SCENE 50: Int. Room where CELENA has been taken. DRYDEN is standing by MILLERNA.

DRYDEN: You know, Millerna, I'm no doctor.....

MILLERNA: I'm glad you're not!

DRYDEN: Well...I was saying...I'm no doctor, but...something doesn't seem right

MILLERNA: (carefully looking at CELENA, noticing that her chest is not rising and falling.) She's not breathing.... her skin's so cold....

SCENE 51: Int. Hallway. ALLEN is walking by...

MILLERNA: (offstage) NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ALLEN runs into the room where CELENA is

ALLEN: (panicky) What's wrong?!

MILLERNA: She's....she's....she.....

ALLEN glances at CELENA in alarm. Suddenly, however, she begins breathing again. Her skin is still cold, though.

MILLERNA: Oh........

DRYDEN: What just happened here? Did I just miss something?

A MAID IN THE DOORWAY: It's a miracle!!

SCENE 52: Int. Room where SHESTA is lying, passed out. FOLKEN is watching him, making sure he's all right. SHESTA wakes up

SHESTA: Where am I...? Did I pass out? Where did my armor go?

FOLKEN V.O.: Awake, talking, good thing. Delusional, bad thing.

FOLKEN: You know, Shesta, it's very disturbing...

SHESTA realizes where he is and that he is in the present. He suddenly sits up.

SHESTA: Where's Celena? Is she okay? I need to see her!

FOLKEN: What you need to do is stay in bed for a few minutes. I'm not supposed to let you go walking around right now, especially not if you're delusional.

SHESTA: I don't think I'm delusional any more, but I guess you're right. But when can I see Celena????

FOLKEN: You need to see your children to help them over their trauma. Whenever anyone tries to pick Enicia up, she starts screaming. And Samech just sits in the corner, not saying anything.

SHESTA: But Celena...?

FOLKEN: She isn't awake yet. You can see her later.

FOLKEN V.O.: You really don't want to see her right now, Shesta. Not in the condition she's in. Best if you keep busy a while.

SCENE 53:big walking talking tree. Room where VAN is passed out. MERLE and HITOMI are standing by his bed. The sun is rising and the room is awash in golden light. Suddenly, VAN's eyes open.

MERLE: VAN-SAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MERLE runs over and starts licking VAN's face. HITOMI smiles.

VAN: Merle...Hitomi....what....happened?

SCENE 54: Int. Room where all the kids and most of the adults are, with the exception of MILLERNA, ALLEN, and CELENA. SHESTA is sitting with SAMECH and ENICIA on his lap. They are just sitting there, staring straight ahead. Around them, the other children have seemed to have recovered from their shock and are playing together. JAJUKA is sitting near SHESTA.

SHESTA: Why are they still so traumatized?

JAJUKA: You know, your children are quite intelligent.

SHESTA: Thank you for the compliment, but what does that have to do with the situation?

JAJUKA: I think they are smart enough to know that something is wrong with their mother...that she's hurt.

SHESTA: How is she? I haven't seen her...I've been too tied up with the kids.

JAJUKA: I have no idea...I haven't seen her either.

SHESTA: Is she doing so badly that they don't want those who care the most about her to see her?!

JAJUKA: Well....Allen's in there....

DRYDEN: And that worries me. I mean, he and Millerna have been in there a long time, and Celena's still passed out...

SHESTA: Ew. Dryden, I think your wife has better things to do right now than cheat on you!

SAMECH gets up and runs over to VAN, who is sitting at a table

SAMECH: Hi Van!

VAN: Hello.

SHESTA: Since when have you learned not to be afraid of my son?

VAN: Hey, we made a truce. Right Samech?

SAMECH high-fives VAN.

SAMECH: Yeah!

VAN: See?

SHESTA: Yeah...

SAMECH: Hey Van...?

VAN: Nani?

SAMECH: What's a twuce?

VAN: Uh......well....

SHESTA: sure ya did, Van.

Scene 55: Ext. Meadow. the DRAGON SLAYERS are all sitting around, dejected. VIOLE is especially dejected...

GUIMEL: I can't believe that it actually happened...

DALLET: I know we had some fun and all...we didn't....exactly act....well...he wasn't around to give us orders! So what does he expect us to do? And we were hurting Van...I thought he would be pleased by....why did he....did he really mean it?

GATTI: Well....we were being pretty sadistic...and we were just wreaking general havoc, I mean....we weren't really acting like soldiers....I can see why he was displeased...

MIGUEL enters. He gives a little wave.

MIGUEL: Hey! Long time no see! I've been looking for you guys for ages...ever since that doppelganger...yuck. Anyway, what's wrong with Viole? I just saw him over there, sobbing, saying he'd been rejected or something!

VIOLE: (a little ways away,) HOW COULD THIS HAVE HAPPENED? I'VE BEEN REJECTED! HE DOESN'T LOVE ME ANYMORE!

DALLET: Uh....Viole? Sorry to uh...burst your bubble, but....he never did!

VIOLE: You're just jealous! My Dilandau-sama!

MIGUEL: NANI O?!?

GATTI: Uh...sometimes it's best not to ask....

VIOLE: I miss him so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GATTI: You know, I kind of feel sorry for Viole....I mean, this kind of prolonged delusion.....

DALLET: One *heck* of a delusion, too!

MIGUEL: You know what? I think I just figured out what's going on! And now I feel really sick!

DALLET: You JUST figured it out?

GUIMEL: GOOD MORNING! Welcome to the world!

MIGUEL: So...how'd all of you die?

GATTI: Van killed us.

MIGUEL: You let yourselves get killed by that b******?!

GUIMEL: Shut up.

SCENE 56: Int. Room where CELENA is. CELENA is still unconscious. ALLEN and MILLERNA are still there, watching her.

MILLERNA: It's been two days since she passed out. I don't know what's wrong with her---she's still so cold...it's not normal.

SHESTA enters

SHESTA: Where is she? I hope this is the room...this is the sixth door I've tried--no-one's told me where you put her.

ALLEN: She's in here.

SHESTA walks over to the bed to see CELENA on it. She's breathing steadily, but besides that she barely looks alive. He gently touches her arm, sees how cold it is, and pulls back his hand in semi-shock

SHESTA: Is she going to be okay?

MILLERNA V.O.: I really don't know, but I shouldn't tell him that....

What the others in the room don't know is that Celena is actually conscious. She just can't react is all.

CELENA V.O.: What's...going...on??

ALLEN: (to SHESTA) She's be all right. Celena is really strong.

SHESTA: Yeah....I know....

SHESTA puts a hand on one of CELENA's hands.

SHESTA: Hey! She feels...a little warmer!

MILLERNA: Is she waking up?

ALLEN: Celena...?

CELENA's eyes half-open...she looks dazed.

CELENA: (to ALLEN) What....what's going on?

ALLEN: It's okay... you'll be all right. Do you remember what happened?

CELENA: What...happened when?

SHESTA: Guess not.

CELENA: Shesta...?

SHESTA: I'm here.

CELENA tries to sit up, but is unable to hold up her weight. She flops back onto the bed.

CELENA: Why can't I sit up?

JAJUKA enters

JAJUKA: Are you okay? How do you feel?

CELENA: I...I'm very tired....like something has drained all of my strength away.....

JAJUKA nods.

MILLERNA: We shouldn't be asking her these things now. We need to wait until she's gained enough strength that passing out again won't seriously harm her.

CELENA: Hey...what happened? I...I want to know.... (she is dozing off)

MILLERNA: We'll tell you when you are strong enough to hold one of your children.

JAJUKA: You know, I really don't think that's necessary...

MILLERNA: Well....I'm the one who's the doctor, so...what makes you think you'd know better than I would?

CELENA is asleep

JAJUKA: You don't even know what caused it.

MILLERNA: Well...do you?

JAJUKA: Yes.

JAJUKA leaves. MILLERNA stares in the direction he just went.

MILLERNA V.O.: huh?

SCENE 57: Int. same room, a few days later. CELENA is sitting up in bed, more lively. (We would say "animated," but....with anime characters they're always animated....so...yeah) She has SAMECH and ENICIA on her lap. Pretty much everyone else is in the room, too.

CELENA: Now, see, I'm holding both Enicia and Samech. Now am I strong enough to hear about what happened?

EVERYONE looks at MILLERNA, who nods. People glance amongst themselves, wondering who should tell.

JAJUKA: What's the last thing you remember, before you passed out?

CELENA: The last thing I remembered clearly or the last thing I remembered?

JAJUKA: start from what you remember clearly and work your way down.

CELENA: We were eating dinner, and....Van was taking perverted pictures of Folken....

VAN: Thanks.

CELENA: Well, you were! So...then...suddenly...I felt like I was being attacked by something....like something was trying to posess me...It was...like spiraling downwards into...into oblivion....

JAJUKA: Do you know what you were being posessed by?

CELENA: No...I mean....I'd guess it was Dilandau...if not I'm going to be very afraid or what lurks in my psyche that I don't know about (cracks a tiny smile)

FOLKEN: You do realize that your eyes turned red...

CELENA: Okay, Dilandau then. So what exactly happened?

SHESTA: Well...so the Dragon Slayers were there--they'd somehow followed Sora, and you...I mean...it must have been him! I mean, it wasn't you...made them leave. But I know it was him! Like when you'd flipped out before, I knew it was you...I mean...using his...ways of reacting I guess...but like the time with the sword...it was something that you were upset about. But then...I swear it was him....

CELENA: (in a faraway voice) his last attempt...

MILLERNA: Then you passed out...it was so odd...for a few minutes it seemed that you had died! I mean...you stopped breathing...but...

CELENA: But then I started breathing again, all by myself....Now I remember....now I....remember everything...

MILLERNA: Hm?

CELENA: Not...bits and pieces. Not flashbacks...just a constant...and....

SHESTA: What's going on? Are you okay?

CELENA: That time when you say it seemed like I died? I didn't...it was that...Dilandau died. (she is smiling in a knowing, serene way.) He's....finally gone. It's all me, here....Dilandau is finally dead.

DRYDEN: Now, he's not going to come back and haunt us, is he?

CELENA: No...because...he isn't...there's not enough of him to make a ghost. He was never supposed to exist...and now...he simply...doesn't.

VAN: Does that mean you won't flip out anymore?!

CELENA: I think so.....my eyes might still turn red on occasion, though.

SHESTA: I'm glad it's you now...

SHESTA hugs CELENA.

ENICIA: Nani okurei?

CELENA: Nothing Enicia, it's okay.

SHESTA ruffles ENICIA's hair and then lifts up SAMECH and ENICIA.

MILLERNA: Maybe we should all leave so that Celena can get some rest.

EVERYONE begins to leave. MERLE is the last one out the door.

CELENA: Merle...?

MERLE: Huh?

CELENA: Do you by any chance know where Sora went? I haven't seen her around.

MERLE: Sora? Oh, she left.

CELENA: Why'd she leave? I didn't think she'd give up on Folken that easily...

MERLE: Eh.... Well.... she left because everyone was death-threating her...

CELENA: Why doesn't that surprise me?

CELENA sighs.

CELENA: Eriya, Naria... who else?

MERLE: Well... Folken.... Allen...and She...

MERLE stops and thinks of something else to say.

CELENA: (slightly supicious.) Who?

MERLE: Eh... um... um.... eh.... she did!

CELENA: Who?

MERLE: Hitomi!

CELENA:(dryly) Hitomi?

MERLE: Yeah, Van-sama almost died, and that didn't make Hitomi happy...

CELENA: Merle... Did you mean to say 'Shesta'?

MERLE: Would Shesta ever do a thing like that?

CELENA: Of course he would. He has a hard time shaking off his disturbed past.

MERLE: So you're not mad?

CELENA: Of course not.

EPILOGUE: Ext. meadows of castle. All characters are there, sitting on lawnchairs. The children are running around. ENICIA and SAMECH bring CELENA a large basket of flowers. Meanwhile, the adults are talking:

SHESTA: I can't believe this sequel has finally come to an end..

VAN: Yeah, it seems like it has just begun...

VAN V.O.: Or maybe not....

FOLKEN: It wasn't exactly as the title said, though.. I mean, I come back to life, I do a lot more than just visit...

CELENA: And it wasn't always happy... sometimes it was downright scary!

DRYDEN: It wasn't always happy? I thought it was!

EVERYONE ignores DRYDEN

CELENA: But I am a prominant character!

HITOMI: and Van and I are together forever and ever!

HITOMI and VAN hug

SHESTA: So, maybe the title ought to be, "The Sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes scary sequel to Escaflowne, in which Hitomi and Van are together forever and ever, and have Damien and Yukari, and Folken, Eriya, and Naria, come back to life and have Varie, Tara, Stephen, and Samanya, and Celena is a prominent character who marries Shesta...yay!... and they have Enicia and Samech."

JAJUKA: eh.... Shesta? That's a bit long...

FOLKEN: Yeah, and you don't want to give away the entire plot!

CELENA: I think we should just stick with the origional title.

MILLERNA: yeah....

DAMIEN runs over with YUKARI

DAMIEN: Hey Dad? Can we go flying?

YUKARI: yeah, can we?

We can see that the children who are Draconians have slits in the back of their shirts so that they can put out their wings without destroying their clothing and looking indecent. VAN stands up and takes his shirt off, grinning.

VAN: Sure! Do your cousins want to come? Hey Folken, wanna come?

FOLKEN: Sure!

FOLKEN takes his cloak off and puts out his wings

NARIA: Oh, Folken-sama is so handsome!

ERIYA: Yes, he is....

ERIYA sighs dreamily

FOLKEN: Hey Hitomi? You know those shirts you made for the children? Could you make me one?

HITOMI: 0.0

VAN puts out his wings and soars up into the air. FOLKEN follows suit, and pretty soon, the children join them up there. They play for a few minutes, laughing and yelling. Then, VAN soars downwards, scooping HITOMI up out of the lawnchair. She wraps her arms around his neck as they fly together.
