The Mysterious She-wolf

Chapter Three: Toboe is a POT. POT= Pissed Off Teen

She sighed deeply as the relaxing feeling of the water closed over her. This feels so good. She reveled in the silence as well. I sure hope that stupid hentai doesn't come over here. Hopefully Kiba will keep him busy. She came up to the surface and threw her head back sending a gush of water onto the rocks behind her. She kicked off the submerged part of these rocks and swam into the middle of the small lake. I'm beginning to wonder about these wolves… I'm not conceited or anything but it's their season... And not a single one of them has made a move on me… Hige has a mate but none of the others do… it's weird. She took a deep breath and dove down to the bottom of the lake.

They had been wondering through the woods for some time now and neither of them seemed to care, let alone notice how long they'd been gone. They could just glimpse each other through the trees. Toboe smiled. I think I like this game. They kept teasing each other whenever a clearing came between them. One of them would innocently walk closer (usually Toboe) and the other one would casually walk away, and then the clearing would be gone and they simply shot glances at each other again. Tsume smiled. This kid keeps getting more and more interesting. Tsume stopped suddenly and Toboe did so as well. He took a step forward and Toboe mirrored him. Tsume laughed. He took a step closer to the pup, and Toboe took a step closer to him. He took another four steps, Toboe did the same. Now they were about 3 feet away from each other, both were struggling to keep a straight face.
They woodland they were traveling through was very mossy and damp, and all the trees seemed to go on forever into the sky. The ground was very uneven and there were ruts all over it. It seemed as If the further they went into the forest the darker and danker it became. The only place that the sun really touched to forest floor was in the massive clearings that came along now and again. Both of the wolves took a few steps closer and were now close enough that they were side by side. Both were struggling even more to keep a straight face. Toboe couldn't take it anymore and began to snigger softly. Tsume also started to laugh. Neither could handle it anymore and they both were cracking-up. Toboe almost snorted.
Tsume broke away and walked over to a patch of sun; he flopped down spread eagle and beckoned Toboe to join him. Toboe grinned and ran over to the older wolf. He got down on all fours when he was about two feet away and crawled next to Tsume. Tsume's right arm was bent under his head as a pillow and his left was extended. Toboe crawled as close as he could and laid back into Tsume's arm, resting against his warm body. Toboe leaned his head on Tsume's shoulder and Tsume wrapped his arm around the pup's shoulder, holding him there. Toboe shut his eyes and sighed deeply, the stream of air tickled Tsume's neck.
“I really like you, Tsume.” Toboe murmured into the older wolf's shoulder. Tsume's eyes opened wide. “It's weird. I've never felt this way before about anyone.”
“It's just the season. Don't worry about it. That feeling will be gone when the season is over.”
Toboe opened his eyes and sat up so he could look at Tsume.
“But what if I don't want it to go away…?” he asked. “I'll feel empty without it.”
“Empty?”
Toboe closed his eyes and laid his head on Tsume's chest; he draped his left arm over Tsume's body and pulled at a piece of grass.
“Yes. Empty. Alone.” He pulled the piece of grass out, “I like this feeling.”
“What feeling exactly?”
Toboe sighed sleepily. Now I can finally tell him how I've been feeling all a long. I can tell him what's been keeping me awake at night. This is it. I hope he feels the same way I do. Because if he doesn't, I don't know what I'll do… Here goes everything… He took a deep breath.
“Knowing that there's always someone you can cuddle with, “ Toboe nuzzled Tsume's chest, “Knowing there's someone you can trust with everything, knowing that there's someone you would die for.” Toboe leaned forward and planted an unexpected kiss on Tsume's forehead. “I think that I love you.”
Tsume's heart stopped. “I think that I love you… I love you…” Toboe laid his head back down and sighed again.
“I like the feeling of a warm body beneath me too.”
“Do you really love me?” asked Tsume, his voice shaking slightly. Why am I so nervous?
“Yes, I do.”
Tsume swallowed hard. No one has ever said this to me before.
“Tsume?” asked Toboe. Tsume was speechless.
“Hmm?”
“Do you love me too?” Tsume's breath caught in his throat. Do I love him? I don't know… Do I? Oh moon help me! He's so innocent… so loving… if I say no he'd be so hurt… but I don't know if I can love…
“I… I… don't know…” he paused, thinking of what to say so Toboe wouldn't be hurt. “I don't know if I can love.” He whispered. Toboe swallowed hard. “Do you think I could love?”
“Yes.” His voice cracked. Tsume could tell he was holding back tears. Oh man. He expressed his feelings and I can't return them. This is exactly what you don't want to happen. Way to go Tsume.
“I mean… I've always been cold and distant and such a hard-ass… I don't know what would happen if I didn't act like that all the time.”
“You don't act cold or like a hard-ass around me.” Murmured Toboe.
“I suppose it's because I… I don't feel like I'm being judged around you.” Tsume sighed.
“You're not being judged around them either.” He whispered, “All they want is for you to open up too. To come out of your shell, to love.”
Toboe sat up and kissed Tsume deeply. Tears that had been clinging to his lashes fell freely onto to Tsume's face. Toboe pulled away before Tsume could respond and ran off towards the camp. Tsume sat up and looked after him. The salty taste of Toboe's tears seeped into the corners of his mouth. A single pair of tears leaked out of his own eyes. He shook his head violently, as if to shake the feeling that the world was crashing down around him. Shit. Now look what I've done. I do love him! But how can I really love him when I'm two different beings? I could never be the mate he would want. Dammit all. DAMMIT! Why am I so fucking afraid?
Toboe didn't know how long he'd been running, more like sprinting. He didn't really care. His limbs were aching from the strain. He must have run at least 5 miles by now, doing to the first three at about break-neck speed. Every time he sensed that he was slowing down he sped up again to make sure that he could feel the burning, shooting pains in his legs. Everything was a blur. All he saw was the ground a head of him, all he felt was the pain. The pain from rejection and from the running. At some point it hurt so badly that he couldn't feel it anymore. That's when he collapsed. And he wept. He punched the ground in anger. He screamed.
“I'm so naïve! Why the hell did I ever think he'd feel the same way!!!” he howled in anger, “I am so fucking STUPID!!! FUCKING STUPID!!!” he yelled.

----xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx----

She shot up out of the water, she'd heard Toboe howling.
“Shit! What did that kid do?!”
She scrambled out of the water, grabbed her clothes and sprinted to where Hige and Kiba were. She nearly fainted when she got there. Her eyes were a wide as dinner plates. Holy fucking hell!!! HE'S PRACTICALLY MOUNTING HIM!!! HOLY SHIT!! I THOUGHT THEY WERE STRAIGHT!!! HOLY CRAP!! AND HIGE HAS A MATE!!! THE HORNY BASTARD! HENTAI!!!!!
“I hope I'm not interrupting anything.” She snarled. There was a sinister grin on her face. “Oh man this'll be good for blackmailing you.”
Hige and Kiba both jumped about three feet in the air.
“THIS IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!” yelled Hige.
“And what exactly do you think I think it looks like?” she mused. “And I thought you were STRAIGHT. Man… so I take it Blue is really a guy? Or transvestite maybe?”
Hige turned absolutely crimson.
“I AM NOT GAY.”
Tsume walked into the camp. All three of them jumped at the sight of him.
“WELL... I'M NOT!!!” he sputtered.
Tsume's eyebrows went up.
“Umm… I think I'll just go…” he started to back away.
“NO!!! YOU HAVE TO KNOW THAT I AM NOT GAY!”
Hige was still blushing furiously but Kiba seemed absolutely calm and collected. He stood up and walked over to stand next to a puzzled Tsume and an amused Zsollune. Zsollune was fighting a battle with an impending laughing fit. Zso was sniggering softly and struggling to keep a straight face. Hige's display was not helping. Suddenly she could take it anymore and burst into a violent fit of laughter. She was nearly rolling of the ground laughing.
“Oh god… hilarious… hahahhaha…it hurts... can't breathe…” her eyes were tearing up. “Just stop… stop before I pull a muscle…”
Hige's jaw dropped.
“You think it's funny?”
He was met with more laughing.
“YOU. ARE. A. BITCH.” Silence.
She cocked her head to the side,
“What did you just call me?”
“B-I-T-C-H. Bitch.” He smirked, “If you can call me a hentai, then I can call you a bitch, Bitch.”
Her jaw dropped.
“FINE THEN!”
Just then Toboe came into view. He was limping horribly and his hands were bleeding. His face was streaked with tears and his hair was a mess. He collapsed when he reached the top of the hill.
“Toboe!” cried Tsume. He ran over to where he collapsed and pulled the pup into his lap. “Toboe! Talk to me! Say something!” he slapped the pup's cheeks gently. He picked up Toboe's limp form and sprinted down to the lake. He splashed water onto the pup's tear-streaked face and hoped for a reaction. Zsollune walked up behind Tsume and handed him her bandanna to wash off Toboe's face. She was amazed to see Tsume acting with such care. He's such an asshole all the time, why is he acting like this?
Toboe's eyes fluttered open to see a concerned Tsume above him. He was almost relived when he remembered what had happened earlier. He sat up and pushed the older wolf away, hard. Tsume landed on his back.
“LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE, YOU FUCKING BASTARD! YOU ARE A FUCKING ASS-HOLE!” he yelled. “DON'T EVEN FUCKING THINK ABOUT PRETENDING YOU FUCKING CARE BECAUSE I WILL FUCKING KILL YOUR SORRY ASS IF YOU DO!”
Hige, Kiba, and Zsollune's jaws dropped. None of them had ever heard such harsh language from the pup.
“Toboe… just calm down…” whispered Tsume as he stood up.
“NO! I WILL NOT CALM DOWN! I BEARED MY FUCKING SOUL TO YOU AND ALL YOU COULD SAY WAS I CAN'T, I'M TOO AFRAID TO GIVE UP MY FUCKING TOUGH GUY IMAGE! DO YOU KNOW WHAT I SAY TO THAT?” Toboe ran at him and pushed hard, knocking him off balance. Tsume let him hit him.
“No Toboe, I don't…” replied Tsume still keeping his calm demeanor.
“FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU!” He pushed Tsume again and this time with enough force to push him onto his back. Toboe ran over and straddled him across the stomach; he punched him hard in the face. Tsume's face stung slightly afterwards. Toboe kept hitting him over and over in a blind fury. Kiba and Hige tried to go down there and stop him several times but Zsollune held them back.
“You're not going to accomplish anything while he's angry. Wait until he tires out.”
“He's going to break Tsume's face!” exclaimed Hige.
“No he won't.” replied Kiba, “He's not strong enough.”
Just then Toboe's fist came down hard on Tsume's jaw. Toboe could hear the bones crunching.
“Why… WHY? Why didn't you say you loved me!” he sobbed. “I showed you my fucking soul… “He wept. “Why Tsume… WHY?” his body shuddered as a wave of sorrow passed trough him. He could see blood on his knuckles. He could see a purple bruise on Tsume's gorgeous face. And he stopped. He burst into tears and collapsed on top of the older wolf. He let his tears flow freely, making Tsume's shirt damp. “I'm sorry… “Tsume reached up with his left hand and ran his fingers through Toboe's rust-colored locks, massaging his scalp. They lay there like that for about 30 minutes and Toboe was still shaking.
“Calm down. “ He whispered. Pain shot through him, blood oozed down his throat. Toboe had really done some damage. His jaw was broken.
“I hurt you.” Whimpered Toboe.
“'Tis but a scratch.” Murmured Tsume. He tried to speak without moving his jaw. A jolt of agony coursed thorough his body with every word. He could feel the blood slowly filling up his mouth. He almost gagged.
“I shouldn't have hit you.”
“ 'salright. I deserved it.” The coppery taste of his own blood coated his throat as he swallowed, painting his insides red.
“No. No you didn't.”
“Yes I did. I lied to you.” He began to feel sick. He needed to sit up and stop the blood from sliding down his throat; he wasn't even trying to swallow it.
Tsume sat up slowly, cradling the younger wolf in his arms. Toboe draped his arms over Tsume's shoulders and rested his head on Tsume's left shoulder. He was too weak wrap his legs around Tsume's hips to hold himself up so Tsume gripped both of his tender legs and held Toboe up by the thighs. Tsume walked to where the pup slept and laid him down carefully, cradling his head in his hands. He also made sure none of his blood dripped onto him. Tsume could sense a fever blazing on the young wolf's flesh. He took Zsollune's damp bandanna and pressed it to Toboe's forehead, wiping away the sweat and cooling his burning skin.
“Zsollune, find something that will hold water, fill it and bring it here.” Blood oozed out of his mouth and he spat, wincing.
Zsollune simply nodded and ran off. She came back a short time later with a piece of wood that was warped into the shape of a shallow bowl. He brought the water to his lips and drank a mouthful of it to wash the blood out of his mouth. Then Tsume dipped the bandanna into the cool water and laid it over the pup's forehead. He gently brought Toboe's hand to his lips and began to lick the wounds inflicted on his knuckles and palm. Toboe winced at the pain. Tsume cringed inwardly as pain shot through him. He was moving his mouth too much, but Toboe's wounds had to be cleaned. When Tsume was finished with his hands he washed the dried blood and dirt off Toboe's arms with the bandanna. Toboe groaned. His hands hurt even more than they had before now that Tsume and irritated them his tongue.
“Just rest Toboe. You'll be fine in the morning.” He whispered into the young wolf's ear. “Sweet dreams.” He brushed a piece of Toboe's crimson hair behind his ear and felt that the fever was still there. Tsume could tell that the others were drilling holes in the back of his head with their eyes. It was Hige who spoke first.
“I don't mean to be rude or anything but…” he paused.
“He never does…” muttered Kiba.
“What in gods' name was that about?”
Tsume turned around to face them. Their eyes widened. Tsume looked bad. One whole side of his face was purple and black. His jaw line was distorted horribly and there was blood dripping down his chin. He wiped it off with the back of his hand, wincing as he applied pressure to his broken jaw.
“It's nothing that you need to know about.” Hige bristled at this comment.
“I really wish you would you let us in on this shit! You ALWAYS close us off! I'm sick of it! If we're going to be in this pack together we have to trust each other!”
“I do trust you.” He murmured. He could taste blood filling up his mouth again.
“THEN SHOW IT!” Hige panted, “I've been waiting a LONG time to say that.” He muttered.
“Do you really want to know what's been going on with him?”
“Yes.”
Tsume was about to reply when Kiba stopped him.
“Let me tell him so Toboe is mad at me, not you.”
Tsume nodded.
“Well?”
“Toboe is in season.”
Hige's jaw unhinged and dropped to the ground.
“It's why we gave him a haircut, to signify that he was no longer a puppy.”
“You've got to be fucking kidding me!” barked Hige.
“Nope.”
“That's what all this fuss has been about?”
“No. It's much more complicated than that and,” he paused, “It concerns only Toboe and Tsume so we have no right to pry any further than we already have. Now, I suggest that we all drop this subject and got to bed. Good night.”
“Oh man…” groaned Hige, “What a day.”
“You can say that again.” Sneered Zsollune. “You could've gotten some major action today if all this hadn't of started. It was that kids howling that got me out of the water.”
Tsume spun his head around.
“What about action?”
“Hige and Kiba. I caught them red-handed, and faced mind you. Though I never would've expected Hige to let Kiba be dominant so easily…”
“What?!” asked Tsume, “Is that what you were yelling about when I got back to camp?” he cringed again. I really should stop talking.
“Yep. You should have seen it. They were all over each other. And I though he was straight.” She paused, “So tell me… is Blue a transvestite or something else?”
Tsume almost smiled but caught himself. Hige was fuming.
“Blue is a female.” He murmured. He leant over and let the blood drip out of his mouth. He braced himself and spit, expelling the rest of the blood. He could feel that his jaw was horribly out of place. He cocked his head to the side and pushed on the bone. He grimaced and felt it pop into place. Zsollune nearly vomited. He opened and closed his mouth slowly too make sure it was in the right place and he could hear the bones crunching together.
“TSUME! STOP! That's disgusting!”
“Sorry,” he murmured. “Now, what were you saying about sleeping?” with that he rolled over so his back was facing the others and tried to fall asleep. Zsollune, Hige, and Kiba soon followed suit and the sound of their calm breathing was the only thing to be heard… well… all except for one of them that is.
“Every time someone touches me it sets me on fire… my dreams are so…erotic I need you…I need you…”
Hige was still horribly shaken from the goings on earlier that day. “I need you...” Those words were echoing in his head. No matter how hard he tried they succeeded in sending shivers down his spine every time. I can't believe I'm still thinking about that. Hige sighed and rolled over to his other side. I need to sleep. It was about 2:30 in the morning, and he was waking up constantly throughout the night. He kept waking up mainly because he was terrified that if he really fell asleep he would dream. He tried his hardest at staying awake but couldn't help but doze off, only to wake up fifteen minutes later because of his paranoid subconscious. He knew that for the small amounts of time he had been asleep, he had been dreaming. Of what he was not sure, and he didn't not want to find out. I need Blue. Dear moon help me. Didn't I tell Kiba once that he was jealous because I had Blue to dream about? And now I'm dreaming of him… oh the irony.
He rolled over onto his stomach and folded his arms under his chin for a pillow. He sighed deeply and closed his eyes. So what if I dream about him? I still need sleep and as long as I'm on my stomach… NO! AGH! I won't dream about him. I won't I can't. His mind apparently had other ideas. He couldn't stop his thoughts from focusing on a shirt-less Kiba hovering over him, straddling him, leaning closer and playing with the skin of Hige's neck… Kiba running his lithe hands through his thick curls, tingling his scalp… Suddenly Hige didn't want to lie on his stomach. Damn you Kiba and my god damned libido. He sighed deeply and got up to leave. I can't stay here. Not with him here… so close… Hige shook his head. NO!! Think of Blue! Blue… yes…Blue… my mate… He looked up from his musings and his jaw dropped to the ground. Blue was running towards their camp. Hige almost pissed himself. THANK GOD!!!
“BLUE!!!!!” he waved his arms to grab her attention. She heard him, dropped everything thing she was carrying and sprinted towards him.
“HIGE!!!!”
She rammed into him, knocking him to the ground; greeting him with a shower of kisses all over his face and neck.
“Oh my god!!! I've missed you so much… Hige!!!” she gasped. “I'm so happy to see you… oh my god… oh moon…I missed you so much….”
“I missed you too… I love you, I love you, I missed you…” He shifted his weight so he was above her. She smiled up at him. He gazed down at her expectantly, she nodded.
“I love you too.” She said.
Hige leaned into her neck and bit down hard. She cried out and then bit her lip to silence herself. It will only hurt for a moment. Hige thought. But why do I feel so strange about doing this? We've done this every year… why does it feel so different this time?
By this time Tsume, Kiba and Zsollune had heard their shenanigans. The three of them stood at the top of the hill and looked down and the embracing lovers. Zsollune was choked up.
“It's so beautiful.” She rubbed her neck absentmindedly. “I wish I had a mate like that…” she murmured while leaning on Tsume's arm. Tsume patted her head in an attempt to comfort her but she growled at him and pulled away. Kiba eyed him suspiciously and Tsume shrugged.
Hige pulled his mouth away and licked the wound he had inflicted. Blue winced at the pain.
“I love you.” He said.
“And I you.”
He stood up and extended his hand to help her to her feet, she took it. Hige planted a kiss on her forehead and they walked towards the others. The two of them could barely keep their mouths separated for more than five seconds. Tsume sighed and shook his head.
“You know Hige, you didn't have to parade your mate in front of the rest of us.”
“Yes.” Agreed Kiba, “It would have been more logical for you two to simply run off somewhere.” He winked, and both Hige and Blue blushed furiously.
“So you didn't want me to say hi?” asked Blue, grinning.
Kiba smiled.
“It's quite alright.”
Zsollune cleared her throat loudly.
“Oh… uh… This is Zsollune.” Said Tsume. Blue nodded and turned to face Tsume. “HOLY SHIT!” she yelped. “WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU?”
“It's a long story.”
“I intend to hear it!” she exclaimed. She turned to face Zsollune.
“It's a pleasure to meet you. But let me ask you something,” Zso nodded, “How on earth did you melt that cold heart of his?” Zsollune had a puzzled look on her face.
“Who?”
“Well Tsume of course.”
Zsollune burst out laughing.
“No! No, no, no, no. Tsume is NOT my mate.”
“Oh… then Kiba?”
“NO!” exclaimed Kiba.
“So then you're just here…?”
“Yep. I was on the run from a pack `o humans, so I asked if I could crash here with them, and I've been here for almost two months. “
“Oh…” she looked around, “Where's Toboe?”
“Sleeping.” They all replied in unison.

Author's Note: Well there you have it. A bit angst-y but it WILL get better. And yes… there may not be any further developments with KiGe… but we shall see. ::grins:: And also… Tsume will not be permanently scarred, nor will he stay too bruised to make out for too long…:grins:: You shall see! We all shall see!
