Chapter 5

After about an hour of just staring at the stars, Dena decided she had better get to sleep. She went upstairs to Cerena's room and saw that Cerena was on the floor sleeping again. Dena smiled and looked at the bed, which was neatly made and proper and clean. "Thank you Cerena." Dena whispered to herself. She jumped in and covered herself up with the covers. She looked out the window into the night sky one last time before slowly closing her eyes…

Dena woke up a few hours later, in her old bedroom on Earth. She stretched out her back and yawned loudly. She bugged out her eyes and said, "I'm…I'm…I'm back!". Suddenly she heard a tap on her window. She looked over to see who it was. It was Allen. Allen smiled and waved at Dena, who was now in her pajamas. Dena got up from her bed and opened her window. "Allen? How did you get here to Earth?" Dena asked surprised. "It doesn't matter how I got here Dena," Allen said holding Dena's hand "Lets just go on that date we've planned." "Date?" Dena asked blushing, "But I'm not even dressed…" "Yes you are." Allen said smiling pointing to Dena. Dena then realized she was wearing her favorite pink backless spaghetti-strapped shirt with her favorite flares with flower patterns on them. Her hair had many of those decorative beads in it and she was wearing her pink tennis shoes. "We…we…have a date planned?" Dena asked blushing while looking at Allen shyly. "Yes we do." Allen said gently taking her hand again. Then he helped her out the window of her bedroom and then he kissed her hand. Dena now was blushing a bright, fire engine red. "Umm…" Dena began, "Where should we go first?" "Any where you'd like." Allen said with a bright smile. Dena looked all around her for a moment. Suddenly she noticed her most favorite thing in the world. It was the Gablesworth city carnival. And instead of it being deep in downtown Gablesworth, it was right next to her house. "Lets go here! I love this place!" Dena said pointing towards the carnival. Allen looked at the carnival in amazement and wowed. Dena then grabbed Allen's hand and led him towards the entrance.

The carnival let couples in for free, so they didn't have to pay. After that, they walked into the carnival. First they went on the roller coaster. Allen and Dena laughed with joy as they went up and down and looped and looped. After the roller coaster Allen bought Dena some cotton candy as they walked together talking about how much fun they were both having. Then they saw some carnival games. Dena told Allen to come on because he knew he was going to have a great time. Dena only won one of the games, winning a baseball cap she decided to give to Allen. Allen won almost every single game there was and won Dena a big pink teddy bear, a new Backstreet Boys CD, a new *NSYNC CD, and a beautiful necklace in the shape of a beautiful dove. After they were all done playing video games, Allen motioned Dena to follow him and said, "C'mon Dena!" then he ran off. Dena smiled and laughed as she ran after Allen.

While running, Allen saw a photo booth. When Dena finally caught up to him, she noticed was looking at the photo both with curiosity. "Oh that's a photo booth!" Dena said, "Lets go in, I'll show you how it works." Dena decided she had better start paying to be polite so she put her money into the machine and they both went in to take pictures. Dena put Allen's new baseball cap on his head and told him he had to smile for the camera, which was right in front of them. The first picture was taken. Suddenly, Dena felt something in her pocket. It was her sunglasses from when she was in Jr. high School. She shrugged her shoulders and just put them on. The second picture was taken. Then Allen playfully hugged Dena from behind her and smiled, while Dena was laughing in surprise and embarrassment. The third picture was taken. Then Allen gave a peace symbol smiling brightly for the camera, with Dena smiling too. The fourth was taken. The rest of the 8 pictures were also something like that and when they were finally finished, Dena took out the pictures and said, "These look great!" Then they both giggled, as they looked and saw how funny they looked in most of the pictures.

After many hours of riding the roller coaster, the haunted mansion ride, and the Ferris wheel, they finally made it over to the merry-go-round by nightfall. Dena and Allen both walked up together to the merry-go-round. Dena picked a beautiful golden horse that was right next to a dashing gray one that Allen liked. While Dena was beginning to climb up, Allen picked her up by her waist and set her up on top. "A man always helps his princess in need." Allen said giving Dena a romantic look that made Dena's heart melt. "That's so romantic Allen." Dena said as they began to go around.

They only went around and around on the merry-go-round for about five minutes, but it seemed like forever before they finally got off. Allen looked so dashing and handsome as his long, shinny blonde hair shone in the night. His eyes were a happy deep sea blue, and his smile looked like it would shame the angels of the heavens. His hair looked more beautiful than the most gorgeous celebrity could ever have.

Finally when they got off, they left the carnival. Now they were out in the middle of a huge parking lot. Dena recognized the place. "This is where me and Jeremiah danced for our last middle school dance!" Dena thought to herself. Then she looked at herself, and realized she was now wearing her dress from when she was at the dance as well. "Shall we dance?" Allen asked with his hand out to hers. "Of course." Dena said taking his hand. Allen twirled her around and picked her up in the air, making it seem like she was flying. Suddenly her wings popped out. Allen then set her down. "Why did he stop twirling me around when my wings burst out?" Dena thought "Is it because he was startled, no! He must be annoyed with my wings!" She looked down on the floor and said with her voice shaking, "I'm sorry Allen, I didn't-" Then Allen lifted up her face and looked deeply into her eyes. Dena had seen Allen look into her eyes before, but never like this. It looked like he wanted to give something more than just his comforting blue eyes. He began to lean in a little. Dena began to move her face closer to his. They paused for a moment. Then they moved in a little closer…

Suddenly, Dena opened her eyes and woke up. She groaned in annoyance and murmured, "Just when it was getting to the good part…"

Meanwhile, the Zaibach Empire was preparing to attack their first kingdom, Fried. They were outside of their floating fortress, getting prepared to fly down from their dock "Okay everyone this is the first kingdom we are going to be taking over!" Jaquan said from inside of one of the guymelefs that the sorcerer Wielimer had built for him and all of his dragon slayers. "Who wants to do what?" Then Dalmacius walked up in his guymelef to Jaquan and said, "I would like to be the one to abduct some of the strong looking men and woman to join us at Zaibach." "Fine then." Jaquan said. Then Jaquan turned around behind him and looked at all of his slayers. "The rest of you, except for Yhukon, will burn and kill anything that gets in out way from conquering Zaibach! Go!! Moreoo!!" Everyone put on their invisible cloaks and flew down to Fried bellow. "Yhukon, I have a special mission for you…" Jaquan said evilly grinning at Yhukon.

Within a few hours, the kingdom of Fried was engulfed in flames. Dalmacius had grabbed 20 people who either surrendered to Zaibach or were uncoicnoius and looked like they were in good shape. Cebria, Chantra, and Opalina all stopped Fried's army and whoever else got in the way. Soon, they managed to uncover where the king of Asturia and Fried and everyone else who was royalty were hiding. "Here they are…" Cebria said. Suddenly, Chantra heard a little scream down bellow. She looked over and saw a little boy of about 6 years in age clinging onto his servant and bodyguard who protected him. "Hmm…you seem like a sweet one…" Chantra said, "and just my size too…" She began to reach her hand towards the boy, trying to grab him as if she were simply grabbing a little toy from its shelf. "NOOOO! GO AWAY!!" the boy said using his hands to hide him. "You will die if you lay a finger on that prince Chid!" The servant shouted putting himself in front of the young prince. Chantra simply slapped him out of the way. Chid then screamed for mercy while Chantra quickly grabbed him and brought him up to her face. "Hush boy!" Chantra said patting him gently on the back, "You're with Zaibach now…with me." Then she laughed with joy as she flew back to the Zaibach fortress to tell Wielmer that she had captured Prince Chid.

While Cebria fought off the guards, Dalmacius and Yhkon came behind her to help out a little. Dalmacius grabbed a few smart looking people like scholars, priests, magicians, and many others who looked just as smart. Meanwhile Yhkon was prepared to fulfill the mission Jaquan had given him, to kill the king. "Say farewell your majesty!" he said letting out a liquid sword right at the king and the two princesses who were right beside him. The king, now in total shock, quickly moved out of the way, hoping to avoid the attack. He didn't move out of the way in time; he was stabbed in his heart. He sighed his last breath and fell to the floor. "NOOO! FATHER!!" Milerna shouted as she felt for his pulse. Nothing, he was as cold as the night was. "Oh no…." Princess Eries cried putting her hands on her head. Suddenly Milerna saw the guymelef's hand being reached out toward the two princesses. "WE NEED TO RUN NOW SISTER!!" She screamed dragging her off with her. They didn't run for too long because the next thing they knew, they were stopped by another guymelef who jumped right in front of them. He grabbed them roughly and then gently said, "Welcome to Zaibach." Then he laughed an evil laugh as he began to fly back up to Zaibach.

Dena walked up to the top of the Crusade ship, with her torn shirt and all, and watched the beautiful sunrise all by herself. She had been up all night thinking about that dream she had, and many other things; like her wings. Where did her wings come from? She couldn't be a Draconian like Van had said because she was from Earth. She felt so confused. "I love my new wings, but why do I have them, or why did I get them? It just seems like my wings were a gift from the gods or something…and if I've had these wings forever, how come they didn't pop out until now…" Then she felt someone put his hand on her shoulder. She turned around, expecting to see Allen, but instead saw Van. "Oh it's you." Dena said putting her head down. "Hey, don't be so depressed." Van said lifting up her face towards his, "It's an honor to be part of the Dragon Clan…" "I can imagine," Dena said putting her head back down, "but still, how come I haven't discovered this until now?" "You know, " Van began, "My mother was a Draconian too and she has always told me, baby Draconians don't sprout their wings until they know the time is right." Dena then put her head up and looked at Van. "Yes, go on." She said. "She told me that some sprout their wings when they are only a few months old, while other don't sprout theirs until they are teenagers…like you are." Dena smiled. "She also said that some can't really tell when the time is right for them, so some never even sprout their wings on their own…until some type of Destiny is called upon them by the gods…" Then Van stopped for a moment and then continued, "or if they know the one they are destined for is in trouble…" then he paused again for a moment. The wind blew on their faces as the sun got up into the sky more and more. They both looked at the sun together, and Dena was waiting for him to continue at the same time. After a long moment Dena realized what he was trying to say. "Is he trying to say…?"

"Good morning King Van!" Merle said suddenly grabbing Van from behind. Van gasped startled but then said, "Hello there, silly Merle!" giving her a big hug. "Oh good morning Van!" Cerena said running towards Van. Then she grabbed him as well. "Oh Cerena you're a little late." Merle said hinting her to go away. "Oh it's never too late to give Van a hug in the morning." Cerena replied pretending not to know what Merle was trying to do. "Yes it is." Merle said getting annoyed. "No it's not." Cerena said in a not-so-pleasant tone. "Yes it is!" Merle said yelling. "No it's not!" Cerena yelled back. Dena and Van both sighed in annoyance as the two began to bicker.

Then someone else came up to the top of the Crusade ship. It was Allen. Allen saw his sister and Merle fighting. "GET OFF OF HIM NOW!" Merle said scratching Cerena across the face. "NO YOU!" Cerena said scratching her back with her nails. Then they got into a huge catfight, and yes it really was a catfight. "Hey stop it you two!" Allen said trying to break up the fight. He got in between them and one of his puffy sleeves was torn by Merle. Cerena gasped in shock as she realized what Merle had done to Allen's clothes. Then she realized she had gotten into a rather foolish fight and she got up and bowed down to Allen and said, "We are so sorry Allen, really we are. It'll never happen again, honest!" "Yeah we're really sorry…" Merle murmured insincerely. Cerena got mad and stomped on Merle's tail. Merle shrieked a loud "Reoarww!" like a cat when that happened. Then Merle hissed loudly at Cerena saying, "Thanks bitch! Look what you did to my tail!" "Please ladies stop!" Allen said separating the two, "Just…just go downstairs. Okay?" They both sighed as they both went downstairs, to their separate rooms.

"Thank you Allen." Van said sighing, falling on his back. "You're welcome." Allen said laughing a little. Then he turned and saw Dena, realizing she had been there the whole time. She was just sitting there, looking up at the morning sky and the Mystic Moon. As he was walking over to Dena he could hear her whisper to herself. "Is my mother a draconian as well?" she began, "Or is it my father? No…I hope to God it isn't him…he is so terrible for what he did to me…and is Allen really…" Allen stopped walking for a moment to hear what Dena was about to say about him. "No." she continued, "it's impossible…he's too perfect…" Allen smiled at Dena's remark. "Perfect? She thinks I'm perfect…" Allen thought to himself. "It's all so…" Suddenly Dena saw something bellow, walking with its hands on his chest. "Who…what is that?" Dena asked herself. Allen walked up to Dena and looked to where she was looking. "I think it's a person." Allen said. Dena looked towards her left seeing Allen. "Oh Allen…its you." she said blushing. Allen nodded. "Who do you think that is Allen?" Dena asked again pointing to the man again. "I…don't know…he's too far away…" Allen said squinting her eyes. Dena then had an idea. She sprouted out her wings and looked down. Then she jumped off and flew down. "Dena wait!" Allen said trying to grab her hand, "come back! It could be someone from Freid!" Then when he realized she was already out of reaching range he put his head in his hand and sighed worried.

When Dena got to where the man was, she saw that he was severely injured. She gasped at the sight of all of his blood dripping all over him. She grew sick to her stomach. "Oh god…" she said to herself, "this is even more blood than the movies…" Suddenly the man looked up towards Dena. He saw her, with her lovely wings, as his guardian angel. "Oh gods…take me to heaven…" he said as he passed out on Dena. Dena gasped as he covered her clothes with blood. "Oh my God! I need to get him help!" she said as soon as she snapped out of her shock. She quickly jumped up flying back to the Crusade ship.

"Allen!" Dena shouted as she got closer and closer to the top of the Crusade ship where he was waiting. Allen quickly realized she was safe after all. "Thank God…" Allen said walking quickly over towards Dena. "Allen! This man is bleeding! Very badly!" She said landing on the top of the ship. Allen then ran up to Dena, to find out what she was talking about. He gasped as he saw that she was right, he was deeply wounded and had blood gushing all over him. "We need to get him inside!" Allen said. "Van! Help us!" "Right!" Van said as he came right by Dena to help him up. They all picked him up and carried him inside the ship.

They had laid him on Allen's bed as Cerena, Merle, and Gaddas did the best they could to stop the bleeding on this man. "It looks bad…he might not make it…" Cerena said. "Something must have happened at Fried," Allen said concerned, "if he is bleeding this bad…something terrible must have happened…" Then he put his head down even more and said quietly with his voice shaking, "Chid…" Suddenly the wounded man awakened with a start, "Where is she?" "Who?" Merle asked confused. "The angel…the angel…I won't talk to anyone else except her! Because she was the one who saved me!" he said. "You have to talk to us!" Van said, "You must tell us what happened in Fried!" "I won't tell you!" the man said, "you are just demons!" Van sighed in annoyance and stomped his foot. Then Dena realized he was talking about her. The 'angel' who had saved him earlier was herself. Dena quickly popped out her wings and walked over to the man. She said to him, "I'm here, you're guardian angel…" everyone looked at Dena like she was crazy. "What is she doing?" Merle asked Cerena. "I have no idea…"

The man grabbed Dena and said, "Guardian angel! I'll tell you everything that happened before you take me to heaven!" "Err…right…" Dena said a little surprised. Then the man began to cry on Dena's shoulder. Dena gently stroked her hand through his hair as he cried. Allen smiled as he saw the way she gently comforted him. "She really is a angel…" Allen thought to himself. After a moment, the man got off of Dena and began, "It was terrible what happened! The place burned to the ground! Zaibach has resurrected!" Everyone gasped. Was it true? "Who is Zaibach?" Dena asked. "A powerful empire that captured the two princesses Milerna and Eries of Asturia and prince Chid of Freid!" "No it can't be!" Allen said in shock. "It's true you demon!" the man shouted angrily to Allen, "But of course you don't care because you're from hell!" "He is not!" Dena shouted all of a sudden, "He's from heaven and he's an angel! "Everyone looked at her kind of weird and she gasped and covered her mouth. She then blushed a bright fire engine red like she did in her dream. "Uhh…continue…" Dena said embarrassed. "Then they stole all of our children and teenagers!" the man continued, "and now Freid is claimed for Zaibach and they are on their way to other kingdoms! They are going to…to…" Then he gasped for air and sighed his last breath.

"What?" Dena asked, "What are they going to do??" Dena asked shaking the man. She realized he was dead. She sighed, feeling sorry for the man. "Oh he's an angel from heaven, my lil' angel!" Merle said mimicking Dena. Then Cerena and Merle cracked up when they saw Dena blushing the brightest crimson color ever. Dena laughed and smiled sarcastically and said, "er…you know I better go change out of these clothes…they are all bloody and disgusting…so uh…bye!" she quickly ran off when Cerena remarked, "Hey you better take Allen with you…he could help you!" then Merle and Cerena fell on the floor, rolling with laughter. Dena then squeaked in humiliation and ran for her life to her room. Meanwhile Allen was blushing a bright red too, and when Cerena and Merle got over laughing over Dena and saw Allen blushing, they went ballistic. They laughed so hard their stomachs ached and they cried. Allen sighed in embarrassment and went outside.

Hours later, after they had all put the dead solider of Freid to rest, Dena had gotten into one of Cerena dresses and Merle and Cerena were talking about Van in their lingerie. "King Van is such a hottie!" Merle squealed with joy closing her eyes and putting her two hands on her face. "Doesn't everyone know it?" Cerena replied. "I guess so!" Merle said, "And the best part is…he is ALL MINE!!" "Uh what do you mean all yours?" Cerena said getting ticked off. "Well everyone knows…" "Everyone knows Van is mine." Cerena said giving Merle a nasty look. "Oh don't get me started!" Then the two began to go back and forth. Throwing stupid insults and put downs at each other. Meanwhile, the entire time, Dena thought of nothing but Allen. "He is an angel isn't he?" Dena thought, "Maybe he's a Draconian just like me…" Then she stopped in her train of thought for a moment listening to Merle and Cerena bicker. "Well at least he could beat your brother any day Cerena!" "Dur! I know that stupid! Van is better." "No way," Dena thought aloud, "Allen is way better…" Then there was a silence. Dena just sat there and stared at the floor, lovingly thinking of Allen Schezar. "Oh Allen…" "Okay," Cerena said sitting next to Dena along with Merle, "Now I definitely think you have a thing for Allen. Especially since you've claimed that he's better than our Van!" "But he is and you know it." Dena said. "How much you wanna bet on that?" Merle said looking angrily at Dena. "Everything I've got. Even my wings." Cerena and Merle laughed at what Dena said. "You can't get rid of your wings silly!" Cerena giggled. "Yeah and why would you want to?" Merle said, "They make you way prettier! In fact, that's why I think Allen has a thing for you! Because of your wings!" Suddenly there was a silence. Merle looked at Dena, who looked very upset, and then at Cerena, who looked very pissed. Dena suddenly broke into tears and ran out of the room. "What?" Merle said to Cerena. Cerena rolled her eyes and then said, "You are such a idiotic cat girl." Then she went downstairs to look for Dena. Merle scratched her head then asked herself, "What did I say?"

Dena ran straight to the top on the Crusade ship and cried. She just knew that Merle had to be right. "My wings…" Dena said silently while crying, "If I didn't have them…he'd hate me…" "Who would hate you?" a voice behind her asked. Dena turned around and saw Allen. Embarrassed, Dena looked at the ground and sighed, "Oh…" "Who told you that?" Allen said sitting next to her, "Who would hate you if you didn't have your wings?" There was a silence. Dena looked at Allen. Allen looked at Dena. "Dena?" someone in the distance called out. Dena looked and saw that it was Cerena. Dena got up and ran towards Cerena. Then she looked at her with her tear filled eyes and said, "I'm sorry. I just got a little emotional…" "It's fine…" Cerena said, "I'm sure Merle has gone to bed with Van now…" Then she gave Dena a hug. "Go to sleep Dena, we have a big day tomorrow." "Okay." Dena said walking off. Before Dena climbed down the latter all the way, she heard Cerena and Allen talking. "Why is Dena all upset?" Allen asked concerned. "Oh something about Merle saying that the only reason why you're 'fond' of Dena is because of her wings…" "What?" Allen said, "What would give Merle that idea?" "Uh gee I don't know?" Cerena said sarcastically, "Like when you kissed Dena with her wings out and everything…" "Oh that…" Allen began, "I…I don't know. I guess I wanted to thank her for saving my life…" "Oh you did way more than that." Cerena said getting a serious tone, "You're trying to please her with your charm…." "It's not true." Allen said getting angry, "I'm just…just…Oh I don't know…I haven't felt this way about someone since Marlene…" "Why are you still referring to Marlene? Marlene is dead." Cerena said. "No really." Allen said getting really ticked off. "All I'm saying is that," Cerena continued, "All I'm saying is…oh forget it…I give up! Good night Allen." "Oh crap." Dena whispered running towards the window. She hopped in the window and quickly got into bed.
