The Beginning

Kiba knelt down by the steam and cupped two hands full of water and drank deeply. He turned his gaze back to his pack as he finished his drink. He got up and sat under and old tree watching everyone eat what food they could find. His pack wasn't really a pack considering there were only five of them. Blue he only counted because she was a little wolf, but Hige cared very much for her and there wasn't much he could do.

 

Kiba jumped up and stuffed his hands in his pocket and started to walk to a quieter place. He had to keep Cheza safe from anything. He knew very well that Darcia wanted her for his own uses, and he wasn't going to allow that. He was looked on for guidance to Paradise, and he was going to make sure that was going to happen even if it took killing people who stood in his way.

 

 

“Will you shut up already? I had to listen to your wining all the way here. I told you once before just sit down and shut your mouth….can you do that Runt?” Tsume looked at the youngster who put his head down in shame.

 

“Aw come on Tsume I wasn't being that bad now was I?” Toboe cocked his head to the side and gave Tsume the look of innocents.

 

“Whatever you say Runt …you are still bothering so just eat this and be good…alright?” Tsume threw Toboe a bag of chips to keep him quiet.

 

The fire was hot and they really had no place to stay. Hige sat beside Cheza. “Hey Cheza why are you been so quiet over here?” Hige asked the flower maiden while scratching his head and smiling down at her. Cheza looked at him and blinked a couple times before looking down at her fingers, which were tightly clenched together.

 

“This one feels that Kiba is not so happy. Did this one do anything wrong Hige?” Cheza looked up at Hige with tears in her eyes.

 

“What… No Cheza Kiba is just …Kiba…he likes his own space. There is nothing that you could have done to make him this way. It's alright Cheza. You did nothing wrong.” Hige shook his head while staring down at the little Pink haired girl. “Are you ok Cheza?” Hige asked her once again.

 

“Do you know what this one wants some times Hige? This one dreams of being human.” She looked up at Hige and smiled.

 

“Really…wow I didn't think …” Hige noticed she started to frown.

 

“This one wishes to make Kiba happy, and no wither away and die, but to be with Kiba forever.” Cheza paused and situated herself on the hard ground. “This one…doesn't want to leave Kiba or the wolves …ever.” Cheza said and then turned to Hige and hugged him. Cheza reached to Hige who was not lying on the ground as a wolf, and was stroking his furry ears. “This one while stay Hige…for Kiba…and you all.” Cheza whispered and then started to hum to him softly.

Kiba sat on a rock and watched the full moon in the night sky. It was beautiful to watch it in the sky while it was surrounded by tiny stars. He looked down in the water at his reflection. He looked away quickly as he thought back to Cheza. She was feeling horrible. He could feel it. Ever since he started being distant from everyone he noticed Cheza wasn't as active. He felt horrible not asking her if she was even ok. He glanced over his shoulder to see Cheza rubber Hige's ears. Kiba growled low in his throat as he noticed Hige got her to smile. He felt his angry grow when he heard her humming for the first time in weeks. Kiba stood up and rushed over to the two. He started to run at Hige as fast as his four legs could carry him. He barked and snarled at Hige. Hige jumped up and backed away.

 

 

“What the problem…are you ok Kiba?” Hige put up his hands in defense. Nothing was said only more growling for Kiba.

 

“Whoa, Kiba…chill out…what going on? Hige what the hell did you do?” Tsume asked while frowning at Hige.

 

“Nothing…I was just laying there and he came over he and challenged me…I did nothing.” Hige stammered. He looked over at Blue whose eyes were wide and pleading to him not to do anything rash. Toboe backed up and stood beside Blue while moving his head from Tsume to Hige to Kiba.

 

“Kiba…what is the problem?” Hige asked him once again. Kiba shook his fur and snarled and walked over to Cheza who reached out for him to clam him down. Kiba lie beside her and set his head on his paws to watch the others. Hige backed away and jogged to Tsume. Tsume smacked him on the back of the head. “What was that all about?” He snarled at him once again.

“Nothing like I said before. I was lying by Cheza and he came over acting as if I do something wrong…” Hige looked at Tsume who shook his head.

 

“You know Kiba is very protective about Cheza that's why he was acting like that…I knew it.” Tsume let out a harsh chuckle and ran his hand through his short hair.

 

“Yea…so…it's not like I was doing anything wrong here.” Hige said while rubbing the back of his head.

 

“No you don't get it…Kiba has been very distant lately and he noticed that Cheza was un happy, and to see you over there making her happy, and not him…well you know that would make him upset.” Tsume said while resting an arm on his bent leg.

 

“Wow I never knew you read so much into Kiba… I never would have guessed.” Hige said in a humorous tone. Tsume laughed and grabbed some meat and chewed slowly.
