Chapters/Parts: 10/?
Silently Ken sat in the hospital waiting room with his face hidden in the palms of his hands, lost in his own thoughts. He blamed himself for Jason’s assault on Chris. If he didn’t leave the hotel than he could’ve been there to help protect Chris from harm instead of sitting in a crowded room, waiting for a doctor to come out and reveal the results of Chris’ injuries. He prayed they weren’t too severe.
Ken lifted his eyes from his hands at the sound of nearby footsteps to find his good friend, Alvin Burke walking toward him.
“Adam called and told me what happened to Chris. How is he?” asked Alvin as he took a seat next to the light haired wrestler.
Ken sighed impatiently, “I don’t know. You know how hospitals are; they take their own sweet time.” Ken glanced down at the floor with sad eyes as he adds, “I can’t help but feel responsible for what happened to Chris.”
“You shouldn’t, Ken, there was no way you could have known Jason was going to do that to him.”
“I left Chris at the hotel alone. If I would have been there, I could have saved him a trip to this hellhole. No, I let my insecurities stand in the way and now because of my stupidity…”
“I think you’re being way too hard on yourself, Ken. If Chris is cheating than you had every right to leave. I think you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself and focus on getting revenge against Jason. I know deep down that it killed you to see Chris like that, no matter what kind of problems you’re going through.”
Ken lifted a treacherous hand to wipe at his inflamed eyes as fresh tears gradually fell, he responds in a trembling tone. “I felt my heart break into pieces when I saw Chris lying on the floor bloody. Just before, Chris and I had a bad encounter in the hotel gym. I got into an altercation with Matt Hardy after I saw him hugging Chris and it ended with me accidentally punching Chris across the face. I-I don’t know what came over me. When I saw Chris in Matt’s arms, I just lost it.”
Alvin rested a sympathetic hand onto Ken’s shoulder. “I think what you did was perfectly normal. You and Chris have something special; love like yours just doesn’t die overnight. I think you were feeling jealous because Matt was the one comforting Chris and not you.”
Gradually Ken turned his head to stare at Alvin after the echo of his words. Truthfully, he was right even though Ken didn’t want to admit it. “I would have never saw them if it hadn’t been for that brown envelope that I got.”
Alvin narrowed his eyes in perplexity at the mention of “brown envelope“. “What are you talking about?”
“Before I went down to the gym, I went upstairs to Chris’ room. Someone slipped a brown envelope under the door and…” Ken reaches into the pocket of his jacket and removes the Polaroid photo of Matt and Chris hugging. He shows it to Alvin and adds, “…this photo was inside of it.”
Alvin removed the photo from Ken’s hand, his eyes scanning the print that was wrote at the bottom. He looks at the man beside of him and speaks, “I bet my right arm that Jason was liable for this photo.”
“Why would he do that, Alvin? Why is this bastard trying to come between me and Chris?” Ken asked loudly in frustration.
“I wished that I had answers for you, Ken, but unfortunately I don’t know anything about Jason or about his past. Maybe Adam does. You should go talk to him after you’re finished here at the hospital.”
Ken glanced away from Alvin in thought and in time to see an elderly doctor walking toward them. He stands to his feet and walks over to greet the physician. Instantly he questioned, “How is Chris? Please tell me that he’s going to be okay.”
“Chris will live, but he’s suffered a few broken ribs, broken nose, bruise sternum and has a severe head concussion. We’d like to keep him for a few days. We don’t think he’s well enough to leave the hospital just yet.”
Ken nods, “As long as Chris gets better that’s all that matters to me. Can I see him, please?”
“Yes, you may.” The doctor leads Ken and Alvin through a crowded area toward the elevator. He pressed the ‘up’ button and the machine’s doors immediately open. He gets on the lift with the wrestlers before pushing the number “6”. He explains, “We put him in Intensive Care, so we could monitor him better.”
“Keep security on him too,” mumbles Ken.
The doctor frowns in confusion at the words that Ken had just spoken. “Uh, what was that?”
“I said keep security on him too. His injuries where the result of an attack by an obsessed human being; People are sick and twisted these days. There’s no telling what that motherfucker might try next,” said Ken as he stared at the doctor.
“Okay, we’ll make sure a guard stays by Chris’ room door at all times.”
Finally, the elevator arrives at the sixth floor and the doors open, the doctor was the first one out. Ken and Alvin followed the elderly man into a room that was a few feet away. Immediately, Ken’s heart dropped into his stomach and instant tears descend from his eyes at the sight of Chris hooked to random machines. There was a heart monitor, IV and a breathing machine. He hesitates before moving close to his Canadian lover. Ken slides a chair close to his bedside as he takes his hand and gently squeezes it for support. He lifted his free hand to run a few shaky fingers through thin strands of Chris’ hair as he whispers, “I’m here for you, baby, I‘m not going anywhere.”
Slowly Chris stirs from sleep at the sweet sound of Ken’s voice. He turns his head to look at the weeping blond as tears build in his sapphire eyes. Faintly he speaks, “Ken.”
Ken scoots his chair more close to Chris as his fingers continue to brush through every strand of hair and fresh tears fell down his cheeks. He stares into Chris’ weak eyes and promised, “Jason will pay for what he did. I’m not going to let him get away with hurting you.”
“I… I know about the text message… Jason sent… I never cheated on you…I would never cheat on you… you are my life…” said Chris honestly, as he stretched his hand out to dry Ken’s tears. He took a deep breath before quietly explaining, “I went out with him… while you were filming your movie in Puerto Rico… but we…we…” Suddenly Chris stopped speaking, his arm went limp and the machines begin to beep like crazy.
A mixed of horror and confusion filled Ken’s eyes as he stands from the chair and walked over by Alvin. He watched as random doctors and nurses rushed into the room to tend to Chris. Restlessly, he questions, “What’s happening? I thought he was going to be fine.”

Adam growled as he viciously slams Jason back first against a wall by the collar of his shirt. “You just put one of my dear friends in a hospital and because of you; Ken is at my fucking throat. Do you not realize that Chris could die from that beating you gave him? Why couldn’t you leave well enough alone, Jason, why do you always have to make every fucking thing about you?”
Jason shoves Adam away from him and dusts himself off as he looked at the longhaired blond through the corner of his evil eye with a slight smirk. “I finally got my retribution for all the pain that Chris caused me. If you think that, you’re going to come here and make me feel an ounce of remorse for that two-timing whore than you’re sadly mistaking. I did Ken a favor by leaving Chris to rot.”
“I think Ken is old enough to decide whether being with Chris is good or not for him. He doesn’t need you to play hero for him,” said Adam as he roughly grabs Jason by his collar yet again.
Jason laughs bitterly at his fellow Canadian’s actions before staring coldly in his eyes and warning, “If you don’t get your fucking hands off me than you’ll be lying in a hospital bed next to Chris.”
Adam removed his hands and steps away from Jason with astonishment pouring from his face. He wasn’t the same man that he knew when they were tag team champions in the WWE. Jason has changed and not for the good neither. “So help me God, Jason, if Chris dies than I will make sure Ken sends your coldhearted ass to hell.”
Jason chuckles heartlessly at Adam’s threat before erratically responding, “See, actually, I did do Ken a favor by beating the shit out of Chris.” He removes his cellphone from his back pocket before unfolding and handing it to Adam as a video begins to play. “I obtained this video of me and Chris from a staff member from the hotel room that I purchased that evening after we hung out together. It‘s nice when you‘ve got friends in low places.”
Slowly a deep, vexed frown appears on Adam’s face as he watched the disturbing footage that Jason had on his cellphone of him having sex with an unconscious Chris Jericho. After a few moments, Adam had enough. He grabs for Jason’s cell and quickly closes it as he glared at his former friend. He wasn‘t reluctant to ask, “What did you do to Chris? He looks “dead” on that video.”
Jason lowered his eyes to the floor as an evil smile forms on his mouth. “It really doesn’t matter, Adam, because I had this video forwarded to Ken’s email address and all he’ll see is Chris being fucked by me.”
