Chapter 4
Jaquan woke up from his bed. It was pretty close to noon. He got up and stretched his back. His back with those annoying two bumps he had all of his life ever since he could remember. His past was a shadowy blur, but his present and future were all clear to him. He and the rest of the empire would conquer all, have Gaea, and they would have power beyond belief. After a while, Cebria came into his room to wake him up. "Wake up captain sir," she said bowing down with her long, aqua green hair, "the fortress is almost finished and you need to get ready." She handed him a formal Zaibach outfit, black and gold just like he wanted. And of course, he received his sword; a sword that Wielmer had made for him, giving him permission to use it as he pleased. Jaquan looked at evilly, thinking of the things he could do with it. He loved the sound of death, of screams, cries; he was pure evil.
After Jaquan got ready, he met with Dalmacius to discuss plans to attack either Asturia or Faniela first. When Jaquan came downstairs, he noticed Dalmacius had his black outfit on too, except his wasn't as fancy as Jaquan's. After a moment Jaquan asked, "So where shall we attack first? Asturia or Faniela?" "Well Faniela is too easy to conquer," Dalmacius began, "and Asturia is too hard. So we should leave the decision either up to you or to Wielimer." "Lets just flip a coin shall we?" Jaquan suggested sarcastically, "Dalmacius I gave you this job for a reason!" he suddenly shouted, "You need to give me a decision now! Or else!" he took out his sword threateningly at Dalmacius. "C'mon now! Stop it or I'll get the sorcerer!" Chantra shouted. They ignored the little slayer's cry. "You have made a huge mistake Jaquan daLarzas!" Dalmacius said taking out his dagger staring angrily at the boy's eyes. "Oh, I think you're the only one who has made the fatal mistake Dalmacius Harrison Belgeron!" Jaquan said grinning evilly at Dalmacius. "Please Jaquan! Stop it!" Opalina said. They ignored her and still stared at each other angrily. Suddenly Jaquan began to run towards him screaming in anger. Dalmacius simply took his dagger and put it in front of him. Dalmacius blocked Jaquan's attack. Then he grabbed Jaquan. Dalmacius probably would have stabbed Jaquan to death if Wielimer hadn't appeared out of nowhere shouting, "What is this? What is going on here?!" Suddenly the two boys stopped fighting. They immediately bowed down to the sorcerer along with everyone else.
Jaquan got up and looked into the sorcerer's eyes. He was slapped across the face and was grabbed by his hair. "What is wrong with you boy?!" Wielemer yelled with a look of fury on his face, "Unleash your anger at the enemies, not on our own people!" then Jaquan was thrown to the floor. Opalina came running to Wielmer. She snuggled into him and licked his face. Wielmer kissed Opalina on top of her forehead, "Thank you so much my dearest for coming to me and telling about this fight." He said sincerely to her. "Anytime." Opalina said snuggling into him again. Then she walked off with Chantra, Cebria, and Yhkon.
"Since you two fools can't decide on who to attack first I will decide for you." Wielmer said angrily looking at the map. He used his pointer finger to go over all of the kingdoms listed on the map. "Asturia, Fanelia, Basram, Cesario, Daedalus, Egzardia, Fried…" "What are you talking about sir?" Dalmacius asked looking at the map with Wielmer. "There are no such kingdoms as…" Suddenly he noticed that they did exist, they were right there on the map, clear as day. "Oh I'm sorry sir." "Oh it's fine whatever," Wielmer said walking off, "At least you have more choices to chose from. Hurry now please, we need to get onto the fortress within 10 minutes." Jaquan evilly laughed as he looked at the places on the map. "Mere victims," Jaquan thought aloud, "Mere victims…"
Meanwhile in Fried, Dena, Merle, Van, Cerena, Gaddas, and all of Allen's men were all watching bellow, as the King was about to speak with Allen Schezar. There were two soldiers next to Allen and two behind him. Milerna sat right beside her father, the king, with a more formal dress than she had on before. Milerna waved to Allen, and Allen smiled at her but didn't wave back. "Stupid little…" Dena began to murmur. "Allen Schezar," the king began. Then he paused for a moment, a long moment. Dena began to wonder what the king was thinking exactly. "Why did he stop speaking?" Dena asked Cerena. Cerena shrugged her shoulders. "I…I don't know maybe he forgot what he was going to say…" Then they all noticed that the king had his hand up. Then the king snapped his fingers. Suddenly the four guards grabbed Allen and chained him up. "What the heck?!" Gaddas shouted going to the edge of the balcony of where they were all sitting. Dena, Cerena, Merle, and all of Allen's men followed. "What are they doing?!" Cerena asked in shock
A few minutes later Allen was chained up to a wall. He suddenly remembered his dream. "No, this is…this is…impossible…" he thought. Dena was shocked. Why would they want to kill Allen? Then Dena became enraged. Not having a single idea of the kind of trouble she could get into, she shouted to the king with all of her might, "Don't hurt him! He has done nothing wrong!" Allen then felt like it was deja'vu going on. The King looked right towards Dena; in fact everyone looked towards Dena (yes even Princess Milerna). "How dare you speak in such a manner to me!" the king shouted. "It's exactly what you deserve!" Dena shouted pointing to the king. "Oh my God!" Cerena said putting her head in her hand, "This going to ruin Allen, no everyone's reputation here in Asturia! Oh god…" You have no right to kill Allen!" Dena shouted again, "You haven't even stated the reason why you want him executed!" The king just stood there and laughed. Everyone was in shock. The King himself was already bewildered, but she did have some kind of a point. He needed to state why Allen was being punished; even if it humiliated him. "All right then," the king said, "I'll have my squire read the decree for Allen Crusade Schezar's execution!" he clapped his hands and the squire went out into the middle of the stadium next to Allen. "Prince Chid, the heir to the Fried throne, has confessed that he knows that Allen Crusade Schezar is his own father!" Dena gasped and looked at Allen. Allen put his head down and blushed. "HE HAD A SON?????" Dena thought to herself. "So we automatically conclude that Allen had an affair with the late princess Marlene, which is absolutely unacceptable and against the law!" Dena looked down at Allen. Had this innocent angel really done such a wrong thing? Dena then saw the Prince walking towards Allen.
"I'm sorry father." Prince Chid whispered to Allen. "I understand, son." Allen whispered back, "You're a young boy…" "Chid!" his servant said, "ask him if he has any last words." Chid looked at Allen again for a moment. Allen had distressed yet comforting eyes towards the prince. The little prince looked down and wept. While weeping he said, "Any last words?"
Dena saw the emotion going on in the stadium, even though she was way up in the benches. She began to just feel the way Chid was feeling. She had something in her heart that told her there was nothing she could do, but she desperately thought of ways to save Allen. But she knew it was no use. She began to cry bitterly. "Oh Allen…" Dena began, "you did such a bad thing, but it was just out of love…it's not right for him to be killed…he's an…an..!" Suddenly Dena felt a slight pain on her back. It was probably those two bumps on her back that were birth defects she had had ever since she was a baby. She began to rub them when she felt something…
Something very…feathery…
She felt it for a moment. She felt the shape of it, the touch of it. Cerena noticed Dena too. "Dena, what the-?" she lifted the back of her shirt. Cerena gasped and drew back. Dena turned around scared and said, "What? What is it?" "You have….w…w…" "What do I have Cerena on my back???" Dena asked shaking her, "What???? What is it that made you gasp in shock???" Van suddenly noticed Dena's back too. He gasped and didn't say a word. "You have wings Dena! Wings!" Cerena shouted shaking Dena. Dena's irises shrunk. She was joking right? "What? You're…you're lying…" "Don't believe her? Take a look through this!" Merle said handing Dena a mirror. Dena looked through the mirror at her back.
She saw her wings.
Dena laughed with joy, shock, and happiness all at the same time. "Oh my God this is amazing!" Dena said twirling around. Just then she looked down bellow back at Allen. She saw some executors sharpening their blades getting ready to do their deed.
"Oh gods…" Allen thought to himself, "You warned me in my dreams last night to beware of danger, but I was too distracted by other thoughts…" Suddenly he noticed Dena was on a ledge of a large balcony. She looked like she was in some kind of pain. She squinted her eyes and clenched her fists. "What is she doing?" Allen asked to himself. Dena continued to clench her fists and squint her eyes and also let out little moans of pain. "What the heck? She could have at least waited until she got to the bathroom!" one of Allen's men shouted. The men cracked up at the man's wisecrack. "Shut up guys," Van said, "she's never sprouted her wings before so…" "What the heck are ya talking abo-?" They all began to notice Dena growing something from her back. It looked like she had two huge weights on her back.
Dena could feel the weight of her wings on her back now more than she had before. She began to feel like she was being squashed down into the earth and she had sweat drops rolling down her cheek. She looked like she could have died right then and there. "Oh my God," Van began, "She needs help…" "No wait! She's almost finished Van!" Merle said pointing to Dena's back. She was right. Dena began to get up. Her wings felt much lighter now. But they still weren't all of the way out yet. "Dena! Finish sprouting your wings!" Van shouted, "You're very close to finishing!" Dena gave the last thrust to her wings with all of her might. She put her hands on her heart, closed her eyes, and then gasped in relief as her wings finally burst out. During the process her shirt ripped, leaving only the upper section left on her body. Feathers were everywhere and everyone, even the executors, were amazed.
Allen stared at Dena in her new form. She looked so innocent and beautiful to him already, but now with her wings…she looked like a goddess to Allen. "She's… an… an
Angel." Allen said aloud. Dena opened her eyes and looked down bellow. Her instinct told her exactly what to do. She jumped up into the air, then glided down swiftly to where Allen was.
All of the executioners were scared out of their mind so they ran off. Chid was grabbed by one of the servants and taken away. Dena landed down by Allen. The moment she went up to Allen and looked into his eyes, letting him know everything was going to be okay, the metal cuffs on Allen disappeared. Allen gasped in shock as he looked at his wrists and feet, he knew he had been freed. Allen looked at Dena again. Everything around her was just a heavenly golden light. He looked into her shinny green eyes. So cool and calm like a forest, a deep dark forest, just like the one he found her in. After a brief moment of looking into her eyes Allen sincerely said, "Thank you." "What are you waiting for??!" The king shouted angrily, "Get them!" Dena thought fast and grabbed Allen from his back. She jumped into the air and began to fly. She flew higher, and higher, and higher, far away from the stadium where angry guards, executioners, and a very furious king were screaming at them to come back. As soon as the stadium began to fade away from his view, Allen whispered to himself, "My dream…." and everything went black.
The next thing Allen knew was that he was on the ground, the damp dark ground. He lifted his head and noticed that it had become nightfall. He looked all around him; he was under a beautiful tree with thousands of flowers out in a large field. The Mystic Moon shone over the night sky and a thousand stars were out in the sky. Allen suddenly remembered Dena. "Where-" he stopped and gasped in shock at what he saw. There Dena was, with half of her shirt gone and her wings still spread out. "It wasn't an illusion!" Allen thought to himself. He looked at Dena. She still had her young, innocent green eyes and her long, curly, brownish gold hair. Her wings were the most amazing things Allen had ever seen. He suddenly had an urge to touch one of her wings. Without thinking Allen began to reach out his hand towards her. Out of the blue, a gust of wind blew through his hair. He quickly snapped out of it putting his hands at his sides. While the wind blew, most of the flowers on the tree blew down. Most of the flower petals got stuck in Allen and Dena's hair, and one of them blew towards Dena's hands. Dena took out her hands and gently took the flower petal. Suddenly Dena realized her feathers from her wings were going all over the place as well. Allen looked up above him and grabbed one of Dena's feathers. "A flower petal." Dena said to herself. "A feather." Allen said to himself.
Then there was a flash of light, and the two began to have vivid visions.
Dena's Vision of Allen Schezar
Dena saw Allen, a little girl, a young boy, a beautiful woman, a handsome man, and another lovely woman who looked like a princess. Then she saw a huge explosion, a very ill woman, a little son, a young Japanese teenager, the rain, Allen kissing the Japanese teenager, Allen getting wounded, being operated on. And then Dena appeared on top of a roof of what appeared to be a tower.
"Susan go get some water for me." A beautiful woman told a servant girl. "Yes m'" the girl said walking off. Suddenly a handsome man came out of nowhere and walked up to the woman's window. "Oh my beloved, how are you this evening?" the man asked. Then the woman gasped in shock at the man and said back to the man, "Sir! I don't think I recognize you from any where, and I don't think I even know you…" "But that doesn't matter though my lovely," the man said climbing some vines to get up to the woman in the tower, " I've loved you ever since I can remember, I just know we're meant for each other." He made it to the top of the tower and kissed the woman's hand. The woman then looked into the man eyes. She gave a look of longing for passion on her face. "Oh my gosh," Dena said, "She likes him! And she doesn't even know him!" Suddenly she gasped and then asked the man, "Are you…are you…Leon Schezar??" "You remembered me!" the man said. "Okay I guess she does know him," Dena said again, "hey wait a sec..Leon Sch..Oh! These are Allen's parents!" Then the man leaned in to kiss the fair lady and she grabbed him and they dramatically embraced. Then there was another flash of light. Dena then was in a bedroom and she saw the man holding a baby. "Oh he's beautiful dear!" the man said joyfully, "just wonderful! This Allen Crusade Schezar VIII will be from here on out the pride and joy of the Schezar family!" Dena went up closer and looked at the baby. He was so cute! "Awww he is so innocent looking!" Dena said. Then she saw another flash of light. She saw a young boy running around with a little girl. "Allen! I bet you can't catch me!" the little girl said running away from Allen. "Oh yeah! I'll get you Cerena!" the boy shouted running after her. "Oh they're so cute as children!" Dena squealed with joy. Allen ran around after Cerena for a long while. Cerena laughed with joy with her beautiful eyes and long blonde hair. Allen then ran up and tackled Cerena. "Gotcha!" Allen said pinning Cerena to the ground. Cerena and Allen both giggled joyfully as Allen helped Cerena up and gave her a hug. "Awwww…" Dena said smiling at the two, "They've always been close haven't they?" Cerena then looked at Allen for a moment and ran away. Allen stood there now as a grown man watching Cerena run. After she suddenly vanished, he looked at the ground and began to cry. "Why doesn't Allen go after Cerena?" Dena asked surprised. Suddenly she was in a dark and cold room with younger Allen and a depressed woman in her bed. "I…I…can't go on…" the woman said in a deep, sad voice. "Mother what do you mean?" Allen asked crying into her shoulder, "I'll make you feel better mother I will! I promise…" Then there was a bolt of lightning. She then saw Allen standing in front of a grave. He had little tears rolling down his face as he set down a bouquet of beautiful pink flowers on top of her grave. Then he bitterly said to himself, "This would have never happened if father hadn't gone away!" "His father?" Dena asked. Then she realized something. "He never really had a father did he?" Dena said looking at the crying young Allen. "Oh my God this is so sad…" Dena began with her voice shaking. "He lost both of his parents at such a young age…and his little sister…" then she began to bitterly cry about how sad Allen's past was beginning to appear.
Suddenly Dena was in a trade ship with the young Japanese teenager she had seen earlier, Princess Milerna, Van, and Merle, and of course Gaddas and some of Allen's men. "It looks pretty bad," one man said looking at Allen. Dena then looked at Allen and gasped in horror. Dena saw Allen rapped up in bandages with red blood gushing out of him. She saw him squeeze his eyes and moan in pain. Dena quickly went up to Allen to tried to hold his hand, but her hand went right through his. Suddenly she was in a different room, this time with more sunlight shining on Allen, and Allen awake. "Allen!" the Japanese girl said. "Hitomi." Allen said smiling at her. "So this is that girl named Hitomi," Dena said looking at the girl. Then she noticed the pendant she found earlier on earth on Hitomi's neck. "That must be her necklace I technically took from her! My bad!" Then Allen looked at Prince Chid who was nearby. Dena could hear his thoughts: "This is my son! My beloved's son!" Then she saw Allen, with much shorter hair and a beautiful princess kissing. "I love you Allen." She said looking into his eyes. "I love you princess." Allen said kissing her again. "Oh my god, they were so much in love," Dena said, "No wonder…she's so beautiful."
Suddenly it began to rain and the next thing Dena knew, she saw Allen kissing Hitomi. "Huh?" Dena asked. Then she saw Hitomi kiss Van. Then she gave her pendant to Van and walked into the pillar of light, similar to the one Dena had been in to get to Gaea. Then she saw Allen hugging Cerena with short hair saying, "I'm so glad you've forgotten those horrible things my little sister…" "Forget what?" Dena asked, "What does he mean?"
Allen's Vision of Dena Takichina Khan
Allen suddenly was in a strange room with people in very strange outfits. "It's a girl. Congratulations." A kind woman said to a mother holding her baby. "Thank you." She said with tiny sweat droplets rolling down her face. "I'm naming her Dena Takichina Khan." "A very lovely name." A man said sitting next to the mother. "This must be Dena's father." Allen said. Suddenly the woman began to feel something weird on the baby's back. She lifted up the back of the cloth around Dena and gasped when she saw the two bumps. "Oh that's probably just some form of a birth defect," one of the doctors said, "It's nothing fatal or anything. I know because we had a baby just like that a year ago…except he wasn't a girl…" "Oh okay." The mother said calming down. Birth defect or not, she loved her little baby. Allen then became curious and took a look at the baby the mother was holding. The baby had tears rolling down her face from her green eyes. Allen looked at the baby and smiled. "This must be Dena as a newborn." Allen said. Suddenly the baby noticed Allen. The baby looked at Allen for a moment, which startled him. "She can see me?" Allen asked. Then the baby closed her eyes and went to sleep.
Suddenly Allen saw Dena outside with some friends. Allen felt the hard, rough, black ground he was standing on and saw many weird things including a metal-chained fence, a weird looking machine that made music, and many other things that he couldn't even describe. The weird looking box thing was playing a song that went like this:
Although loneliness has always been a friend of mine,
I'm leavin' my life in your hands
People say I'm crazy and that I am blind
Lets get it all in a glance…
"Hey Dena you like him don't you?" a girl said to Dena. "Who?" Dena asked. "Oh my god, Jeremiah of course!" the girl said in a 'isn't it obvious?' tone. "Yes I like him," Dena admitted, "but no way I would have a chance with him! He's one of the most popular Jocks in Gablesworth Middle!" "What the heck is Gablesworth Middle?" Allen said, "Is it her kingdom she lives in?" A voice subconsciously told Allen what GM was and Allen said, "Oh…" "Yeah," the girl continued, "but he's one of your best friends too! C'mon make a romantic move, get serious!" "Oh…I…" Dena said speechless.
Now how you got me blind is still a mystery,
I can't get you out of my head.
Don't care what is written in your history
As long as you're here with me….
A flash of light suddenly blinded Allen and the next thing he knew, he was at some kind of place with a pool of water and hard, rough, white ground. Allen could see a young boy about Dena's age with some young and older looking boys. Allen also saw Dena with her friends sitting on some sort of bench. "Oh my God! I can't wait 'till High School can you Dena?!" "Nope, can hardly wait." Dena said looking at the sky. Allen then notices some boys were mimicking Dena saying, "Oh look at me everyone, I am Dena, the stuck up bitch with weird bumps on her back. Hey maybe someday I'll become a chicken and peck on poop all day." All of the boys laughed except for one. The one who didn't laugh said, "What is wrong with you people?" everyone stared at him. "Gosh Jeremy, we were just joking…" "Oh this must be Dena's ex-boyfriend…" Allen said. "Yes I know what it feels like to be stabbed in the back by people like you." He said getting angry. He pointed to the two bumps he had on his back. "I have bumps like Dena too ya know! In case you haven't noticed!" he paused for a moment. "In fact, you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to go talk to her right now! And finally tell her how I really feel about her…" All of the boys oooed at Jeremiah. Jeremy punched one of the boys and the boy fell back into the pool.
When Jeremy got to Dena, all of her friends had gotten into the pool and she was all alone. Jeremy knew this was a perfect opportunity. "Hi Dena." Jeremiah said to Dena sitting next to her. "Oh hi Jeremy how is it going best bud?" Dena said smiling and blushing. "Can you keep a secret?" Jeremy asked Dena. "Sure Jeremy." Dena said, "What is it?" "Well…I remember you telling me about your birth defect…" "Yeah…" Dena said. "And I," Jeremy said looking at the ground shyly, "I…want you to know that…I have them too." He turned his back towards Dena and pointed to his fairly visible bumps on his back. "Oh." Dena said a little surprised. "And maybe…" Jeremy continued, "Since we have so much in common…" They began to get closer, "And we have the same kind of bumps…" Dena leaned in more and let Jeremy kiss her. "This was her first kiss…" Allen said.
Allen began to see that Dena was right. He wasn't a bad person at all. He saw that they had many romantic nights together and many fantastic days. He saw that they had a strong bond for each other and no one could separate them.
Suddenly Allen saw Jeremiah slap Dena. "You bitch!" Jeremy said, "I hate you! I'm the only one good enough for you and you still treat me this way!" "Why would he say something so sick as that to her?" Allen said getting angry. Then he saw Jeremy shout to Dena, "Dena this time it's over for sure! I never want to see your ugly face again!" Allen was so mad he reached for his sword. But it wasn't there. "How dare you call her ugly! You slimy disgusting boy!" "What is wrong with you Jeremy?" Dena said confused and angry and sad all at the same time, "You were never like this until your father…" "Shut up woman!" he said slapping her again. "STOP IT!" Allen screamed at Jeremiah, "STOP HURTING HER!" Allen saw that Dena had tears rolling down her face. He then heard Dena say, "Oh why does my beloved have to act this way?! Last year he was fine! We got along really well, we never fought like this.." "How could she love a boy who acts like this to her?" Allen said looking at the ground feeling sorry for Dena.
Then they both had flashes of light and they came back to Gaea.
When everyone on the Crusade ship finally found them both, Dena finally had her wings put away but was still troubled by the vision of Allen's past she had. "Allen I never knew you had such a sad past," Dena said looking sadly at Allen, "you lost both of you parents at a young age. You lost your sister for a while…you almost died once…" Dena began to cry. "Oh my god!" Dena cried figuring Allen was getting annoyed with her. "Shhh…" Allen gently whispered hugging Dena. "Don't cry for me Dena. It is all in the past now…" Dena soon stopped crying. "I know but still!" Dena said hugging him tightly. "It's just so heartbreaking…" "So is the way you and Jeremy ended your relationship." Allen said concerned to Dena, "Even if he does love you and you love him, but he hurts you…that's just not right…especially for such an innocent angel like you." Then he gently kissed her cheek.
Allen then went into the Crusade ship with Gaddas and all of his men. Merle just sat there staring at Dena. Van smiled. Cerena smiled. "He likes you." Cerena said. Then they all went into the Crusade ship as well leaving Dena by herself. Dena touched her cheek gently. He had kissed her. She lovingly held the hand she had touched her cheek with and whispered, "Allen…"
