Prelude

A crack of lighting streaked across the sky as the unbound lovers rolled in their cries of passion. The thunder roared on the outside as pellets of hail and rain hit the glass of the window. The power went out in all the buildings and the wind whistled through the now quieted rooms of so many.

And yet these lovers noticed nothing: only the touch, the feel of flesh against flesh… the heat that ignited them within with every slide of their sweat covered bodies.

She cried out in pure ecstasy when a flash of white light streaked across her closed eyelids. Wave after wave of orgasmic pleasure coursed through her veins reaching every part of her body. He followed her not long afterwards crying her name out into the night as another roar of thunder made itself known to the otherwise silent night. His body collapsed on her but he held himself up on his elbows so as not to crush her beneath him.

The only thing left to be heard was their hard breathing and the violent storm outside.

"Why is it that we cannot stop this?" She asked the man above her. They both shook with the aftershocks of their releases. "Why is it that I always come back to you? What power do you hold over me?" She let out a soft sigh and closed her eyes, "If Van found us…"

He silenced her with a soft kiss to her lips. He pulled out of her gently and rolled over, spooning himself upon her, "Don't think about it… Stay with me, Hitomi… You already know that the way I feel about you is true… And if Van were to find us it would make no difference. He can't stop me… he can't stop you…" He nuzzled his face into her hair, inhaling her appealing scent. His arms wrapped around the two of them, bringing their bodies closer together.

"I love you… Dilandau…" She closed her eyes content with staying with the man lying naked beside her.

Hitomi shot straight up looking around and breathing hard. Her eyes came into focus as she took in the surroundings of her room in the Castle. Her bag still lay at the window seat and the curtains blew gently in the night breeze, the cool air causing goose bumps to rise up on her heated flesh. Her heart raced madly in her chest as she tried to comprehend her latest dream. Confusion etched onto her features.

`It was all just a… dream? But… I don't understand… Why, Dilandau?'

She sighed and lay back down in the bed. Sunrise was still a few hours away but she knew that sleep would not come easily for her.

`He's the enemy… he tried to kill Van… he launched the attack on Fanelia…'

She sat up again and threw the covers from her body. The night was warm and the cool air outside was so very inviting. Ambling over noiselessly to the window, she kneeled at the foot of it and looked up into the night sky. The moon was dipping and soon the sun would rise just over the horizon shining its rays into her room. Her nightgown clung to her body, snugly hugging her frame and outlining her soft curves. Her honey brown hair framed her face as her green eyes continued to stare into the lush gardens just below. Her mind raced with endless thoughts of her dream and what it may have meant.

"Dilandau…"

Her tiny voice seemed like the loudest thing in the room as her soft whisper seemed to echo in her ears. The silence disturbed her. She looked back at her abandoned bed: the green canopy shading the bed in an almost natural beauty, as the white silk sheets lay tossed precariously on the soft divan. An unbidden image of two lovers flashed through her mind, making her blush and turn back to her window.

"I need some air…" She stood and slipped out of her nightgown, dressing up in her track uniform. She made her way to the door and quietly snuck out her room and along the dark halls of the vast castle. She was surprised she remembered the way to the gardens or she knew that it would have taken hours to find her way out of the maze known as the castle halls.

Inhaling deeply, she began stretching her taut limbs. A few hours of sleep tended to tighten her muscled so stretching always seemed to help before a good run.

And so she set off into the rapidly vanishing night. The breeze quickly caressed her face and limbs whispering songs of tunes long forgotten as her legs propelled her forward past the luscious greenery of the gardens to the beautiful flora decorating its infinite expanse. To her she was just running… running away. Running away from her problems, her visions and… her dreams.

Her visions haunted her, indeed but… recently her dreams… her dreams invaded her pleasant slumber and plagued her. Lately her dreams seemed more like her visions and if it hadn't been for the fact that she woke up every night unable to fall back to sleep, she would have most likely identified them as her disturbing visions… for all of them seemed so real and yet it was impossible. Passionate nights with Dilandau were most definitely unable to be considered realities… weren't they?

She stopped and inhaled harsh ragged breaths. She had been running for quite some time and now the moon had completely vanished and the sun's rays were peeking over the tops of the green trees. The run had refreshed her but she hadn't realized how far she had run nor in which direction she had come from.

`By the gods I'm stupid…'

She sighed and stood rooted to her spot, not moving an inch.

`Okay so I have not moved since I stopped… so logically if I just made a 180 degree turn and ran straight, it would ultimately lead me back to the castle, right?'

Standing up straight she turned around only to find herself looking at a set of red eyes with a malicious glint in them. His silver hair fell slightly over his eyes and framed his beautiful face. His lips twisted into a smirk as recognition struck him and he brought a hand to trace the scar along his cheek, the only imperfection on his unmarred visage.

She gasped and stepped back, shocked to see the one person she desired not to, the one who was responsible for her restless nights. Her voice was barely audible as a strong gust of wind shook through the trees violently, "Dilandau…"
