Chapter Three: Fiona and the Deception
Nagi sighed as he sat on the cold metal table. This is boring. Why did we have to come? Other than Kerina's attack, nothing has happened.
Lynn and her team were working to get things ready for Fiona, since Fiona was telekinetic she could attack without actually moving.
If her power is stronger than mine that I might not be able to hold her back like with Kerina. Nagi thought as he looked around. Hopefully Schuldich will be able to read her; otherwise she'll have no problem escaping.
Nagi's eyes landed on Farfarello, who was currently sitting in a corner. He's been unusually calm all day. Like he's waiting for something to happen.
"Schuldich," Nagi said calmly, not taking his eyes off Farfarello.
"What?"
"Why is Farfarello so calm? It's unnerving."
"I'm not sure. I think it has something to do with that Fiona girl. She's confusing him, or something like that." Schuldich looked at Farfarello, "All his thoughts are jumbled together, all I could make out was that they're about Fiona."
"We should just focus on getting this mission over with." Brad said as he came back into the room after talking to Lynn. "Lynn said that they want to revive Rianna tomorrow, so if we're lucky we'll be home by tomorrow night."
A few minutes later Alex and Natasha brought Fiona in, followed by Lynn. Fiona was quickly strapped to the bed and attached the heart monitor. Yet the beeping of the heart monitor was not heard.
Alex quickly checked the heart monitor to make sure everything was all right. Yet the monitor still didn't beep. He took out his stethoscope and tried to find a heart beat."
"Nothing." He said turning towards Lynn, "She's dead."
"Great." Lynn sighed walking out of the room. Alex and Natasha looked at each other then followed Lynn out.
They could hear Lynn giving orders to prepare the surgical room of an autopsy. Schuldich left the room to wander amongst the tanks; Nagi went with him, both hoping to relieve some of their boredom. Brad went to talk to Lynn, leaving Farfarello alone in the room.
"What do you think caused her to die?" Brad asked Lynn as she sat down in a chair next to the control consuls.
"She could have died for any number of reasons." Lynn sighed, reaching up to rub her temples. "Personally I think she killed her self. Her files said she didn't take well to being captured. It would have been simple for her to use her power to dislocate a heart valve."
Schuldich sighed as he came to a stop in front of the girl named Yolanda. "So you can read minds. I never met another telepathic. And I guess I'll never meet you. They won't risk releasing you."
Nagi came upon Natasha standing in front of Kerina's tank, holding neko-Jason.
"How? How could she do this." Natasha said stroking neko-Jason's back. "She was never able to do this before. Poor Jason, my love."
"Perhaps they can find a way to change him back." Nagi offered, trying to keep her hopes up.
"No, they won't. He holds no importance to them."
***In the back room***
Farfarello slowly got off the floor and made his way over to Fiona. As he looked down at her a voice whispered in his mind, unbind her.
The voice had been in his head all day. Asking him if he wanted to really hurt god. Of course he agreed. The voice told him to wait. She would tell him what he had to do, and when.
When Lynn started talking about Fiona She told him that Fiona wanted to meet him. That Fiona hated god just as much as he did.
Farfarello slowly started to undo Fiona's bonds and once done unhooked her from the heart monitor. After finishing he just looked down at her and his gaze was meet by two bright amber gold eyes.
***Back in tank room***
Nagi was turning away from Natasha when the building started to shake. Screams were heard, and Nagi was thrown to the floor in shock.
The tremors only lasted a few moments and once they were over Nagi looked up to see Natasha sprawled on the floor, neko-Jason softly rubbing against her.
"You ok." Schuldich asked walking up to them.
"Yeah." Nagi said pushing himself off the floor. "What was that, it couldn't have been an earth quake."
"Whatever it was I just hope it doesn't happen again." Natasha said as she picked herself up. Neko-Jason mewed as they made their way towards the back, finding Brad and Lynn already recovered from the ordeal.
"I think it would be best if I waited a while before doing the autopsy. In the mead while shy don't you go get dinner and get some sleep, I want to get up early and release Rianna." Lynn said as she headed out of the room.
Schuldich went into the back room to get Farfarello, finding him sitting in the corner where they had left him.
"Come on Farf, let's get you something to eat." Schuldich said as he pulled Farfarello off the floor and out the door. All the while never noticing the slight rise and fall of Fiona's chest, or that she was no longer bound.
They went to the kitchen where Merna had prepared dinner for them. Afterwards they made their way to their rooms. Schuldich waited as Brad locked Farfarello up, Nagi going into his room to think and eventually sleep.
"I got a bad feeling." Schuldich said as Brad locked Farfarello's door. "Farf has been too calm, and then the mysterious tremors. Have you had any premonitions?"
"None." Brad said as he walked towards his room. "This whole thing is strange and messed up."
"You know what's really messed up? Me going to sleep at seven o'clock." Schuldich said as he went into his room.
***9:00 p.m., Surgical room***
"Gene is everything sit up for the autopsy."
"Yes doctor Lynn, we're all prepared."
"Ok then let's start" Lynn said as she made her way towards Fiona.
She picked up a scalpel and went to make an incision in Fiona's chest, but found her hand frozen an inch away from the pale skin. As she stared at her hand she saw the subtle rise and fall of Fiona's chest.
She jerked her head up and met with Fiona's bright amber gold eyes, and a cruel smile. She backed away quickly feeling an invisible hand wrap around her throat.
"Silly doctor." Fiona said as she got off the table. "If you had really done your homework then you would have known that I can stop my heart at will, then kick it back up again later. Oh and by the way I thought you'd like to know before you die, that even though our bodies were asleep, our minds were wide awake. Well enough talk you don't really need all this information where you're going."
And with a wave of her hand Fiona used her power to rip Lynn's heart from her body. Then she set off to return to the tank room to free her friends.
***Half hour later***
Schuldich shot up out of bed as a high pitched scream echoed down the halls and into his room.
He quickly got up and exited his room; he got to the hall at the same time as Brad and Nagi. Soon a second scream was heard.
"Get Farfarello." Brad said as he turned to head down the corridor. "Come Nagi."
Schuldich sighed as he turned to Farfarello's door; he quickly unlocked the door and opened it. "Wake up Farf…. Ok where are you" He had opened the door onto thin air.
How'd he get out? /Brad we have a problem./ Schuldich said as he made his way down the corridor /Farfarello's escaped. Yet I'm not sure how. The door was still locked, and there was no way he could have unlocked it from the inside. I can't sense his mind either. It's like he just disappeared./
/Great./ Was Brad's reply. /We'll just have to keep an eye out for any sign of him then./
Brad was relaying to Nagi what Schuldich had told him when he stopped suddenly at a door getting a strange feeling.
Slowly he opened the door and was shocked by what he saw. The whole room was covered in blood and lying in the middle of the floor was Natasha and Jason (no longer neko), both looked like wild animals had attacked them.
As Brad prepared to turn around he heard a growl come from behind him. Soon after he received a sharp blow to the back of his head, and just before he blacked out he heard a soft voice say, "Silly boy. Never let your guard down."
Schuldich sighed in irritation as he realized he didn't know where he was. As he walked down the corridor he quickly became aware that he was heading towards the tank room.
Perhaps I'll find someone in hear who knows what's going on, or at least knows how to get around this place.
He opened the door and went inside. "Hello. Is anyone here?" He stopped and looked at the tanks, "They're empty. Ok I'm leaving."
Yet when he turned around he came face to face with the bright green eyes of Yolanda. Shit. Was his last thought before he blacked out.
