Surprisingly enough it had been Aya who caught Blaze before she hit the floor. He was perched in a half crouch holding on to her limp form. Not really certain what to do he shifted her slightly so he could hold on to her better. That was when he heard an unfamiliar voice behind him. He turned his head to find a tall man in an expensive suit standing behind him.

“Get your hands off of my wife. Now,” the man in the suit growled before pulling Blaze out of Aya's grasp.

“I only caught her before she hit the floor. It wasn't anything sexual, I can assure you.”

Tatsumi peered at him over the top of his glasses and then said sneeringly, “I would hope not. Since she has better at home.”

Aya stood up and glared at him briefly. The man glared back and Aya was almost knocked over by the force of it. If looks could kill he'd have been dead on the floor.

“Sei, stop it. He's just a baby,” the man who had just appeared next to the man in the suit said warningly. Then grinned at Aya. “Good start to the glare of doom, kid. But he's had more years to practice,” he said, jerking his head toward the other man.

“I don't care if he's a baby, Yutaka. No one puts their hands on our wife,” Tatsumi snarled.

Watari grinned apologetically at Aya. “At least not without you being inclined to break said hands. Oh, honestly, Sei, you should learn to relax more.”

Tatsumi glared at him over the rim of his glasses and Watari just smiled.

“I'm more worried about our wife at the moment than my need for relaxation. What happened,” Tatsumi demanded.

Ghost stepped forward and bowed deeply to him, remembering everything that Blaze had taught her concerning etiquette and cultural manners. “Tatsumi-sama,” she said respectfully, “We're not sure what happened to her. We were going over a few things for a mission and she just collapsed.”

Blaze's husbands exchanged a worried look. It wasn't like her to faint over nothing. Actually, it wasn't like her to faint over anything. She was the one who fought and disposed of the things that gave even the strongest of them nightmares. It was the first time either of them had ever seen her even remotely out of sorts about anything other than the time Watari had been in the hospital near dying again.

“Take her home, Sei,” Watari said. “I'll try to find out what's going on.”

“Are you certain you want me to leave, Yutaka?” Tatsumi asked, looking at the sheer number of assassins assembled in the place.

“Oh, really,” Watari said, rolling his eyes. “Nine of them are still alive and the other three are extremely loyal to Blaze. Come to notice it, two of the ones still alive are loyal to Blaze. I don't think I'll have any trouble with them.”

“You'd better not have any trouble with them or they'll deal with me,” Tatsumi growled.

“I think they'd be more worried about dealing with our wife. You know, I did manage to take care of myself for over twenty years before we got married, Sei,” Watari said. He kissed him and shooed him off. “Out. She needs to be somewhere comfortable when she comes to. She's probably going to be really annoyed with herself because I doubt this has ever happened to her before.”

“Make sure you're home soon.”

“Hai, hai. I will be. Now go.”

Tatsumi nodded and gave the room in general one last glare before the shadows wrapped around him and Blaze and they were gone.

Schuldig rolled backward from his perch on the arm of the couch and into Farf's lap. “Mein Gott! He's Brad on steroids!”

“With PMS,” Farf said grinning.

“And better taste in clothes.”

“Hell of a lot scarier,” Farf added.

“Definitely hotter.”

“If you two don't mind, I'm in the room,” Crawford said, sounding thoroughly annoyed and glaring at both of them.

“Sorry, Oracle, it just doesn't compare,” Farf said.

“I think I'm in love,” Schuldig said wistfully.

Watari grinned at the redhead. “Get in line, kid. He's definitely taken.”

“They're always taken, or completely straight, or just uncooperative,” Schuldig said with a heavy sigh, glancing at Crawford from underneath his lashes. “I was just scared of Goddess. Now I'm jealous as hell of her on top of it.”

“Speaking of my wife, what was going on before she fainted?”

Star gave him a very brief run down of the general statistics of the mission. She was careful to leave out the more intricate workings.

“You say she collapsed after seeing these markings,” Watari said frowning slightly. “May I see them, please?”

Star looked to her sister, who nodded. She brought the enhanced photo back up on screen again. Watari stared at it for a moment and every normally relaxed line of his body instantly went tense.

“Did she say anything about this before she went down?”

“Yes,” Ghost said. “She said if she told any of us to get out of wherever we happened to be that we were to do so immediately without question or argument.”

Watari nodded thoughtfully. “I think that would be best for any of you to do considering the circumstances and possible consequences.”

“What is it? It has to be something really bad for Blaze to send all of us out and not let us help,” Ghost said. “She's never done that before on any mission we've ever been on. At least none that I've ever been on. I don't know about any of the rest,” she said, looking around at the rest of the Red Shaman team.

Sunny, Skye and Star all shook their heads.

“She trained us and trusts us to do well in close as well as ranged combat. She trusts us to have her back in just about any situation. Even though she can still kick all of our asses at once,” Star said, smiling. “Why would she tell us to get out without question or argument, Boom?”

Watari opened his mouth to answer then snapped it shut again. “I can't answer that. She's the only one who knows what she wants done. But I'm guessing she said it because she knew you'd question and argue with her.”

“Yeah, probably.”

“You know what this symbol means, don't you,” Sunny said, bringing their attention back to the picture on the computer screen.

“Yes. I think I do,” Watari said slowly. “But it isn't my place to tell any of you. I don't know what she's told to whom or what, if anything, she wants you to know. Suffice it to say, she'll have to be the one to take care of this if that's what it comes down to,” he said, nodding toward the computer screen. “It's too dangerous for even those as well trained as you are to deal with.”

“We can't just let her go into this alone. Not if it's as dangerous as you say it could be,” Ghost said somewhat desperately.

“It's okay, Ghost,” he said giving the girl a brief squeeze. “Sei and I will back her as best we can. But we'll have to do it from a distance for the most part. If she finds out about it she'll kill us again.”

“You aren't going to tell us what that mark means, are you?” Skye said.

Watari shook his head. “There's a lot of background that goes with it and I only have a minute portion of the story.”

“Like what?” Star asked.

He gave her, then Sunny, Ghost and Skye and appraising look before saying slowly, “Do you know what she really is?”

The blank look on everyone's face gave him all the answer he needed. “Never mind then.”

“We know she's much more powerful than we are,” Skye said. “But we had assumed that it was because she's several thousand years old.”

“That's part of it, yes,” Watari said, wondering how much he should actually tell them.

“She isn't a normal shinigami,” Ghost said, suddenly knowing she was right about that thought. “I mean, she is, but she isn't. I'm not making any sense, am I.”

“You're making perfect sense. She is a shinigami but she's something . . . more as well,” Watari said gently.

“Whatever she recognized in that symbol is something only she has the strength to face. Isn't that right?” Ghost continued, turning if possible even paler than usual. “She's trying to protect all of us by saying we have to leave without argument. We could get caught in the crossfire of whatever she might have to do.”

“You're a very smart girl, Ghost. Look, I have to go check on her. I really can't tell you anything more than I already have. I know that she must have pulled you all together for a reason. Meaning she probably has plans for each of you.”

“Knowing Goddess, plans within plans,” Sunny said, smiling slightly.

“You're probably right. I need to go,” Watari said, turning slightly to phase out when Star caught him by the arm.

“Let us know how she is, Boom. We love her too you know.”

“I know you do and I will. Later,” he said and disappeared.

Skye turned to her sister. “Why do you insist on calling that man Boom?”

“Hell, I thought that was obvious. Whatever he gets near usually blows up.”

“So, what do we do now?” Omi spoke up.

“We do what she told us to. Work out plans,” Ghost said.
