Weiss Kreuz Fan Fiction ❯ Roses ❯ Part 9 ( Chapter 9 )
Uh . . . about those kittens . . . . Remember that seven dollars I mentioned? Well, it's gone. I've got twenty-two cents, and apparently you have to //pay// for those cuddly little felines. Heh. Damn tempting anime stealing all my money . . . .
Now for the fun part, thanking my wonderful, spectacular, magnificent reviewers! And there's a new one! Thank you, Fluffybunnies. It's good to see that there are still people reading this thing.
Also, thank you Princess Yuy!! Sorry about the kitten. If I could, I would love to send you one. A it is, the only way to show my gratitude is to write. Hope it's enough.
Right, so now for possibly the final chapter before the epilogue.

Rayne was oblivious to everything but the little kitten she was currently finger-wrestling with. Lena stood over her for a full two minutes before the girl looked up at her, surprised. "Lena! Hey, how'd it go? Where's Aya?"
"It went fine, and Aya will be here shortly. Having fun with Sable?"
"Yeah, she's so adorable! I'm jealous. Why couldn't he have ever gotten me a kitten? I'll just have to drop a few hints for Christmas."
Sable yawned, curling her dainty little tongue, and strolled over to be admired by Lena, who lifted her onto her shoulder where the cat kneaded the material a bit, then curled up for a nice nap. "I think you exhausted her."
"A good work out never hurt anyone. So what's going to happen between you and my little brother? Do I get a little sister, too? How about a niece?"
"You're beginning to sound like every stereotypical mother I've seen on TV. It's scaring me. I don't think either of us are the marrying type, and any kids we have will be purely accidental and put up for adoption. If not aborted. (1)I don't think Weiss would have much use for a pregnant assassin."
"Not to mention, what kind of horrible father would Aya make? So just lovers, huh? I think Yohji's gonna be jealous. I have my suspicions about that guy harboring secret feelings for you."
"More like, he wants what he can't have. He'll get over it. And as for Aya and me, what do you call a relationship when you're involved but there's no sex?"
"Over, that's what. Why would you hold out on him? Did he do something stupid again?"
Lena sighed and dropped down into her chair with as little turbulence for Sable as possible. "No, it's just . . . I . . . I've never done it before. He was the one that broke it off a minute ago. I kill people for a living, but I'm nervous about sex." She really was pathetic.
"Hey, every girl fears her first time. Too many horror stories from each other. Don't worry about it though, Aya would never hurt you."
Rayne's reassurance helped her a little, but she still wasn't sure about it. She was fine with broken bones, stitches, and any other type of injury involved with the public portions of her body, but this was a totally different type of pain they were talking about. A type that she'd never experienced before and had nothing to compare to.
"Who knew he had it in him to pull back when he's been dreaming about you for the past year. I'm a little impressed."
Lena almost knocked the kitten from her shoulder when she jerked her head back to face the girl. "A year?! You mean he's liked me the entire time?"
She smirked and shrugged. "Well, he doesn't know it, but yeah. He always talked about you when we met up, and I had to pry him away to other subjects. It was only in the past week that he realized how much he liked you."
How long had she liked him, she wondered. Thinking back, she decided she had been lost from the first second she'd laid eyes on him. (2) There was no denying he was gorgeous, but his indifferent coldness had appealed to her nature, too. Not that she was about to tell anyone that.
Aya's door opened and closed and they both turned around to see him walking out, his red hair damp and dripping a little, and dressed in a pair of pale khakis that hung almost as low as some of Yohji's pants, and a plain black, sleeveless shirt with a high collar. Before today, Lena would have admitted in a small portion of her mind that she found him attractive. Now, she didn't bother to hide the admiration in her eyes as she ran them over his muscular arms, narrow hips, or long legs.
She was rewarded with the smallest of smiles when her eyes finally returned to his face. She'd never seen him smile. It made him even more beautiful, which she hadn't thought possible.
"Well, hello, Aya. Take a nice, cold shower, did we?" Rayne teased, snickering.
"Why are you still here?" Lena hadn't realized how different his voice had been when they'd been alone together in his bedroom. It was nothing like the cold, unwelcome one he used now.
"Is that any way to treat your dear sister? The same sister that helped you land this desirable young woman here? Besides, I'm hungry and it's almost dinner time. Let's go out. My treat."
Aya didn't answer, just turned to Lena to let her know the decision was hers. She was usually pretty lax with her schedule on Sunday since she rarely had anything specific to do. As long as they got back by ten, she had no problem with it. "I don't mind. Where are we going?"
"Chewy's?"
"You really are cheap. Benihana's."
"I'm not a walking ATM machine. Olive Garden."
"We just ate there two weeks ago. Zio's."
"I hate the waiters there. Carabba's."
"Deal."
"Good. You like Italian, Lena?"
She gave up on trying to work out what had just happened. She didn't go to very many restaurants, but apparently they did. "Uh, sure. Should we wait for one of the guys to get home to let them know we're going?"
"They'll figure it out."
"Give me a second to get changed. Here." The kitten was transferred from her shoulder to Aya's arms before he could refuse. Then she was racing up the stairs two at a time."

"I have to hand it to you, Aya. You've got good taste."
" . . . ."
"Aya?"
"I can't believe I stopped. That should have been beyond even //my// control." It could have been disastrous if he hadn't, but he still couldn't believe how close he'd been and still stopped.
"Miraculous things happen when the need is strong enough. Little old grannies lift cars off their grand-kiddies, dogs pull drowning babies from rivers, young men curb their desire when around their virgin dream-girls."
"She told you, huh?" He finally turned his gaze away from the stairs, idly petting the soft kitten in his arms. It had already settled down against his chest and didn't look as if it would tolerate being disturbed again. Not much it could do about it, though.
"Yeah, and I gave the proper reassurance, promised her you wouldn't hurt her, and told her all would work out."
He glared at her. "You told her I wouldn't hurt her? It's inevitable that I hurt her on her first time!"
The glare was returned. "Only a guy would misinterpret that. It means you would never //intentionally// hurt her any more than the inevitable amount, but that doesn't have quite the same ring to it. Everything is taken care of, now quit bitching and be a gentleman for once."
The sound of foot steps on the stairs distracted him from his staring contest with his sister, and he looked over to see Lena run down the stairs, dressed in form-fitting black jeans that flared a bit at her knees, black boots, and a tight gray, long-sleeved shirt with silver snaps holding the upper half of the shirt closed. Only the bottom-two were actually closed, leaving plenty of milky skin exposed without showing too much. Once on the tile, she snatched up her black coat from the banister and reached back to pull it on, causing the bottom of the shirt to slide up enough to show a little of her flat stomach.
He wondered if she'd always had this affect on him and he'd only been able to control it better, or if it was a new thing that came with the knowledge that she was his. Probably a mixture of both. She smiled at them both as she walked over, taking Sable from him to set on the old blanket she'd spread out over the couch.
Her long black hair had been released from its ponytail, but now she was gathering it into three sections, her eyes closed in concentration and a slight frown marring her features. Without thinking, he moved behind her, took the silky locks from her grasp, and nimbly braided it into a long rope that hung down to her tailbone.
Lena caught up the finished product and examined it with appreciation. "Thanks, I hate braiding it but it's the only way it doesn't get tangled out in the wind. You're proving to have all sorts of useful talents."
"Taught him everything he knows," Rayne said proudly, tugging on a lock of scarlet hair and eliciting a very real sounding growl from her brother. "Down boy."
They left the house as a group as soon as he had grabbed his trench coat from the closet, but paused out in the biting wind in front of the three vehicles. The motorcycle was definitely out considering the dropping temperature, but both Lena and Rayne had only two passenger sports cars.
"Aya and I can follow you in my car," Lena suggested to the older girl.
"Sounds good, meet you there."

(1) Hm, where'd that controversial comment come from? No one freak out and start ranting about the evils of baby-killing please. All complaints will fall on deaf ears.
(2) -Shudders beneath the sticky weight of sap- Sorry for the horrible cliché.
Ok, here's the thing. I've got the rest of this story written out, but I can't come up with anything for a chapter off them at the restaurant. It'll work without it, but I feel it's lacking something. So if any of my lovely reviewers would like to make any suggestions or offer an inspiration, now would be the time to repay me for the wonderful entertainment I've provided you with.
If you are a //true// fan you'll help me out here. E-mails are preferred here so that it's not given away to the others if I end up writing it. MnemosyneSKS@hotmail.com. Thanks!
