Wolf's Rain Fan Fiction ❯ Ich Liebe Dich ❯ The Red Moon Waltz ( Chapter 5 )
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Warnings: I told you the first FOUR times… but incase you STILL didn't get the message… THERE IS YAOI and SHO-AI, so beware. Just thought I'd make it clear, again. So if you don't like it, don't read it. >_< Look away, kiddies.
Author's note on Toboe:I assumed that Toboe was about 12-13 years old (I'm doing ages in human terms…) when the series started, the story takes place outside of the show's plot- no Cheza, and no humans. Also, nothing mentioned about finding paradise. So now, I have Toboe at about 17 years old. (I know it sounds weird for a 17 year old to just be having his voice change, but work with me people! Besides, I like him better as an older wolf and the author rules over the story! Also, don't ask me about dog years… I have no idea. I don't know where years 14-16 went so don't ask!) And… just incase you missed it, he has shorter hair, and he talks with a relatively deep voice the WHOLE time now. Apparently giving Tsume…er… head… made his voice change for good… ^____^ and when I say, “dropped his voice a few octaves” it's about as deep as Tsume's voice. I'd guess him to be about 5'10' now, and Kiba to be 6'2' since that's who I compare him too. Tankies for reviewing, have a nice day! Also, note on the female's name: Zoh-loon is how you pronounce it. ^___^
Rating: This chappie is more like PG because… well… you'll see. It's got a poetic feel to it.
Disclaimer: Again- I DO NOT own Wolf's Rain. How many times do I have to tell you people that? The BONES people own it I think… or somebody…but it ain't me.
Now, on with chapter five!
By the way, please review!
The Mysterious She-wolf
Chapter Five: The Red Moon Waltz
He'd been asleep for 14 days. They were all afraid that he would never wake up to see the moonrise again. His rust colored hair was plastered to his forehead with dried blood and sweat from his fever. They would know he was dead if his human illusion faded…forever… leaving a broken wolf. Leaving an unfinished life. Like an unfinished symphony, an unfinished waltz. The Red Moon Waltz. His breathing was labored, and raspy. The wounds on his stomach still bled. Zsollune didn't know how to make them stop completely. They all took turns watching him… looking for signs of life in him… watching if things turned for the worse. Tsume never left his side for the first six days.
He brushed his hair back from his face the best he could and tried not to disturb his torn ear. Kiba was there, Tsume made a point not to look at him in the eyes. He knew that if he did, he would kill the white wolf. He made a vow to himself, that if Toboe didn't make it… he would kill Kiba and then himself… but he didn't tell the others the part about his suicide… they wouldn't understand.
Zsollune had done her best to tend to all his wounds, and Kiba's as well. She seemed to be the only one that didn't think Kiba's actions to be barbaric. She'd grown up in a pack. She knew what it was like to be fought over. She knew that after this was over, Kiba would hold no grudge. Nor would he feel guilty if the younger wolf was crippled for life. Only Toboe's death would bring him guilt.
“Is his fever gone?” whispered Blue. Tsume placed his palm on Toboe's forehead.
“No.”
She sighed and sat back against the rocks next to Hige. She laid her head on his shoulder and a pair of tears leaked from her eyes.
“What if he dies…?” she whispered softly to Hige.
“He won't.” he whispered back.
Toboe coughed.
“Toboe?” whispered Tsume.
No answer came from the young wolf.

“Get some sleep, Tsume.” Said Zsollune. “You need it more than I.” she smiled at him, “Besides; you haven't sleep since The Fight.”
“I don't care. I want to be here when he wakes up.”
She smiled again.
“I'll wake you if it looks like he'll be waking up.”
“Fine.” He looked over to where Kiba was sleeping and frowned. “I don't want him sleeping here.” He muttered. “He doesn't deserve sleeping here, acting like nothing happened.”
He took a step towards the sleeping white wolf. Kiba had yet to revert to his human form. It was probably easier for him to heal in his wolf form since his ear was ripped off and his snout badly wounded. Zsollune placed a hand on Tsume's shoulder.
“Don't.”
“Don't what?” He pulled away from her grasp and walked towards his spot. He lay down on the ground with his back towards her and let much needed sleep take him.
She sighed. Will they ever get over this? She sighed again, Tsume will probably never forgive Kiba if Toboe ends up crippled…and Toboe… if he doesn't wake up, I'm sure Tsume will kill Kiba. All of them besides Kiba have spent a lot of time in the city, Kiba still holds on to the old ways, and they know nothing about them… She sighed again and put a damp cloth to Toboe's forehead. He was so brave, and he's just barely a wolf, maybe not one yet… she thought back to the fight, He could have killed Kiba three different times during that fight, he just never took the opportunity to attack. When he clamped on to Kiba's neck, he could've killed him. Kiba would've just kept trying to throw him off until Toboe ripped a hole in his neck. When he had his face, he could've got him too… oh well. What's done is done. I hope Kiba doesn't decide he still wants to fight for Tsume. Tsume obviously wouldn't give himself over anyway so there's really no point in it. She looked down at Toboe. She hadn't really noticed how handsome he was. She had just thought of him as the puppy until now. He defended his mate… he fought Kiba.
She took the cloth away and studied his sleeping face. He really was more handsome than she remembered. Without all that extra hair, she could actually see his face. His skin was still amazingly soft like a puppy's, but he was definitely filling out nicely. She opened his shirt to inspect the wounds, and inspected him as well. He wasn't skinny as a rail, as she expected. They sure do grow into their adult bodies fast, Jesus! He was nicely muscled and on the road to being as impressive as Tsume or Kiba.
He was beautiful. His skin was a bit tan, since he spent a lot of his time basking in the sun shirtless with Tsume and bathing in water exposed to a lot of sun. He doesn't have a child's body at all…she mused. Maybe a year before now, his body may have resembled that of a young girl- Just a mass of soft, squishy baby fat, no breasts, no hips. His stomach was no longer a canvas of baby soft skin; she could see that muscles were beginning to be defined across his belly and in his pectorals. His hips were still slim, but then again, most male's were. He is beautiful. She thought, like clay being molded into a sculpture… She leant forward and kissed his still burning forehead. Do I dare kiss your lips? They look like they'd be as soft as petals… she looked over at Tsume, he's sleeping. She leant forward and kissed Toboe's lips. They were soft as she expected. She sat back on her haunches and smiled down at him. You will be a beautiful man.
Suddenly she noticed that his eyes were open slightly. She gasped; none of them had seen her in her wolf form yet. When she had tackled Tsume she simply used her weight to hold him down, not her full wolf form. He extended his unhurt arm and scratched her left ear.
“Zso…” he rasped, “Lay with me… I'm cold…,” he murmured. His hand dropped and he patted the ground next to him.
Zsollune smiled.
“Alright.” She lay down next to him and licked his face affectionately. She almost jumped when she saw the red wolf next to her.
“It's alright…,” he murmured. She let out a sigh of relief. She lay down next to him again, “Your true form…,” he murmured. He felt her soft fur against his muzzle and curled up next to her warm belly. She wrapped her tail around him and licked his face as a mother wolf would. She really was a lot larger than a normal wolf, about twice the size of Toboe. Her fur was jet black and her eyes were still green, like they were in her human form. She could've easily broken anyone of the wolves, including Kiba and Tsume. Her limbs were limp while she slept, but when she moved them Toboe could see her muscles contract, and he could sense an enormous amount of power in her. Her jaws were a scary thing to look at. Her teeth were sharp and menacing looking; even if he jaw simply lay open in her sleep. Her tongue lolled out of her mouth lazily and Tsume smiled down at the sleeping wolves.
Toboe was alive and that's all he had wanted to know. He had heard Toboe ask her to sleep next to him. At first he was mad that she hadn't woken him, but when he saw them lying there together all he could do was smile at the endearing sight. She was even more beautiful as a wolf than she was as a human. Her shiny black fur caught the light of the nearly full moon and looked as if it were tipped with diamonds. From what he saw earlier, her eyes were still a vivid green, only brought out more by her ebony fur. He smiled and lay next to Toboe's sleeping form. He watched Toboe sleep for while but soon fell asleep again.

Toboe awoke to the face of a sleeping Tsume. He wagged his tail and licked Tsume's nose affectionately. Tsume's eyes snapped open and he captured Toboe's lips in his own. He threw his leg over Toboe's hip and Zsollune slid out of the way, blushing at the sight of the two good-looking males kissing each other so passionately. He slid he hands up Toboe's back and his nails stung the slightly muscled flesh. Toboe groaned and Tsume instantly stopped.
“Are you alright?! I didn't hurt you did I??” he asked, very concerned. Toboe laughed in his face. Tsume frowned, only making Toboe laugh more heartily. Blue and Hige heard Toboe laughing and bolted over there. Blue blushed at the sight of Tsume straddling Toboe and Hige was amazed to see any act of affection from Tsume.
“Thank the moon!” exclaimed Blue. Just then, they both noticed the huge black wolf sitting behind the two lovers. “Holy shit!” she shrieked, “Is that really you!?”
Zso laughed and walked out from the shadows of the cave. She moved as gracefully as a cat despite her size. She sat down next to Hige and he felt intimidated to be sitting next to her. He was a pretty large wolf, and she was bigger. That was an interesting thought. Except her size was all muscle, not puppy fat, as Hige called it. Toboe slid his hips out from under Tsume and sat up straight. Tsume got out from above him and sat behind him, cradling him in his arms. He wrapped his left arm around Toboe's waist and grabbed for the hand that was resting on Toboe's belly. Tsume rested his hand on to of it at first, but then flipped it over and intertwined his fingers with Toboe's. Toboe and the others were shocked to see such an affectionate gesture from Tsume. Tsume nuzzled the right side of Toboe's head and licked his neck affectionately. Zsollune smiled and walked over to where Kiba was laying.
He looked bad. His white fur was matted with coagulated blood. It was all over the back of his neck and his muzzle. His worst injury was in his side where Tsume had rammed into him. His breathing was even and calm, unlike Toboe's rasp.
“I know that you're pretending to sleep.” She sat back on her haunches and smiled down at him.
“Got me figured out, eh?” he whispered. He could barely speak.
“Does it hurt badly?”
“No.” he replied. She knew he was lying.
“He's awake now.”
Kiba's ears perked up slightly,
“Really?” he paused, “I thought I'd killed him…” he added flatly.
“He's very strong for his age; it'd take more than a bite to kill him. Tsume pushed you off in time before you did any real damage. ”
She was met with silence. “Kiba?”
“What?”
“Do you regret it…?” she asked nervously. It was never a good idea to question a wolf's pride or judgment, and knowing Kiba, he would attack her even in his injured state. She leant forward and licked his face gently. His wounds needed to be cleaned. He winced, he was still very sore. She tasted blood in her mouth he still wasn't fully healed, and wouldn't be for a nother couple of weeks.
“Quit squirming, your wounds need to be cleaned, you can't lick them on your own!” she continued her assault on his wounded snout and he cringed again. It stung when she shoved her tongue into the deep gouges. However, it had to be done. She pushed him on his stomach and licked at the wounds on his neck, causing him even more pain.
“Dammit!” he growled. “Are you done torturing me?” He rolled away from her and she snarled at him.
“Do you want your wounds to linger longer than they should? It has to be done, you overgrown pup! Quit complaining!” she rolled him onto his back to lick his face again. She leant in to lick his wounds again and gasped when she felt human flesh under her tongue. He kissed her briefly and she could sense he was in a great deal of pain. She tasted blood in her mouth. He'd probably reopened several wounds because of the strain. He pulled his mouth away and swallowed the blood that had pooled in his mouth. She looked down at him and cringed at the sight. It was bad. His face looked even worse than Tsume's had when his jaw was first broken.
“Oh… Kiba!” she extended her hand nervously and stroked the side of his cheek. He winced. There were ugly scars all across the bridge of his nose and his lips were scarred as well. The deep puncture wounds on his cheeks were just beginning to heal up. They still bled a bit. He sat up and she inspected the wounds on the back of his neck. These didn't look nearly as bad as his face did. The marks from the puncture wounds were still there and she could see where the flesh had been torn off. That made her think of his ear. She pulled his hair back cautiously and gasped at the sight. It was hideous to look at. It was gone. Absolutely gone. It had healed quite a bit but was still inflamed and the minor cuts were beginning to scab over. However, the main wound was still ugly and bleeding. She thought that maybe she would've been able to see his brains. She didn't dare look too carefully. She was afraid that if she did, she might see when the skin had been ripped from his skull.
She laid her hand on his face gently and made circles with her thumb on his cheek. He sighed deeply. It felt good to be touched by a kind hand. She was like a mother she-wolf caring for her poor broken pup.
“Are you in pain?”
“Yes.” He whispered. It was so frank. She empathized with him immensely. He'd been excluded from his pack for something that she had seen thousands of times in her travels from pack to pack. He was stuck with a bunch of city wolves who didn't understand. She laid his head in her lap, making sure that his torn ear was facing the red moon.
“Sleep.” She murmured.
He shut his eyes and was out like a light. She sat with him for a few minutes and gently set his head down. She licked his face affectionately, got up and walked past where Tsume, Toboe and the others were. Toboe was sleeping again, his limp arms draped over Tsume's hips. Tsume was leaning back on his hands, his legs spread wide with the younger wolf lying against his stomach. Blue and Hige were talking quietly with Tsume about something. She didn't stop to talk with them though. She walked towards a nearby ridge, to be closer to the moon. Her huge form was silhouetted against the moon, her fur seemed to be tipped with the stars and her bright green eyes seemed to glow. She sat back on her haunches, threw back her magnificent head and sang to the moon. She let out one long, sorrowful note. Her voice was beautiful. The other wolves couldn't help but feel the urge to join her.
Tsume roused Toboe from his nap and the two of them walked up the hill to join her. Toboe's leg was splinted, so it was easier for him to try to walk on it. Tsume waited while he took his painful steps. The grey and the red sat on either side of her and joined in her chorus. Blue followed soon after, and Hige did as well. Kiba was sitting up now and felt the strong urge to join them. They were still a pack… he was still their leader… He took a few cautious steps closer and Tsume eyed him menacingly. Kiba caught his glance but continued to walk up the hill. He sat next to Hige and the tan one smiled at him. Toboe stopped howling for a moment, but continued soon after, this time throwing his head back, despite the soreness in his neck. Kiba hesitated for a moment, but after seeing that no one wanted him to leave, he too threw his head back, singing along with them- their song to the moon. The Red Moon Waltz.
Author's Notes: I know… It's a short chappie, but the ending is just so poetic. This chapter is half the size of the other ones I've written so it's kinda weird… Anyhoo, tankies for the reviews everybody. I really appreciate it. YAY-NESS!
