Vision Of Escaflowne Fan Fiction ❯ Two souls ... two destinies ❯ Parents? ( Chapter 18 )
Hi! My fellow readers (witch I suppose don't exist!), here I am for another disclaimer, witch is becoming very boring. I don't own, and I think I will never own Escaflowne, or any of its characters, worlds or anything else that originally appeared or were referred in the show or mangas. But I own my original characters, story, plot and everything else. It's all mine! But please … please … review, that is so important.
Two souls … two destinies
Chapter 18: Parents?
#Previously: the previous chapter was a flashback about Kami and Van's childhood. Now we are going to see how Marta was born.#
[Note: the entire dialogue of this chapter was translated from Portuguese, cause in Portugal you speak Portuguese and not English!]
She felt her whole body break apart. She carefully and painfully opened her eyes, to met hers. - "You finally woke up?" - she was too dizzy to get up and run, because she didn't knew this women. But she looked peaceful and she didn't look like she would hurt her. After all, she was just a six years old girl. - "Don't fear! I'm here to help!" - the women smiled at her, and she felt a lot better. She closed her eyes again, and fell asleep, hoping that the pain would go away while she slept.
~*~*~
"Felling better?" - the kind women asked when she opened her eyes again, after a good sleep. She nodded and the women smiled. - "I'm a friend of your uncle Neshi! So, don't be afraid! We'll take care of you!" - Kamatary looked at her right, where a young man was, staring at her with a compassion look. He smiled too.
"Where … am I?" - the women sighed and exchanged looks with her husband before answering.
"You're on Earth!" - the women revealed.
"Earth?!" - the women smiled, noticing that she didn't knew what it was.
"The Mystic Moon, dear child!" - Kamatary stood astonished for a while and then closed her eyes, turning around and covering herself with the sheets, starting to cry.
"I wanna go home!" - the child said, between tears.
"You will my dear! Very soon!" - the women said, while cherishing her.
~*~*~
… Weeks flew away …
"So … I can go home?" - little Kami asked while helping Maria doing dinner. She was so excited to know that she could go back to her planet, family and friends.
"Yes, my dear! Whenever you want to!" - the child smiled widely to Maria, who had been like a mother to her in the last weeks.
"Kami! Come here please!" - she heard the call of Paulo, Maria's husband. She ran to the next room. - "Here!" - he picked up a picture and gave it to Kami. It was a child, a little older than Kami.
"Is this her?" - he nodded and smiled, getting up on his knees. - "Neshi's daughter!" - she looked amazed. - "Does he know of her existence?" - Paulo looked confused and he finally laugh.
"I don't know!" - Kami laugh too, and than looked at the picture once again.
"What's her name Paulo?" - once again he looked confused, and after thinking for a while he walked to the kitchen. Kami went right behind.
"Maria, what's the kid's name?" - Maria laugh.
"I don't remember! English names! I'll ask Jean when she calls next time!" - Kami nodded and then left to her room, where she stood several minutes just looking at the picture. The little girl had black hair and eyes and looked very nice. Kami couldn't wait to meet her.
~*~*~
"So Kami? Are you happy?" - Maria asked from the front seat of her husband's car.
They were on their way to the airport, where they would catch a plain to the USA.
"Yes! I'm so glade that I will meet my cousin!" - the two adults smiled one to each other. Even with all her happiness, Kami couldn't let being sad. She had this felling that something would go wrong. She pressed her pendent against her heart and preyed so that everything went right this time.
"Go a little slower Paulo! The road is not safe with all this rain!" - Maria said to his husband.
"I'm not going fast Maria! Calm down, ok?" - he said with a smile.
Kami was in another place, trying to figure out what was wrong. Why was she felling so strange today.
But she was taken away from her daydreaming, when she heard a strange noise and the yells of the ones who took care of her since she came to this planet.
"PAULO!" - she just remembers seeing the back of a truck and nothing more.
~*~*~
Once more she opened her eyes. - "She's awake!" - a doctor said.
"It's a miracle!" - a nurse said, while she checked her pulse.
"Where?" - the doctor smiled down at her.
"Don't speak my dear! You're still weak!" - she nodded and when the nurse asked her to open her mouth she did so. - "Say … What's your name my dear?" - the doctor asked, after the nurse checked her.
"My name … I don't remember!" - she tried to think, tried to remember … but nothing came to her mind.
"How old are you dear?" - again she didn't knew. He made several question, and she couldn't answer one.
She had lost her memory, and the doctors couldn't say when it was going to come back.
The first thing they told her, was that her name was Marta Costa and that she was six years old. They told her where se lived, and after some time, they finally told her that her parents where dead. At first she was shocked, then she started crying and the doctors didn't knew how to make her fell better.
One day, they took her to her parents' graveyard. There you could read Maria Pereira and Paulo Costa. Those where her parents. And she grew up knowing only that.
They took her to an orphanage, and she stood there. She hated it there, and above all she missed someone who could love her. She missed her parents.
As she had no memories, she imagined herself among a happy family. That was the way she would have wanted things to be. And now she wished to have a new family.
To her surprise, when she was eleven, a couple came over the orphanage and said that they wanted to adopt her. It took some time to do it, but finally she had a new family … a new home. She was so happy.
The first days were wonderful. Her foster parents were wonderful people and they gave her love. Or so it seemed.
~*~*~
Two weeks later:
Her foster mother had to go on a business trip. Marta wasn't worried, cause her father had been a good man till the date. Right!
But not everything is what it seems. She was only twelve, but it didn't matter to him.
In that same night, when she was almost asleep on her room, he came over.
At first, she thought he only wanted to give her goodnights, like he always did … but this time … things were different.
"What are you doing Daddy?" - she asked when he grabbed her pulses and pressed her hard against the bed.
"I gave you a home, and now you'll do exactly what I tell you!" - she was so chocked that she didn't even had the strength to fight against him.
From that day on, he came to her room every night. She never fought back, cause she thought that he was right. He gave her a home and a family, so she had to be a good daughter and do what he said her too. Every time she just stood like a rock, letting him do what he wanted.
She hated him from the bottom of her soul, and in certain way she hated her mother, for never noticing what happened right under her nose.
One day, Marta got so tired that she decided to end it all once and for all. But she came an stopped her. Any normal person would have died with the cut she had … but no … she didn't.
When she woke up the next morning, on the hospital bed, all she could do was cry. She was alive, and she knew that as soon as she got home, he would have her again, and again, and again.
All those years, she tried several times to kill herself. It never worked. She once bleed to death … but she didn't died. No doctor understood how she survived … but she did … and every time she would go back to that house … that bed … those awful nights, days … weeks … years.
She loved her mother now. She was kind and she loved her as a real daughter. Marta knew she loved that bastard, and so she never told her what he really was.
When she decided to leave, she cried, because she knew she would never see her mother again. But before she left, she did her revenge.
That night, she waited. He would come, as he always did. Finally the door cracked and he came in. Marta waited until he lifted her sheets up.
"Wake up you little bitch. Party time!" - she kicked him, when he was about to grab her once more.
"And who's the bitch?" - she picked her knife and cut his left arm, and then his face.
"You bitch!" - he almost yelled.
"AH! Don't yell, or she will hear you!" - Marta said while smiling widely. - "I'm leaving you bastard! And you're not going to fallow me, or I'll tell everyone what you've been doing to me during all these years!"
"You can't do that! You have no proves!" - he prepared to go and grab her, but she was holding something up. It was a videotape.
"See this? What do you think it has inside?" - his angered face said it all. - "I thought so! And remember, don't even think about coming after me!"
She grabbed her bag and went out of the room, leaving him with his own anger. As a matter of fact. The tape had nothing inside. She would never dare to tape that … disgusting scene. But it worked!
She caught a train to the North and there she decided to stay in Barcelos. No one would find her there!
~*~*~
Everything went perfectly normal during the next years. So calm! She loved her actual life. Away from all her bad memories. With the time, she learned to forget those awful moments. But, something was missing. She had no memories, no friends … no life.
She wanted that missing part … and she got it, when one day she found that weird stone in the Park.
It was the beginning of a new life. And she knew it!
AH! I said I wouldn't write about her life on Earth, but I couldn't hold myself. Hope you liked it!
Well that Barcelos thing … and Portugal, was kind of … to remind me of my country … and my city! Yeah, I'm from Barcelos. A little city on the North! But it's a cute city (Cute?).
Anyway, hope you enjoy this, and for your concern, I'm close to the end. More three of four chapters and I'm done. And don't even think you know how this is going to end. Cause you don't. I'm not a fluffy writer and I love to blow the whole thing at the end. So wait … and you'll see!
Also I'm pretending to do a sequel, you'll understand why on the last chapter.
Well see you next time folks!
