Terror of Two

Toboe looked at the other wolf who sat down on the mattress right across from him. Both creatures were probably sizing each other up just in case they would have to fight each other if this conversation got out of hand. Toboe knew that if it came down to a fight he would lose big time because the creature was about twice his size, so if a fight did happen he would try to a make a split for it. The `biker' cleared his throat and looked at Toboe prepared to speak.

The biker said, “I have just come to these parts searching for a way to paradise. I have been here three days since by left forearm was badly injured when I fought off a deputy in the town over. Since I have been here I have not met any wolves except for you. Where is your pack?”

Toboe responded, “I lost my pack several months ago when the council running this city found our hide out and shot and killed the other three. They do not tell the people in the city about us, but scare them with threats of bogeymen; it is a lot of fun to go hunting in the night time.”

The biker nodded his head and looked out the window to the starry night that covered the cloudless sky. His name was Kiba even though he had not told the younger wolf that and he missed being out in the open forests where he would sleep under the stars. Since he started his search for Paradise, which was only open to wolves, he had been attacked many times by humans who had believed wolves were bad. He did not try to change their mindset or persuade them that he was not evil resulting in him killing at least 28 people to that point in time.

As both wolves sat in silence Toboe's mind wandered back to the girl who gave him the sausage and what she would taste like if he ate her. Toboe did not have as much experience as the other wolf and had only killed 6 people since he had been here, which was at least a year. Some people in the T.V. studio he worked at why someone so young and with not of a lot of experience was such a top shot reporter. Toboe smiled as he remembered the moment where he was to go on live in his first chance as the reporter, he froze like a deer caught in a car's headlights which was extremely embarrassing. However, he had now had his human image for several months know and his fellow co-workers were getting to know him better, or so they thought.

The biker said, “It is a nice night tonight, I might just wander around this city and get familiar with my surroundings before I push off to find Paradise. By the way my name's Kiba, maybe we'll catch up at some point in time.”

Toboe interested replied, “If you don't mind maybe I will go to Paradise too when you leave, it gets quite boring here after a while. I am going to go back to my place too and check up on a few things.”

Toboe got up and headed out from the dilapidated building before turning into his wolf form and heading back to where the human girl and her father lived. Tonight, he was going to pay her a little visit, and maybe get a midnight snack out of it.

As the brown-furred wolf trotted down the dark alleys of the street he got distracted chasing a little fur ball cat that lived about six blocks from where he usually hung out. It was good exercise and it actually got him closer to his intended destination then he himself expected. He licked his chops as he looked at the small house with no lights on. A tingling sensation went up his spine at the thought of a hunt and he immediately began to look for a way in.

Toboe soon noticed that the house was locked up and he immediately began to look for a way to make a noise which would attract the girl's attention. He then noticed that what looked like a bird house was in the middle of the back yard. He smiled inwardly before taking a running start at it and knocking it over with his right shoulder. The house fell down with a smashing sound.

Leara woke to the sound of her bird cage outside tipping over and a cry from her beloved falcon that she had had since she was five years old. She immediately got out of bed and rushed to the back door to see what the matter was. It couldn't be the wind because there had been no wind beating against the house so she assumed that it was some punk kids trying to scare her poor bird.

Leara ran outside in her sleeping clothes and tears appeared in her eyes as she looked at the smashed bird house and her feathered friend who lay near the house with one of its wings torn off. Tears began to slowly trickle down the young girl's pale-skin as she did not see the shadow advance behind her.

Leara turned around immediately when she heard a low rumble from behind her to come face to face with an extremely large brown-furred dog. Leara gasped as the `dog' slowly advanced on her.
