Chapter 4 - Realization

Slowly opening his eyes, Amon felt the full force of his hangover from hell. The light from the sun streaming in through the window across the room hurt his eyes, making it like needles stabbing him straight into his brain. He grimaced, discovering his tongue felt like he had spent the entire night licking a carpet. To top off his after drinking hurt, his head felt like it weighted twenty pound or more, and that was added to the soreness of his wounds this morning. In short, Amon could be described as feeling like crap.

He layed there, and realized that he had made it back to the hotel room in one piece. He fought to remember just how he had managed that one, considering the amount of whisky he had poured into his body, from what the fog in his brain could figure. Through it all, something was nagging at him, something that he should be remembering.

Amon suddenly realized what it was, and he found himself shot to full alertness. The memory of what had happened the night before flooded back to him, making his heart sink in his chest. He shook his head in disgust with himself, as he remembered himself touching the young girl, groping would be a better term for it though.

"What in the fucking hell was I doing?" He asked himself, as the images of what he did scared him. " I did that to Robin?"

He sat up on the edge of the bed, and looked over to his young charge's bed in hope that she would be awake. Deep within his heart, he was hoping that the young girl would be awake, his mind hitting on just what had transpired.

Robin was still asleep, her blankets were wrapped completely around her, held tightly by one of her hands that stuck out of the top of the covers. He wanted to wake her up so badly, overwhelmingly wanting to apologize for his behavior, but he did not want to wake her.

His mind hit on the truth of the matter right there. After his actions, did he have the right to awaken her?

" She must have been scared, to curl up like that" He said to himself, seeing how the girl had cocooned herself. " Some protector I have turned out to be!"

He just snuffed, as the whole sorry truth came into his head. He had wanted to touch her like that for the longest of time, he admitted in is head. Even to just tell her what he needed, had been just sitting there inside of himself. Now that sad truth was he had let himself get out of control last night.

" I let myself do that" He realized. Now he felt a all consuming outrage towards himself, he fully hated himself for laying his hands on her. " I should have never stopped to have those goddamned drinks!"

Deciding to just let her sleep, he figured he could just head down to the coffee shop on the main floor. He hoped that she would be awake when he returned, then he could find a way to apologize to her and hopefully she was not too scared of him. He never wanted to hurt her, but he knew he had last night.

" Idiot!" was the phrase that rang through his mind.

He hurried and left the room as silently as he could, wanting just to hid in his thoughts for a while. Closing the door with only a whisper of a sound, he headed down top the coffee shop to be with his thoughts. Never in his life had he felt like this... Never in his life had he done something like this either. What he did, was inexcusable at best. Damn himself!

The girl sat up after the man was gone and looked at the door. The girl had not been asleep, on feinting it in her scared and confused state She sighed, as she knew somehow, he had remembered what he had done. She had been laying there for the longest time, unable to sleep. She was still trying to make sense of her feelings, feelings that were making absolutely no sense at all.

She had been scared when the man had groped her like he did, but the feelings she had after, and even in the midst of her fear, confused her. Through the fear, there was that rush of need, she simply wanted the man to touch her more. She bowed her head, and her mind wandered back in time.

She found herself thinking of all the times she had watched the man with fascination, feeling a tug inside of herself every time she did. She had always felt embarrassed by the feeling of wanting the man, but still it was always there when he was near. The feelings were simple to describe as a deep yearning, admittedly, she had been longing for the man for the longest time.

All she could do sometimes, was to crave for the man to simply wrap his arms around her, pull her into him and hold her tightly. She wanted to feel his body against hers, to smell that heavy manly odor that she had caught many times even when he was simply standing beside her conferring with her on a case. Last night was different, he had done that and much more, and to her shock and against her simple upbringing back in Tuscany, she liked it. It had stirred something up inside of her, she was unsure of just what though. All she knew was that she was changed in a big way.

She closed her eyes, her mind trying to piece together a puzzle together she did not know even existed. The image of Amon was right there, shining like a star in a darkened sky., making the piecing even harder to do.

With a small gasp, the young girl snapped out of her thoughts. It was now so clear to her, and she had never actually thought of it before. She pondered the six word question She put to herself.

" Am I in love with Amon?" She questioned herself, but deep inside all of the confusion, her heart had already answered it. She smiled to herself, as her mind told her the answer.

With the covers still wrapping her up, Robin sat up and pondered on this new revelation. Her heart pounded wildly and she felt giddy inside while a warm feeling flowed over her entire body. The explosion of the truth was realized, and it was the truth that had been laying there in herself all the time. She did love the man with the deep set eyes.

" I do love him!" Her heart was clear on it.

After awhile of thinking in the silence of her surroundings, Robin heard something near the room door out in he hallway. She looked up, wondering if someone was out in the hall.

The door opened and Amon crept into the room with semi-stealth. The chestnut blond locked girl looked up and saw the man's eyes landing on her. She blushed, as realized that she was still sitting there on the bed, with the blankets wrapped around her still naked form.

" I see that... your awake." He said, walking over with a tall Styrofoam cup in each hand.

The man handed her one of the cups, the aroma of strong coffee wafted up, as he smoothly sat down beside her

" Robin..." He started, his eye holding her. " I want to apologize to you about last night." He lowered his head a little. " I acted like a pig in heat towards you."

Robin looked deep into the man's gaze, seeing the regret and his deep shame at what he had done. She wanted to tell him that it was alright, and that she loved him, but could only stare at the man.

" I know." She finally got out, her cheeks becoming a little more redder as she looked at him.

" I won't let myself get that way any more." He said, an air of conviction in his voice. " How could you trust me after I come back drunk and do that to you."

Robin leaned over and put her head on his shoulder, feeling the tautness of his muscular form under her cheek.

" Amon... I do trust you." She said, her voice as soft as a Lilly petal. " I know that you would never hurt me, that is a truth I hold in me. How you quickly let go of me told me that!"

" Even after what I... had done?" He asked, surprised at the extent of the young lass's ability to forgive so fully. " I had even hunted you in the past, The fact that I touched you in places I should not have... and you still trust me?"

The girl looked up into his face, a soft smile of assurance flowed over her to the man's stare. She nodded, never lifting her head off of his shoulder, yet peeking up into his long angular face.

" I am still here.. and I have put my life into your hands.." She said, her voice soft but very strong. " That says it all for me, but I will make it clearer still for you ... Amon, I do trust you."

A look of relief flooded over the man's rugged face, and he even cracked a small hint of a smile. He just nodded, and let the girl continue to rest her head on him. Feeling her head on his shoulder, he realized just how much it felt strangely right.

Robin saw the crack of his smile and giggled, as the sight of his smile made her feel better. She still wanted to tell him what she felt exploding inside of her, but decided on doing that later. It did not feel like the right time to her, plus she was afraid that he would reject her feelings on principal. She just decided to just enjoy the shoulder she literally was leaning on.

They sat in silence together, smiling and sipping the coffee. Amon just stayed right where he was, filling in the young girl on the news that the informant had told him the evening before. It was like the night before had never even happened for the both of them.

The awkwardness had simply vanished, and the two returned to their talk about their situation, an air of togetherness was back for the both of them. What ever happens now, fate, luck or whatever, they simply needed one another.
