Chapter 2: Revival
+-+-+-+-+-+
The wolves reached a cave a few miles after they recovered the injured wolf. Kiba set her down and inspected her wounds. He turned to Toboe, “Hey Toboe do you think you could find those herbs you used to fix me up around here?” he asked, glancing back down at the wounded wolf. Toboe nodded enthusiastically.
“Sure! I'll go get some!” He said happy to be of some use. Hige scratched the back of his head and smirked when he saw Kiba giving the dark-furred female a look you'd see on a pup that was allowed to hunt with the pack for the first time; he was awed and he tried to hide it unsuccessfully. `Heh he must not be use to seeing such gorgeous babes…' he thought and stuffed his hands in his pocket.
“I'm gunna go make sure the runt doesn't get lost.” He said and walked out of the cave. Kiba glanced at his retreating form and sat down near the injured stranger. She was a vision of beauty in her true form but he briefly wondered how she looked as a human. Tsume distracted him as he kicked a rock and headed out of the gave.
“Nature calls…” he muttered. Kiba returned his gaze back to the wolf and jump in surprise when his crystal-blue eyes met molten-silver ones.
“Can you see me?” He asked her, she shook her head and winced with the action, regretting it immediately.
“I can't see… I've lost too much blood…” she said softly, too weak to speak up.
“What's your name?” he asked, she hesitated before responding softer then before, as if shy.
“Akago…” Kiba smirked
`Red huh? Fitting…' he thought and looked the patch fur on her that was not caked in blood. As noticed before she had a dark red hint in her black fur that caught the light of the dulling sun, making it look like she was completely covered in blood if she wasn't already.
“What do I call you by? Should I call you savior?” The ebony-furred wolf suggested, thanking him in her own way. Kiba gazed sadly at her, what could have happened to this majestic creature?
“Kiba.” Was his only response as he watched Akago close her eyes, unable to stay awake any longer. Kiba let her rest as he waited for Toboe to return with the herbs. A while later Toboe eventually returned with arms full of the green leaves he used on Kiba when he was beaten half to death. Toboe sat down near the injured wolf and began placing the herbs on her. Akago was woken by the movement but kept her eyes closed and breathing as steady as she could in her condition.
`Why would they help a stranger and a wolf that isn't a pack member at that?' she thought drowsily. She felt the sting of the medical herbs begin to work and flinched where Toboe added more to her open wounds. When he finished he sat back and inspected his work.
“Okay, she's going to have to stay and rest for at least two days…” he said and looked up to Kiba for approval. Even though he claimed that no one in this “pack” was leader everyone, including Tsume knew he was the most capable and the most respected as one. Kiba nodded silently and leaned back, closing his eyes, to sleep. The others soon followed suit.
Akago opened her eyes and was distressed when she still could not see well, she could not however see blobs and colors but in the quickly darkening cave there was no use. She sighed inwardly and closed her eyes once more, resolving to sleep so she would heal faster.
The night was merciful as it brought coolness and no wind. The cave was dark, warm, and silent with the occasional drips of water deeper in and the soft snores of the ever-hungry Hige. Toboe kicked his feat as he dreamt of running with dear and not feasting on them. Tsume was almost drooling in his sleep as he dreamt of exactly the opposite of Toboe's dream. Hige was out like a light and was in too deep a sleep to dream. Kiba dreamt of paradise as always but this time his dream made him uneasy.
Kiba ran with all his might toward the light beyond. He knew Paradise was there, he could feel it, he could SMELL it but he could not reach it! Why?
What did that mean?
He was alone as he ran, always alone. What about his friends?
What did that mean?
He reached the gates but they were closed. On the gate was a symbol, a two faced wolf and only one half glowing.
What did that mean?
Suddenly he was thrust back and forced to start running again but this time a second wolf joined him... a black wolf; he could not tell who the wolf was but they ran together; ran, ran until they reached the gate once more. This time the other half of the symbol glowed and the gates opened. Inside he could only see an aura of beautiful colors, white flowers everywhere and soft light. He could hear happy howls from wolf pups and joyful laughter of human children.
What did that mean? Then the dream ended and he woke up. Kiba sat up and rubbed pieces of sleep from his eyes. In his wolf form he stretched out and yawned the rest of the sleep away. He sat and surveyed his surroundings, the sun was rising and the rest of the wolves were sleeping… except one…
Kiba looked around for Akago and found her at the entrance to the cave, staring into the distance. He could see an array of emotions play out in her eyes as he approached her silently. “Good morning…” he said softly. She jumped in alarm and turned to face him. Her breath caught in her throat. His intense eyes gazed into hers without wavering; his strong posture towered powerfully over hers without meaning to. Even though she knew she was at least two years older then he she could see the wisdom and pre-mature experience in his eyes.
She was entranced by the sight of the most gorgeous male she had ever seen. Like Kiba had done before she briefly wondered what he looked like in his human form. Kiba smiled slightly, making her heart skip several beats and almost giving her a heart-attack because of it. His smile looked like something rare from him, like a rare, precious gem that shone brightly.
“I-I uh…” she cleared her throat and shook the daze from her head. “Good morning…” he made out and tried to hide her blush by looking away. `Great… the moment you can see the guy who saved you from death you're acting like a love-struck puppy…' she thought then she pondered her own statement. She knew she was undoubtedly, unbelievably attracted to this mysterious white wolf and she wondered if she saw her mate the same way when he was alive. Her deceased mate was the typical tall, dark, and handsome but he did not hold the mysterious, mystical like aura that the white wolf had. And he had not make her blush and go all shy like the first time they met either. She sighed inwardly and was lost in memory.
“'you okay?” Kiba asked. Akago jumped at the sound of his deep, husky voice and blushed again. She frowned at herself and nodded slowly as a response.
“I'm just thinking… hey why did you help me?” she asked suddenly, meeting his gaze again and almost immediately loosing herself in his eyes. Kiba did not change his content, stoic-like, serious expression as was customary for him as he answered.
“Because you would have died if we didn't… we're wolves, wolves are suppose to help their kin like humans used to…” he added. Akago gave him a curious look.
“Used to?” she asked. He broke his spell on her by looking into the distance before answering her.
“Humans are tearing themselves apart… they no longer give a damn about each other… they use to be just like us once, or rather how even we use to be… we're not doing so well either, I know that, that is why I try to help… I didn't use to before, I would kill if I felt threatened before asking questions but something… I don't know, something made me change, something deep within me…” he said, uncharacteristically speaking so much all at once. Akago did not know him as well as the others so she did not find it odd; she nodded and gazed off into the distance again.
“Thank you.” She said softly and Kiba nodded.

End A/N: Humm I wonder how the others will react to her or rather how she will react to them when they wake up… Did anyone understand Kiba's dream? It's not as simple as you think!! If you can guess correctly what it means I'll give you a cookie!!!!!!!!!!!!!11ELEVEN
