me and for Annabel.

"Angela, my Mom is dead."

"Oh my Gosh! I'm so sorry." She says quietly.

"My dad and my mom got into a fight Thursday night, apparently, she had gone out, and he followed her to
make things up to her. Instead, he only got mad, and he shot her. I haven't seen him since then, though."

Angela stops unwrapping a picture frame and looks over at me. "Wow, so it was recent. I really should not
have asked."

"No, Ang, it's ok. I needed to get that out in the open. I'm slowly suffocating, and talking, even if just a little,
really helps out."

"I'm always here for you. You can talk to me whenever you need to, Faith."

"Yeah, thanks." I say and turn away, finishing with my part of the unpacking. She does the same.

After hours of hard labor, we finally finish with everything. I showed them my room earlier, while we were
passing through upstairs. They laughed. Even Annabel, for she had no certain idea why I had so little
amount of stuff. I explained to them that I was remodeling my room, which is partly done due to the paint
and carpet, before I put a bed or anything big in like that.

"So, that's why you had to buy that gigantic bed while we were out shopping. Well, I guess it certainly does
seem easier that way." Jess summarizes.

"Yes, that is why. Want to help me put it together?" I ask, narrowing my eyes at the thought of doing it by
myself.

"Sure. We can't make you do this all by yourself now, can we?" I grin thankfully at them.

We complete our task soon, quicker than if I had done this by myself. After we finish, we sit around and do
different things. We play truth or dare, watch movies, and we even give each other weird make overs and
play dress up. We have tons of fun.

At around three in the morning, we are all finally fast asleep. Later that day, Sunday, we wake up, eat, and
eventually they leave. Annabel and I are left alone again.

"So, what now Faith?" She asks.

I ponder on this, "Want to help me finish my room shopping? I need to get it nice and tidy. I'm done with
the painting and stuff."

"Sure, why not."

We get to work.

"Faith, what's up with you and Edward?"

Random question. "We're just friends. That's all."

"He's so sexy though! Are you going to date him!?" She asks excitedly.

"He's dangerous. I'm dangerous. We probably shouldn't be hanging out. But I have to admit, it's very hard
to stay away from him. I'm looking forward to seeing him tomorrow."

"Hm, you two would make a good couple. Tall, pale, and handsome. Your type, no?" She laughs, and I
smirk at her.

"Faith, why don't you laugh or smile anymore?"

"Annabel, think about it. I'm sure if you ponder on it long enough, you'll figure out why I am how I am."

"Because of Hawaii, me, Chris, Mom, Dad. . . I'm sorry, Faith. How about we go to school together
tomorrow?" She smiles at me, and I shrug.

I never really noticed how pretty Annabel is until now. Her hair is bleached, and she has black and pink
color striped highlights in her bangs and on the bottom layer of her hair in the back. Her hair is short,
shoulder-length, and layered, as I mentioned with the highlights. She is thin, too, but unlike me, she has
emotions, personality, and color. She loves to wear color, mainly pink, but it suits her. She's not as bad as
I took her to be.

We both passed out while watching "A Walk to Remember" on the couch in the living room.

Sunday passed quickly.

Monday is here. It's sunny. I'm not going to school. So I sleep in, after telling Annabel I will ride with her
tomorrow instead.
