Number eight. I want my life back. I refuse to die yet. Omi sat
across from me.
“How do I stop this?” I asked.
“We are still looking,” he said. I sneered at him. Of course he is.
He doesn't have an answer. No one does!
“So, now what?” I asked.
“We're still working on that,” Omi said. I snorted. Of course they
are.
“Nice,” I muttered. It's not his fault. But it's not helping.
I don't know how I found him. It happened. I guess misery loves
company or something like that. I took a sip of my bubble tea.
“How many months do we have left?” I asked. Omi counted up in his
head.
“Thirteen months?” he asked.
“Close to a year, huh?” I asked. “Heh.” I set down the cup. Why am
I here? Oh yeah, I don't want to fucking die. So annoying.
“So what do you know?” I asked.
“Come look at this,” Omi said. He turned his laptop to me. I leaned
in for a look.
“What is this?” I asked. I might as well have been staring at
childish scribbles. The numbers made my eyes hurt.
“Oh, here,” he said. Omi reached over and clicked the screen.
Another window popped up. Ah, much better. I scanned through the
text.
“What is this?” I asked.
“All of the known vampire clans,” Omi said. I gave him a strange
look.
“Vampire clans?” I asked. I read through more on the screen. What
the hell was this? I looked up at Omi.
“This is a joke, right?” I asked.
“No,” he said. He sounded so seriously.
“Damn,” I said. We're going to be killed by vampires? What was this
a horror fantasy manga? I rubbed my forehead and groaned.
“What the hell, man?” I asked.
“That isn't all,” Omi said. I stared up at him.
“There's more?” I asked. He sat down in his chair.
“How much time do you have?” he asked. I looked at him,
frowning.
“I don't have anywhere else to go,” I said, shrugging. Omi breathed
out.
“Oh, good,” he said.
“Is it, though?” I asked. Omi didn't say anything. I leaned back in
my chair and sighed. Sadly, this was only the beginning.
