Chapter Fourteen

Van and I emerged from the room; I had cleaned up and was hungry. We made our way to the dining room where Allen and Melerna were. We joined them at the table and ate lunch.

"What are you two so happy about?" Allen looks at a giddy Hitomi and a pleased Van.

"Van and I are going to get married."

"Wow congratulations you two." Melerna congratulated them both.

Allen raised his Glass of whine up, "I'd like to give a toast to the King of Fanelia and his Future queen, may they find happiness, like I have with my beloved princess."

"So have you two set a date?"

"No, not really."

"We were thinking sometime in august."

"You can count on Melerna and I to be there…" Allen started

"…we wouldn't miss it for the world." Melerna finished.

It was getting late we couldn't stay; we had to get back to Fanelia. We said our good-byes and we left Asturia. I rode Kira while Van was walking inside the Escaflowne.

It was nightfall when we got to Fanelia. We walked through the gates. Word had already spread that their king has decided to settle down.

Van put Escaflowne away, while I put Kira in the stables. We met back inside the palace.

Merle ran up to my and hugged me. "I'm so happy for you and Lord Van."

"Thanks Merle."

"When's the wedding going to be?"

"Van and I talked about it on the journey back and we decided Friday, August 13th"

"I know it's a little soon we have exactly one month for Hitomi and I to prepare."

"You two can count on my help and support, I'm so happy for you Lord Van."

"Thanks Merle, your help and support would mean a lot to us."

The news of the upcoming marriage made its way into Folken's Kingdom.

"You heard what?" asked a very curious villager.

"Lord Folken's younger brother Van, King of Fanelia, he's finally going to settle down. Van and Lady Hitomi will be getting married next month."

"Hitomi…Hitomi. How come that name rings a bell?"

"She's the one Lord Folken brought back from the Mystic moon a few nights ago. She stayed in his majesties palace for the night and his majesty gave her one of his most beautiful horses."

"Oh."

The news made its way into the palace.

Folken was in his study, open books were everywhere, he was conducting some experiments. Folken would spend hours in his study. He was always fascinated with science.

There was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?"

"It is me, Kang-Lin, my lord. May I come in?"

"Come in."

Kang-Lin came in and closed the door.

"I have brought news of your brother."

"What is it?"

"It seems that the King of Fanelia is about to take a wife. Apparently he proposed to Lady Hitomi this very morning."

"Thank you. You may leave. Make sure I am no disturbed until tomorrow."

"Yes my lord, I'm sorry if this news upset you, forgive me."

Folken just looked at Kang-Lin and she left.

"So my brother, you had the courage to finally ask her. I shouldn't be acting like this. I should be happy for him. Why am I jealous, she has always loved him, she would never love a freak…like me?" Folken looks down at his right arm, he was ashamed of it.

Folken sat down on his stool rested his elbows on his desk and rested his head on his left hand.
