The thin rags that covered Lily's body made her skin cool, but she was lucky to have anything at all. In this line of girls all were nude, her being the only exception. These girls had no life of their own, they were each property of a horrid monster. Maxwell. One by one over the course of the day they were bought and led away.
Once again she was the last to stand with that tight leather collar around her neck, her neak itching with irritation. The only reason she was still there was because of how she looked. Just as they were about to pack up and leave, a tall standing man whose navy suit seemed black in the lack of proper light, walked into the tent. He gave the girl but a glance and a small smile and she had to turn her eyes to the ground. Her eyes were kept drawn to the dirt matted on her feet.
"Can I help you?" The beast, Maxwell, snaked up to the man, a smirk on his face.
His business was clear, yet he stated it anyway, "I wish to buy a slave. That girl seems to meet my standards. She seems to be the right age. Not to mention she is quite gorgeous." The paleness of her face brightened up with the red color of a rose.
Maxwell raised an eyebrow, "I suppose you're right. For you, here price is...," he paused for only a second then his voice came again," Eight thousand. She has no scars and her appearance... Well, she was born different but her skills to clean and cook make up for it. If you wish, I could make her bare so that you could see her skin as white as snow."
Lily gave him a cold glare from the corner of her eyes while her mind thought, "How embarrassing! I wish he would just shut up and let... what's his name.. The man buy me so I could get out of here! I wonder if he'd really allow that pig to show me off..."
Her muscles tensed when the stranger laid his hand on her shoulder, lightly playing with her hair. "No, I think I can spare her that bit of humiliation." His voice echoed in her mind, "My name is Charles Xavier. What's yours?"
She twisted her body to look at her new master, "You can get to mind, read it?" Before he was allowed the chance to explain, he had a duffel bag tossed at him.
Maxwell's voice interrupted their attempt at talking. "Here's her clothes. Have fun with her, I know I did." Just as she bent down to pick it up, she felt her body shake with the rage and embarrassment course through her veins.
Xavier broke her from her frozen position by gently grasping her arm and pulling her away to his car. He came to a slow stop just before they reached it. The girl felt the skin on his hand brush against her neck. A sad frown crossed his face when he removed the collar just to see a thin scar; it was too tight.
"As to your question, I'm a mutant. Just like you. Surely you've witnessed your power." The words came from his mouth so casually that she could have sworn he was telling her about his family. Her head bobbed with a nod as her hands fumbled for clothing.
"Can I change, please?" Underneath her strained words was hidden fear and worry about the way she was supposed to act around him.
His lips curled softly with a sweet smile, "Go ahead. What is your name?"
As she pulled on a t-shirt and a pair of shorts, she answered him back, still hiding her mixed feelings, "Lily Rayne Hellsing. What... would you like me to call you?" They both slipped into the man's car as he started the engine with a silent turn of his key.
She watched the horrible view drifting away in the passenger side mirror while he spoke. "You may call me Charles if you wish. If you want to call me Master, I don't mind either." Fearful feelings that crawled under her skin melted away, but the terrified feeling still remained. It wasn't the ability to read her mind that she was scared of. The calmness and gentle appearance was what truly terrified her. At an early age she had learned that that look could be deceiving. Her cheeks burned once again after hearing an amused sound. The words she thought were also the ones she voiced out loud. "I can be very dominant and mean when I need to be," he chuckled. "Now then, would you like to go to the bookstore? Your previous owner said that you liked to read." Nodding, Lily smiled weakly and traced her eyes on the features of the amazing scenery just outside the window. He added the thought of asking about her old master on his long mental list of things to do.
