Chapter Twenty- Changes
One month had passed since Amon’s death. Much had changed among The STN-J’s ranks. Much has also changed in their very lives as well. The STN-J got a new chief of operations now.Even though Nagira was not even a member of the STN, he was asked to assume the roll of the leader by the heads of SOLOMON itself, and the Headquarters of the STN too. Nagira accepted without a moment’s hesitation, stating that he was taking the post out of deep respect for his fallen brother.
Miho became the lead Agent, and she seemed to take the title seriously... having very big shoes to fill. Haruto and Dojima seemed to had grown up a great deal since things, each becoming as perfect of an Hunter as possible. Michael still was the computer whiz he always was... but he seemed different. He worked harder, but seemed more somber through his duties.
One thing came out of Amon’s death, If it was ever possible... The people of the STN seemed closer to one another. But with that comfort, came shock and pain.
Soon after the funeral of Amon, Robin simply had vanished. She did leave a little note for everyone laying on Karasuma’s desk. She read it to the others that had gathered, the note just simply wrote in Robin’s artistic hand.
“ My friends. I have decided to leave the STN again, to find my place in the world without the one person I truly loved. After Amon’s death, I realized that he would want me to be alive and happy... but right now, All I feel is a great sadness and a gaping hole in my heart. I have decided that I will return to Italy, to search my heart for what all of this means for me, and to search myself too. I love you all, and always will fondly remember each and ever one of you.” It was ended, simply signed “ Robin.”
Karasuma read the not over again, then looked at their new Chief Nagira. She had reads that not over many times over the next weeks and days, yet she seemed to be compelled to reread it again.
“ You think we will ever see Robin ever again?” The lady hunter asked, looking at the man.
“ Maybe... in time.” Said the tall man, looking at the lady hunter. He just frowned and shrugged a little “ To be honest...I am not too sure of anything right now. Especially if we will ever again see Robin.”
“ I hope we do.” Haruto said, coming in to the conversation.
“ Me too.” Chimed up Yurika, her face showing his untold deep sadness. “ I miss Robin.. And I miss Amon as well.
“ We all are hoping that, I guess.” Michael said, his face barren of any feelings other than sadness
The new leader stood up and looked at his Hunters, taking a second to regard each one of them individually.. He just sighed and shook his head.
“ I can understand why she has gone back... I hope that she finds exactly what she needs.” He said, his face showing the emotionality of the moment. “ I do miss her, and I have to say I miss my brother as well...but he is in peace.”
“ Yeah!” Said the others, as one.
The Chief turned and took a seat at his desk, seeing the mountains of paperwork that was there for him
“ I don’t mean to break into being the Chief here, yet I am the head guy here now...” He started. “ I think we all need to get back to work here... we have that report of a witch type slaying near the docks... and there has been a witch watch issued by SOLOMON as well.”
“ Haruto and I will head to the docks then...” Miho said, starting to walk away
“ The police are on scene?” Asked Haruto, hearing the incident report.
“ They are waiting until we arrive.” Nagira said.” Better get out there... before the cops somehow screw something up for us.”
“ Right!” The lad said, turning around, as Miho was already three steps away from him.
Haruto followed his partner and quickly got into the elevator, as he complained about her walking too fast. Miho just seemed to ignore Haruto’s prattle, almost like a certain Hunter would have done if he was alive. The doors closed and the Hunters were finally heading out to the scene of their latest incident.
Yurika returned to her work station beside Michael, who was already typing away. Each just fell back into their work, as Raven’s Flat seemed to hold the somber tone that had been there for so long. Some might have said that there was something missing... in fact there were two things missing from the place.
Nagira returned to the work piled on his desk as his assistant, Hattori, brought him a coffee. The thin and nervous looking man bowed, as he set the cup on the desk with great reverence..
“ Careful when you take a drink, sir.. It’s still very hot.” Hattori said.
“ Thank you.” Nagira said, eyeing the man.
“ Would you need anything else, sir.” The man asked.
“ Not at the moment..” He gruffly said, his tone seemed to indicate he was annoyed with the man.
“ Ye, sir...” Hattori said, then he simply disappeared.
He was glad that the man had finally disappeared, he was becoming a pain in the ass. The man always seemed to be the royal suck up in the office, and now that Nagira was the boss... it was being directed at him.. This certainly irritated Nagira, but the lackey did come with his new job.
Nagira was thinking about if he had to hire someone else, hopefully a new assistant would not as big of a brown-noser as Hattori was. Brown nosers were his pet peeve, he thought to himself.... but for right now, he could do nothing.
Nagira sat sipping his coffee, his mind off somewhere other than his work. He snuffed, as he thought of his brother, then of the young Crafter. He bowed his head, as the feeling of sadness returned to him. Leaning back, he found himself praying for the two of them for a moment, a simple prayer for inner peace. He finished his prayer, and seemed to be at a little calmer and picked up a file on his desk.
Sighing, he returned to his tasks he had. These days, nothing felt right.
THE END.
