Chapter Two- No sense

Robin got to the bridge, after dodging through heavy morning traffic on her Vespa like a racer on the speedway. She was an excellent driver, yet She was still a little preoccupied with her morning.

Robin was flagged down by Amon, as she turned the corner onto the bridge from the on-ramp. She looked at the man, and found that she was blushing very easily. She just could not get the image out of her head, as she fantasy had been so vivid. She got a hold of herself, as the man approached her.
“ The witch is somewhere near here.” He said, as the girl parked her scooter. He shoved to her a print out of a man’s picture and turned. “ Get off your Vespa and follow me.”

The girl nodded, and did as she was asked. He seemed to be in a very bad mood for some reason, or someone. His body language seemed to say he was perturbed with something, but his eyes as he looked at her was saying something else... something she could not read. She just followed, knowing not to question the tall hunter on any of it, while studying the image on the sheet of paper given to her.

Haruto was standing on the bridge, surveying the roadway carefully. Amon came up to the youth.
“ Any sign of him?” He asked sharply.
“ Michael is tracking him as we speak...” The youth said. “ His car was found abandoned over there, but there is no sign of him anywhere.”

The long haired hunter snuffed, obviously not liking the situation. He whirled around and looked at the young craft girl.
“ We will search the other end of this bridge, and some of the buildings that are there.” He commanded, then walking off.

Robin hurried her step, trying to keep pace with the man. He seemed to be in a very bad mood, as he did not even wait for her to get in step. Robin sighed, as she fantasy was for right now, gone like a balloon hit with a needle.

Two very long hours later, the STN members returned to the offices, unable to find this witch anywhere. The three were silent as they came in, all seemed to be in one unusual mood as a whole.

Robin went to her desk and plopped down. She looked tired, as she waited for the others to explain what was next. Amon did not say, but walked off into the back area of the STN headquarters, his mood was more along the lines of being positively foul.

Robin looked at Haruto with a questioning look.
“Amon seems to be in a bad mood.” Robin spoke her observations to the young man.
“ He’s been like that since he arrived on the bridge, and even longer if you ask me.” The youth informed.. “Something is eating him.”

The young girl did not fully understand just what was eating at Amon. She wanted to ask a few more questions, but knew that there would be no answers coming from the youth, or Amon himself. She just busied herself looking up the information on the witch they had been hunting, unsure of anything at that moment.

The day just went on, no one really speaking as they tried to track down the witch through information on the STN witch registry. There was not much to go on other than the witch’s name and some places where he has been known to frequent. All of the information added up to basically nothing.

Robin rubbed the sleep from her eyes, after many hours of researching on the computer. She looked around herself, and discovered that there was no one in the office at that moment.

The computer lab was dead silent, as even Michael was not at his usual space. The room was dark, except for the girl’s desk lamp that cut the office gloom to a small extent. The place was as silent as a mausoleum, the stillness hanging like a shroud around the tawny haired young lass.

Seeing no reason to stay any longer, Robin stood from her chair and threw on her long coat, reading for the half an hour scooter drive home. She yawned, sleep was a good idea right then, but maybe something to eat before that.

Robin stepped out of the elevator at the parking level. Here eyes acclimating to the dimness of the underground, she blinked a few times as she stepped onto the concrete of the parking lot. Finding her Vespa keys she had in the depths of her coat pocket, she made her way to where her beloved scooter was parked.

As she neared her scooter, she saw Amon standing next to his car, half leaning on it with his back. Robin had not seen him since arriving at the offices hours ago, and seeing him storm off without a single word to anyone, She had just thought he had disappeared like he always did.

Amon seemed to be looking at something he held in his hand very intently, because he seemed to be unaware of the young hunter’s approach. Robin found that particularly odd, as she could never have approached him so easily without him knowing just where she was.

When she got only a few feet away, the man looked up.
“ Robin...” He said, in a half surprised way, looking right at the young girl.
“ I thought you had left already.” Robin said softly, looking at the man.
“ Just came back for something.” He said, his voice inflection not changing with each word. “ You just going home?”
“ Yes.” She nodded, as her fantasy flashed in her mind again. She blushed and willed it to stop. “ I am going to rest for the rest of the evening.”

The man turned to get into his car. He stuffed whatever it was he was looking at in his coat’s inside breast pocket and hurriedly entered his car. He brought the car to life and backed out of his stall rather quickly. In a flash he was gone, giving a single wave to Robin as he headed for the ramp leading to the street level. He was gone in a blink of the eye.

Robin thought the man was acting very strange, noting that he had been very quick to leave. She wondered if he was mad at her for some reason, yet for the life of her, she did not know what she could have done. She just sighed and continued to her Vespa which was parked on the other side of Amon’s parking stall, knowing what ever it was, she would hear about it come morning.

Something caught Robins eye, that was laying in Amon’s space. She looked at it, and recognized it was a small picture. She knelt down and picked it up, thinking that she would return it to the man first thing in the morning, he had obviously never noticed he had dropped it in the first place.

The young girl gasped, as she looked at the picture. It was a picture of her. By the way it looked to her, she thought it had been taken about a week or so after she had joined the STN-J. She stared at her own image on the shiny paper, wondering just why the man had a picture of her in his possession. This was odder than how the man had been acting, then she realized that he had been acting that way for a few weeks now. This was more of a perplexing situation than any of the hunts she had been on.

Sticking the picture in her pocket, she went and climbed on her Vespa. She started the engine up and she was off to the ramp herself, yet her mind was trying to figure out the reason that Amon had a picture of her. This made completely no sense at all, she thought to herself as she drove.

Touko was home when Robin arrived at the flat she shared with the dark haired beauty. Leaving her shoes at the door, they young hunter went into the main area of the flat.

The older lady was sitting at the kitchen table as Robin came through the entrance way. The young crafter noted that the lady was all dressed up, as if she was going out for the night.
“ Robin...” Said the woman with a smile. “ You guys must have worked rather late, didn’t you?”
“ It was a long day, Touko.” Responded Robin after a second. She looked at the woman and smiled. “ Are you going out tonight? You look very beautiful.”

The woman smiled largely, as if the young girl had hit the nail on the head in her observation.
“ I have a date tonight.” She said. “ He should be here any moment.”
“ With Amon?” Robin asked shyly.
“ No, Robin-chan.” She replied. “ Amon and I broke off our relationship many weeks ago now.”

Robin was surprised to here that from the woman. Perhaps that was why Amon has been acting odder than usual, she surmised from it.
“ I am sorry to here that.” She said in a comforting way to Touko.
“ No need to... it was a decision that has ended up to being the best thing for me.” Blushed the woman a little. “ After Amon broke up with me, I met a accountant named Fukuyama Hiro and I think this one is a keeper.”
“ Amon broke up with you?” Robin commented, shocked at the admission by her roommate
“ Yes, he did.” The dark haired lady said. “ He did not say why, but I really think that he had his heart go to someone else.”

The doorbell rang before robin could ask the woman anything more. Touko stood up and hurried to the door like a schoolgirl.
“ I will be home fairly late so I will see you in the morning, I guess.” She said. “ I left some sushi I had picked up earlier for you.”
“ Have a good time.” Said Robin, as the woman exited, and met a very strikingly good looking young man on the other side. The door closed, ant the woman was gone.

Robin just went over to the couch and sat down, retrieving the remote from the coffee table. She st the channel, then puled out the picture she had found from her coat as she was taking it off.

The girl studied the picture closely, still in shock on finding it had been in Amon’s possession. She wondered about the picture, and had a flash in her mind... was she the one that Amon had left Touko for? Could that ever be the truth? Was she just daydreaming and this does not seem like what it was.

All of these things bounced around the young girl’s head, nothing in any of it making sense to her. She just leaned into the couch as she sat down and sighed. She knew that she was probably jumping to conclusions, Amon would never bee interested in her.

That thought made her sad, so she put the picture back into her coat and grabbed the remote from the couch cushion where she had layed it down. She just sat for the rest of the night with the television, not letting herself think about it too much. She also was feeling a little ashamed about her morning’s reaction to the dream she had, that also was pushed far from her thoughts.
