The soreness was welcome. Although it was slightly discomforting, Omi didn't mind in the least. He slowly padded down the stairs in the early morning hours, his bare feet hardly making a sound against the hardwood floor. Upon reaching the landing, he stretched, wincing as he did so. A quick look around showed him that no one else was up yet. He entered the kitchen with a content grin on his face. Opening the refrigerator door, he took stock of its inventory. Wincing at the pitiful selection, he took out what he figured was a ripe pear. As he bit into it with relish, his eyes closed with contentment; the juice sliding down his lip and collecting on his chin.

Before he got the chance to lick it up, someone else did it for him. Startled by the action, Omi's eyes opened wide. His surprise quickly changed to happiness as he recognized the man before him. He smiled up sweetly at his boyfriend, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. The other man just yawned and reached for the fridge as Omi had done, cursing his lack of food selection.

"Morning, Ken-kun." Omi chirped as he took another bite from his piece of fruit. A mumble was his reply as Ken scoured through the half-way decent food available. He straightened from searching and gazed at the pear Omi held.

"That the last one?" he asked although he already knew the answer. Omi nodded happily while taking another bite.

"You....wouldn't want to share....would you?" Omi paused for a moment, his head tilted to the side in thought. Finishing off the bit of pear in his mouth, he grinned widely and shook his head.

"Nope. I was lucky to find this piece. I'm not giving it up just because you asked."

"Omi..." Ken nearly whined, "I need food. What's in there is *not* food. Com'on. Just a bite? After last night I need nourishment."

Ken had sidled up to Omi's side and whispered the last part in his ear as he nipped at the boy's neck. Omi gasped and leaned into the caresses. But still, he held firm to his answer.

"Sorry, Ken-kun. If you want it, you have to get it." Taking another bite of his breakfast, Omi missed the twinkle in Ken's eye.

"Alright. If that's what you want." Omi eeped as he was pressed against the counter. Ken's arms circled his waist pulling him up slightly, allowing Omi better access to Ken's mouth. As Omi felt his boyfriend's tongue slip into his mouth, he moaned and dropped the rest of the pear in favor of holding on to Ken's back. Their tongues clashed with fervor, in both passion and contest for the piece of fruit. A minute later, Ken pulled away from the blonde triumphantly chewing on the pear bit.

"No fair. You had an unfair advantage." Omi pouted as he fought against the blush rising to his cheeks. A movement behind Ken's shoulder caught his attention; blue eyes darted towards the source and widened in shock. Noticing Omi's expression, Ken turned around but saw nothing.

"What is it, Omi?" he asked while walking toward the doorway.

"N-nothing. It was nothing. Really, Ken-kun." Trying to persuade his lover not to investigate any further, Omi slipped his arms around Ken's waist and pulled himself up tight against the brunette's back, "Let's go back to bed."

'Get away from me.'

'Wait, please. About....what you saw. I...I want to...'

'Explain? What's to say? You're gay. You're gay and so is Ken. Just stay away from me.'

'Please! Wait!'

'Don't touch me! Don't even come near me again. You fucking queer.'

A soft sob.

'But....why? What's so wrong about it?'

'You're both men! It's unnatural and disgusting. How could you degrade yourself like that? I thought better of you, Omi.'

It was warm in the bed. It was Sunday so there was no work today. They didn't have to worry about getting up for shifts and could just take the time to laze around. Omi let a content sigh escape him as he burrowed deeper in the covers. A smile graced his face as he felt Ken mirror his actions. He assumed his boyfriend had fallen back asleep by the soft, even breathing caressing his back. Unconsciously, he stroked the arm that lay across his stomach, entwining their fingers when he reached Ken's hand.

"Ken....what would we do if they found out? Should we hide anymore? Why are we hiding this from them anyway? Don't they have a right to know, as our teammates?"

Ken shifted beside Omi, pulling him closer in the process. He placed a gentle kiss on the boy's neck before craning his head to get a better view of Omi.

"If they find out, they find out. We won't be able to keep it from them forever. But also, who knows how they'll react. Youji is completely straight and will probably take this the hardest. And Aya....well, it's always hard to tell what he's thinking. But as long as we keep doing our job and he's able to get money and visit his sister, I don't think he'll have a problem with it."

Omi thought about what Ken just told him for a few moments. Reluctantly, he nodded in agreement and again settled himself in his lover's arms. Unfortunately, Ken didn't give up so easily. He turned the smaller boy over so he could look him in the eye. Omi held his breath trying to calm himself down as Ken studied his face.

"What made you think of that, Omi? Is something wrong?" fear flickered across brown eyes for a brief moment, "You're not regretting anything, are you?"

Omi hastened to reassure Ken. He grabbed the athlete's shoulders and pulled Ken against him.

"No, of course not. It's just one of those 'what if' things. Please don't think that, Ken-kun. Please...." Ken smiled as Omi pleaded with him. He silenced the boy by capturing his lips in a short kiss.

'I told you not to come near me, you freak.'

'Please....don't do this now. Not on a mission.'

'If you try anything, I'll kill you.'

'Abyssinian! Look out!'

'Fuck!'

'Aya-kun! Are you alright? Aya-kun!'

'Don't touch me! I don't need some queer's help.'

'Aya-kun, you're hurt. You need my help....please...'

A thud as Omi fell.

'A-Aya-kun....'

"Ne, Omi? You alright? You've been kinda quiet lately." Ken placed his hands on the boy's shoulders as he sat at the computer. He felt Omi tense up slightly before relaxing, his eyes never leaving the screen.

"I'm fine, Ken-kun. Just a little tired is all." The sadness in his reply did no go unnoted by Ken. Turning the chair around, Ken grabbed Omi's shoulders and held him still.

"Omi," he started to reprimand his lover but was stopped by the sight of the black eye Omi had tried to hide, "Omi! What happened? How did you get this?"

One hand pulled the boy's face up so Ken could look at the bruise better. Omi's eyes widened and his breathing picked up slightly in panic.

"It...it was an accident. During the last mission....don't...don't worry about it. I'm fine...r-really."

"You were on surveillance with Aya. How did you manage to get in a fight while doing surveillance? And why didn't you say anything when we got back?"

Omi ducked his head to hide the tears that were beginning to show. He rubbed at his eyes fiercely, wincing when he touched his left one. Carefully, Ken lifted his head back up and knelt down so he was able to look his lover in the eye. His thumb brushed the tears away, minding the bruises.

"Omi? What happened?"

'Ehhh…really?! How sweet! Omi, is that true?' 'Aya-kun's so silent and mysterious!' 'All four?! Lucky!!'

'Ne, Omi? What's the matter? With so many girls after you one would think you could be a little happier.'

'Mou….Youji-kun. It's not so nice when....'

'Girls just don't interest him. He prefers taking it up the ass. Doesn't he Ken?'

Silence.

'Aya-kun....' 'What?!'

'We'd better go.' 'Homework to do, gotta go.' 'Ahhhh....goodbye.'

'Ken and Omi? Are...gay?'

'Fucking queers.'

Silence.

It was cold. Ken shifted around and found that the covers had been pulled off the bed. Looking around, he also saw that Omi was no longer in bed either. Yawning, Ken slumped to the floor and walked out of the room. As much as he wanted to sleep, he was worried about his boyfriend. Omi had been acting strange the past week. He was almost cold in his affection to Ken. The tapping of computer keys let him know where he could find his missing lover. Silently padding over to the mission room, Ken paused as he heard a quiet sob.

"Omi?" he asked softly. The typing quickly subsided as did the sobs. The light from the computer screen lit the room enough so Ken could make his way around without hitting anything. "Omi, what's wrong?"

"N-nothing, Ken-kun. I'm just doing some work. Why don't you go back to bed?" Ken frowned as Omi brushed him away, keeping his attention on the computer screen. Deciding he had had enough of Omi's attitude, Ken strode forward and pulled the blonde away from the computer. For a moment, Omi flailed, his eyes going wide in what Ken figured was fear and surprise. It was the fear that caused Ken to pause.

"Omi, what's going on? Why are you pushing me away? If you don't care about me, then just tell me. But don't pull me around." For a moment, Ken was truly afraid. Omi pulled away from him, turning his head and hugging his knees to his chest. In that moment, Ken felt his heart break. Then, without warning, Omi flung himself into Ken's arms, sobbing into his chest.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry." The small boy kept repeating the phrase over and over again. Ken made no attempt to stop him; just let his lover cry while he held Omi close, "Don't leave me. Please....I'm so sorry, Ken. I do love you. It's....with...."

The words couldn't make it past the lump in Omi's throat. But Ken didn't push the matter; he understood what Omi was trying to tell him all too well. Pulling away slightly, Ken lead the boy to one of the chairs in the room and sat down next to him. His arms had never breaking their hold. Seconds ticked by as they stayed like that. Seconds soon turned to minutes and still, neither had moved.

"I know, Omi." the silence was finally broken by Ken's voice. "But I'm not gonna let Aya, Youji or anyone tell me who I can or can't love. I didn't fall in love with you to make them happy or because I knew they'd agree with my decision. I love you because it is right. And just because they don't like it, I'm not gonna let that interfere with what's between us."

There were no more words between them. Omi nodded his head and clung more tightly to Ken, letting him know that he understood, and felt the same.

'So, how long have you two been together?'

'Why do you want to know?'

'Just curious. So?'

'Around a year.'

'Around? You mean you don't know? Figures. So, Omi, is Ken any good in bed?'

'Youji-kun!' 'Bastard!'

'Hey, hey. Calm down. I may like you Ken, but I'd rather not know about some things.'

'Does....does this mean that....that you are okay with this? Us, I mean?'

'I can't say that I agree with your decision, but there's nothing I can do about it. I may not like the idea of two men being together, but.....As long as I don't see anything, I think I can handle it.'

'......thank you....'

It was fairly slow in the shop. Ken looked around and saw that the only customer was being helped by Youji. As quietly and casually as he could, Ken walked back to the counter where Omi was working on an arrangement. Another quick glance around showed that they were pretty well concealed from prying eyes so Ken placed a quick kiss on his lover's cheek. A small smile was his reward as Omi glanced at him.

"How bout getting some dinner after work?" Ken asked lowly while fiddling with a flower. Omi snatched the toy from his hand and placed it in the pot.

"That sounds nice. Are there any daisies by you?" Searching the area around him, Ken shook his head. Omi pouted before brushing his hands on his apron, "I hope we have some in the greenhouse. This needs to be finished by this afternoon."

With that said, the blonde headed toward the back in search of the last flowers needed. The bell jingled merrily making Ken glance up only to see that the only customer had left. He riffled through the orders next to him while waiting for Omi to return.

"Freak! Watch where you're going!"

"I..I'm sorry, Aya-ku-"

A loud crash from the backroom drew both Ken and Youji's attention. Their eyes locked for a moment before both men sprinted to the scene. Aya was mercilessly kicking and beating a small form huddled in the corner. Reacting instantly, Ken threw himself between Aya and his lover. He felt the strength of Aya's kicks for a second before the man paused with the realization that he was no longer striking Omi. Ken took that moment to release his anger on the red head. The first punch landed with enough force to snap Aya's head to the side and was sure to give him a black eye; rivaling the one Ken was almost positive Aya had given to Omi.

It was an all-out brawl within seconds. Youji was torn between helping Omi and keeping his other teammates from killing each other. Fortunately, Omi wasn't one to stay down for long and was soon aiding Youji with stopping the fight. Only once Aya and Ken were on opposite sides of the room did they calm down. Youji had to physically hold the red head back while Omi was able to control Ken with a few looks.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Youji yelled at everybody yet nobody at the same time. Aya simply shrugged out of his captor's arms and headed back to the front of the shop, wiping at the trail of blood forming from his lip. A snarl from Ken's side of the room drew Youji's attention.

"Bastard. What makes you think you can do that? You don't have any right to attack someone like that; especially Omi! What's he done to you?" Rage was still burning in his dark eyes even though he didn't make a move. Omi seemed to be trying to talk some sense into Ken, but he either wasn't listening or chose to ignore it.

"Ken and Omi are no longer Weiss." the calm, smooth tone cut through the room like a knife. From the corner of his eye Youji saw both men named stiffen and turn to stare at Aya, "They've chosen to take the path of evil and have become the dark beasts that Weiss hunts. It is our job to stop their evil ways from spreading."

After his proclamation, a thick silence descended on the room. Youji felt his heart stop for a moment and knew that the lover's must have felt much, much worse. Finally finding his voice, Omi spoke.

"You...don't mean that. Do you, Aya-kun?" The unshed tears were thick in his voice and Youji had to admire the kid for remaining so calm. There was no answer.

'We have to leave Weiss.'

'Leaving is not an option; no matter what the circumstances. If it's a personal problem, take care that it doesn't intrude on your job. We don't care, we just want results.'

'But....we can't stay here. The problem can't be solved that easily. And it's beginning to affect how Weiss works. There's no solution but to leave.'

'I'm sure you're exaggerating.'

'We're not. Already, the team's falling apart. Aya-kun won't listen to instructions from us and Youji-kun is torn between everything. We've almost failed missions because of this; barely came out alive of some. Please....you have to help us.'

'.....What is the problem?'

'It's...well....'

'Aya's homophobic. He found out Omi and I are...together..and since has been giving us shit about it.'

'We've tried, Manx. But nothing works.'

Silence again.

A soft sigh.

'I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, do try to solve this. It is hard to find people to fill in a position in Weiss.'

Soft clacking then silence.

'We're nothing more than positions to them?'

"You ready, Omi?" The snapping of a suitcase and nod of a blonde head was his reply.

"Yeah, I think so. It's just hard to leave. It doesn't seem real." Ken gazed at Omi in a gentle way. Stepping up behind the smaller boy, Ken wrapped his arms around him and held him close. The touch was reassuring to Omi and he instinctively leaned back into it. It had been too long since they'd been able to have a moment alone.

"I wish we didn't have to leave either. But I don't like the thought of you being alone with Aya. He's already shown that he won't hesitate to hurt you. And working under this kind of pressure isn't good for us or for the team."

"I know." Omi sighed, turning around to look up at Ken, "But I'll still miss them."

Neither of them moved as the moments slid by. Finally breaking their contact, Omi bent down and picked up his bags, a sad smile on his face.

"Time to go."

It was late at night so no one else was up. But that was what they wanted; to leave unnoticed. There wouldn't have been any teary-eyed goodbyes or best wishes anyway, only animosity and tension between them. This way was much easier and safer. Moonlight guided them through the halls and rooms as they made their escape. Ken had just grabbed the door handle when a deep voice called out to them. Slowly, the escapees turned around and faced their adversary.

"Where are you going?" the stench of cigarette smoke and beer reached their noses. They were only partially eased that it was Youji that stopped them.

"We've been given a new assignment. We're leaving Weiss."

"Leaving Weiss?" the older man was clearly shocked, "Why?"

"It's not safe anymore." Surprisingly, it was Omi that had spoken up, "I know that you mean well, Youji-kun, but it's not safe for us. Plus, missions are being compromised. If our relationship is affecting the team this badly, it's better if we just leave."

"There's no convincing you otherwise, is there?" Although Youji had tried to sound light-hearted, the sadness couldn't be hidden from his voice. He pushed his sunglasses further up his nose and looked at Ken and Omi. Omi shook his head and continued.

"If it's not during a mission, it's something while we're home. Aya-kun's either left one of us during a mission, won't listen to me or just gives us shit. His...his....whatever it is...his hate of us is so strong that he's left us to die. I once found Ken-kun unconscious in a room. And when we're here, he either bullies us around or acts like we don't exist. We've tried dealing with it, Youji-kun. I'm sorry we have to leave like this, but it's better this way."

"Can't say that I've agreed with a lot of your decisions lately." Youji gave them a sad smile as he walked towards them, "But I can't stop you. I wish you luck."

A hand was extended toward the two boys. Ken eyed the proffered hand for a moment before reaching out and grabbing it. The brunette smiled slightly and grasped Youji's hand tighter for a second before letting it go. He placed his arm around Omi's shoulder as Youji ruffled the blonde hair. A good natured pout formed on Omi's lips as he fixed his hair.

"Youji-kun..." A soft chuckle floated back to the lover's as Youji turned and left the room.

"Keep in touch, all right? Just because we don't work together doesn't mean I don't want to hear from ya."

And with that, Ken and Omi were left alone again. Ken squeezed Omi's shoulder gently before letting go and opening the door.

"Com'on. Let's go."

'Hello, can we help you?'

'We were recently relocated here. We're your new teammates.'

'Really? Cool! This is great.'

'New teammates? Where did you come from?'

'Another group.'

'That's obvious. Why'd you leave?'

A soft cough.

Pause.

'Problems within the team.'

'What kind?'

'Just...problems.'

He felt like laughing, crying and shouting in joy at the same time. Propping himself up on one elbow, Omi watched as Ken moved about the room unpacking some of his bags. The smile wouldn't leave his face and he really didn't want it too. Jumping off the bed, Omi flung himself at his boyfriend. For once in many months they were truly alone. Not waiting for Ken's reaction, Omi pushed himself upward and caught Ken's lips in a deep kiss. Much to the blonde's delight, Ken responded eagerly. They tumbled onto the bed in a mess of arms and legs, quickly making up for all the lost moments of months before.

It was dark out and the bed was warm. Omi leaned back into Ken's embrace and took the time to reflect on their new life. The unit Kritiker had put them in had accepted them quite easily. The cover-up job was nice and not as hectic as the flower shop. Even their real job wasn't bad; just gathering information mainly. The best part was, they didn't have to share an apartment complex. So he and Ken were able to spend time together without sneaking around and worrying about the others finding out. They hadn't heard from Youji yet, but weren't too worried about it at the moment.

"Ken?" Omi asked softly, not expecting an answer.

"M'yea?" came the sleepy response.

"Nothing. Just, I love you." There was a slight pause.

"I love you too, Omi. Now get some sleep." Ken tucked his head against Omi's back and was soon fast asleep.

'Isn't it cute?'

'What?'

'The new guys...they're in love...'

'What did you say?'

'You mean...you haven't noticed?'

'No. What are you talking about?'

A pause.

'The new teammates, Ken and Omi...'

'What about them?'

Pause.

'They're a couple.'

'You're joking.'

'No.'

'They're gay?'

Pause.

'Yeah.'

Silence, then a door slamming.

'Disgusting. They're queers.'

AN: *clears throat* I really don't know what to put here. I wrote this to make a point really. Ever since my GW days, I've always had a problem with the fact that in the yaoi fangirl world, everyone was either gay or didn't have a problem with the gay couple(s). What inspired me to write this was a program I heard/watched on MTV. It was about how music was a major influence in people's lives. One of the people talking was a gay man saying how because of some songs people have acted out against him and other gay people. I know that I can't say I haven't or won't write fics where everyone is OK with yaoi, it's a lot easier to do and it's also kinda nice.

Anyway....to explain some things in my fic. First, why I chose Aya to be the homophobe; picking Youji would've been too easy. He comes off as *very* straight to me in the series and so that would incline someone to think he'd be very disturbed by a homosexual relationship. I can't say I apologize for making Aya that way either; I don't really like him in the first place.

Second, I had it pointed out to me that when Aya is talking about Ken and Omi becoming dark beasts...it was a little, over the top, I guess you could say, that he would kill them just because they're gay. This is supposed to be more symbolic than realistic. Aya believes that Ken and Omi being together is wrong and evil and thus relates them to the dark beasts that Weiss hunts. Does that make sense?

Third, the writing style. I wanted to try something new to push myself. If this is a little confusing, I'm sorry. Part of what I was trying to go for was ambiguity when Ken and Omi were talking with others but everything that deals with them is in more detail.

And now....the end of my rant. I'd like to thank Portia, Alicorn, Max Ikari, and Amy-chan for listening to me rant about this and helping me with parts of it. Max, sorry for torturing you so much with the Aya-bastardization ^_^ I'll make it up to you...promise! All right...I'm done now. This is the longest notes I've written *_*
